Use two rope wall lights, placed on either side of the sofa or bed, at shoulder height, with a warm white bulb for the evening. The braided rope filters the light and casts soft shadows on the wall, which is what sets a designer wall light apart from a simple light source. The whole selection is IP20, so indoor use only.

What is a rope wall light and what light does it give?
A rope wall light dresses an arm or a shade in braided rope, cord or hemp, often mixed with metal or wood. It is fitted indoors (IP20) and gives a warm, textured accent light, with an E27 base on most models, E14 on compact formats, or integrated LED like Sylvene, rated 13 W in warm white.
Braided rope or cord: what effect?
Thick braided rope brings out the relief and shadows; this is the chic country style of Cordia and its cream shade. Thinner cord lets the silhouette of the arm show through, as on Nari. Hemp rope leans towards boho and jungle. These materials sit alongside metal, glass or wood depending on the metal wall lights in the selection.
Which bulb should go in a rope wall light?
A warm white bulb, around 2700 to 3000 K, remains the comfortable reference for a living room or bedroom. With an E27 base, the wattage stated on our models goes up to 40 W maximum depending on the model; the E14 of small shades requires a more compact bulb. The socket stays accessible wherever the bulb is replaceable.
Which rope wall light should you choose for a living room?
For a living room, choose a rope wall light with an E27 base, often rated 40 W maximum, placed on each side of a sofa or a bookcase. Format matters more than wattage: a wide shade like the Ø 30 cm of Velvesica lights a larger area than a small module, and rope warms up a pale wall.
Modern living room wall light: which model?
In a contemporary room, the lines stay fine: an arm in twisted rope with glass and wood like Nari, which measures only 7 x 12.3 cm, or a gold wall light in aluminium and fabric like Sylvene. These models keep the softness of rope without competing with the furniture. Other options are gathered in the contemporary living room models.
Powerful living room wall light: E27 base or LED?
The E27 base lets you choose the brightness and replace the bulb yourself, with a stated wattage up to 40 W maximum depending on the model. The integrated LED of Sylvene, 13 W in warm white, cannot be replaced but needs no maintenance. To light a large area, a large shade is better than high wattage.
Which rope wall light for the bedroom?
In a bedroom, the wall light goes on either side of the bed, at shoulder height, to read without dazzling the person next to you. Compact formats suit small walls: Cordia measures 25 cm with its cream shade and E14 base, Nari only 7 x 12.3 cm with its twisted rope arm.
Rope and wood wall light: what effect in a bedroom?
Nari combines wood with a twisted rope arm, along with metal and glass: it is the model that most clearly carries the vintage spirit. Wood brings a warmth that metal alone does not give, and the small format lets a headboard wall breathe. Other combinations mix materials in the glass models.
Cream or beige rope wall light: how to match it to the wall?
On a beige or cream wall, a pale rope blends in and lets the light do the work; this is the boho chic choice of Niva, bronze, gold and rope. On a dark wall, a black frame or a contrasting shade draws the silhouette. For a modern bedroom, tighter lines can be found in the modern bedroom wall lights.
How do you create a boho chic mood with a rope wall light?
The boho chic spirit rests on layered natural materials: braided hemp rope, raffia, rattan, with a few gold touches. A multi-tier model like Tesano, in rope and metal, creates relief on a beige wall; a wide Ø 30 cm shade like Velvesica brings the same spirit with a softer line.
Hemp rope or cord wall light: what is the difference in effect?
Hemp rope is irregular, matte, and embraces the raw side: it gives a more textured wall, close to jungle. Cord, regular and tight, reads like a line and suits calmer interiors. In both cases, the rope filters the light and softens the halo cast on the wall.
Rope and rattan or rope and metal: which pairing should you choose?
Rope and metal play on the contrast between soft and rigid, as on Tesano or the Tesano wall light in braided hemp rope. Rattan, raffia and paper bring the whole closer to the ball style, rounder and softer. A single gold touch is enough, without multiplying finishes on the same wall.
Is a rope wall light suitable for a hallway, stairs or toilet?
Yes. These models are designed for indoor use and several are rated for the hallway, stairs, entrance or toilet. In these passage areas, choose an E27 base that is easy to replace, a shallow format like Nari (7 x 12.3 cm) and a pale rope that structures the wall without weighing it down.
Staircase wall light: at what height should it be placed?
Repeat the same model along the climb, aligned with the handrail, to give a regular rhythm and guide the step. In a hallway, the usual position is at shoulder height, around 1.20 to 1.50 m from the floor depending on the room. Staircase wall lights are chosen first for their shallow depth.
Designer toilet wall light: which model for a small wall?
On a toilet wall, the wall light should stay discreet: the cream rope of Cordia, 25 cm with an E14 base, or the small Nari module in twisted rope and wood. Place the light source above or beside the mirror, directed towards the wall rather than the face. The same approach applies to lighting a narrow hallway.
| Model | Material | Base | Format | Recommended rooms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cordia | Rope | E14 | 25 cm | Hallway, stairs, bedroom, living room, entrance |
| Tesano | Rope and metal | E27 | 23 x 25 cm | Living room, bedroom, study |
| Velvesica | Metal, raffia shade | E27 | Shade Ø 30 cm | Living room, bedroom |
| Nari | Metal, rope, glass, wood | E27 | 7 x 12.3 cm | Living room, bedroom, hallway, dining room |
| Sylvene | Aluminium and fabric | Integrated LED | W 13 x D 16.7 cm | Living room, bedroom, hallway |
| Niva | Steel, glass, paper, rope | E27 | W 20.3 x D 24.1 x H 22.7 cm | Hallway, stairs, bedroom, entrance |
| Charme Rustique | Metal, twisted rope, glass, iron | E27 | 28 x 10 cm | Living room, bedroom |
Weatherproof outdoor wall light: can a rope wall light go outside?
Not for this selection. The rope wall lights in the collection are IP20, a rating that corresponds to indoor use, protected from water spray; only Charme Rustique, listed as an outdoor light, is designed for a sheltered facade. For a facade or terrace, aim for a higher IP rating, with a housing designed for rain.
Which IP rating for a damp room?
In general, a wet room requires at least IP44 near a water point, and IP20 is suitable for dry rooms. A bathroom is therefore treated with an indoor wall light suited to the zone, keeping rope for the living room, bedroom, hallway or entrance.
Powerful LED wall light: how do you get more brightness?
There are two routes: a model with integrated LED like Sylvene, rated 13 W in warm white 2700 to 3500 K, or a wall light with an E27 base taking a more generous bulb, with the stated wattage going up to 40 W maximum depending on the model. The second choice leaves you free to change the bulb and the brightness. For a large space, it is better to multiply low points than to force a single source.
E27, E14 or integrated LED: which base for a rope wall light?
The E27 base, found on most models (Tesano, Nari, Velvesica, Niva, Charme Rustique), takes a screw bulb that you replace yourself, often rated 40 W maximum. The E14 of compact formats like Cordia requires a smaller bulb. The integrated LED of Sylvene, 13 W in warm white, cannot be replaced.
Which bulb should you screw into an E27 wall light?
A warm white bulb, standard shape, screws directly into the socket. The wattage stated on the model is a maximum, not an obligation to buy: a more modest bulb is suitable for accent lighting. On a brick wall or a dark wall, a black frame remains readable without lighting more.
Can you change the bulb of an LED wall light?
No on an integrated LED module: the source is part of the light and is replaced with it. In exchange, the light is even, without hot spots, and the temperature stays fixed at the factory around 2700 to 3500 K. If you want to keep control of brightness, choose a wall light with a base.
| Base | What it implies | Models concerned | Stated wattage |
|---|---|---|---|
| E27 | Screw bulb, replaceable yourself | Tesano, Nari, Velvesica, Niva, Charme Rustique | 40 W or 40 W max depending on the model |
| E14 | Compact bulb, small shades | Cordia | 40 W |
| Integrated LED | Non-replaceable source, warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Sylvene | 13 W |
How do you install and care for a rope wall light?
The wall light is fixed to the wall on a flush box, with the power off, away from splash zones since the whole range is IP20. Place it at shoulder height in a hallway, aligned with the handrail on a staircase. For care, a soft cloth or a brush attachment is enough on the rope, without wet products.
At what height should you place a wall light in a hallway?
Allow around 1.20 to 1.50 m from the floor, at shoulder height, so the light follows the eye without dazzling it. On a staircase, follow the handrail and repeat the same model at regular intervals. Shallow models like Nari free up the passage, which is also what people look for in affordable models for an entrance.
How do you clean a rope wall light?
A soft cloth or a brush attachment removes dust caught in the fibres, without water or wet products, which would weigh down the rope. On a raffia, fabric or paper shade, dust dry, gently. The stated warranty ranges from 2 years on most models to 5 years on part of the selection.
To complete a wall, the bedroom wall lamps, the study corner or the area around the dining corner are treated with the same principle: two sources rather than one, in warm white. A cream or gold rope wall light also extends a pale decor, and the gold finishes match a beige wall without overloading it. Frequently asked questions
How do you choose an original wall light?
Look for a material before a shape: twisted rope, braided hemp rope, raffia, or an assembly like Niva, in steel, glass, paper and rope. A multi-tier model like Tesano, or a small module in rope and wood like Nari, is enough to move away from smooth wall lights without falling into pure decoration.
Which modern living room wall light for a contemporary room?
Stay with simple lines: an arm in twisted rope and glass like Nari, a raffia shade like Velvesica, or a gold wall light in aluminium and fabric like Sylvene. These models keep warm white and a fine silhouette that does not compete with the furniture.
Which powerful LED wall light should you choose?
There are two routes: a model with integrated LED like Sylvene, rated 13 W in warm white 2700 to 3500 K, or a wall light with an E27 base taking a more generous bulb, with the stated wattage going up to 40 W maximum depending on the model. The base leaves you free to change the bulb and the brightness.
Boho or boho chic wall light: what is the difference?
Boho embraces raw materials and layering: braided hemp rope, raffia, rattan, several sources on the same wall, like Tesano and its stack of rope and metal. Boho chic keeps the natural feel but tightens the lines, adds a bronze or gold touch and limits the number of materials.
Which wall light for a toilet or designer WC?
On a toilet wall, the wall light should stay discreet: the cream rope of Cordia, 25 cm with an E14 base, or the small Nari module in twisted rope and wood. Place the light source above or beside the mirror, directed towards the wall rather than the face.
Which rope and wood wall light for a chic country spirit?
Nari combines wood with a twisted rope arm, along with metal and glass, in a 7 x 12.3 cm format: it is the model that most clearly carries this chic country and vintage spirit. The cream rope of Cordia, at 25 cm, gives a softer version of it, with an E14 base.
