A rechargeable table lamp works without a cable: its battery recharges via USB or solar panel, and it moves from the bedside to the terrace in one gesture. This collection brings together models with measured power ratings from 1.5 to 4.3 W, protected from IP20 to IP65, in plastic, aluminium, wood or rattan.

What is a rechargeable cordless table lamp?

A rechargeable table lamp runs on an integrated battery: you use it without a cable plugged in permanently, then recharge it via mains or USB. Lighting is mostly provided by low-consumption LEDs, in wood, rattan, metal or plastic finishes. Just under half of the references accept a dimmer, useful for going from a night light to a reading light without changing object.

LED battery table lamp: what cordless power changes

The absence of a wire changes the use before the spec sheet. You place the lamp where the need appears in the evening, move it when the room changes function, take it onto the terrace without running an extension lead. The battery, however, means thinking about recharging: a model with a slowly draining battery suits a reading corner better than an entrance where the lamp stays on for several hours. On the source side, the collection mixes integrated non-replaceable LEDs and one model with an E27 base, the white star solar lamp, whose source is replaceable. Neither solution is superior: the integrated LED simplifies, the E27 base leaves the bulb choice open.

Design rechargeable table lamp: bedside, table and reading corner formats

Formats are read in centimetres on the spec sheets. A contemporary transparent bedside lamp of 11 x 20 cm slips onto a small nightstand, while a model of 25 x 51.3 cm like the art deco ball lamp takes the stage. In between, heights of 16 to 36 cm cover the coffee table and the reading corner. To go further on bedroom formats, browse the design bedside lamps and the LED lighting for the bedroom.

How to recharge a table lamp: USB, battery or solar?

Recharging is done by USB cable or solar panel depending on the model. The cable suits indoors and terraces near a socket; solar frees you from any socket and takes over on a balcony, a threshold or a garden. The choice therefore depends less on the lamp than on where it will spend its evenings, and on the light available during the day.

USB rechargeable table lamp

A USB rechargeable table lamp plugs into a phone charger or a USB port, which makes it simple to recharge indoors, near a sofa or a desk. It is also the most practical solution on a covered terrace equipped with a socket. The cable disappears once charging is complete: nothing trails on the floor during use.

Battery or solar: which solution for outdoors

For an outdoor space without a socket, solar is the only realistic option. The white cube solar lamp and the bamboo slat solar lamp work this way, with a panel that recharges the battery during the day. Compare the spec sheets and today's prices directly in the collection grid: each reference shows its power mode and its protection.

Which IP rating to choose for a rechargeable lamp?

The IP rating indicates resistance to dust and water. In this collection, IP54 is the most widespread rating and suits a terrace or balcony, IP65 equips the most exposed models, and IP44 corresponds to a sheltered use, under an awning or near a door. An IP20 remains a dry indoor model, not to be left outside.

Choosing your IP protection rating
IP rating Where to place it What the rating covers
IP20 Dry indoor, sheltered Protection against solid objects, not against water
IP44 Covered terrace, sheltered entrance Protection against water splashes
IP54 Terrace, balcony, sheltered outdoor Protection against dust and water splashes
IP65 Exposed outdoor Protection against dust and water jets

IP44 and IP54: covered terrace or outdoor

IP44 stands up to splashes, not to driving rain: it targets a sheltered entrance, a balcony under an awning. IP54 adds dust and remains the best compromise for an open terrace in summer. The woven rattan drop lamp and the woven rope lamp belong to this family.

IP65: for a cordless lamp exposed to rain

For a threshold, a low wall or a garden table without protection, aim for IP65. The conical nomad lamp, the solar cube lamp and the ribbed ovoid lampshade lamp fall into this case. Find the other outdoor references on all Designix light fixtures.

Which light to choose: warm white, neutral white or cool white?

Colour temperature is read in kelvins. Warm white (2700 to 3500 K) gives a light close to the filament bulb and largely dominates the collection: bedside, dinner, relaxation corner. Neutral white (3500 to 4500 K) and cool white (4500 to 6500 K) are whiter, therefore more suited to reading, working or a passage you want sharp. A few models offer the three shades to choose from.

Light temperatures and uses
Shade Range Atmosphere
Warm white 2700 to 3500 K Bedside, table, relaxation corner
Neutral white 3500 to 4500 K Reading, work, table setting
Cool white 4500 to 6500 K Circulation, entrance, sharp light

Warm white 2700 to 3500 K for a relaxation corner

At 2700 or 3000 K, the light leans towards orange: it does not tire the eye in the evening and warms a wood or rattan material. This is the shade of the woven cage lamp and the black openwork solar lampshade lamp. To compose a soft atmosphere, complete with the Nordic style models and the linen lampshades, which also filter the light.

The models that switch from warm white to cool white

Some references combine several shades on the same lamp: the conical nomad lamp, the white cube solar lamp, the white star lamp and the art deco ball lamp. This is useful when the object changes place, night light at the bedside then sharp light on a desk. In that case, the shade is set when switching on, without a second lamp.

Where to install a rechargeable table lamp: outdoor, terrace or entrance?

The rechargeable lamps in the collection are placed outdoors, on a terrace or near an entrance. As they do not depend on any socket, they follow the uses: on a garden table, at the edge of a staircase, or next to the door to welcome visitors in the evening. The room is chosen first according to exposure to rain, then according to the desired effect.

Cordless lamp for terrace and garden table

On a garden table, you look for a low, filtered light that does not dazzle the guests. The oval rattan lamp and the bamboo slat lamp cut the light into fine strips, which gives a warm rendering without a direct bright point. Check the IP rating before leaving it outside all season.

Rechargeable lamp for entrance and threshold

Near a door, the lamp serves as a marker and must remain visible. A tall model like the solar cube lamp, placed on the floor or on a step, marks the threshold without installation. If the entrance is sheltered, an IP44 is enough; if it catches the rain, aim for IP65. For other placement ideas, see the modern lamps for living room and the adjustable lamps.

What are the most beautiful living room lamps?

The most beautiful living room lamps are those that set a soft light at seating height, without a cable crossing the room. This collection covers the codes of contemporary design and art deco style: ball silhouette, dome, ribbed ovoid lampshade, beige, white or amber shades, metal, glass and rattan. Look for the shape that dialogues with the rest of the furniture rather than an isolated effect.

Design ball table lamp

The ball shape concentrates the light and stands out even when switched off. The art deco style ball lamp combines a beige metal stem and two light shades, for a reading corner or an entrance console. It measures 25 x 51.3 cm: allow space in height if you place it on a low shelf. The modern proposals play the same card with cleaner lines.

Italian design table lamp: the shape codes to spot

The vocabulary of Italian design is recognised by a few signs: low dome, ribbed ovoid, transparent glass, fine metal, amber shades. The ribbed ovoid lampshade lamp and the ribbed amber solar lamp are close to it, as is the transparent tube candle effect lamp. Also see the crystal lamps if you are looking for a more sparkling rendering.

Floor lamps or table lamp: what presence on the floor

A floor lamp occupies a fixed volume and lights a wide area; a rechargeable table lamp moves and stays within a close radius. In a living room, the two complement each other: the floor lamp for general atmosphere, the small lamp for the coffee table or reading support. If you are mainly looking for dark silhouettes, look at the black models for the living room and the gold and black finishes.

How to arrange ceiling spots when you rely on table lamps?

With table lamps, the ceiling no longer has to light everything. Keep a few spots for general light and entrust the atmospheres to the cordless lamps: one at the bedside, one on the coffee table, one near the sofa. The ceiling points remain aligned with circulation areas and work surfaces, not in the line of sight.

Layered lighting: ceiling, table, floor

Three levels are enough to structure a room: the ceiling to see clearly, the table to read or dine, the floor to mark a corner. Rechargeable lamps take charge of the last two levels, which allows the ceiling to be lowered to a minimum. The design models for the living room fill this support role very well.

Avoiding redundant lighting in a small room

In a small volume, two sources lighting the same area neutralise each other and create crossed shadows. Better to have a wide spot and an offset table lamp. For workstations, prefer a directed light, like that of the design lamps for the office or the LED models for the office.

How to wire several lamps on a single electrical supply?

A rechargeable table lamp does without an electrical supply: its battery recharges via USB, so nothing to connect. For fixed lamps, several points are connected in parallel on the same supply, each with its live and neutral, and the switch controls the whole circuit. This work is for an electrician, outside the scope of the cordless lamp.

Wiring several lamps in parallel

In parallel, each point receives the same voltage and works independently: if one lamp is removed, the others stay on. This is the usual setup for a lighting circuit. On a rechargeable lamp, the question does not arise, the battery acting as the source.

Wiring 3 lamps on 1 switch

Three points on a single switch turn on and off together, which suits a circulation area or a series of wall lights. The switch cuts the circuit upstream of the parallel connections. Have the diagram and circuit protection validated by a professional.

Without an electrical supply: the rechargeable lamp solution

When running a line is impossible or costly, the rechargeable lamp solves the problem without work. This is the case for a corridor, a threshold or a terrace. Compare the references on design LED table lamps and on lamps for the office.

Material, shape and style: how to choose a design rechargeable table lamp?

Material and shape decide the rendering. Wood, rattan and bamboo diffuse a warm, filtered light; metal and plastic give cleaner lines; white and beige blend into a light interior, black and gold stand out more. A dimmer allows the intensity to be adapted to the use, from night light to meal.

Wood, rattan or metal: what each material changes

A bedside lamp in wood and woven rattan, like the drop lamp or the cage lamp, cuts the light and warms the shade. Metal reflects it without filtering: the grey and gold tube lamp or the black openwork lampshade lamp give a more direct beam. Transparent plastic, like the contemporary 11 x 20 cm lamp, lets the light through without colouring it.

Ball, tube, dome or square shape depending on the room

The ball and the dome light wide and low: living room, dining table. The tube and the square structure a work surface or an entrance. The square format of the solar cube lamp is placed on the floor and marks a threshold, while a tube of 10 cm diameter slips onto a shelf. Measure the available height before choosing.

Light or dark colours: white, beige, black

White and beige blend in and reflect the light; black and gold draw a silhouette. Many models in this collection are white or beige, with a few dark pieces and one amber finish. On the budget side, the small plastic formats with integrated LED source remain the most accessible, while pieces worked in metal and glass aim for another standing. The design white models and the black metal pieces cover both extremes. Also browse our light fixtures catalogue to place each model.

The choice therefore comes down to three questions: where the lamp will stay, what IP rating that place requires, and what shade of light you want in the evening. Once these answers are set, the collection grid shows today's price of each reference, with secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service to guide you.

Frequently asked questions

What is the battery life of a rechargeable bulb?

Battery life depends on the battery capacity, the LED power and the intensity setting: a lamp used as a night light lasts longer than at full power. The duration is shown on each product sheet, with the charging mode.

What are the drawbacks of LED lamps?

A rechargeable LED lamp requires regular recharging and weakens as the battery drains. Its light is directional, which makes it a support light rather than a way to light an entire room on its own. On some models, the LED source is integrated and cannot be replaced.

Which are the most powerful lamps?

In this collection, the power ratings shown on the spec sheets range from 1.5 to 4.3 W, common values for LED support lighting. Power is not the only criterion: the protection rating, the light shade and the presence of a dimmer count just as much depending on use.

What is the average price of a lamp?

The budget depends on the material, the protection rating and the power mode, from the most accessible model to the more elaborate piece. Today's price of each model appears in the collection grid, updated by our suppliers.

Where can I find low-priced light fixtures?

The most accessible models are often in plastic or aluminium, with an integrated LED source and no dimmer. Solar lamps and small bedside formats are among the simplest options, and the grid shows today's price of each reference.
