A round ceiling light is mounted directly on the ceiling and lights the room from a single point: first choose the diameter according to the room size, then the socket and the light colour. The collection ranges from 17 to 48 cm, with power from 9 to 140 W, in integrated LED or screw-in bulb. For a decorative effect, the collection offers finishes in glass, gold metal or acrylic, without crystal.
What is the difference between a round ceiling light and a chandelier?
A ceiling light is mounted directly on the ceiling, without a rod or chain, and directs light downwards: it is suitable for standard-height rooms, hallways and wet rooms. A chandelier hangs in the space, often above a table. Here, all models are round and surface-mounted, with or without integrated LED.
Round LED ceiling light: what changes compared to a classic bulb
With an integrated LED, the source is in the fixture: nothing to buy, nothing to screw in, and a uniform output across the entire diffuser surface. The majority of LED models light in warm white, around 2700 to 3500 K. A ceiling light with an E14, E27, GX53 or GU10 socket, on the other hand, accepts the bulb of your choice, which you replace yourself. The gesture is the same, the flexibility changes.
Suspended or flush-mounted round ceiling light?
A flush-mounted model saves ceiling height, which matters in a hallway, entrance or attic room. A model suspended on a short rod is only justified under a high ceiling, above a table or an island. All the pieces gathered here are surface-mounted: browse our lighting universe to compare, then all the ceiling light references in the shop.
Which round ceiling light lights a room best?
It all depends on the surface to be lit and the use of the room. Models with integrated LED diffuse a uniform light, with a stated power of 9 to 140 W depending on the reference. Most light in warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, a softer output for a living room or bedroom.
Powerful LED ceiling light: what really makes the difference
It is all about distribution rather than the figure alone. A large single diffuser sends a wide, even light from the centre of the ceiling. A composition with several light points, such as the Magnum 4 lights, lights in touches and leaves softer areas between them. Conversely, a small, highly diffusing format is better suited to a hallway than a living room. Look at the shape of the fixture as much as its stated power.
LED living room ceiling light: distribute light without dark areas
In a living room, a single large point placed in the centre is often enough, provided its diffusion is uniform. If the room is long or L-shaped, it is better to supplement with a wall light or a table lamp than to force the power of a ceiling light. The living room ceiling lights in the selection range from the discreet flat model to the graphic ring, to choose according to ceiling height.
What size round ceiling light to choose for a living room or bedroom?
The diameter is chosen first according to the room: small formats, from 17 to 26 cm, fit in a hallway, entrance or small kitchen; formats from 30 to 48 cm occupy a living room, bedroom or dining room. Under a low ceiling, an ultra-slim model of 2.2 cm remains discreet.
Large living room ceiling light: which diameter to favour?
The wider the diameter, the more the light is distributed from a single point: a Ø 48 cm like the Novis covers a large room without a multiplier. A Ø 30 cm, like the Design Ringlede Blanc, is better suited to a bedroom or office. The general rule remains simple: aim for a diameter of about one twentieth of the smallest dimension of the room, depending on ceiling height.
Black or white round ceiling light: what effect on the ceiling?
Black creates a clear contrast and matches ceiling lights in a contemporary style. White blends into the ceiling and visually enlarges a small room, which makes it valuable in a bedroom to light or a bright kitchen. For a low ceiling, look especially at the thickness: the Urne ultra-slim barely protrudes.
| Room or constraint | Suitable format | Examples from the collection | What it changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hallway, entrance | Ø 17 to 18 cm | Lisanne hublot, Ikaro | Takes up little space and lights the passage |
| Small bedroom, bathroom | Ø 26 cm | Galaxy IP44 | Compact format, uniform light |
| Bedroom, office | Ø 30 cm | Lunora | Good compromise between discretion and diffusion |
| Living room, dining room | Ø 48 cm | Novis | Covers a large room from a single point |
| Low ceiling | Thickness 2.2 cm | Urne ultra-slim | Remains flush against the ceiling |
| Large living room | Compositions 55 × 40 cm and more | Ena rings, Scintilla Sky | Creates a luminous pattern that structures the room |
Kitchen ceiling light: which to choose above the worktop?
In the kitchen, you want a bright light on the worktop and a fixture that is easy to clean. A round ceiling light in metal or glass, in white or black, matches most layouts. The IP20 rating is suitable for a room not exposed to water splashes.
Trendy kitchen ceiling light: materials and colours that work everywhere
Matte black and white remain the easiest to match with a wooden worktop, a light splashback or grey cabinets. A model in ribbed glass adds texture without overloading. Find these ideas in the kitchen ceiling lights and glass ceiling lights.
Round glass ceiling light: discreet and easy to clean
A glass diffuser is cleaned with a soft cloth, without streaks, and lets through a soft light that does not dazzle while working. The Lisanne industrial hublot, in ribbed glass and metal, in Ø 17 cm and E27 socket, was designed for an entrance, hallway or kitchen where a low, unobtrusive fixture is wanted.
When does a round bathroom ceiling light need to be IP44?
The protection rating indicates how well the fixture resists water and dust. In a bathroom, choose an IP44 model in areas exposed to splashes, such as the Galaxy in Ø 26 cm or the Ikaro. Elsewhere in the room, an IP20 ceiling light is sufficient.
Round LED bathroom ceiling light: what the IP rating changes
IP20 means protected against solid objects, without water resistance: perfect for a bedroom or living room, to avoid directly above a bathtub. IP44 adds protection against splashes, which covers the area near the water point. The Galaxy IP44 26 cm is stated at 12 W and warm white 2700 to 3500 K.
IP20 or IP44: where to read the rating before buying
The rating appears on the product sheet, along with the diameter and socket. Plan for IP44 for the splash zone and keep IP20 for the rest of the room. The bathroom models are grouped together, and the metal versions are well suited to a damp room thanks to their smooth surface.
LED, E14, E27 or GX53 socket: how to choose your round ceiling light?
A ceiling light with integrated LED has no bulb to replace: the source is in the fixture. Models with E14, E27, GX53 or GU10 sockets accept a bulb that you choose and replace yourself. Check the socket on the product sheet before ordering, especially if you want a precise colour temperature.
Integrated LED or bulb to change yourself?
Integrated LED simplifies everything: no bulb stock, an output set from the start. A screw-in bulb leaves the choice of temperature and flux, and is replaced without changing the fixture. Urne, Novis, Galaxy, Lunora, Ena and Scintilla Sky are integrated LED. Magnum 4 lights and Imago are E14, Lisanne is E27, Pixo is GX53.
Dimmable round ceiling light: which references are concerned?
Dimming must be planned at purchase: only certain models support it, and a compatible switch is required. In this selection, Ena and Scintilla Sky allow it. Check the mention on the sheet before ordering and compare it with the dimmable ceiling lights. The Novis Ø 48 cm lights in fixed warm white.
| Socket | Type of source | What it implies | Examples from the collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Integrated LED | Fixed source in the fixture | No bulb to buy | Urne, Novis, Galaxy, Lunora, Ena, Scintilla Sky |
| E14 | Small screw-in bulb | You choose and replace the bulb | Magnum 4 lights, Imago |
| E27 | Standard screw-in bulb | Free choice of colour temperature | Lisanne industrial hublot |
| GX53 | Flat bayonet bulb | Flat format for a thin fixture | Pixo |
How to install and maintain a round ceiling light?
Switch off the power at the circuit breaker, identify the wires, fix the bracket to the ceiling then connect the wires according to the instructions before screwing the diffuser. For maintenance, a soft, slightly damp cloth is enough: glass, metal and acrylic are cleaned without abrasive products.
Installing a ceiling light on the ceiling: the steps in order
Switch off at the circuit breaker, test that there is no current, identify live and neutral with the fixture instructions. Fix the bracket to the ceiling, connect the wires in the terminals, then put the diffuser in place before restoring power. Check the thickness of the fixture before drilling if the ceiling is low. The ceiling-mounted lights in the shop all follow this principle.
Cleaning a glass, metal or acrylic ceiling light
Unplug or switch off the power, then wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Ribbed glass requires a motion along the ribs to avoid streaks. Avoid alcohol, ammonia and abrasives on acrylic, which scratches. The same maintenance applies to a hallway ceiling light or a office ceiling light, often cleaned less often.
Black, white or gold round ceiling light: which style to choose for your room?
Black blends into a contemporary, modern or industrial interior; white goes unnoticed on the ceiling and visually enlarges a small room; gold, rarer, becomes the highlight of a living room. The styles in the collection range from minimalist to rustic, via contemporary and industrial.
Modern or contemporary LED ceiling light: which nuance?
Modern plays with clean lines and simple shapes, contemporary accepts compositions and mixed materials. Black finishes dominate the selection, followed by white; grey and red remain in the minority but exist in Urne. A very sober interior will safely support a graphic model.
Original ceiling light: rings, industrial hublot, ribbed glass
Ena stacks adjustable rings, up to 140 W, in black or gold. Lisanne plays the industrial hublot in ribbed glass. The Scintilla Sky gold composition assembles several discs and is placed in a living room or dining room. For a warmer spirit, also see the gold ceiling lights.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a ceiling light and a chandelier?
A ceiling light is fixed directly to the ceiling, without a rod or chain, and directs light downwards. A chandelier hangs in the room and occupies the space, often above a table. All models in this collection are round ceiling lights surface-mounted, with or without integrated LED.
Which ceiling light lights best?
The one whose power and diffusion match the surface and use. An integrated LED lights uniformly, while a model with several light points, such as the Magnum 4 lights, distributes light. For a living room or bedroom, a warm white between 2700 and 3500 K is more comfortable.
Which LED ceiling light to choose for a living room?
Look at the diameter, thickness and light output. A model like the Novis in Ø 48 cm lights a large room, while an ultra-slim one remains discreet on a low ceiling. Most LED references in the collection diffuse in warm white, 2700 to 3500 K.
How to choose a round ceiling light for a bedroom?
Favour a format of 26 to 30 cm, a warm white light between 2700 and 3500 K and a model that does not dazzle from the bed. An opal glass or acrylic diffuser softens the output. Black blends into a contemporary interior, white remains the most discreet.
Can a round ceiling light be installed in a bathroom?
Yes, provided the protection rating is respected. An IP44 ceiling light like the Galaxy or Ikaro resists water splashes and is suitable for exposed areas. Outside these areas, an IP20 model is sufficient: the majority of round ceiling lights in the collection are IP20.
