Three light sources belong in a kitchen: a pendant above the island or table, a ceiling fixture for general light, and a wall light for walkways and worktops. This selection brings together kitchen lighting in metal, glass or rattan, with E27, E14, G9 or LED sockets, all IP20, from the worktop to the table.

Which type of light for a kitchen?
A kitchen is lit from several points: a pendant above the island or table, a ceiling fixture for general light, a wall light for walkways and an LED model for continuous lighting. E27, E14 and G9 sockets remain the most common in the selection.
Kitchen pendant light
Suspended, the source drops towards what you look at: that is what makes an island readable and a table welcoming. The Lumea tube pendant, in glass and gold metal, targets the island without cluttering it. Sizes range from Ø 42 cm to Ø 105 cm, with a cable adjustable up to 200 cm depending on the model.
Kitchen ceiling light
When the room has neither an island nor a central table, light comes from the ceiling and covers the whole surface: circulation, wall units and splashback. Allow one main source for the room, then a lower addition for cooking in the evening. The modern kitchen lights bring these two approaches together.
How to spread light in the kitchen, zone by zone?
The worktop needs directed light, the island one or more suspended points adjustable in height, the table a centred fixture. The pendants in the collection are adjustable, from Ø 42 cm to Ø 105 cm, with a cable height up to 200 cm depending on the model.
Under-cabinet kitchen light: which light?
Under wall units, light should fall on the chopping board and not in your eyes. A compact format, such as an 18x8 cm wall light with E27 socket, slips above a narrow worktop or between two units. For continuous lighting along a splashback, two low pendants placed at the ends of the worktop are enough.
Kitchen wall light: where to fix it?
The wall light goes on a free wall, between two wall units or at the kitchen entrance, at about shoulder height, to light a passage without adding a ceiling point. The wall lights cover these positions. Above the worktop, the pendant light takes over and brings the light down to the right place.
| Zone | Type of light | What it changes | Sizes | Socket |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Worktop | Wall light or low pendant | Lights the chopping area without taking up the worktop | 18x8 cm wall light, pendants Ø 18 to 42 cm | E27, E14 |
| Central island | One or more aligned pendants | Several points above the work area | Ø 42, 50, 67 and 105 cm | E27, E14, G9 |
| Dining table | Centred pendant or chandelier | A focal point above the table, adjustable height | Ø 50 to 105 cm, max height 137 to 200 cm | E27, G9, E14 |
| Kitchen open to living room | Chandelier or large format | A light scaled to a through room | Sizes 60x100 cm, 80x150 cm, 100x200 cm and 120x30 cm, Ø 105 cm | LED, E14, G9 |
| Circulation | Wall light or compact pendant | Passage lighting, not bulky | 18x8 cm wall light, pendant Ø 42 cm | E27, E14 |
Which light for a modern kitchen fixture?
Most models light in warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, a light that flatters food and gold or wood materials. Cool white, 4500 to 6500 K, gives a sharper rendering on the worktop. Part of the selection is LED and some models accept a dimmer.
LED kitchen light: what is the point?
An integrated LED module cannot be replaced: it is chosen for its lifespan. On a large pendant, it avoids climbing on a stool to change a bulb. Where the socket remains E27, E14 or G9, you keep control over the colour temperature. The LED models and modern lights cover both cases.
Warm white or cool white in the kitchen?
Warm white 2700 to 3500 K makes dishes appetising and warms wood as well as brass. Neutral white, 3500 to 4500 K, stays true on a coloured splashback or a grey worktop. Cool white 4500 to 6500 K gives sharp task lighting, to be kept for the worktop rather than the table.
Modern kitchen chandelier or pendant above the table?
A chandelier suits a large table or an open kitchen, a pendant suits an island or a narrower table. In the collection, widths range from Ø 42 cm to Ø 105 cm, with minimum and maximum heights adjustable at installation, to be set according to the table.
What height for a pendant above the table?
Generally, the light is lowered to 75 or 85 cm above the tabletop, a little higher under a tall ceiling. The maximum height given goes from 137 cm on Dallas to 200 cm on Edora and 160 cm on Solae, which leaves room to adjust before tightening the fixing. Take your table measurements before choosing.
How many pendants above an island?
On an island, two or three aligned points are better than one large fixture: each work area has its own light. A narrow island is fine with one piece. The Lueur Fluxion chandelier suits large tables, in metal and rope, from 60x100 cm to 120x30 cm. The Edora model with Ø 42 cm dome works well in a row. Find other pendants in the right size for large gatherings.
For a dining room next to the kitchen, the dining room lights complete the set without changing style.
Black or gold kitchen light: how to match styles and materials?
Black and gold dominate the selection, often on a metal or glass base. Black goes with light worktops and matt splashbacks, gold warms a white or wood kitchen. Silver and aluminium stay more discreet, rattan and bamboo bring a natural note.
Black kitchen light: with which materials?
Black structures a light kitchen: it underlines a white splashback and matches a concrete or slate worktop. The Bikkel black dome, in glass and metal, takes an E27 bulb in warm white. Black lights are often chosen in dome or cupola shapes.
Gold light on a light kitchen: how to match it?
On a white or light wood kitchen, gold warms without darkening. It works on brass, metal and glass, and matches rattan as well as bamboo. Gold lights dress a table or an island, while silver stays more understated. The metal light and the glass light cover most combinations.
How to install and maintain a kitchen light?
All models in the collection are IP20: they are intended for a dry room. The socket is chosen before purchase, E27, E14, G9 or LED, and the bulb wattage must respect the stated figure. Dimming is only possible on compatible models and the height is set before fixing.
Which socket to choose, E27, E14 or G9?
E27 for a large diffuser and a wide choice of bulbs, E14 for the thin sockets of glass carafes and chandeliers, G9 for oval pendants and multi-format designs. The stated wattage depends on the model and the bulb chosen. Check the socket on the product page before ordering the bulb, as in the Designix catalogue.
Can a dimmer be fitted to a kitchen light?
A dimmer cannot be added to just any model. On those that accept it, it switches from sharp task light to a softer table mood without changing the bulb. If you cook and entertain in the same room, that is the argument that counts. Maintenance is limited to dusting glass and metal, without abrasive products.
| Socket or technology | Bulb type | Wattages | Where to use it in the kitchen |
|---|---|---|---|
| E27 | Screw bulb, wide choice of temperatures | 40 W on the listed models | Kitchen and dining room pendants |
| E14 | Small screw socket | 40 W on the listed models | Chandeliers, glass carafes, thin sockets |
| G9 | Pin bulb | 28 W on the listed models | Oval pendants and multi-format designs |
| GU10 | Adjustable pin bulb | Not specified | Directed lighting |
| LED | Integrated module | 30 W listed | Mood lights and large formats |
Where to find an original pendant light for the kitchen?
The most singular models play on shape and material: ball, tube, oval or dome, in cut glass, smoked glass, rattan, bamboo, crystal or rope. Gold, black or white depending on the mood. These pendants are listed for the kitchen as well as an open living room.
Original pendant in cut glass or rattan?
Transparent cut glass, like the Grazio carafe in Ø 18 cm, throws reflections on the table and cleans with a soft cloth. The rattan and bamboo of the Erel pendant, available in 55, 65, 75, 85 and 100 cm, filters the light and softens a very white kitchen. The design lights bring these pieces together.
An original light for the living room too?
Several pendants in this selection are listed for the kitchen, dining room and living room: one piece then lights a kitchen open to the living area. This is the typical use of an original living room light, provided the installation height above the table is respected. The living room lights continue the same style.

Frequently asked questions
What are the trendy lights for a kitchen?
Suspended models above the island and table dominate, in metal and glass, often gold or black, with ball, tube, oval or dome shapes. The modern style comes first, ahead of contemporary and industrial. Height-adjustable pendants and rattan or bamboo models complete the trend.
Which light for a WC?
A kitchen light works in a WC if the room is dry: the models in the collection are IP20, intended for non-humid interior volumes. A compact wall light, such as an 18x8 cm format, lights a small space without cluttering it. For a toilet light, wall mounting remains the simplest.
What is an original pendant light?
It is a light whose shape or material stands out from standard models: transparent cut glass, dome with adjustable chain, smoked glass oval, woven rattan or bamboo, crystal, rope. Most are height-adjustable, from the ceiling to above the table or island.
