Plan one light per zone: a pendant above the island or worktop, a chandelier or ceiling light for general lighting, a wall light or table lamp as a supplement. This collection brings together pendants, chandeliers, ceiling lights and table lamps in glass and metal, in gold, black or white finishes, mostly with G9 and E27 sockets, IP20 rated.
Chandelier or pendant: which vintage kitchen lighting for a kitchen?
In a kitchen, a pendant and a chandelier do not light the same thing. The pendant, often G9 with one to three light points, sits above the island or worktop. The chandelier, wider and often E27, lights the table or the whole room.
Kitchen pendant
A pendant concentrates light on a precise surface. The HALO models, in aluminium and glass, drop to 120 cm and run on G9 sockets at 8 W: the beam falls on the worktop without lighting the whole room. For a long table, the HALO 3L pendant lines up three points over 40 cm, and the KELLO A pendant in glass and wood measures 27 cm wide with a maximum drop of 104 cm. These formats appear in the pendants for islands and tables.
Kitchen chandelier
A chandelier covers more ground and takes on the role of general lighting. The HALO 6 chandelier with six light points spans 64 cm in diameter on G9. The black and gold vintage chandelier combines metal, brass and solid wood, on E27 sockets at 24 W, with a dimmer. To compare the families, browse all the lights in the house.

What are the trending lights for a kitchen?
The models that come up most in this selection are modern, then vintage and contemporary. They combine glass and metal, sometimes aluminium, iron or brass, in gold, white, black, beige or green finishes. Round shapes and globes dominate, ahead of the tube, oval and dome.
Italian design kitchen pendant
Italian design shows in simple lines and in the working of glass and metal. The HALO pendants, in aluminium and glass, come close: round shapes, G9 sockets, 8 W, available in many colours from white to blue. The design lights for kitchens gather these clean silhouettes.
Original lights
When the kitchen stays visible from the living room, a strong piece changes the room. The XXL Tela pendant comes in 100 and 120 cm lengths, with adjustable GU10 spotlights, and accepts a dimmer. See also the pendants and chandeliers with unique design.
Modern kitchen chandelier or antique kitchen chandelier: which to choose?
A modern chandelier suits a kitchen with clean lines: aluminium, glass, round or tube shapes, G9 sockets for small light points. An antique or retro chandelier relies on brass, solid wood, copper and E27 sockets. Both are chosen first according to the mood of the furniture already in place.
Modern kitchen chandelier
Aluminium and glass, regular volumes, light spread over small points: that is the line of the modern lights for kitchens. The G9 socket takes 8 to 12 W bulbs, which is enough above a worktop. A few models accept a dimmer, useful in the evening. The warranty runs from two to five years depending on the model.
Antique kitchen chandelier
The charm comes from the material: brass, iron, copper, solid wood, crystal. The Jyla original kitchen chandelier combines brass and aluminium across 50 cm, on E27. The copper lights develop a patina that ages well, provided you avoid abrasive products.
At what height should a kitchen pendant be set above the table?
The cables in this collection are height adjustable. You set the drop so the bottom of the light stays above eye level, without dazzling people seated.
Setting the height above the table
As a rule, the bottom of a pendant sits around 70 to 80 cm above the tabletop, depending on the size of the guests and the width of the table. The stated cable heights are maximums: you shorten the cable, you do not lengthen it. The KELLO B pendant drops to 150 cm, handy under a high ceiling.
Lighting a central island
Over an island, the light targets the surface, not the eyes. Two or three spread points work better than a single thick volume. The HALO 3P hanging lamp drops to 125 cm for 25 cm in diameter. For a more graphic look, the black pendants blend into a dark ceiling.
Material, colour and socket: how to choose vintage kitchen lighting?
The material decides the effect: glass diffuses, metal and aluminium structure, brass and iron give the vintage patina. The colour follows the furniture: gold and white brighten, black and beige blend in, green adds a touch. The G9 socket equips most of the collection, ahead of E27 and E14.
Vintage kitchen lighting
Glass dominates by far, often paired with metal. It diffuses a soft light, without dazzling, which suits a worktop. In colour, gold comes first, followed by white and black: enough to match light furniture as well as a dark kitchen. See the beige lights for a discreet look.
Vintage kitchen chandelier
A vintage chandelier is recognised by its noble materials and its multiple light points. The E27 socket takes 24 to 60 W depending on the model, for a warm light around 2700 to 3500 K. For a carefully finished open room, the luxury lights push the work on materials further.
| Socket | Share of the collection | Materials that go with it | Stated wattages | Kitchen use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| G9 | 43 % | Aluminium, glass, metal, brass | 8 W, 12 W | Pendants, small-point beams, wall lights |
| E27 | 33 % | Metal, brass, solid wood, iron, crystal | 24 W, 40 W, 48 W, 60 W | Chandeliers and pendants with classic bulbs |
| E14 | 20 % | Metal, glass | Not stated for the listed models | Small supplementary lights |
| GU10 | 3 % | Metal, aluminium, acrylic | Not stated for the listed models | XXL pendant with adjustable spotlights |
How to install and maintain a vintage light in a kitchen?
Almost all the models in the collection are IP20: they go in the dry areas of the kitchen, not under direct water spray. Glass is cleaned with a soft, lint-free cloth, metal is dusted dry. The bulb is changed with the power off, without forcing the socket.
Installing a light above the worktop
Fix the mount to a solid point in the ceiling, never into a plasterboard rail alone, and plan the cable length before screwing. If the light is close to the sink or a hob, better protection is preferable: IP44 lights resist splashes, against IP20 in a dry area.
Cleaning glass and metal
Glass is washed in warm soapy water then dried straight away, to avoid marks. On metal and brass, a dry cloth is enough: abrasive pastes scratch the finish. For a supplement in a damp room, see the IP65 lights.
Large chandelier for a high ceiling: what solution for a tall kitchen?
Under a great height, the light must both drop low enough and fill the space. The HALO 6 chandelier, the XXL Tela pendant or the Tira ceiling chandelier offer suitable formats. Some models accept a dimmer.
Large chandelier for a high ceiling
A wide volume avoids the lost-lamp effect. The six points of the HALO 6 chandelier cover a large table, and its 230 cm cable allows it to drop to the right height. For an open dining room, compare with the dining room lights.
Ceiling chandelier above a table
A chandelier fixed to the ceiling suits when the height is standard and no cable is wanted. The Tira ceiling chandelier is 100 cm long for 12 cm high, on E27. It lights a whole room rather than a precise point.
Decorating a modern kitchen with a vintage light: how to pair it?
A vintage light fits into a modern kitchen if it picks up a colour already present: gold on a light worktop, black on a dark island, beige or green with second-hand furniture. The collection remains mostly modern in style, which limits the contrast. A restored piece of furniture and a vintage leather armchair go well with a patinated light.
Modern kitchen decoration
Choose the light after the worktop: it sets the reference colour. Gold warms a matte white, black underlines a graphic kitchen. In style, the design lights for living rooms open onto the neighbouring room if the kitchen connects. For a damp room or a small space, also take a look at the light for toilets.
Decor for a modern kitchen with a gold or black light
In an open kitchen, the same socket is often kept in both zones for even light. Gold and black are the most common finishes in the collection. If you are looking for a point of sale before ordering, note that a search for destockage luminaires Lyon mostly returns local listings: the simplest thing remains comparing product pages online. In an open room, a modern kitchen and a living room answer each other: the LED lights for living rooms extend the same mood, and the design lighting for the living room completes the whole.
Always check three points before ordering: the diameter or length of the light relative to your table, the maximum cable height, and the bulb socket. The collection grid shows the current price and availability of each reference.

Frequently asked questions about vintage kitchen lighting
What type of light for a kitchen?
Three families are enough: a pendant for the island or worktop, a chandelier or ceiling light for general lighting, a wall light or table lamp as a supplement. In this collection, pendants and chandeliers dominate, with G9 and E27 sockets and an IP20 protection rating for most models.
Which chandelier for a living room when you like vintage?
You find the same codes as in the kitchen: glass, metal, brass or copper, E27 or G9 sockets, mostly IP20. A model with several light points suits a large room or a high ceiling, where a single light would leave dark areas.
Which light for a toilet?
A toilet needs little light and a compact format. A model with a single light point, on a G9 or E14 socket, fits in more easily than a wide chandelier. As most of the lights in the collection are IP20, they are kept in a dry space, away from splashes.
Where to find a lighting shop in Lyon and lighting clearance stock?
The Designix selection can be browsed online, with secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and customer service. Whether you are looking for a lighting shop in Lyon or lighting clearance stock in Lyon, up-to-date information appears on each product page in the collection.
Vintage leather armchair: how to match the lighting in an open room?
A vintage leather armchair calls for warm light and a patinated material: brass, iron, copper or glass. In a kitchen open to the living room, the same socket is kept for both zones, G9 or E27, and a gold, black or beige finish already present in the room is picked up again.
