Choose an IP44 rating as soon as a wall light comes near a water source: sink, mirror, around the bathtub. In this collection, most models are made of aluminium or metal, with a glass diffuser and integrated LED lighting, in a tube, sphere or cylinder shape depending on the wall to dress.
What is an IP44 bathroom wall light?
The IP protection rating has two digits. The first covers solid objects and dust, the second water. The second 4 corresponds to water splashes: a splash on the casing must not reach live parts. This is the level recommended around a sink, a mirror or a bathtub, where water sprays without being projected under pressure. It dominates the IP44 bathroom wall lights in the shop.
IP44 bathroom wall light: what the rating protects against
An IP44 wall light withstands splashes from washing hands, condensation in a heated room and ambient humidity. It is not designed to take a direct jet, hence the existence of higher ratings. The principle is simple: the casing and seals prevent water from travelling inside. The collection also includes higher-rated references for heavily splashed areas.
IP44, IP45 or IP65: what is the difference near a shower?
IP45 protects against stronger splashes, IP65 against water jets. Near a shower, go up a notch. Elsewhere in the room, IP44 is enough. A few IP20 models, with no water protection, remain reserved for dry rooms.
| Rating | Protection | Where to use it | Presence in the collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP20 | No water protection | Dry room, never near a water source | A few references |
| IP44 | Protected against water splashes | Mirror wall, vanity top, around the bathtub | The vast majority of models |
| IP45 | Reinforced splash protection | Immediate vicinity of a water source | Luminance, CristalLumière |
| IP65 | Protected against water jets | Shower area, very damp room | A few models |
Which IP44 wall light format above a mirror?
Above a mirror, a linear LED tube lights without glare. On each side, an opal sphere in G9 gives a soft light. An adjustable bar takes over when the light needs to point down onto the vanity top rather than wash the wall.
IP44 bathroom wall lights: tube, sphere or LED bar?
The tube dresses a large mirror with even light along its entire length. In the collection, the Sereva LED bar reaches 900 mm long by 62 mm high, the Caldanara 600 mm. The Ivlino opal sphere measures 160 mm in diameter and works as a single wall light. The adjustable Avellane wall light directs its beam downwards, over 600 mm long. The Chromius chrome bar plays the same length in a grey finish.
What length above a vanity unit?
Aim for about two thirds of the mirror width for a centred tube, and a short format on either side when the wall is narrow. A vertical cylinder like the Valérié, 310 mm high by 93 mm, slips into a corner. White and grey models blend into a light wall, useful in a small room.
| Format | Socket | Where it works | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Linear LED tube | Integrated LED | Large mirror, straight wall, diffuse light | Sereva 900 mm, Caldanara 600 mm, Ago |
| Adjustable bar | Integrated LED | Downward lighting, vanity top | Avellane, Delvino |
| Opal sphere | G9 | Each side of the mirror, as a single wall light | Ivlino, Kuul D IP44 |
| Vertical cylinder | Integrated LED | Wall corner, narrow column | Valérié, Tubaluce 550 mm |
Which light for the bathroom: warm white or cool white?
A warm white of 2700 to 3500 K gives a light close to a classic bulb, comfortable morning and evening in front of the mirror. A cool white of 4500 to 6500 K makes skin tones more neutral and suits a make-up area. Both exist in the collection, sometimes on the same reference.
Light colour for the living room: how to choose it?
The logic changes little from one room to another. A warm white relaxes and accompanies reading or evenings, a cool white lights a work area more sharply. A bathroom wall light fits perfectly alongside the wall lights for the living room if its format suits you.
G9, E27 or integrated LED bulb: what does the socket change?
Integrated LED avoids changing a bulb at height. G9 lets you choose the light temperature, E27 accepts common bulbs, G4 animates slim arms, GU10 mainly equips outdoor fixtures. The LED models for the bathroom remain the most numerous.
Where to install an IP44 wall light in the bathroom?
The wall light is fixed to the wall at working height: above or on each side of the mirror, on the wall opposite the bathtub, next to the vanity top. It takes no floor space and adds no visible cable if the power supply already exists on the wall.
WC lighting: which wall light to choose?
In the toilet, a compact wall light is enough: a short tube or a small G9 sphere sits above the sink, high enough not to cast the shadow of your face. Black, white and grey stay discreet on a narrow wall. See the wall lights for toilets in the selection.
Black IP44 bathroom wall light: where to place it in a dark interior?
On a dark wall, a black wall light blends into the paint and the light becomes the only relief. Place it at an angle rather than facing the entrance, to avoid glare. The same black model fits into an entrance, a modern hallway or near a covered terrace.
IP44 wall light in black, white or gold: which colour and material?
Black blends into a dark wall or graphic tiling, white disappears on a light wall, gold adds an accent when the taps are already gold. One rule: match the colour of the accessories rather than adding a third one.
Black IP44 bathroom wall light: with which tiling?
Black holds up on white metro tiles, grey polished concrete or a large anthracite format. It marks less than a light wall light on a dark wall, where it would float like a stain. The black wall lights and the black metal models cover this need.
Aluminium, metal, glass or crystal: which material for humidity?
Aluminium and metal dominate the collection, with diffusers in glass, crystal, steel or stainless steel. These materials do not fear ambient humidity and clean in one wipe. Cut crystal suits more dressed rooms, opal glass suits understated ones.
How to install and maintain an IP44 wall light?
Mark the height and axis with a level, check the nature of the support, drill with suitable plugs, cut the power before connecting. The wall light is then fixed to its backplate, with the diffuser put back last. No standard to remember: the model's instructions give the wiring diagram.
At what height should a wall light be placed above the mirror?
Place it at working height, so as to light the mirror without casting the shadow of your face. On a linear model, centre the bar in relation to the mirror. On two side wall lights, align them at the same height, on either side, and mark the holes before drilling.
How to maintain a bathroom wall light?
A soft cloth is enough. Glass, crystal or aluminium diffusers clean without abrasive, without solvent and without a direct water jet. Cut the power before any handling of the diffuser, especially on an integrated LED that cannot be replaced.
Can an IP44 wall light be installed in a living room or bedroom?
Yes. The rating protects against water splashes, which is no problem in a dry room: a bathroom wall light can light a living room, a bedroom, a hallway or an entrance. This is useful when you want the same model in several rooms or near an open window.
Living room wall lights and decor for a modern kitchen: which model to choose?
For the kitchen and worktop, an adjustable bar lights the preparation without reflection. In a living room, a long tube or an opal sphere sets a soft light. The design selection for the bathroom, the vintage series and the retro line open other style paths.
Bathroom, bedroom, hallway: should you use the same model everywhere?
Not necessarily. The same model from the collection suits a bedroom as well as a hallway, but the installation height and format change. Keep the same colour family from one room to another, and vary the format according to the available wall length.
Dimmer, warranty and budget: which criteria to look at before buying?
Four points decide, in order: the format in relation to the mirror, the socket, the light temperature and the control. The rest, colour and finish, is chosen last once these points are validated.
Dimmer and warranty: what to check on the product page?
Not all wall lights can be controlled with a dimmer: this is the case for a minority of references. Check the mention on the page before installing a dimmer switch. The warranty ranges from two to five years depending on the models. The dimmer versions are grouped in a dedicated selection.
What budget for a bathroom wall light?
The collection brings together affordable models and more elaborate pieces, in glass or crystal. The difference lies in the material, the length of the diffuser and the presence of a control. A short aluminium tube remains the base, a cut crystal bar the exceptional piece.

Frequently asked questions about IP44 wall lights
Can an IP44 wall light be installed in a living room?
Yes. In a dry room, an IP44 brings nothing more than an IP20, but it does not get in the way either. The choice is then made on format, colour and dimmer if you want to modulate the lighting.
In the toilet, which wall light to choose?
A compact model is enough: a short LED tube or a small G9 sphere. Place it above the sink, high enough not to cast the shadow of your face on the mirror, in white, black or grey depending on the wall.
Black IP44 bathroom wall light: which socket to choose?
All three exist: integrated LED, G9 or E27 depending on the reference. Integrated LED avoids changing a bulb at height, G9 lets you choose the light temperature, E27 accepts common bulbs.
At what height should a wall light be placed above the bathroom mirror?
At working height, so as to light the mirror without shadow on your face. On a linear model, centre the bar on the mirror. Mark the holes with a level before drilling, with the power cut.
Which wall light format for a small bathroom?
A short format: LED tube, opal sphere or vertical cylinder rather than a long bar. A white, grey or aluminium model stays discreet on a light wall and lightens the room. The Kuul D IP44 sphere fits within 15 cm wide.
