Allow one lamp per seat or per step, in a square or wide-base format, and choose IP65 if the patio is open. A solar panel recharges the battery during the day, the lamp switches on by itself at dusk, with no cable or plug: the lamp moves and settles wherever the evening continues.
Which solar patio table lamp should you choose for a wooden deck?
On a wooden deck, a solar table lamp comes down to three criteria: a stable format, square or wide-based, that will not tip over between two boards; an IP65 rating if the patio is exposed; and a material, bamboo or wood, that blends with the boards.
Solar outdoor table lamps for a wooden deck
Place the lamp at the edge of the boards, near the bench or the table: the raking light highlights the grain of the wood instead of flattening it. Large formats take the place of a lantern, compact ones slip onto a step. Nordic designs stay understated on a pale patio, while a more graphic piece can be found among the designer table lamps for the living room. On size, the real dimensions help you decide: 16 x 16 x 36 cm for Solella and its bamboo slats, 19 x 30 cm for Novtoreta, 27.8 x 40.7 cm for Atrium, Art Deco ribbed base.
How do you place the lamp without drilling into the patio?
No drilling is needed: these lamps sit directly on the boards, on a step or on a ledge, and move as the evening goes on. The only useful step is to angle the panel towards daylight, without too long a shadow. For an outdoor meal, Cubella, in three square formats, offers the most stable base where the wood is uneven. A compact model of 10 x 30 cm such as Soleila also sits on a low wall.
How does a solar outdoor lamp work and does it need a plug?
No plug is needed: a solar panel recharges the battery during the day, the lamp switches on by itself at nightfall. This is what sets these models, all solar, apart from a classic outdoor light, and what lets you move them freely without running an extension lead across the patio.
How do you connect several lamps to a single power supply?
The question does not arise: each lamp is self-contained, powered by its own panel and battery. Several lamps can therefore sit on the same patio with no wiring, no power supply and no circuit overload. This is also what makes installation possible on a remote patio, a balcony or a garden area far from the house. Part of the collection runs on integrated LED, an E27 bulb model remains available for anyone who wants to choose their own bulb, to be found among the designer LED table lamps.
What changes in use
You no longer think about switching on or off: at dusk the lamp lights up, the battery does the rest. Jomara and its E27 socket leaves the bulb choice open, Novtoreta, the portable solar lamp, travels from one table to another. These two IP65 plastic models handle an open patio with no special care. Warm white, neutral white or cool white: which light colour for a patio?
Most of these lamps light in warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, the shade that most naturally extends a dinner outdoors. Some models, such as Jomara, Novtoreta and Cubella, also offer neutral white from 3500 to 4500 K and cool white from 4500 to 6500 K, for sharper lighting.
Light colour for living room and patio: how do you choose?
Warm white gives a golden light, the one you want around a coffee table, an armchair or a late dining corner. Neutral white lights more sharply: handy for a games table, reading or a tray you want to see clearly. Cool white, between 4500 and 6500 K, stays functional and suits a path or a utility dining corner. All three temperatures are available on Jomara, Novtoreta and Cubella; the other models stay in warm white.
How do you vary the light intensity?
The dimmer exists only on some models, including Soleila with its openwork shade, in black metal and IP44. Elsewhere, intensity is adjusted by use: move the lamp closer to the table, place two rather than one, or play with formats. For other lighting directions, the modern table lamps for the living room complete the setup indoors.
Which IP rating should you choose for a lamp placed outdoors?
IP65 on an open patio, where the lamp takes rain and dust; IP44 or IP54 if it is under an awning, a porch or a pergola. Most models in this collection are IP65, the others IP44 and IP54, which leaves room when choosing the location.
IP65, IP44, IP54: what it changes day to day
The rating shows what the lamp withstands: IP65 protects against dust and water jets, IP44 against limited splashes, IP54 against dust and splashing. In practice, a shower during the meal means bringing in neither the IP65 models (Jomara, Novtoreta, Cubella, Atrium, Artema), nor the IP44 models placed under cover such as Soleila and Mireva. An IP54 lamp such as Solella holds up in a sheltered but damp corner.
| Exposure of the lamp | Rating to favour | What is protected | Models concerned |
|---|---|---|---|
| Open patio, exposed to rain | IP65 | dust and water jets | Jomara, Novtoreta, Cubella, Atrium, Artema |
| Under an awning, a porch or a pergola | IP44 | limited water splashes | Soleila, Mireva |
| Sheltered but damp corner | IP54 | dust and splashing | Solella |
Should you bring the lamp in when it rains?
No, not if the rating matches the real exposure of the lamp. An IP65 model placed in the open stays outside without a problem; an IP44 model is happy with an awning or a pergola. If in doubt about a very wet spot, the rating is repeated on every product page, and the black lighting for the living room gives an idea of the dark finishes that age well outdoors.
Plastic, metal or bamboo: which material for a patio lamp?
Plastic dominates, light and maintenance-free, often white; metal brings a denser finish, in black or beige; bamboo and wood, as on Solella, warm up a patio with natural boards. None of these materials needs special treatment beyond a gentle clean.
How do you clean and care for a solar patio lamp?
A soft cloth is enough for the body and the shade. The solar panel is cleaned with clear water: a film of dust or pollen reduces the charge and the light becomes weaker. Avoid abrasive products on metal and bamboo, and store the lightest models in case of strong wind if the patio is very exposed. For versatile use on a worktop or a well-lit desk corner, white plastic remains the simplest.
Do these materials last the season outdoors?
Water resistance is read on the IP rating, not on the material: it is the only reliable guide provided. Soleila combines metal and IP44, Artema combines plastic and metal in IP65, Mireva plays the ribbed amber card in IP44. Black or beige metal finishes pair well with metal table lamps, indoors as well as out.
How do you match these lamps to the style of the patio and the house?
These lamps divide between a contemporary style, often square, white or amber, and an Art Deco style, beige, with a ribbed base and large format, such as Atrium and Artema. Solella's bamboo plays the natural card, while Soleila's openwork black stays discreet on a dark patio.
How do you extend a modern kitchen decor out to the patio?
Pick up the shades and lines of the neighbouring room: a kitchen with pale fronts calls for white, a dark kitchen accepts black or amber. This continuity of modern kitchen decor reads at a glance when the kitchen table and the patio table share the same family of shapes. For white, see the white designer colours; for dark, the modern black table lamps.
White, beige, black or amber: which lamp colour outdoors?
White blends in and lights widely, Art Deco beige structures a large table, black disappears on a patio at night, amber warms the light. Atrium and Artema, in beige with a ribbed base, play the statement piece; Cubella, in three white squares, multiplies easily along a wall. For more style ideas, browse our lighting collections.
Can a solar outdoor lamp be used as a bedside or living room lamp?
Yes: all the models in this collection are suitable for outdoor use as well as for the living room and bedroom. Once charged in the sun, the lamp sits on a bedside table or a windowsill, with no visible cable. The compact formats, from 10 x 30 to 19 x 30 cm, suit this best.
Designer table lamps for bedroom and living room: how do you integrate them?
Recharge the lamp outside during the day, bring it in at night: it switches on by itself and moves from the coffee table to the bedside. A warm white model works anywhere, Mireva's amber warms a wooden interior. To complete a room, the table lamps for the bedroom and the LED table lamps for the bedroom show other options with no visible wiring.
Which format for a small bedside table?
Allow 10 x 30 cm for Soleila, 16 x 25 cm for Mireva, 19 x 30 cm for Novtoreta: these three formats fit on a narrow bedside table. Atrium, at 27.8 x 40.7 cm, and Artema, 27.9 x 44.3 cm, need a large surface or the floor. On light, Jomara, Novtoreta and Cubella offer all three temperatures, useful for switching from a reading mood to a relaxing one.

Frequently asked questions
How do you connect several lamps to a single power supply?
With solar lamps, the question does not arise: each lamp is self-contained, powered by its own panel and battery. Several lamps can therefore be placed on the same patio with no wiring, no power supply and no circuit overload.
Solar outdoor table lamps for a wooden deck: how do you install them?
They sit directly on the boards or on a step, with no drilling or fixing, and move as you please. For a wooden deck, a square format such as Cubella or a wide base such as Atrium finds its place easily, with the panel turned towards daylight.
Solar outdoor table lamps for a solar patio: do they need full sun?
The panel must receive daylight to recharge the battery: an open exposure, without too long a shadow, is preferable. If the patio is very shaded, the lamp can be moved during the day to a brighter spot, then brought back in the evening.
Do you need an IP65 or IP44 lamp for a patio?
IP65 suits an open patio: the lamp resists dust and water jets. IP44 is enough if the lamp is placed under an awning, a porch or a pergola, sheltered from direct rain. The rating is shown on every product page.
How do you clean a solar patio table lamp?
A soft cloth is enough for the body and the shade. The solar panel is cleaned with clear water to stay efficient: a film of dust or pollen reduces the charge. Avoid abrasive products on metal and bamboo.
