A crystal ceiling light is chosen first by its diameter and its socket: small format 18 x 7 cm for a hallway, Ø 41 to 60 cm for a medium living room, Ø 100 cm for a large room. Then comes the desired light, warm white for living, and the finish, most often gold, silver or bronze depending on the wall and furniture.
Which crystal ceiling light should you choose for a living room?
A living room crystal ceiling light is chosen first by its diameter: the collection ranges from the small 18 x 7 cm format up to models of Ø 100 cm with crystal drops. A large room supports a large ceiling light, a narrower room prefers a Ø 30 to 45 cm. Also consider the clearance: the lower the ceiling light hangs, the more visual space it takes up.
Which diameter for the size of the room?
In a living room of 20 to 25 m², a Ø 41 to 50 cm holds the ceiling without leaving it bare. Beyond 30 m², aim for Ø 60 to 80 cm, or even Ø 100 cm for models with crystal drops, such as the gold ceiling light with faceted crystal drops. A Ø 45 cm suits a medium living room or a dining room, as found in our dining room selection.
When should you choose a large ceiling light?
A large model is justified when the ceiling is high and the room wide: cascading or tiered crystals hang down and fill the space above the sofa. Round shapes remain the easiest to match with furniture already in place.
Which LED model for ambient light?
Two round LED ceiling lights illuminate an entire living room with no bulb to change: Ø 600 mm at 38 W and Ø 800 mm at 55 W, in warm white. The round LED ceiling light with crystal rods combines a bronze ring with crystal rods. To go further, see the LED ceiling lights with warm white light.
Which crystal ceiling light for a bedroom or hallway?
In a bedroom, a crystal that softens the light is better than a model that throws direct glare above the bed: domes, cupolas and crystal chains work well. For a hallway or workshop, a compact format, Ø 30 to 60 cm, avoids overloading a narrow passage.
Which light so as not to dazzle above the bed?
A low dome or cupola diffuses downwards and to the sides, so the light does not fall straight into your eyes. The bohemian model with crystal chains plays on stacked drops and suits a bedroom with soft lighting. The collection also brings together ceiling lights for an adult bedroom with more understated lines.
Which format for a hallway or workshop?
A Ø 30 cm is enough in a 1 m wide hallway: the light reaches the end of the passage without casting shadows. A study or workshop prefers a Ø 60 cm, which lights a whole work table, as in our selection of office ceiling lights. Hallways and entrances can take crystal cascades if the ceiling is 2.50 m or higher.
Kitchen ceiling light: how do you choose a crystal model?
In a kitchen, a crystal ceiling light works if it stays discreet above the work area: compact models and round LED ceiling lights find their place there. All models in the collection are IP20, so intended for indoor use away from water splashes.
Where should you fix it?
In the centre of the room for general lighting, or above the worktop for the preparation area. A small 18 x 7 cm format, such as the round ceiling light with blue ring and gold crystals, fits above an island without getting in the way. Kitchen lighting is often completed with a wider round model of Ø 60 to 80 cm in an open kitchen.
Which crystal style should you choose?
A trendy kitchen can take a gold or bronze ring combined with cut crystals, as long as the volume stays simple. Large stacks of crystals overload a small room. Modern kitchen ceiling lights and ceiling-mounted light fittings cover this need.
What light does a crystal ceiling light give?
Crystal does not produce light, it diffuses and reflects it through its facets. Depending on the model, you need an E14 or E27 bulb, or an integrated LED. In the collection, LED ceiling lights show a warm white of 2700 to 3500 K; a few references offer a cool white of 4500 to 6500 K.
Integrated LED, E14 or E27 socket: what is the difference?
An integrated LED cannot be replaced, the light is fixed once and for all, at 38 W or 55 W depending on the model. An E14 or E27 socket lets you choose the bulb and its intensity, so you can adjust the mood. All these pieces are IP20 and are installed indoors in dry areas. For dimming, see the dimmable ceiling lights.
Warm white or cool white?
Around 2700 to 3500 K, the light leans warm yellow: living room, bedroom and dining room gain in comfort in the evening. Between 4500 and 6500 K, the light is whiter and crisper, useful in an office or workshop. Crystal reflects both by multiplying the sparkles.
Gold or silver crystal ceiling light: which finish should you choose?
Gold largely dominates the collection, ahead of silver and bronze. A crystal on a gold frame warms an interior with light wood or cream walls; a silver frame matches better with grey, white or bluish rooms, and gives a cooler result.
When should you choose gold?
With light wood, beige, linen or cream walls, gold extends the warmth of the room and brings out the facets. It is the most represented finish in our gold models.
When should you choose silver or bronze?
On a grey, white or blue wall, silver holds the contrast and looks crisper. Bronze, rarer, pairs with kitchens and dark interiors. Metal frames bring these finishes together, and white ceiling lights are suitable when you want to blend the fitting into the ceiling.
Modern, antique or vintage crystal ceiling light: which style should you adopt?
Modern, antique or vintage here describe a visual effect, not the age of the fitting. Contemporary models play on geometric lines and rectangular tiered crystals; bohemian models stack crystal chains, drops and domes; the art nouveau spirit comes close through its curves.
Modern or contemporary?
Modern goes for clean geometry, aligned rectangular crystals and a sharp ring, as in modern styles. Contemporary keeps curves and freer volumes. See also the contemporary ceiling lights.
Antique, vintage or art nouveau?
These pieces are new: the antique spirit shows in the crystal drops and chains, the vintage in the domes and drops, art nouveau in the curves. The style is therefore read in the shape, never in the wear of the fitting.
Which socket and wattage for a crystal ceiling light?
Three cases exist in the collection: E27 socket for models with crystal drops, E14 socket for cut crystals in cascade or tiers, and integrated LED for round ceiling lights with a ring. The stated wattages range from 38 W to 60 W depending on the model, which determines the number of bulbs and the brightness obtained.
| Type of ceiling light | Socket | Stated wattage | Temperature | Dimmer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Crystal drops and faceted crystals | E27 | 60 W | Depending on the bulb | Not stated |
| Cascade or tiered crystals | E14 | 40 W and 60 W | Depending on the bulb | Not stated |
| Round LED ceiling lights | Integrated LED | 38 W and 55 W | Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Yes on the stated models |
E14, E27 or integrated LED?
The E27 socket takes wider and more powerful bulbs, handy on a large ceiling light with crystal drops. The E14 socket, slimmer, is fitted to cut crystals where the holder stays discreet. Integrated LED simplifies maintenance: nothing to change.
How should you choose the bulb?
Take the maximum wattage stated on the product sheet, without exceeding it. A low-wattage LED bulb often gives the equivalent of a more power-hungry filament bulb. If you want to vary the intensity, first check that the model is stated as dimmer-compatible.
How do you install and care for a crystal ceiling light?
Fixed directly to the ceiling, a crystal ceiling light hangs down only a few centimetres: the heights in the collection range from 7 cm for a small model to around 16 cm for the round LED ceiling lights. It is therefore suitable for low ceilings as well as living rooms, where a pendant would take up too much space.
At what height should you place it?
A ceiling light is fixed to the ceiling, so the question of suspension height does not arise: what counts is the gap between the ceiling and the lowest point of the fitting. At 7 to 16 cm, it fits under a 2.30 m ceiling. Above a table, a centred round or square model does the job, as in our living room lighting.
How do you clean it without dulling the crystal?
Cut the power before any handling. Wipe the crystals with a soft, dry cloth, with no abrasive product or scouring sponge. For models with bulbs, access is from below according to the product sheet. Regular dusting is enough to keep the facets sparkling, across all our ceiling lights.
| Room | Format available | Socket or technology | Recurring shapes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living room | Ø 41 to 100 cm | E14, E27 or LED | Cascade, tiers, round |
| Bedroom | Ø 30 to 60 cm | E14 or E27 | Dome, cupola, round |
| Hallway and entrance | Ø 30 to 60 cm | E14 | Round, cascade |
| Kitchen | 18 x 7 cm or Ø 60 to 80 cm | E14 or LED | Round |
| Workshop and office | Ø 600 to 800 mm | Integrated LED | Dome, round with ring |

Frequently asked questions
Which LED ceiling light should you choose for a living room?
A living room LED ceiling light is chosen by its diameter and the colour of its light. In this collection, the round LED models come in Ø 600 mm and Ø 800 mm, with a warm white light of 2700 to 3500 K and a wattage of 38 W or 55 W.
What is a powerful LED ceiling light and when do you need one?
A powerful LED ceiling light serves large rooms and high ceilings, where the light must carry far. In the collection, the integrated LEDs show 38 W and 55 W in warm white 2700 to 3500 K. Above a bed, a softer intensity is preferable.
How do you choose a large ceiling light for a living room?
Start with the diameter: a model of Ø 60 to 100 cm occupies the ceiling without leaving it bare, while a Ø 41 to 50 cm suits a medium living room. Cascading or tiered crystals add depth above a sofa.
Which socket for a crystal ceiling light: E14 or E27?
The socket depends on the model, not the material: in this collection, ceiling lights with crystal drops and faceted crystals are E27 at 60 W, while cut crystals in cascade or tiers are E14, at 40 W or 60 W. LED models have an integrated LED.
Which ceiling light should you choose for a trendy kitchen?
For a trendy kitchen, look for a crystal ceiling light that stays discreet above the worktop: a compact model of 18 x 7 cm, or a round LED ceiling light in warm white 2700 to 3500 K. Large crystal volumes overload a small kitchen.
