Start by measuring the floor space and the clearance height. In a toilet, a compact ceiling light just 10 cm in diameter such as the Cristel, or a 40 cm globe like the Nerissa, solves the problem of a small volume; a pendant with an adjustable cable takes over when the ceiling is high, a wall light when the ceiling is already busy.

Which modern bathroom ceiling lights should you choose for a WC according to the size and height of the room?

A light for a WC is chosen on three measurements: the diameter available on the ceiling, the ceiling height and the free wall space. A narrow room takes a ceiling light 10 cm in diameter or a 40 cm globe; a taller volume accepts a pendant, a free wall calls for a wall light.

Modern ceiling light for a WC: the solution for small rooms

The ceiling light shines from the centre without putting anything on the floor. The Nerissa globe ceiling light in woven bamboo and the Bambusa ceiling light measure 40 cm in diameter by 16.5 cm high, with an E27 base. The Cristel LED ceiling light is only 10 cm in diameter and 4 cm high: it is the format that fits anywhere.

Modern light for a toilet: pendant or wall light?

A pendant is only justified if the clearance height allows it: the IP44 pendant with two opal globes drops its cable down to 148 cm, for a structure 50 cm long and 28 cm high, with a G9 base. On a wall, a wall light with a round backplate 20 cm across places the light at eye level and frees the ceiling. Both families can be found in all our toilet lights.

Pendant, ceiling light or wall light: which will light your toilet best?

The ceiling light sends a broad light from the centre and suits almost any surface. The pendant brings the source closer to the eye and serves tall volumes. The wall light frees the ceiling and places the light at eye level, which helps in a narrow room.

What an opal diffuser changes

An opal diffuser softens the light and removes the dazzling point: this is the case with the two globes of the Koban A pendant. The faceted glass of the Cristel, on the other hand, draws more graphic glints. The difference lies in the desired effect, not in the amount of light.

Where to place a wall light in a WC?

At eye level, on the wall facing the door or above a small unit, away from water splashes. The Galenor model fixes to the wall and leaves the ceiling bare. If you prefer to bring the source down, look at the pendants fixed to the ceiling.

Which light for a toilet: warm white or cool white?

The collection offers two temperatures: warm white 2700-3500 K, enveloping, and cool white 4500-6500 K, sharper. The LumiNova lamp with an LED ring lets you switch from one to the other and the Galaxy ceiling light is listed as warm white. The integrated LED keeps the chosen effect over time.

Warm white or cool white: which to choose?

In a small room with no window, warm white 2700-3500 K softens the angles and tires the eye less in the evening. Cool white 4500-6500 K gives a sharper light, useful in front of a mirror or in a very dark room. The dimmer, present on a large part of the selection, lets you adjust the intensity according to the time of day.

Dimmer: modulating the light in a small room

A dimmer-compatible model can be set just right in the evening and switches off without a jolt. The Koban A pendants and the Borra A wall lights state this compatibility, and so does the Cristel. Check that the wall dimmer accepts the chosen source, and pick a suitable bulb for the G9 bases.

How do you create a modern WC decoration?

You start from white, dominant in the collection, then add a single black or gold accent. One strong piece is enough: a brass wall light, a woven bamboo globe ceiling light or a pendant with opal globes. The globe, oval and round shapes give the contemporary line without overloading the room.

Modern decor: which colours for a toilet?

White holds the walls and the ceiling, black or gold signs the accent. The beige woven bamboo of the Nerissa warms up a very white interior, the brass of the Belen wall light works on a dark background. To modernise without any work, simply replace the light point and keep the rest understated. The worked finishes can be found in the luxury lights.

Original lights: daring to go for a globe or oval shape

The globe and the oval break away from the usual square ceiling light. The Brivelle oval pendant, 40 cm long with its ribbed diffuser, and the Nimbe ring pendant play that card. Other pieces with an original design are available if you are looking for something less classic.

Do you need an IP44 light in a toilet?

An IP20 model is suitable in a dry room away from water points. IP44, which resists splashes, is preferable near a washbasin or in a damp room. The collection offers both: Koban A IP44 pendant, Borra A IP44 wall lights, Galaxy ceiling light, and IP20 versions such as the Alvira pendant.

IP20 and IP44: what changes near a water point

The ingress protection rating describes resistance to dust and water, not the quality of the light. Near a washbasin or in a poorly ventilated room, an IP44 model such as the Kaida wall light takes over. A dry room is happy with IP20. The models rated IP44 also cover bathrooms.

G9 or E27 base: which to choose?

The G9 base, the majority in the collection, takes a small pin bulb and allows slim shapes. The E27 base of the Nerissa and Bambusa ceiling lights opens the door to a standard bulb listed at 40 W. The integrated LED, on the Cristel and the Galaxy ceiling light, removes the need to change bulbs.

How do you dress a high ceiling in a toilet?

When the ceiling is high, a pendant with an adjustable cable avoids a source lost up high. The Koban A pendants adjust down to 148 cm, for a structure 50 cm long and 28 cm high, with two opal globes on a G9 base, in IP20 or IP44. The light comes back down within sight.

Large chandelier for a high ceiling: two-globe pendant or designer piece?

Two opal globes spread the light over two points and suit a narrow volume. A ring structure takes up more width and asserts the style. For a hallway or an entrance, other pendant lights complete the series.

Toilet lights: adjusting the cable height

The cable is adjusted after installation, with the bulb in place, at a height that leaves the source visible without blocking the way: often around 60 to 90 cm below the ceiling, depending on the room. The two-globe pendants in the selection adjust down to 148 cm, which leaves some margin in a tall volume.

Which light to choose for the rest of the house: living room, bathroom, kitchen?

Reusing the same family of materials and colours from one room to another gives a coherent home. A living room chandelier, a pendant above the table or a bathroom light extend the style of the toilet, with no visual break between rooms.

Modern living room chandelier: extending the same line of light

In a living room, the piece must hold the volume: several globes or a ring structure, like the Nimbe pendant, in white, gold or black. It is the same vocabulary as in the toilet, with more scale. See the modern living room chandelier for the suitable formats.

Modern kitchen decor: reusing materials and colours

Above a worktop or an island, you keep the metal and the glass, in white, black or gold. The modern kitchen decor uses the same finishes, and the bathroom in designer lights closes the loop on damp rooms.

How do you install and maintain a toilet light?

Before any work, cut the power at the consumer unit. Fix the bracket according to the product dimensions: a wall light 20 cm in diameter by 20 cm high on the wall, a globe ceiling light 40 cm in diameter by 16.5 cm high on the ceiling. The G9 or E27 bases take a bulb, the LED ceiling lights have their source built in. The warranty is two years across the whole selection.

Dimmable light: what to check before buying

Not all models are compatible: only part of the selection states it, in particular the Koban A pendants, the Borra A wall lights and the Cristel. Also check the compatibility of the wall dimmer and the type of bulb, to be chosen among G9 and E27 bases. All our lights list these parameters product by product.

Maintaining metal, glass and woven bamboo finishes

A soft cloth is enough on metal and glass; avoid abrasive products on gold and brass finishes. The woven bamboo of the Nerissa and Bambusa ceiling lights is dusted dry, without moisture. The power is cut before any handling, and the diffuser is put back after it has dried completely.

Frequently asked questions

Which light should you choose for a WC?

It all depends on the space available. A compact ceiling light, such as the Cristel 10 cm in diameter or a 40 cm globe model, suits a small room. An adjustable pendant is installed if the height allows it, and a wall light frees the ceiling.

Are modern bathroom ceiling lights suitable for a small room?

Yes, it is the simplest format to install in a toilet: it fixes to the ceiling without taking up floor or wall space. The 40 cm globe models and the Cristel LED ceiling light 10 cm across target this use, with an E27 base or integrated LED.

Do you need an IP44 light in a toilet?

An IP20 model is suitable in a dry room away from water points. IP44, which resists splashes, is preferable near a washbasin or in a damp room. The collection offers both, as a pendant, a wall light and a ceiling light.

How do you choose a large chandelier for a high ceiling?

When the ceiling is high, a pendant with an adjustable cable avoids a source lost up high. The Koban A pendants adjust down to 148 cm, for a structure 50 cm long and 28 cm high, with two opal globes and a G9 base, in IP20 or IP44.

Where can you find original lights?

The collection brings together pieces that break away from the classic ceiling light: woven bamboo globe, faceted glass, opal globes on an oval structure, diamond-shaped LED ring. Globe, oval and round shapes dominate, in white, black, gold or beige.

Our advice for choosing
Des luminaires modernes pour les toilettes : suspensions à globes opalins, plafonniers en boule ou en verre facetté, appliques murales. Métal et verre dominent, en blanc, noir ou doré, avec culots G9 ou E27 et une partie de la sélection en IP44.
