Above a table: 70-85 cm from the tabletop; in a walkway: at least 2.10 m of clearance below the bulb.
What type of bulb?
Usually E27 or E14, sometimes GU10. Specified on each product page.
Compatible with LEDs and dimmers?
Yes, in most cases; for use with a dimmer, look for the “dimmable” mention.

A pendant spotlight hangs from the ceiling on a rod, track or cable, with a visible light source. In this selection, opal glass globes diffuse a soft, enveloping light rather than a hard beam, in warm white or neutral white depending on the model.

What is a pendant spotlight and what light does it give?

A pendant spotlight is a light point fixed to the ceiling by a rod, a track or a cable, with the source left visible. Here, the opal glass globes diffuse an enveloping light rather than a hard beam, in warm white or neutral white depending on the model.

What an opal globe changes in the room

Opal glass filters the source without showing it: no glare when you look up, no harsh patch cast on the wall. The glass ball dominates the selection, completed by a more compact aluminium sphere and a piece in wood and metal. All models are rated IP20, so they are intended for dry interiors only.

Integrated LED or E27, and which colour temperatures

Most references carry an integrated 5 W or 6 W LED: nothing to choose, the light is already calibrated. The Quillon adjustable spotlight with an E27 socket leaves the bulb choice open instead, up to 40 W. For atmosphere, warm white 2700-3500 K suits the living room and bedroom, neutral white 3500-4500 K suits work areas.

Where to install pendant spotlights in the home?

These spotlights suit the kitchen, hallway, living room and dressing room, and a few models also find their place in an entrance. They are chosen to light a precise zone, worktop, passage or reading corner, without multiplying ceiling holes.

Kitchen, hallway, living room, dressing room: what you look for

In the kitchen, you light the worktop without cast shadows, by lighting a worktop properly rather than saturating the room. A hallway needs only two or three points aligned along the circulation, as summed up by hallway lighting. The living room looks for a graphic line and soft light, like the spotlights for the living room. The dressing room needs close-range lighting in front of the wardrobe, among the spotlights for the bedroom.

Entrance and wet rooms: what is possible

The entrance takes a short, discreet rod that barely overhangs the ceiling. However, the IP20 rating does not cover water splashes: a bathroom remains out of reach for these models.

Which pendant spotlight for which room?
Room What you look for Suitable format Common colour
Kitchen light the worktop without shadow zones opal glass globe Ø 13 cm on track or short rod black
Hallway guide the circulation opal ball Ø 13 cm black or white
Living room soft light and a graphic line opal glass globe Ø 13 cm black or white
Dressing room close-range lighting compact format, sphere Ø 7.5 cm black
Entrance first light point short rod black

How many spotlights in a kitchen?

The number depends on the length of the worktop, the ceiling height and the spacing you want between two points. You work zone by zone, sink, hob, preparation area, rather than by a fixed number, and a modular track lets you adjust after installation.

A track of pendant spotlights slides: you install the line, switch on, move the points closer or further apart until you get continuous light. If the ceiling is low, a short rod keeps the globe out of your field of vision. When no fixture should protrude, the recessed version for the kitchen does the same job.

How to lay out spotlights on the ceiling?

First mark the zones to be lit, then align the points on these axes, parallel to the worktop or along the circulation line of a hallway. Spacing stays regular to avoid dark zones. On a track, the points slide, which lets you adjust after installation.

Two mistakes come up again and again: scattering the points at random, and placing them behind the person working, which casts their shadow on the surface. Align them, space them regularly, keep the same distance from the wall along the whole line. The black Cindara pendant spotlight, a 13 cm opal glass globe on a track, can be adjusted this way without drilling again. On a staircase, follow the slope and count one point per useful flight: adjustable spotlights are suitable when the light must target a precise step.

How to wire spotlights in series or in parallel?

In series, the points follow one another on the same circuit and the intensity drops as you add more. In parallel, each point keeps the same brightness and one failure does not switch off the others. Connection to the mains should always be left to an electrician.

In a parallel setup, each spotlight receives the same voltage: it is the logical choice for a kitchen or hallway line, where you want even light and an isolated failure. Series wiring is only justified on small decorative sets. Pendants powered by a tensioned cable carry both the support and the supply. Some designer spotlights are recognisable by this visible cable, stretched between two anchor points. No work should be done afterwards without switching off the circuit.

Pendant spotlights on cable or on track: which support to choose?

The track suits when you want to move the points and cover a length, the short rod when you want a discreet overhang, the tensioned cable when you want to stretch a line through a space. The larger the format, the more the available height matters before fixing.

The track is fixed to the ceiling and takes sliding points; it is the support for the 13 cm globes, like the white Jovane model. The short rod hangs low and suits low ceilings as well as entrances, like the Lorena short-rod spotlight. The tensioned cable is chosen for a long span or a rawer aesthetic, with the metal spotlights. A 7.5 cm aluminium sphere takes up little space above a piece of furniture.

Black or white: which pendant spotlight colour to choose?

A black spotlight stands out and draws a graphic line on a light or dark ceiling; a white spotlight blends into a light painted ceiling and leaves only the light visible. Opal glass dominates the selection, with a few pieces in aluminium or wood and metal.

Black, a deliberate line

On a white ceiling, black contrasts and structures: it is the choice of the matte black models. The black LED spotlights play the same card when you want to see the fixture and not just the light. In a hallway or open kitchen, this line guides the eye.

White, understated

White fades away and suits calm rooms. The white versions match a light ceiling and leave only the globe visible. On a dark ceiling, the fixture stands out on its own, which can be a deliberate effect. Anthracite and beige are also available, on a rawer piece.

Do you need a dimmer and how do you care for pendant spotlights?

Not all pendant spotlights are dimmable: part of the selection accepts a dimmer, to be checked on the model sheet before purchase. For care, a soft cloth is enough on opal glass and aluminium. Abrasive products that mark the finish are avoided.

The dimmer, a question of timing

About half of the models in the collection are compatible, including several dimmable spotlights. There are also dimmable LED models in 5 W and 6 W. A dimmer mainly changes the evening: high light for cooking, low for a dinner. A non-dimmable spotlight does not become dimmable with a different bulb.

Cleaning without scratching

With the power off, wipe the globe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then dry. On aluminium, no scouring sponge. Regular dusting is enough to keep the light even, and opal glass can be cleaned without being removed.

Socket, power, light and warranty in the selection
Feature What the collection offers What it means
Socket integrated LED on most, E27 on a few pieces LED: nothing to change; E27: bulb to choose
Power 5 W, 6 W or 40 W depending on the model the stated consumption is that of the model
Light temperature warm white 2700-3500 K or neutral white 3500-4500 K warm for the living room, neutral for work areas
Protection rating IP20 across the whole selection dry interior, outside splash zones
Dimmer possible on some models to be checked on the sheet before purchase
Warranty 5 years on a large part, 2 years on others covers models according to their reference

To choose, start from the room and the support: a track if the line needs to move, a short rod if the ceiling is low, a tensioned cable if the span is long. Then compare the socket and the light temperature. The Cindara spotlight and the Jovane model illustrate the two colours well. Frequently asked questions about pendant spotlights

Can pendant spotlights be installed in a bathroom?

The models in this collection are IP20, a rating intended for dry interiors. They are therefore not suitable for zones exposed to water splashes. They are reserved for the kitchen, hallway, living room, dressing room and entrance.

Do you need an E27 socket or an integrated LED?

Most models carry an integrated LED: nothing to change, the light is already calibrated. A few pieces, such as the adjustable faceted reflector spotlight, use an E27 socket and leave the bulb choice open. The latter suits if you want to adjust the intensity or temperature yourself.

Which designer pendant spotlight to choose for a living room?

A 13 cm opal glass globe on a track or short rod gives soft light and a clean line above a table or reading corner. Black marks the contrast on a light ceiling, white fades away. If you want a movable point, the track remains the most flexible support.

How do you clean opal glass pendant spotlights?

Opal glass and aluminium are cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth, with the power off. Abrasive products and scouring sponges are avoided, as they scratch the finish. Regular dusting is enough to keep an even light.

How many spotlights in a kitchen?

The number depends on the length of the worktop and the spacing you want between two points. Count one point per useful zone, sink, hob and preparation area, rather than a fixed total. A track of pendant spotlights remains modular if you want to adjust later.
