For a bathroom, an IP65 spotlights recessed into the ceiling above the shower or vanity unit resists water splashes. This selection is entirely in aluminium, with GU10 or integrated LED, from the small 6 cm round to the 8.5 cm square.
What is an IP65 spotlight?
The IP65 rating indicates a device protected against dust and water jets. In practice, an IP65 spotlight stays in place above a shower, near a sink or under a canopy, without humidity attacking the light source. All the models shown here are in aluminium and rated IP65, in white, black or gold.
In France, the electrical installation of a bathroom follows rules that define zones around the bathtub and shower, with a minimum protection rating depending on the area. An IP65 spotlight covers damp locations exposed to splashes. The connection itself remains the work of an electrician.
IP65 spotlights for bathrooms
For a wet room, start with the white LED spotlights. White blends into the ceiling and lets the light do the work.
Dark finishes are gathered in black LED spotlights.
Outdoor IP65 spotlight: what the rating really covers
IP65 protects against water jets, not immersion. Under a canopy or in a soffit, the installation is suitable; check the voltage and mounting method on the product sheet. A 10 W GU10 model remains the simplest to maintain, since the bulb can be replaced without dismantling the spotlight.
Which spotlight can be installed in a bathroom?
Above the shower and vanity unit, an 8.5 cm round with integrated LED gives broad light and covers the area without multiplying the points. A small 6 cm with a ribbed lens, at 6 W, gives a tighter beam and suits the mirror. Both formats come in warm white and neutral white.
IP65 spotlight for the shower: where to place it?
Place the spotlight in the zone overlooking the shower, never in the direct jet. A 12 W integrated LED model in neutral white renders skin and tiles accurately. If the wet room opens onto the living room, also look at the recessed spotlights for the living room.
IP65 spotlight near the mirror: how to avoid shadows?
Two spotlights on either side of the mirror are better than a single one above, which deepens the shadow of the face. The small Ø 6 cm with a ribbed lens, like the Celian spotlight, narrows the beam onto the vanity unit.
| Use | Recommended format | Base | Light temperature | Power |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shower or bathtub | Recessed round Ø 8.5 cm | Integrated LED or GU10 | Neutral white 3500 - 4500 K | 10 W or 12 W |
| Vanity unit | Round Ø 6 cm with ribbed lens | Integrated LED | Warm white 2700 - 3500 K | 6 W |
| Kitchen, worktop | Round or square 8.5 cm | GU10 | Neutral white 3500 - 4500 K | 10 W |
| Hallway | Round Ø 8.5 cm | Integrated LED | Warm white 2700 - 3500 K | 12 W |
| Living room, accent lighting | Square 8.5 x 8.5 cm or round Ø 8.5 cm | GU10 | Warm white or neutral white | 10 W |
| Outdoor under a canopy | Recessed round | GU10 | Neutral white 3500 - 4500 K | 10 W |
How to lay out spotlights on the ceiling?
Draw the room plan to scale, then place the spotlights on a regular grid aligned with the usage zones: shower, vanity unit, circulation. Several close sources are better than a single point in the centre, which leaves cast shadows.
How many LED spotlights in a bathroom?
No single number works for every room: it all depends on the surface area, the ceiling height and the power chosen. Here, the spotlights range from 6 W for targeted lighting to 12 W for broader light. Draw the room, mark the zones, then align the grid.
How far from the wall should a spotlight be aimed?
In general, a spotlight placed too close to the wall draws a visible cone on it; move it away from the wall to wash it without patches. In front of a wardrobe or a worktop, an adjustable model is set after installation. Find them in the adjustable LED spotlights.
The dark shade is available in the black adjustable spotlights.
IP65 GU10 or integrated LED spotlight: which to choose?
A GU10 spotlight takes a bulb that you choose and replace: the light temperature then depends on the bulb installed. An integrated LED spotlight has its source fixed at the factory, in warm white or neutral white, and no longer has a bulb to change. Both come in 8.5 cm; the LED versions go down to 6 cm.
IP65 GU10 spotlight: which bulb to choose?
Choose a GU10 bulb whose temperature matches the room: 2700 to 3500 K for a hallway, 3500 to 4500 K for a kitchen or worktop. The Blancor white square spotlight takes this base at 10 W, in an 8.5 cm square.
The Noiris spotlight offers the black version, same format.
To compare the families, browse the white recessed spotlights.
IP65 12 V spotlight with transformer
A 12 V low-voltage spotlight does not connect directly to 230 V: a transformer, also called a driver, is required, with a power rating covering that of the spotlights supplied. Allow for it in an accessible place and check the voltage indicated on the product sheet before ordering.
| Criterion | GU10 base spotlight | Integrated LED spotlight |
|---|---|---|
| Source | Replaceable GU10 bulb | LED source integrated at the factory |
| Temperature choice | Depends on the bulb installed | Fixed at manufacture: warm white or neutral white |
| Power ratings | 10 W | 6 W and 12 W |
| Shapes available | Round and square | Round |
| Formats | Ø 8.5 cm, 8.5 x 8.5 cm, 9 x 17 cm plate | Ø 6 cm and Ø 8.5 cm |
| Dimmer | Depending on the GU10 bulb chosen | Possible on several models |
| Maintenance | Bulb to replace if needed | No bulb to replace |
Can an IP65 spotlight be installed on a dimmer?
Only some models are dimmer-compatible, and this is stated on the product sheet: an integrated LED source and a GU10 bulb are not controlled in the same way. In a living room or hallway, dimming the intensity adapts the mood without multiplying the light points.
Dimmer: where to read compatibility?
The mention appears on the product sheet, model by model. The relevant references are gathered in the dimmable recessed LED spotlights.
The same sorting exists for the dimmable recessed spotlights.
The whole range is found in all dimmable spotlights.
Dimming the light to separate the uses of a single room
A through hallway does not need the same intensity in the morning and in the evening. The Ulyssa spotlight in warm white, at 12 W and Ø 8.5 cm, is dimmer-controlled and works as well in an entrance as in a living room.
Which colour to choose: black, white or gold IP65 spotlight?
White blends into the ceiling and matches a light room. Black outlines the grid of spotlights and marks the graphic design. Gold, rarer, adds a decorative touch. All three finishes are in aluminium, with the same IP65 protection rating.
Black IP65 spotlights: what effect on the ceiling?
On a white ceiling, black highlights the alignment and becomes a pattern. On a dark ceiling, it blends in instead. Compare the black spotlights.
The recessed models are gathered in the black version of the recessed spotlights.
Gold IP65 spotlight: where to use it without overloading?
Gold works in small touches: a few points in an entrance or hallway, alongside a neutral ceiling. The Aurelis gold spotlight, round Ø 8.5 cm with a collar, is enough to set the accent. For a more understated look, see the design spotlights.

Should you choose warm or cool white LED for a bathroom?
Warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, gives a soft light for a living room, a hallway or a bathroom in the evening. Neutral white, between 3500 and 4500 K, renders colours whiter and suits a kitchen, a worktop or a wet room without a window.
Which light temperature for a bathroom without a window?
Without daylight, a neutral white of 3500 to 4500 K renders colours more accurately in front of the mirror. The Sylvara spotlight, at 12 W and Ø 8.5 cm, comes in neutral white.
Can warm white and neutral white be mixed in the same room?
Better to avoid it within the same field of view: two neighbouring temperatures are noticeable on the ceiling. Reserve warm white for the hallway or bedroom, and neutral for the kitchen, separating the circuits. See the LED spotlights for the kitchen.
The current lines are in the modern spotlights for the kitchen.
How to install and maintain an IP65 spotlight?
Installation is done in a ceiling cut-out, with the connection entrusted to an electrician. The rounds measure 6 cm or 8.5 cm in diameter, the squares 8.5 cm per side, the doubles a 9 by 17 cm plate. Aluminium and IP65 withstand humidity: a soft cloth is enough, without abrasive products.
Recess: which diameter for which spotlight?
The cut-out diameter and that of the spotlight are not the same: note the cut-out dimension on the product sheet before drilling, and check the depth available above the ceiling to house the body. The Solvane double spotlight occupies a 9 by 17 cm plate and lights two points from a single connection.
In what order to install spotlights: drilling, connection, fitting?
Mark and drill according to the grid, run the cables, make the connection with the power off, then clip the spotlights in. The five-year warranty covers the whole selection. To broaden the search, browse metal spotlights.
They complement the design LED spotlights well.

Frequently asked questions about IP65 spotlights
Which IP for bathroom spotlights?
In a bathroom, the IP rating of a spotlight depends on its distance from water. A device rated IP65 resists dust and water jets: this is the level chosen for this entire selection, which allows it to be installed on the ceiling above a shower or a vanity unit.
How many LED spotlights should I install in my bathroom?
The number depends on the surface area, the ceiling height and the power chosen: in this selection, the spotlights range from 6 W for targeted lighting to 12 W for broader light. Draw the room to scale, place the zones to be lit, then align the spotlights on that grid.
Which type of lighting is best suited to a bathroom?
Lighting distributed across several points recessed into the ceiling avoids shadows in front of the mirror and around the shower. A warm white of 2700 to 3500 K relaxes in the evening, a neutral white of 3500 to 4500 K renders colours more accurately near the vanity unit.
Which spotlight for outdoors?
An IP65 spotlight resists dust and water jets, which makes it usable under a canopy or in a soffit, without immersion. For an outdoor installation, check the voltage and intended installation method on the product sheet, and entrust the connection to an electrician.
Does a 12 V IP65 spotlight need a transformer?
A 12 V low-voltage spotlight does not connect directly to 230 V: a transformer, also called a driver, is required, with a power rating covering that of the spotlights supplied. Allow for it in an accessible place and check the voltage indicated on the product sheet before ordering.
Note the cut-out dimension and the light temperature of your room, then confirm these two points on the model sheet before ordering.
