Which designer pendant should you choose for a dining room?
Start with the top: a linear structure suits a rectangular table, a flat shade or a glass ball suits a round table. Then check the bulb base, the light color and the cable length.
Designer pendant for a dining room: the criteria that matter
The format follows the table, the material changes the presence: metal draws a clean line, aluminum lightens, glass lets light through, acrylic diffuses it without glare. Gold, white and black dominate the finishes, and warm white from 2700 to 3500 K warms wood as well as pale tablecloths. Integrated sources are gathered in designer LED pendants. Designer pendant light for a dining room: where to start?
Measure the table, choose the format, then the light. Beyond six place settings, the Yano pendant for a rectangular table, in metal, glass and aluminum, GU10 base. Over a round table, the flat green-grey Onir shade covers 50 cm in diameter and adjusts from 20 to 170 cm. For four place settings, the round glass ball Aura, a 20 cm globe with a 130 cm cable, is enough.
| Table or room | Suitable format | Measured dimensions | Model to look at |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rectangular table, 6 to 8 place settings | Linear structure | 102.5 cm long, 13 cm high | Yano |
| Large round table | Flat shade | Ø 50 cm, adjustable from 20 to 170 cm | Onir, Krisip |
| Medium round table | Glass ball | Globe Ø 20 cm, 130 cm cable | Aura |
| Large room, high ceiling | Long pendant | 120 cm wide, 140 cm high | Vortex 3066ZW |
| Large reception table | Multi-head chandelier | 80 to 150 cm | Xilo, Xala |
| Hallway, entryway | Compact module | 24 cm long, 9 cm high | Byla |
Designer pendant or chandelier above the table: what is the difference?
A pendant comes down at one point or in a line, a chandelier gathers several light points. The collection offers both: suspended structures such as Vortex or Voltis, and multi-head chandeliers such as Xilo or Xala, which spread light along the whole length of the table.
Dining room chandelier or pendant: which one for a large table?
A chandelier works when the table seats more than eight, as several sources limit shadow areas. The Xilo chandelier with adjustable intensity offers warm, neutral or cool white. Xala lines up five E14 heads over 80 to 120 cm, in wood, glass and bamboo. Over a shorter table, a single pendant is enough: Voltis stretches over 60 or 120 cm with a G9 base.
Living room chandelier and designer chandelier: can you keep the same model in both rooms?
Yes, provided you check the height. Signature, with a GU10 base, and Vira, 100 or 120 cm in brass and copper, suit both the living room and the dining room. In an open-plan room, keep the same family of finishes and vary the format. Clean silhouettes are found in Scandinavian style for the living room, matte blacks in black designer pendants.
At what height should you hang a pendant above the dining table?
It depends on the model, and that is why the cables are adjustable: 130 cm on the Aura glass ball, 120 cm on the Onir shade, whose total height adjusts from 20 to 170 cm. So the gap above the top is set once the table is in place.
Pendant above the table: how do you adjust the cable height?
In general, leave 60 to 80 cm between the bottom of the shade and the top, a little higher if the view must stay clear during the meal. Cut the cable as close as possible, without pulling it tight, and check the ceiling fixing before hanging. An adjustable model like Onir leaves room to correct after installation.
Low or high pendant: what effect in the room?
Low, it concentrates light on the top and isolates the table. High, it lights more widely and suits large rooms and high ceilings: Vortex measures 120 cm wide. In both cases, IP20 requires use in a dry interior, away from water splashes.
Modern or art deco designer pendant for a dining room: which style to choose?
The collection is mostly contemporary, with modern, industrial, vintage or jungle pieces. For a modern interior, go for metal and glass; for an art deco feel, gold finishes and oval or tube shapes set the tone without overloading the room.
Art deco dining room pendant: which finishes to favor?
Gold, brass and copper carry the art deco spirit. The gold Soleil Rayon d'Or light combines metal, brass, iron and aluminum with an E14 base, in 52, 65 or 72 cm. Vira plays on brass and copper over 100 to 120 cm, Signature mixes aluminum and copper. These finishes appear in gold models; for other rooms, see gold pendants for the bedroom.
Modern designer pendant for a dining room: which color?
Black and white are equally represented in the collection, ahead of grey and silver. A matte black highlights a pale wood table, a white blends into a painted ceiling. Slim structures are found in black metal structures, pale tones in white pendants.
How do you match the pendant with a wooden table or an open kitchen?
On a bare wooden table, a warm white light and a wide diffuser prevent harsh reflections on the top. In an open kitchen, a linear glass or metal pendant above the island marks the separation between the kitchen and the dining room.
Eating at a bare wooden table: which light to choose?
A bare top reflects light: frosted glass or a wide shade diffuses it without creating marked shadows. Olen, in 108 or 120 cm, mixes wood, acrylic and metal with a GU10 base, while Xala combines wood, glass and bamboo. Warm white from 2700 to 3500 K remains the most comfortable at the table. Other natural materials are gathered in wood pieces.
Italian designer kitchen pendant and decor for a modern kitchen: how do you link the two spaces?
Align the pendant on the axis of the island and keep the same finish as the table to link the two areas. A linear metal and glass model lights a worktop as well as a six-seat top. Vira, with an Italian spirit, plays on brass over 100 to 120 cm. These lines are gathered in LED pendants for the kitchen, with glass versions in glass pendants for the kitchen.
A table for six to eight? The Yano pendant, 102.5 cm long covers that length in metal, glass and aluminum.
E27, E14, GU10 or G9 base: which bulb for a dining room pendant?
The collection covers four bases: E27 and E14 screw, GU10 and G9 pin, plus models with integrated LED. The base determines the bulb you will buy next, and it stays the same if you replace a halogen bulb with an LED.
| Base | Bulb to plan for | Models concerned | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| E27 | Screw bulb, LED or halogen | Aura, Krisip, Onir | Common format, easy replacement |
| E14 | Small screw base | Soleil Rayon d'Or, Xala | For slim multi-head structures |
| GU10 | Pin base | Yano, Signature, Vira, Noeud, Olen | Standard on directional lighting |
| G9 | Small pin base | Voltis, Byla | Reserved for compact modules |
| Integrated LED | No bulb to change | Vortex 3066ZW, Xilo | No replacement to plan for |
LED or halogen design: do you need to change the light fixture?
No, if the fixture has a socket. An E27 or E14 base accepts a halogen bulb as well as an LED: the power drawn drops and the light tone changes. Models with integrated LED, such as Vortex, are not replaceable. Check the maximum wattage indicated on the socket before buying.
Dimmer and light temperature: how do you set the mood?
A dimmer is possible on half the models, including Voltis, Aura, Xilo or Vira. For the tone, warm white from 2700 to 3500 K suits the meal, neutral white from 3500 to 4500 K stays readable for working, cool white from 4500 to 6500 K lights more harshly. In general, you lower the intensity at dessert.
Can these pendants be installed in a room other than the dining room?
Yes. These pendants also work in the living room and in an open kitchen, and occasionally in a hallway, a bedroom or an entryway. All pieces in the collection are IP20: they are reserved for dry interior spaces, away from water splashes.
Light fixture for a toilet or hallway: which pendant to choose?
In a small space, a compact module replaces a large structure. The Byla pendant for small spaces measures 24 cm long by 9 cm high, in wood, metal and acrylic, with a 5 W G9 base. A long hallway takes two or three modules in a row, with a low-power bulb since the eye passes close by. Other short formats are in pendants for entryways.
Pendant for a bedroom or entryway: which formats?
A bedroom takes a medium diameter centered above the bed, an entryway a narrower model. White or black tones blend into small spaces and natural materials warm an entryway without daylight. See rattan pendants for the bedroom and white pendants for the bedroom. For a stairwell, compare with designer pendants for staircases.
How do you install and care for a designer pendant?
Fixing is done on the ceiling, then the cable length is adjusted before fitting the bulb. Care follows the material: a soft cloth is enough on metal, glass, wood and acrylic, with no abrasive product or immersion.
How do you clean a glass, metal or wood pendant?
Cut the power before any handling. On glass, a slightly damp microfiber cloth then a dry wipe. On metal and aluminum, a soft cloth, with no abrasive sponge that scratches the finish. On wood and bamboo, a barely damp cloth, never soaked. Dusting the shade regularly preserves the light output.
Cable and dimmer adjustment: what to check before connecting
Check the ceiling fixing, the 10 cm canopy on Aura for example, the tightness of the socket and the cable routing, which must not touch the source. An existing dimmer must be compatible with the chosen bulb, especially with LED. Some models are designed for it, such as the 120 cm black Vortex pendant. If in doubt, have the light fixture installed by an electrician.
Ordering and service. Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service. The warranty runs from two years on almost the entire selection to three years on a few models.

One thing left to decide is the format: modern LED lighting for clean interiors, or a more elaborate piece for a large table.
Frequently asked questions about dining room pendants
Which pendant for a dining room?
It all depends on the table. Above a rectangular top, a linear structure like Yano spreads light along the whole length. Over a round table, a 50 cm flat shade or a 20 cm glass ball is enough. Then check the base, the light color and the cable length.
Dining room chandelier: how do you choose one?
A chandelier gathers several light points and suits large tables. Look at the number of heads, the base, the total length and the light color. Xilo comes in 80 to 150 cm in LED and accepts a dimmer, Xala combines wood, glass and bamboo with five heads.
Art deco dining room pendant: which materials to favor?
The art deco spirit comes through gold, brass and copper, on oval or tube shapes. Soleil Rayon d'Or combines metal, brass and iron in gold, Vira plays on brass and copper, Signature mixes aluminum and copper in a gold tone.
Light fixture for a toilet: which pendant to choose?
In a small space, a compact module works better than a large structure. Byla measures 24 cm long by 9 cm high, fixes to the ceiling and works with a G9 base. The whole collection is IP20, so reserved for dry rooms.
Eating at a bare wooden table: which light to choose?
Without a tablecloth, the bare top reflects light. A warm white bulb, from 2700 to 3500 K, and a wide diffuser, flat shade or frosted glass, prevent harsh reflections and marked shadows. A slim metal structure leaves the wood visible without darkening it.
