5 solutions for installing a light fixture on an off-center ceiling junction box

While lighting is essential to the harmony of your interior, it can often pose problems: poorly placed sockets, difficulties with ceiling mounting, unsightly connections... The choice of light fixture will depend on your space.

Dreaming of a beautiful pendant light but your wire outlet is poorly located? Don't panic; there are simple solutions without major work. Here are 5 decor tips to install your light fixture exactly where you want it!

Offset lighting solutions make choosing a fixture easier. Light moves and redefines the space. Practical and elegant, they reinvent your interior by simply adjusting the orientation of the light sources. Follow the guide!

First solution: the hook

This is the simplest method. Usually, the electrical supply is in the center of the ceiling. If your table is in a corner, the hook is the most practical solution.

First solution: the hook

The concept: attach a hook above your table. Run the wire from the wire outlet through this hook. For a decorative touch, leave some slack in the wire.

Second solution: the track

You can also opt for a track with several spotlights. Some tracks have an off-center electrical outlet at one end. This allows you to move the wire outlet and hide the power cable inside the track, which you can paint to blend in with the ceiling.

Second solution: the track

If you prefer a pendant light, choose a track that allows you to connect one or more. It is a simple and inexpensive solution for an off-center ceiling light, and it adds extra spotlights.

Third solution: the bar

Attach a bar to the ceiling, of the necessary length, near the wire outlet. Change your pendant light’s power cable if it is too short to be wrapped around this bar.

Fourth solution: the dropped ceiling

Create a dropped ceiling, such as a small MDF or plaster bulkhead of the desired size and shape, a few centimeters thick, to hide your wire connections and junction box.

This can create an architectural effect above a dining table. It is an idea from designer Marie-Josée Cyr, especially for concrete ceilings where embedding a connection is impossible. It is ideal for creating clusters of pendant lights. Let your creativity run wild!

Fifth solution: a specific pendant light

There are pendant lights designed to be offset from the wire outlet. They have a curved or articulated arm. The pendant section and the diffuser are moved away from the canopy and the attachment point. Original and stylish, these all-in-one fixtures are ideal. Some even allow you to adjust the position of the diffuser by several centimeters, or even rotate it 180 degrees, and raise or lower it! The light fixture thus adapts to your desires and changes in your furniture layout.
