Plan for one light point per area you want to mark out: one for the walkway, one for the dining corner, one for the wall. The models in this selection are wooden LED decking spotlights rated IP44, mostly with a beige body (the Oak and Oak Bois both are), in tube or round shape, and they work just as well in a kitchen as in a hallway.

What kind of light does a wooden LED spotlight give on a terrace?

A wooden spotlight casts a directed light: a crisp pool on the ground or on a wall, with a clear edge between the lit area and the rest. In the evening, this traces a walkway or isolates a dining corner without lighting the whole terrace. The wooden body does not change the result: the bulb does.

LED spotlight for a wooden terrace: which base, GU10 or G9?

The base does not change the colour of the light, it determines the family of bulbs you can screw in. Here, the GU10 base is fitted to both Oak models and the G9 base to both Madera models. The simplest approach on a single terrace is to standardise on one base, so you keep identical spare bulbs.

What bulb wattage do you need to light a terrace in the evening?

The models in the collection take a bulb of 15 W maximum on the 80 cm Oak Bois spotlight, 50 W maximum on the compact Oak spotlight, and 28 W maximum on both Madera models. These are ceilings, not instructions: in general, a few watts are enough to mark an accent point, and heating up more does not light better.

Wooden spotlights are compared here base by base, which saves you from buying an incompatible bulb.

The models in the collection, one by one
Model Material Dimensions L × W × H Base Max wattage Protection
Spot LED | Oak Bois Wood 12 × 12 × 80 cm GU10 15 W IP44
Spot LED | Oak Wood 6 × 6 × 13 cm GU10 50 W IP44
Spot LED | Madera Bois Wood and fabric 28 × 28 × 40 cm G9 28 W IP44
Spot LED | Madera Wood and fabric 4 × 4 × 23 cm G9 28 W IP44

Where should you install a wooden LED spotlight: terrace, kitchen or hallway?

All four models are rated for outdoor use, terrace, kitchen, hallway, living room and bathroom. On a terrace, they mark a walkway, a dining corner or a stretch of wall. Indoors, they replace a conventional light above a worktop or in a hallway, with a warm result that metal or white does not give.

How do you work a wooden spotlight into kitchen decor?

A beige body blends into light splashbacks and warms up a dark worktop. In a modern kitchen decor, two or three points aligned above the worktop are enough, rather than one large light. To compare options, see LED spotlights for the kitchen; the recessed version for kitchens suits when you want the light to disappear.

Covered terrace or open-air terrace: what IP44 changes

A covered terrace gets little water, an open-air terrace gets driving rain. IP44 covers both cases. What changes is runoff: in the open air, it is better to place the light where water does not pool, and to check that the cable does not form a pocket. For the entrance, also see lighting an entrance.

How do you choose between a tube wooden spotlight and a round one?

The tube shape dominates the collection: slender, it slips along a wall or into a corner without taking up space. The real criterion is the footprint on the ground and the visible height. A 4 cm diameter model at 23 cm fits almost anywhere; a 12 cm at 80 cm is noticed from afar and has to be intended.

Small format or large model: which to choose depending on the surface?

On a small terrace, a large body overwhelms the space. Near a table, a 40 cm high model lights without dazzling the guests. On a large terrace, the tall format acts as a visual marker and fills the void. Always place the light out of foot traffic.

Fabric on an outdoor spotlight: is that reasonable?

The two Madera models combine wood and fabric, rated IP44 like the others. It remains a sheltered outdoor light: under a canopy, a pergola or a covered terrace, the fabric holds its own. In full wind and open air, prefer the wood-only Oak models, simpler to wipe down. The Madera Bois 40 cm is the most generous in the range.

Which format for which use on the terrace
Format Dimensions Model Use
Very compact 4 × 4 × 23 cm Madera at 23 cm Mark a narrow walkway or a wall corner
Compact 6 × 6 × 13 cm Oak 13 cm Light a step, graze a wall
Intermediate 28 × 28 × 40 cm Madera Bois Hold a dining corner or a terrace corner
Large format 12 × 12 × 80 cm Oak Bois Signal a point from afar, act as a marker

Designer LED spotlights compare well with ours when you are looking for another silhouette.

IP44: can a wooden spotlight withstand rain on a terrace?

IP44 reads in two digits. The first 4 protects against solid bodies over 1 mm, the second against water splashes from all directions. In practice: rain and splashes are covered, a high-pressure jet, a pressure washer or immersion are not. All four models are IP44.

Can you leave a wooden spotlight outside all year round?

Yes, they are rated for outdoor use. The wood needs a little attention: a visual check before winter, on the fixings and the general condition, is enough to spot anything that has moved. Nothing suggests they need to be brought in, but a light placed under a canopy always ages better than one in full wind.

How do you maintain an outdoor wooden spotlight?

A soft, slightly damp cloth for the wood and the glass, that is all. Avoid abrasives, alcohol and direct water jets, which mark the finish and push moisture into the joints. For another room, see spotlights for hallways.

Wooden LED spotlight or recessed spotlight for a terrace: which to choose?

A wooden spotlight is visible: it is part of the decor, installs without major drilling and can be moved if needed. A recessed one disappears into the slab or the wall and frees the floor. Wood suits terraces where the light is part of the layout; recessed suits surfaces where only the light should remain visible.

When should you prefer an adjustable outdoor spotlight?

When the area to light moves: a tree, a facade, a garden lounge you move around. Adjustable models are set once and for all, whereas a wooden spotlight lights along the axis of its installation. For a paved terrace, compare with recessed LED outdoor spotlights.

Can you mix wooden and recessed spotlights on the same terrace?

Yes, provided you keep one intent: wood for living areas, recessed for technical circulation. Avoid mixing two very different colour temperatures on the same surface, the gap shows immediately. Designer LED outdoor spotlights offer other options.

How do you match a beige wooden spotlight with the rest of the terrace?

The beige of the wood matches slats, teak, light stone and terracotta. It stays discreet by day and does not clash with wooden furniture. The simple rule: pick up the tone of the garden furniture and keep the same base across the whole terrace, for even light from one point to the next.

Wooden spotlight and garden furniture: which tones to pair?

Stick to light woods, raw textiles and stone. A terrace already busy with colour copes poorly with a third tone. If your furniture is dark, the beige of the light creates a clear contrast and acts as a marker; for a more uniform result, see the white version.

Should you light the wall or the ground first?

The ground first: it is what makes the step and the walkway safe. The wall next, for depth. A single spotlight placed near a wall lights both at once. Indoors, living room lighting and dimmable spotlights extend the same logic.

What maintenance does an outdoor wooden spotlight need and how long does it last?

The selection is guaranteed for 2 years. Actual lifespan depends on the bulb and the conditions: a light sheltered from wind and driving rain lasts better than a model exposed all year. A visual check before winter and a wipe with a soft cloth are enough to keep it in good condition.

How do you clean a wooden spotlight without damaging the finish?

Soft cloth, warm water, dry immediately. No abrasive, no scouring sponge, no solvent product. On the Madera models, the fabric is dusted dry, without soaking it. For other rooms in the house, see spotlights for staircases and adjustable spotlights.

How long does a wooden LED spotlight last outdoors?

No specific lifespan is guaranteed beyond the 2-year warranty: longevity depends on the bulb screwed in, humidity and exposure. Changing the bulb remains simple and inexpensive, since the GU10 or G9 base is standard. That is the argument for a light with a replaceable bulb versus a sealed LED unit.

Frequently asked questions

LED spotlight for a wooden terrace: which model to choose?

It all depends on the space and the result you want. The 13 cm high Oak slips against a wall, the 80 cm Oak Bois is seen from afar, the 23 and 40 cm Madera models combine wood and fabric. All are IP44, in GU10 or G9, with a maximum wattage of 15, 28 or 50 W depending on the model.

Can you install a wooden LED spotlight in a kitchen?

Yes. The models are rated for the kitchen as well as the terrace, hallway, living room and bathroom. IP44 makes them compatible with splashes on a worktop. For a kitchen, a compact format and a single base throughout the room simplify the choice.

Is an IP44 LED spotlight affected by rain?

No, IP44 is designed for that. The first 4 protects against solid bodies over 1 mm, the second against water splashes from all directions. Rain and splashes are covered; a high-pressure jet, a pressure washer or immersion are not.

Which base should you choose, GU10 or G9?

GU10 is fitted to the Oak models, up to 50 W maximum; G9 is fitted to the Madera models, up to 28 W maximum. The base determines the family of bulbs you can install. The simplest approach is to standardise on one base across a terrace for even light.

Tube or round wooden spotlight: which to choose?

The tube shape dominates the collection and slips easily along a wall or into a narrow corner. Round shapes take up more volume in the same spot. The decisive criterion remains the dimensions: from 4 cm diameter at 23 cm high up to 28 cm at 40 cm.
