Choose a black bathroom wall light based on the water zone it covers: IP44 near the sink, IP20 elsewhere, IP65 for outdoor exposure. The selection blends aluminium, metal and glass, with integrated LED or G9, E27, G4 or GU10 bulbs, to light the face without leaving shadows.
What is the ideal lighting for a bathroom?
A bathroom combines general lighting and face lighting. Around the mirror, a wall light in warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, avoids shadows on the face. In areas close to water, choose a model suited to humidity, preferably LED so you don't have to change bulbs.
Black bathroom wall lights
Matte black acts as a graphic line on a light or tiled wall, and the result stays understated when the room is small. Our selection mostly features metal and aluminium, two matte materials that wipe clean in one stroke. Black metal wall lights cover most models, with finishes ranging from solid black to black enhanced with gold. For a more dressed look, black and gold finishes warm the light without tinting it.
Warm white or cool white around the mirror?
Around the mirror, warm white gives a natural complexion and doesn't harden features. Cool white, whiter, lights more but tires the eyes in the morning: reserve it for work areas. About half of our models are listed as warm white, and LED bathroom wall lights fix this temperature once and for all.
What are the bathroom lighting trends?
The trend is toward black wall lights, in metal or aluminium, with simple shapes: long tubes, glass balls, adjustable rectangles. Matte black structures the wall, warm white warms the room. Models with integrated LED and adjustable versions, which let you direct the beam, are growing in our selection.
Black designer bathroom wall lights
Contemporary style dominates, followed by modern, then original, minimalist and industrial. In practice, this means 122 cm tubes like the Valena, or short geometric shapes like the Oculis. If you're looking for this clean register, browse black designer wall lights.
Black vintage bathroom wall lights
The vintage spirit here comes down to precise details: ball glass, brass, fabric shade, angled arms. The Kena combines glass and metal, the Qari aligns two opal tubes on a round base. These shapes are found in vintage-style models and in the industrial style, more raw.
How to choose the material and shape of your black wall light?
Metal and aluminium dominate our selection: matte, easy to wipe. Glass, often in ball form, provides diffused lighting; acrylic and fabric shades soften the light. In terms of shape, the tube lights widely, the ball lights all around, the square or round stays discreet above a mirror.
Metal, aluminium or glass: which material for a damp room?
Anodised or powder-coated aluminium resists steam well and cleans without aggressive products: the adjustable Avellane and the Tubaluce are both in aluminium, with a white diffuser. Ball glass, on the other hand, diffuses light widely but requires more regular wiping in a damp room. Brass wall lights play on warm, metallic contrast.
Tube, ball, square: which shape for which room?
A long tube goes above a large mirror or a double vanity; a ball lights all around, handy in a corner or entryway. A square model or cylindrical spot works above a small mirror, where space is tight. Here are the families in the collection, with their actual dimensions.
| Model | Format | Material | Socket or technology | IP | Style |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| Sakura | Ball, L 15 x W 17.5 x H 26.5 cm | Metal, glass | G9, 12 W, dimmer | IP44 | Japanese, minimalist |
| Avellane | Adjustable rectangular, L 600 mm | Aluminium | LED, 15 W | IP44 | Contemporary |

Which black wall light for a wet area: IP20, IP44, IP54 or IP65?
The IP rating indicates resistance to water and dust. In a bathroom, IP44 is suitable for splashes near the sink, IP54 or IP65 for more exposed areas or outdoors. Most of the selection is IP20, to be reserved for dry areas well away from water points.
What does the IP rating really protect against?
The first digit concerns solids, the second liquids. An IP44 protects against splashes from all directions, not immersion or a powerful jet: the wall light remains a wall fixture, never a waterproof object. An IP20 does not protect against water at all. So never consider a high IP as permission to direct the shower head at it.
Which IP44 or IP65 wall light to choose by zone?
Near the sink and mirror, aim for IP44: the Sakura in ball glass, the Delvino with long adjustable arm, the Avellane or the Tubaluce. For a damp entry wall or a sheltered outdoor area, IP54 is enough. For weather exposure, an IP65 like the Fenris is the right choice. IP44-rated models and IP65 protection can be browsed separately.
| IP rating | What it protects | Where to plan it | Models in the collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP20 | No protection against water splashes | Dry areas, away from water points, bedroom, hallway, living room | Livissa, Byre, Kena, Oculis, Luminéa Chic, Qari, Miyabi, Nerilo, Valena |
| IP44 | Protected against water splashes | Near the sink and mirror, in the bathroom | Sakura, Delvino, Avellane, Tubaluce |
| IP54 | Protected against dust and splashes | Areas exposed to humidity, entry, sheltered outdoor | Obelix, Extéris |
| IP65 | Protected against water jets | Exposed outdoor | Fenris |
Which black wall light for the toilet, hallway or living room?
The same black model can leave the bathroom: the hallway and entry gain a wall light that guides the step, the living room and bedroom an accent light in warm white. For these dry rooms, IP20 is enough, and dimmable models let you lower the intensity in the evening.
Toilet lighting and toilet decor: what light?
In the toilet, a compact wall light is enough: a small square, an adjustable cylindrical spot or a shallow glass ball, so as not to hinder movement. Warm white makes the room less cold than a neon. Wall lights for toilets group the short formats suited to these narrow spaces.
Modern kitchen decor or a hallway: how to match black wall lights?
In a hallway, several low sources are better than a single ceiling point: hallway models and staircase wall lights punctuate the flow. For a modern kitchen decor, matte black matches stainless steel and a light worktop. In the living room, prefer a long or adjustable model, like the living room wall lights or those in the bedroom. On a stripped piece of furniture, black contrasts sharply with light wood: this is the wood and metal match, found in black wood. A high ceiling, however, calls for a pendant to fill the volume: the wall light complements, it does not replace.
At what height and where to install your black wall light?
Around a mirror, the wall light is placed at face height, so as to light the face and not leave it in shadow. Two short models can frame the mirror, a long tube goes above. In a hallway, several low sources are better than a single light point.
Two wall lights or one around the mirror?
The mirror determines the format: a single wide wall light above suits a narrow mirror, two side wall lights suit a double vanity. A 122 cm tube like the Valena, a 600 mm rectangular like the Avellane or a 550 mm tube like the Tubaluce go above. A 26.5 cm high ball like the Sakura or a 13.5 cm cubic like the Livissa align on the sides.
Installing a wall light on a tiled wall: what to plan
Drill the tile with a suitable bit and masking tape to avoid chipping, and locate the electrical supply before drilling. Plan a flush box and a support suited to the wall, plaster or tile. On a damp wall, the finish of the cable passage matters as much as the model.
Integrated LED or interchangeable bulb: what to choose?
An integrated LED wall light cannot be changed: the light temperature is fixed. Models with G9, E27, G4 or GU10 sockets let you choose the bulb and warm or cool white. In our selection, LED is the majority and G9 remains the most common socket.
G9, E27, G4 or GU10: which socket to choose?
The G9, a small pin socket, equips the Livissa, Sakura, Miyabi and Oculis: bulb choice remains possible. The E27 screw, larger, concerns the Nerilo, Byre and Kena, and is replaced without difficulty. The G4, very small, is used for thin tubes like the Luminéa Chic and Qari. The GU10, bayonet, is common on adjustable models, including the Extéris.
When is an integrated LED wall light the right choice?
When you no longer want to think about it: the Valena (24 W), Avellane (15 W), Tubaluce (16 W), Obelix (10 W) and Fenris have their source built in. You get a thinner profile, with no visible bulb, and homogeneous light. On the other hand, the temperature is fixed at purchase: check it matches the room before choosing. About a third of our models accept a dimmer.
How to install and maintain a black wall light?
Installation requires an electrical supply in the right place, switched off at the breaker, and a support suited to the wall. For maintenance, a soft cloth is enough on aluminium or matte black metal, and glass cleans without abrasive products.
Connecting a wall light to an existing installation
Switch off the breaker, identify live, neutral and earth, then connect the wall light to the terminal block following the markings. If the cable outlet does not fall behind the model, move the support or extend cleanly in a box. If in doubt about the supply, call an electrician: Designix customer service can guide you on the product sheet contents.
Cleaning black metal and glass without tarnishing them
A slightly damp microfibre cloth is enough on aluminium and powder-coated metal; avoid abrasive sponges and alcohol on matte finishes. Ball glass cleans with warm soapy water, then dries to avoid marks. On a fabric shade, dust dry with a soft brush. To find the model that matches your room, browse the entire lighting universe.
How to choose according to your budget, without mistakes?
Budget depends on material, technology and finish: an aluminium wall light with integrated LED, a glass model with G9 bulb, a brass piece or fabric shade are not at the same level. Each product sheet shows the full composition, including material, socket and dimensions.
Accessible models or exceptional piece: what makes the difference
An entry-level aluminium LED model covers the essentials: homogeneous light, simple maintenance. An exceptional piece is recognised by its finish (brass, gold, worked glass), its signature format and sometimes a longer warranty. Look first at the socket and IP rating: they decide the use, before aesthetics. The wood version and the retro line sit in different registers, with no hierarchy of quality.
Delivery, payment and returns: Designix reassurance
Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service: you order with no risk. Take the time to check dimensions, socket and IP on the sheet, these are the three points that avoid a return. Frequently asked questions
What is the ideal lighting for a bathroom?
It combines general ceiling light and face light around the mirror, in warm white from 2700 to 3500 K to avoid grey complexions. In areas close to water, choose a model with a suitable IP rating, IP44 minimum near the sink, and preferably LED.
What are the bathroom lighting trends?
Matte black in metal or aluminium, simple geometric shapes, long tubes and glass balls. Adjustable models and integrated LEDs are growing, as are brass or gold finishes that warm the black. Warm white remains the dominant temperature in the collection.
Toilet lighting: which black wall light to choose?
In the toilet, a compact black wall light is enough: a small square model, an adjustable cylindrical spot or a glass ball. The room being dry, IP20 is suitable. Choose warm white for soft light and a shallow model so as not to hinder movement.
Living room wall lights: can you take a black bathroom model?
Yes, many models also suit the living room and bedroom, where they provide accent light in warm white. The long format, like a 122 cm tube or an adjustable arm, lights a wall or a painting. IP20 is enough outside wet areas, and the dimmer lets you lower the intensity.
How to choose the light colour for living room and bathroom?
Warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, remains the most suitable for relaxation and preparation rooms: it renders complexions naturally and warms matte black. Cool white, from 4500 to 6500 K, suits work areas. Our selection is mostly warm white.
