Two families make up this collection: rechargeable outdoor table lamps on battery power and solar models. No plug, no mains connection: the built-in LED switches on by touch control or a switch, and the lamp moves from the terrace to the living room depending on the moment.
What is a cordless outdoor table lamp?
A cordless outdoor table lamp works without a mains connection: it lights up thanks to a rechargeable battery or a solar panel, and moves from the terrace to the living room. You choose it on three simple criteria: the material, the IP rating and the light temperature.
Rechargeable outdoor table lamps: how do they work?
The LED is built into the lamp and powered by a battery or a solar panel. Almost every model in the collection works this way, and only a few pieces take an E27 bulb, such as the Jomara. You set it on the table, switch it on, move it: that is the whole gesture of an outdoor light without electricity. To see the whole catalogue, browse all our lights.
Rechargeable battery or solar: what is the difference day to day?
A rechargeable battery charges from an indoor socket and delivers steady brightness. Solar depends on exposure: the lamp sits out in daylight, panel clear, then lights up in the evening. Solar suits a bright terrace, the battery suits a shaded area or a lamp you carry often, like the designer LED models.
Which IP rating for a cordless terrace lamp?
The IP rating indicates resistance to dust and water. At IP44, the lamp withstands water splashes and stays on a covered terrace or a window ledge. At IP54, it also resists dust. At IP65, it can stay outside in the rain, with no shelter.
| IP rating | Actual protection | Where to install it | Models in the collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP44 | Protected against water splashes | Covered terrace, coffee table, window ledge | Sole, Tactilis, Soleila, Mireva, Rechargea, Beltoreno |
| IP54 | Protected against dust and water splashes | Open terrace, garden, entrance, living space | Aritorena, Loreia, Coupola, Valtorella, Ambelina, Ondtorena, Solella |
| IP65 | Protected against dust and water jets | Outdoors exposed to rain | Jomara, Cubella, Artema |
What does IP44 protect on a terrace lamp?
IP44 protects against water splashes, not immersion or prolonged heavy rain. It suits a covered terrace, a balcony under an awning or a sheltered window ledge. If the lamp has to stay outside, a higher rating is safer, as on the most versatile designer table lamps for the living room.
Do you need IP65 for a lamp that stays outside?
Yes, as soon as the lamp is exposed with no shelter, IP65 saves you bringing it in at every shower. The Cubella solar cube in IP65, or the Artema with its ribbed ovoid profile, withstand water jets. For a lamp that comes in at night, IP44 or IP54 is more than enough.
Warm white or cool white: which light for a terrace in the evening?
Most models in this collection light in warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, a golden light that suits a terrace dinner, the living room or the bedroom. Neutral white and cool white, crisper, equip some of the models, for moving around or reading.
| Temperature | Rendering | Best for | Models in the collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warm white 2700-3500 K | Golden light, calm mood | Terrace dinner, living room, bedroom | Sole, Tactilis, Rechargea, Soleila, Aritorena, Loreia, Cubella, Valtorella, Ambelina, Ondtorena |
| Neutral white 3500-4500 K | Balanced light | Meals, reading, all-purpose use | Jomara, Cubella |
| Cool white 4500-6500 K | White light, crisp illumination | Moving around outside, workspace | Jomara, Cubella, Valtorella |
Can you dim a cordless lamp?
Only some models have a dimmer, so check before buying. The Rechargea, Tactilis, Soleila, Aritorena, Coupola and Beltoreno are dimmable. Elsewhere, the light simply switches on and off, with no adjustment, which does not stop it creating a soft mood.
Does too cool a light spoil a dinner outside?
A cool light, above 4500 K, makes faces paler and hardens the mood. For a dinner table, aim for warm white instead, around 3000 K. Keep cool white for a passage, a staircase or a worktop, where you want to see clearly. Modern table lamps often come in both registers.
Where to place a cordless lamp, outside as well as inside?
These lamps are designed for outdoors and also sit in the living room, the bedroom or on a desk. Cordless, they follow the use: on the terrace table in the evening, on a console during the day, as a bedside lamp at night. No socket is needed.
A cordless lamp for the bedroom rather than a wired wall light?
A wired wall light requires an electrical supply and drilling. A cordless lamp sits on the bedside table, travels and replaces the ceiling light when you do not want to drill. Designer bedside lamps fill that role, and LED lamps for the bedroom cover the compact formats.
Moving the light from the living room to the terrace: how?
Format matters more than power: a compact lamp, like the Soleila (10 x 30 cm), or a medium piece like the Mireva (16 x 25 cm), carries in one hand with its base. A floor lamp, on the other hand, stays on the ground and lights widely without moving.
Metal, plastic, wood or bamboo: which material for outdoors?
Metal gives clean lines and a contemporary or art deco finish. Plastic stays light and easy to move, wood, bamboo and woven rope bring a warm look, glass diffuses a softer light. These materials sit side by side in the collection.
| Material | What it brings | Associated style | Models in the collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metal | Clean lines, contemporary or golden finish | Contemporary, art deco | Soleila, Tactilis, Rechargea, Valtorella, Ondtorena, Artema, Solella |
| Plastic | Light, moves easily | Contemporary, minimalist | Jomara, Beltoreno, Sole, Ambelina, Coupola |
| Wood, bamboo and woven rope | Warm look, natural grain | Bohemian | Aritorena, Loreia, Solella, Coupola |
| Glass | Translucent rendering, diffused light | Contemporary | Ambelina |
Metal for a lamp that stays outside?
Metal works well outdoors when the IP rating follows: the Valtorella and the Artema in metal are IP54 and IP65. The metal versions for the desk show the same clean lines indoors, with a tilted or domed shade.
Wood, bamboo or woven rope: in what spirit should you install them?
These materials set a bohemian, warm mood, close to a garden lounge. The Aritorena rattan oval (22.5 x 32.5 cm) or the Solella bamboo slat lamp find their place near an armchair or on a coffee table. Glass, meanwhile, appears on the glass and crystal models.
Which shape and style for a cordless table lamp?
Shapes range from the tube to the cube, through round, dome and oval. Contemporary, art deco, bohemian and minimalist styles share the collection, in white, beige, grey, anthracite and gold. Shape and colour are chosen according to the room and the furniture that hosts the lamp.
Ball lamp or tube lamp: which format?
The tube, like the Sole (11 x 32 cm) or the Tactilis (28 cm high), lights a close surface and slips into a corner. The ball, like the Valtorella (25 x 51.3 cm), diffuses an enveloping light and occupies a piece of furniture or a console. A large format goes on the floor or on a sideboard, never on a small table.
Which colour: white, beige, anthracite or gold?
White blends into a light decor and white finishes stay discreet during the day. Beige and gold warm up an interior, anthracite matches dark furniture. For a crisp contrast, look at the gold and black colours. A clean Nordic style prefers white, grey or light wood.
How to install and maintain a cordless outdoor lamp?
A cordless lamp sits without drilling, without a cable and without an electrical supply: it installs in a minute on a table, a shelf or a piece of furniture. It charges according to its power source, battery or solar. No connection to the grid is required.
How do you connect several lamps to a single power supply?
A cordless lamp occupies no socket: it charges and sits wherever you want, which avoids multiplying connections around a table. Only wired models need a protected outdoor power point, never an improvised setup. That is the real advantage of cordless adjustable table lamps.
Recharge or leave in the sun: what to do by season?
In summer, a solar model placed with its panel clear charges on its own during the day. In winter, the battery charges from an indoor socket and the lamp returns to its place in the evening. A battery model therefore remains useful all year, including as modern desk lighting.
Which mistakes to avoid before buying a cordless outdoor lamp?
The most common mistakes: choosing a lamp without checking its IP rating for outdoor use, opting for too cool a light on a dinner table, and overestimating the space available on the furniture. Better to check the location and the light rendering before choosing.
Forgetting the IP rating: the most common mistake
An IP44 on an uncovered terrace will eventually deteriorate. Conversely, an IP65 on a bedside table is useless but harmless. Start by identifying the exact spot, sheltered or exposed, then read the rating. The black lamps for the living room and the living room selections show this rating in their specifications.
Checking the format before buying: how?
Measure the surface it will sit on: 10 x 30 cm for the Soleila, 22 x 40 cm for the Rechargea, 27.9 x 44.3 cm for the Artema. A large format on a small console unbalances the room. Also allow for height, because a tall shade hides the view from the table. Linen models and softer pieces can be found among the linen table lamps, for a muted rendering indoors.
A concrete example to finish: the Rechargea, battery powered with a tilted shade, sits on a living room table then on a sheltered terrace, is dimmable and charges from an indoor socket. It is the kind of piece that covers two uses with no work needed.
Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service support you from choice to delivery. Choose the location and IP rating first, then the light temperature, and the lamp will follow your daily life from one room to another.
