A cordless rechargeable lamp runs on a battery, charges by USB cable and needs no electrical outlet: charge it before first use, then move it from room to room. This collection brings together pendants, floor lamps, table lamps and wall lights, from wood and rope to recycled plastic and metal.
How does a cordless rechargeable lamp work?
A cordless rechargeable lamp carries a battery powered by USB cable: it lights without being plugged in, then recharges on a socket or a computer. In this selection, the light sources are mostly LED, with a few models using an E27 or GU10 base. Once charged, the lamp moves freely from one room to another.
Rechargeable lamps: how the battery works
The battery replaces the mains connection. That is what lets you fit a wall light in a hallway with no socket, or carry a floor lamp down to the garden in the evening. Our selection of rechargeable lamps covers four families: pendants, floor lamps, table lamps and wall lights. The actual bases range from integrated LED, by far the most common, to E27 and GU10.
Cordless light: where and when to recharge
Recharging is done by USB cable, on a wall socket, a computer or a power bank. It is best planned in a quiet moment, in the evening once the lights are off. No battery life is stated on these listings, so plan a charge before a dinner on the terrace. For a permanent light point, compare with our catalogue of wired light fittings.
Which cordless rechargeable light should you choose for each room?
The choice depends first on the place: living room and bedroom dominate in this selection, with floor lamps, pendants in rope or natural fibres, table lamps and wall lights. Terrace and outdoor areas call for IP54 or IP65 protection, while living room, bedroom and office are fine with an IP20 rating.
Cordless rechargeable floor lamp or table lamp?
A floor lamp lights a wide area and stands on the ground: the Amalfi dimmable floor lamp, in wood, measures 49 x 148 cm and is rated IP54. A table lamp moves around a table or a shelf, like the Sisine 30 table lamp, at 25.5 x 32.5 cm.
Cordless rechargeable pendant: for which room?
Above a table, it replaces the missing light point. The Saona 50 rope pendant measures 31 x 49 cm, is rated IP54 and takes a dimmer. For an open kitchen, other models are gathered in our ceiling pendants, and floor lamps complete a living room.
| Room or use | Type of light | IP protection | Materials and colours | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Living room | Floor lamp, pendant, table lamp | IP20 to IP54 | Wood, rope, plastic, metal; white, beige, black | Lola 165 Pop |
| Bedroom | Table lamp, wall light, floor lamp | IP20 to IP54 | Wood, rope, plastic; beige, black, cream | Bossa 30 |
| Dining room and kitchen | Pendant | IP54 | Rope, wood, recycled PVC; white, green, taupe | Saona 50 |
| Terrace and conservatory | Floor lamp, pendant, portable lamp | IP54 and IP65 | Plastic, wood, rope; anthracite, yellow, green | Amalfi |
| Hallway, corridor, staircase | Wall light, pendant | IP20 to IP54 | Plastic, metal, rope; black, anthracite | Orena |
| Office | Articulated floor lamp, wall light | IP20 | Plastic, metal; cream, silver, bronze | Vellea |
Indoor or outdoor: which IP rating for a cordless light?
The IP rating tells you where the light can live: IP20 for sheltered indoor use, IP54 for a terrace, a conservatory or a damp room, IP65 for exposed outdoor areas. Here, IP54 dominates, ahead of IP20 and then IP65. Check the IP before taking a rechargeable lamp outside.
IP54: what it allows on a terrace
With IP54, the light resists dust and water splashes: it can stay outside in light rain, but not under a jet. That is the rating of the Sisine 30 table lamp, the Saona 50 and Syros pendants, and the Amalfi floor lamp. A kitchen or dining room is handled with our modern kitchen lights.
IP65 and solar: the models made for outdoors
IP65 allows water jets: that is the rating of the Lola 165 Pop floor lamp in IP65 and of the Pinéa decoration. Some models combine IP65 with solar technology, useful when there is no socket outside. To complete a garden, see our modern outdoor lighting.
| Rating | Where to install it | What it means | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP20 | Living room, bedroom, office, hallway, toilet | Indoor use, sheltered from splashes | Orena, Hélios, Vellea, Kalranora |
| IP54 | Terrace, conservatory, kitchen, dining room | Resists water splashes and dust | Saona 50, Conta Hang, Syros, Amalfi, Sisine 30 |
| IP65 | Exposed outdoor areas, garden | Resists water jets | Lola 165 Pop, Pinéa |
How can you have light without electricity or building work?
With no socket and no cable to run, the answer lies in the battery: the light recharges by USB cable and then lights on its own. In this collection, that covers pendants, floor lamps, table lamps and wall lights, including outdoor models rated IP54 or IP65.
Battery light: for rooms with no socket
Cellar, garage, corridor, dressing room or rented flat: a rechargeable wall light fixes to the wall where wiring is missing. The Orena wall light with flexible arm uses a GU10 base, is rated IP20 and is intended for corridors, staircases, dressing rooms and toilets. Our toilet lights answer the same need in a small space.
Portable lighting: inside and out
A table lamp travels from the living room to the garden table with no cable to watch. The Hélios light object, LED and IP20, sits on a table or fixes as a wall light, in a living room or a bedroom. Look for a striking piece in our original design pieces.
Wired wall light or cordless wall lamp: which to choose?
A wired wall light connects to the mains: it requires an electrical supply and building work. A cordless wall light recharges and fixes where wiring is missing, in a corridor, staircase, dressing room or toilet. The choice depends above all on whether a socket is nearby.
Wired wall light: what it demands in terms of work
Drilling the wall, running a conduit, fitting a switch: the wired version needs an electrician if the point does not exist. In return, it lights with no charging limit and is controlled at the wall. In a damp room, it is chosen with a suitable rating, as with our design bathroom lights.
Wired or rechargeable wall lamp: the criteria
Three points decide it: the presence of a socket, how often it is switched on, and the style you want. A corridor lit every evening copes poorly with repeated charging, while an occasional dressing room takes to it very well. On finish, the Designix lighting world lines up both solutions in comparable materials.
Which materials, colours and shapes for stylish, original lights?
This selection leans mostly on wood and plastic, then rope, metal and aluminium, in contemporary, modern and bohemian styles. Round shapes dominate, ahead of cages, tubes and ovals. The most common colours are white and beige, then black, yellow and green.
Original lights: round, cage, tube or oval shapes
A round shape softens a very angular interior, a cage shows the bulb and visually lightens, a tube lengthens a low room, an oval slims a large table. These silhouettes appear in our original design pieces, to pair with a green light fitting when the decor lacks contrast.
Stylish lights: beige, white or wood depending on the room
Beige and white cross rooms without weighing them down, while wood brings the warmth a very white room lacks. A beige light fitting suits the living room as well as the bedroom, while wood and black sets a sharp contrast. For a more statement room, look at our high-end models.
Warm white, neutral white or cool white: which light for a portable fitting?
Warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, lights meals, the bedroom and evening terraces; neutral white, from 3500 to 4500 K, suits the office and the kitchen; cool white, from 4500 to 6500 K, is reserved for outdoor areas and traffic zones. Some models offer both.
Warm white: living room, bedroom and dining table
Around 2700 to 3500 K, the light leans to amber and relaxes the mood of a dinner. It is the logical setting for a bedside table lamp or a dining room pendant, and the choice of our LED living room lights. A table pendant benefits from staying in this range, including above a wooden top.
Neutral white and cool white: office and outdoors
Between 3500 and 4500 K, the light stays white without turning blue and tires the eye less on a screen. Above 4500 K, the lighting cools and secures a hallway, a staircase or a garden. The Lola 165 Pop floor lamp offers both warm white and cool white on the same model.
How to install, recharge and care for a cordless rechargeable light?
Installation comes down to fixing the bracket or setting the light down, then charging it by USB cable before use: no mains connection. For care, a soft cloth is enough on wood, rope and recycled plastic. Models rated IP54 and IP65 resist water splashes.
Fixing a cordless wall light or pendant
Mark the height before drilling: a wall light is often placed at shoulder height in a corridor, a pendant around 70 to 80 cm above a table top, to be adjusted to the room. Check the size of the model, for example the 16 cm height of the Orena wall light, then screw on the supplied bracket.
Recharging and cleaning: the right habits
Plug in the USB cable until fully charged before first use, then recharge as soon as the brightness drops. A soft, dry cloth is enough on wood, rope and recycled plastic; on an outdoor model, rinse with clean water only if the IP rating allows it.
Where to buy cordless rechargeable lights?
The selection can be browsed online, with secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service. Each listing states material, dimensions, base, protection rating and colour, so you can compare before ordering. Those looking for a Lyon lighting shop find the same product information here, without travelling.
Comparing online or in store: the useful criteria
Four pieces of information are enough to decide: the IP rating for the room, the colour temperature, the floor or wall dimensions, and whether a dimmer is included. These details appear on every listing, including for our modern dining room lights and the other families in the shop.
Clearance: spotting affordable models
A Lyon lighting clearance or an online Lyon lighting shop is mainly useful for finding a model from a past season at a softer price. The useful reflex stays the same: check base, IP and dimensions before confirming, because a clearance model is not always restocked. Affordable models remain visible in the grid.
Before ordering
Choose the type of light, then the fixing, then the light itself. A model named on this page can be found by its name in the grid. The collection holds 253 products: enough to confirm the Saona 50 rope pendant or a table lamp without hesitation.
Frequently asked questions
How can I have light without electricity?
A rechargeable light runs on a battery: it charges by USB cable and then lights without being plugged in. So there is no socket nearby and no cable to run. This collection therefore covers a room with no electrical supply, a corridor, a staircase or a terrace, indoors as well as outdoors depending on the stated IP rating.
Which cordless light for a toilet?
A rechargeable wall light suits a toilet: the Orena wall light, with a flexible arm and GU10 base, is intended for toilets, corridors, staircases and dressing rooms, rated IP20. A cordless table lamp also works. Check the size before fixing the bracket.
Can a wired wall light be replaced by a cordless one?
Yes, provided you accept recharging: a cordless wall light fixes to the wall with no electrical supply and recharges by USB cable, whereas a wired wall light stays connected to the mains. The result is comparable, but the source differs, integrated LED on one side, E27 or GU10 base on the other.
Is there a cordless rechargeable ceiling light or chandelier?
Rechargeable lighting fixed high up takes the form of a cordless pendant here, such as Saona 50, Conta Hang or Syros: it is mounted on the ceiling but runs on a battery, with no electrical supply. Several of these pendants are rated IP54, so they can be used on a terrace or in a conservatory.
Can a cordless rechargeable light be used outdoors?
Only if the protection rating allows it: IP54 for a terrace, a conservatory or a sheltered spot, IP65 for exposed outdoor areas. Otherwise, it is better kept indoors. In this collection, the Lola 165 Pop floor lamp and the Pinéa decoration are rated IP65, and several pendants are rated IP54.
