Plan on one wireless table lamp per evening use: one on the console behind the sofa, one on the side table, one on the shelf. Start with the source, integrated LED or E27 socket, then the light temperature, around 2700 to 3500 K for a warm white, and finally the protection rating depending on whether the lamp stays dry or goes out on the terrace.
Which wireless table lamp should you choose for a living room?
The choice comes down to three points: the source, the light temperature and the protection rating. A wireless lamp sits at sofa or console height, where the ceiling does not reach. Most models give off a warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, the rendering that suits a living room best in the evening.
Wireless table lamp for living room: on a console or a coffee table
On a console or a coffee table, aim for a wide base and a lamp tall enough for the shade to sit above your line of sight when you are seated. The rechargeable model with a tilted shade measures 22 x 40 cm, a scale that fits on a low piece of furniture. On a narrow shelf, an 11 x 20 cm format or a height of 28 cm like the wireless touch lamp with a domed shade fits more easily.
Wireless LED table lamps: the integrated source
Most models in the collection use integrated LED: nothing to change, the light is the one planned at the factory, most often in warm white. A minority runs on an E27 socket, which leaves the choice of bulb. Both families sit side by side in the design LED table lamps as well as in the contemporary models for the living room.

How does a wireless lamp work?
It runs on an integrated battery: it recharges, and solar models rely on daylight to last the evening. Switching on happens directly on the base or the shade, by touch on the touch versions. No socket is needed where the lamp is placed, which frees up the wall and the floor.
Wireless electric table lamp: plug in or recharge
Around a third of the models in the collection are solar: they need a spot that is lit during the day, a windowsill or terrace, and then do without a cable. The others recharge by cable, a wall socket is enough for the charging time. In both cases, plan for a stable base and an open spot rather than a cluttered corner.
Wireless touch lamp: switch on with a press on the base
On the touch versions, a press on the base or the top of the shade switches the lamp on, without looking for a switch in the dark. A little more than a quarter of the models accept a dimmer, handy for lowering the light late in the evening. These functions can be found in the adjustable table lamps and similar finishes.
Where should you place a wireless table lamp in the living room?
It goes where no socket exists: entryway console, shelf, windowsill, corner of the sofa. It complements the ceiling lighting instead of replacing it, by creating a low point of light that illuminates without glare. One or two are enough to warm up a living room.
Living room wall light or wireless table lamp?
The wall light requires drilling and a power supply, but it frees up the furniture and stays fixed. The table lamp moves, follows the reading from one armchair to another and requires no work. For an original living room light without any building work, the second is more flexible; the wall light keeps the advantage in a hallway or on a bare wall.
Table lamp as a complement to a ceiling spotlight in the living room
The classic living room ceiling spotlight layout lights widely but leaves the sofa corner in shadow and hardens faces. A lamp placed 60 or 70 cm from the floor brings the source closer and lowers the perceived intensity. Place it on the opposite side from the spotlight to avoid double shadows, and offset from the sofa so the bulb is not in your field of vision.
Which IP protection rating for a living room lamp?
The protection rating indicates where the lamp can stay without risk: dry interior, near a window, covered terrace or outdoors. In this collection, IP20 models stay in the living room or bedroom, while IP44, IP54 and IP65 are also advertised for outdoors and the terrace.
| Rating | Advertised rooms | Matching use |
|---|---|---|
| IP20 | Living room, bedroom, office | Dry interior, away from splashes |
| IP44 | Living room, bedroom, outdoors, terrace, office | Damp room or window edge |
| IP54 | Living room, bedroom, outdoors, terrace | Covered terrace, dusty location |
| IP65 | Outdoors, terrace, living room, bedroom | Exposed outdoors, solar models |
Living room lamp near a bay window: which IP should you choose?
Near a bay, driving rain and condensation are the real risk. An IP44 is enough for a lamp placed indoors, away from the glazing. If the lamp goes outside in summer, go up a notch towards IP54. The IP65 solar LED cube is advertised for outdoors, the terrace, the living room and the bedroom.
Living room open to the terrace: where to place the lamp in the evening?
In an open living room, a lamp that goes out and comes back in must be light and protected. The solar version with an openwork shade, in metal and IP44, is advertised for outdoors, the terrace, the living room and the bedroom. It charges outside during the day and lights the table in the evening, with no cable to move.
Integrated LED or E27 socket: what is the difference in a living room?
A lamp with integrated LED keeps the source fixed at the factory: nothing to change, the light is the one planned. A lamp with an E27 socket takes a bulb chosen separately, which makes it possible to adjust the intensity and the light temperature according to the mood you want in the living room.
Halogen or LED for a living room lamp?
Halogen gives a warm, immediate light, but it heats up and uses more: keep it for the occasional replacement of an existing bulb. LED is the norm in this selection and covers most uses, reading as well as atmosphere. Between the two, the E27 socket leaves the door open; integrated LED locks in the rendering.
E27 socket: which bulb in the living room?
For a sofa corner or a table, aim for a warm white around 2700 to 3500 K. A neutral white, around 3500 to 4500 K, suits an office or a dining area. Cool white, above 4500 K, leans towards daylight and is reserved for work areas. Check the shape of the bulb against the shade.
| Source type | Light temperature | Rooms where these models are placed | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Integrated LED | Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Living room, bedroom, outdoors, terrace depending on the model | No bulb needed |
| LED with dimmer | Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Living room, bedroom, office, outdoors | Check that the dimmer is included |
| Solar LED | Warm, neutral or cool white depending on the model | Outdoors, terrace, living room, bedroom | A spot that is lit during the day |
| E27 socket | Depending on the bulb chosen | Living room, bedroom, office | Choose the bulb separately |
Modern living room chandelier or wireless table lamp: what should you choose?
A modern living room chandelier lights the whole room from the ceiling and needs an electrical supply. A wireless table lamp gives a low, mobile light with no work needed. The two are often combined: the chandelier for general lighting, the table lamps for reading, the table and the sofa corner.
Large living room chandelier: what it does not light
Hanging in the centre, a chandelier leaves corners, the space under a table and the back of a sofa in the dark. It lights widely and high, not closely. A powerful living room chandelier therefore does not replace a low point of light for reading or dining. That is where the table lamp comes in, at hand height.
Living room chandeliers and table lamps: how do you match them?
Keep a single family of materials and finishes: black metal with black metal, light wood with beige. A modern living room chandelier in metal pairs well with the gold and black finishes. If the chandelier is already very present, choose discreet lamps in a design white colour.
How do you match the lamp to the decor and the wall colour?
On a white, beige or grey wall, the light bounces back and a light-coloured lamp blends into the decor. On a charcoal or black wall, the light is absorbed: a lamp in metal or wood, in a contrasting colour, stays visible and structures the corner where it is placed.
Which paint colour for a bright living room?
Light shades reflect the light and brighten the room without multiplying the sources. On a dark wall, the light is absorbed: it is then better to add the low points together. The Scandinavian style and the linen table lamps work well on a light background, in wood or beige.
A living room open to a kitchen with a modern decor
When the living room connects to the kitchen, a modern kitchen decor and a living room must hold the same palette. White, beige and grey dominate this selection, with bases in plastic, metal or wood. A light lamp, which you move from the table to the worktop, links the two areas with no cable to run.
How do you install, maintain and receive your wireless lamp?
A wireless lamp needs no electrical supply: it recharges where it is placed. For a lamp with an E27 socket or a fixed model, it is better to entrust the connection to an electrician and group the light points on the same line. Maintenance is limited to dusting the shade and wiping the base.
How do you connect several lamps to a single electrical supply?
With wireless models, the question does not arise: each one recharges separately. For lamps with sockets or fixed ones, the light points are grouped on the same line, with the connection carried out by an electrician. Do not multiply the extension leads on the floor in a living room: it is the first cause of visible cable runs.
Maintaining a table lamp: woven shade, metal base
A woven or openwork shade is dusted dry, with a soft brush or a microfibre cloth, without any product. A metal or plastic base is wiped with a slightly damp cloth, then dried to avoid marks. For recharging, follow the instructions for the model; the LED models for the bedroom and the living room work on the same principle.
Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service: you order, you test the light at home, and you adjust if needed. For another room, the guest bedroom and the office follow the same logic: integrated LED source or E27 socket, warm white 2700-3500 K for the evening, and a protection rating suited to the location. The metal lamps for the office and the modern style office complete the same family. Find everything in the Designix lighting catalogue and the black living room versions.
Frequently asked questions about wireless table lamps
Which lamp for a living room?
A wireless table lamp suits a sofa corner, a console or a shelf, where the ceiling does not light enough. Choose the light temperature and the protection rating according to the location, then the material and colour that match the rest of the living room.
Wireless LED table lamps: do you need to plan for a bulb?
No, on a model with integrated LED the source is fixed at the factory and nothing is replaced. On a lamp with an E27 socket, the bulb is chosen separately, which makes it possible to adjust the light temperature between warm white and cool white according to the mood you want in the living room.
How do you connect several lamps to a single electrical supply?
With wireless lamps, the question does not arise: each one recharges separately. For lamps with sockets or fixed ones, the light points are grouped on the same line, with the connection carried out by an electrician.
Can you eat at a wooden table without a tablecloth with a lamp placed on it?
Yes, provided you choose a stable base and lift the lamp to move it rather than sliding it. A wide base or a flat bottom marks the wood less than a narrow model. Check that the underside of the base is clean before placing it.
Cheap wireless table lamp: where can you save without regret?
The saving is on the style and the material, not on the use: favour an integrated LED source, a stable base and a protection rating suited to the location. Plastic models are the most affordable, those in wood or metal sit higher in the collection.
