Count on a wooden pendant light above the island or worktop, a chandelier if the kitchen opens onto the dining room, a wall light when the ceiling cannot carry anything. All the wooden models in this selection are IP20, mostly LED, with E27, E14, G9 or GU10 sockets and warm white light. Three light points are often enough: one above the prep area, one for the dining corner, one to move around.
Which wooden light for the kitchen: pendant, chandelier or wall light?
A wooden pendant light illuminates the worktop or island, a wooden chandelier takes care of the whole room when it opens onto the dining room, a wooden wall light remains the solution when the ceiling cannot carry anything. Depending on the model, you will find E27, G9, E14 or GU10.
Wooden chandelier for the kitchen
The chandelier occupies the centre of the room and spreads light widely. The historic model of the selection, the Olen driftwood chandelier, combines wood with acrylic and metal, in GU10: it lights an open kitchen without crushing the volume. The black and gold vintage retro kitchen chandelier plays on solid wood, metal and brass, in E27, and accepts a dimmer.
Wooden pendant light for the kitchen
The pendant light hangs low and concentrates light where you work. A very compact model such as the Kubbe S wooden pendant light (L 8 cm/W 8 cm, GU10) sits alone above a bar, or in a row of two or three. A wooden ceiling light, fixed flush with the ceiling, works when height is lacking. See also the pendant lights to hang above the island.
| Need | Recommended type | Format and height | To check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lighting an island or a bar | Wooden pendant light | adjustable cable up to 160 or 200 cm depending on the model | Shade width, socket, position in the field of vision |
| Lighting the whole kitchen | Wooden chandelier | large format, total height from 97 to 133 cm depending on size | Ceiling footprint, ceiling height |
| Clearing the worktop | Wooden wall light | compact format, from 7 to 30 cm | GU10 or E27 socket, position away from splashes |
| Lighting a hallway or entrance | Pendant light or wall light | small format, 8 to 10 cm per side | GU10 socket, IP20 for dry rooms |
| Kitchen open onto the living room | Wooden chandelier with warm white light | adjustable cable height | Dimmer if the model allows it |
At what height should a wooden pendant light be hung above the table or island?
The pendant lights in the collection are adjustable: the cable rises to 104, 145, 160 or 200 cm depending on the model, which leaves room between the worktop and the shade. The pendant is lowered low enough to light the surface well, without entering the field of vision.
Height of a pendant light above a kitchen island
In general, leave about 75 to 85 cm between the worktop and the bottom of the shade for task lighting, and 60 to 70 cm above a dining table. The Kubbe R pendant light rises to 200 cm of cable, enough to cover a high ceiling as well as a standard one. The Caro pendant lamp, in E27, descends to 145 cm and suits above the dining corner.
Kitchen pendant light adjustable in height: how to adjust before drilling
First measure the ceiling height, subtract the desired clearance, then check that the total height of the model remains consistent with the result. Mark the position of the ceiling fixing point, not that of the shade. A cable that is too long can be shortened or coiled into the base depending on the model.
Which light for a kitchen: warm white, neutral white or cool white?
The collection is mostly warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, the tone that warms the wood and the table. Some models, such as the black and gold vintage retro kitchen chandelier, also offer 3500 to 4500 K and 4500 to 6500 K, more neutral, useful above a worktop.
Warm white 2700 - 3500 K: the light that warms the wood
This is the setting that brings out a wooden worktop or brown furniture. In a kitchen open onto the living room, it ensures continuity with the LED versions for a kitchen open onto the living room and avoids a break in atmosphere in the evening.
Neutral or cool white: when to use it in a kitchen
Above a worktop, a more neutral tone renders colours more accurately for chopping and cooking. Cool white remains occasional, on a specific work area. Check the temperature before buying the bulb: it is the bulb that decides the final result, not the light fitting.
| Light temperature | Tone | Where to use it | Models concerned in the collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warm white 2700 - 3500 K | warm yellow | Dining corner, island in the evening, atmosphere | Most models in the collection |
| Neutral white 3500 - 4500 K | neutral | Worktop, meal preparation | Black and gold vintage retro kitchen chandelier |
| Cool white 4500 - 6500 K | cool white | Precise tasks, work areas | Black and gold vintage retro kitchen chandelier |
Which socket and wattage to choose for a wooden kitchen light?
E27 is the most common socket in the collection, followed by G9, E14 and GU10. Wattages range from 8 to 15 W depending on the model, a wall light goes up to 40 W and a chandelier to 24 W. A dimmable model lets you soften the light at the end of a meal.
E27, E14, G9 or GU10 socket: what it changes above a worktop
E27 offers the widest choice of bulbs and is easy to replace. G9 and E14 fit into slim shades, such as the KELLO A pendant light (G9, 12 W) or the FLUMINA A walnut pendant light (E14, 9 W). GU10, at 10 W, is found on the LINO wall light and on the Kubbe S pendant light, as a directional beam.
LED bulb and dimmer: dosing the brightness of a kitchen
LED is present on the vast majority of models in the selection. The dimmer, available on only some of them, lets you switch from task lighting to table lighting without turning off. Check that the chosen bulb is compatible with the dimmer of the light fitting.
How to match a wooden light with a modern kitchen decor?
Pick up the wood of the worktop or furniture, then pair the light with the glass, steel or black metal already present in the room. Round and ball shapes soften a very straight kitchen, tubes and square lines structure it. Brown and white remain the tones most often associated with wood.
Modern kitchen decor: which materials to pair with wood?
Wood and glass for lightness, wood and steel for a sharper result, wood and black metal for an industrial feel. For a modern kitchen decor, the modern kitchen lights and the design models for the kitchen cover these combinations. The pieces with original design serve as a focal point.
Which colour of wooden light for a white or black kitchen?
In a white kitchen, brown wood or lighter beige versions warm without weighing down. In a black kitchen, black wooden lights blend the silhouette, and a touch of wood and blue for a colourful accent breaks the monotony.
Living room chandelier, WC light: can the same wood be used elsewhere?
Most models in the collection are suitable for the living room, dining room or bedroom as well as the kitchen, and several for a hallway or entrance. For a WC or a damp room, choose a compact format or a wall light, and keep the same wood to stay consistent.
Large chandelier for a high ceiling: how much cable to plan for?
Several models rise to 104, 133, 145 or 160 cm of total height, and some pendant lights to 200 cm. The FUNSUI B chandelier size M has a height of 132.7 cm against 97.7 cm for size S: both sizes cover different ceilings. A matching living room light extends the open kitchen.
Living room chandelier: what place when the kitchen is open?
In a through room, the chandelier marks the transition between the two areas, and the pendant lights for the dining room take over above the table. For a small room or a WC, better to choose the Liro wicker wall light or the Mori bulb wall light, in E27, than a large chandelier. The whole selection is IP20: for a wet area, see the IP44 models for damp areas and the IP65 lights.
Modern kitchen chandelier or Italian design pendant light: how to decide?
The modern kitchen chandelier takes care of the general lighting of the room and is often installed in a large format, while the design pendant light illuminates a specific area, an island or a bar. The Italian style is recognisable by its fine lines and its glass: in the collection, these are the metal, glass and wood models.
Italian design kitchen pendant light: what wooden and glass equivalent?
The FLUMINA A walnut pendant light, in wood and glass, descends to 160 cm, with a narrow 20.5 cm shade. The KELLO B pendant light, in metal, glass and wood, plays on 90 cm of width to cover a long worktop. Two ways to get the fine line without leaving wood.
Retro, vintage or industrial kitchen chandelier: for which interior?
A very straight interior supports a wooden light with clean lines well; an interior with beams or bricks calls more for black metal and brass. The Olen chandelier, mixed with driftwood, suits open volumes. To move up a level, see the exceptional pieces.
How to care for a wooden light and a wooden table without a tablecloth?
A wooden light is dusted dry, with a soft cloth, without aggressive products. For a wooden table where you eat without a tablecloth, wipe marks quickly and nourish the surface. The lights in the collection are IP20, so reserved for dry rooms: no running water.
Grandmother's recipe for stripping wooden furniture: what still works
Old methods rely on dusting, gentle degreasing, then light sanding along the grain before nourishing the wood. On a wooden light, limit yourself to a soft cloth: no running water, no aggressive product, IP20 will not withstand it.
Eating at a wooden table without a tablecloth: the gestures that protect
A wipe with a damp cloth then dried right after the meal prevents marks from setting. Keep abrasive cleaners for painted surfaces, not oiled tables. The table as well as the light age better without excess water.
Where to find these wooden lights and how does ordering work?
People often look for a lighting store in Lyon or a clearance sale: the collection can be browsed online, model by model, with dimensions, socket and protection rating displayed. Payment is secure, delivery tracked and returns provided for, with Designix customer service to confirm a choice.
Lighting store in Lyon or online purchase: how to check a model before ordering?
Note the total height, diameter, socket, stated wattage and protection rating. Compare two models from the same family to see the real difference, such as the KELLO A pendant light (max height 104 cm) and the KELLO B (max height 150 cm). The full lighting catalogue groups everything together, and a range for toilets or an exceptional model can also be found depending on the need. This is the fastest approach when looking for a Lyon lighting store or a Lyon lighting clearance sale: compare the product pages before travelling.
Lighting clearance and budget: affordable models or exceptional pieces
The selection ranges from affordable models, in wood alone and with a standard socket, to more elaborate pieces mixing glass, brass and iron. The budget follows the material and the finish, not the size alone. Designix customer service helps you decide between two close references.
Reassurance: secure payment, tracked delivery, returns provided for, Designix customer service for any question before ordering. Browse all our lights to place the woods, sockets and shapes. One last useful point: check the socket and the cable height before confirming, that is what decides the result above your worktop.
Frequently asked questions
Kitchen chandelier: which wooden model to choose?
A wooden kitchen chandelier takes its place in the centre of the room when it is large enough. The Olen driftwood chandelier, in GU10, suits an open kitchen, while the black and gold vintage retro kitchen chandelier, in E27 and dimmable, combines solid wood, metal and brass.
Kitchen pendant light: which height and socket to choose?
The pendant lights in the collection are height-adjustable, with cables going up to 104, 145, 160 or 200 cm depending on the model. As for the socket, they come in G9, E14, E27 or GU10. They are installed above an island, a bar or a worktop.
What are the lighting trends for the kitchen in 2026?
Natural wood, minimalist and Japanese lines, brown, white and black tones, and E27 or G9 sockets remain the most present. Warm white light 2700 - 3500 K dominates, with a dimmer on some of the models in the selection.
Which wooden light for a WC?
The lights in this collection are IP20, so intended for dry rooms. For a WC, favour a compact format: a wooden wall light, such as the Liro wicker wall light or the Mori metal and wood bulb wall light, rather than a large chandelier.
Which large chandelier for a high ceiling?
A high ceiling requires a chandelier whose cable descends far enough: several models rise to 104, 133, 145 or 160 cm of total height, and some pendant lights to 200 cm. Look for a large format, such as the Olen driftwood chandelier or the FUNSUI B chandelier size M.
