Allow 45 cm from the wall for an adjustable-arm wall light (Retina) or 55 cm (Pernilla) to read in bed, or a floor lamp next to the living room armchair. Bronze is the dominant finish in this selection: metal frames on wall or floor, lighting in warm white between 2700 and 3500 K, with a dimmer on some models.

Bronze reading light or bronze-coloured reading light: what are we talking about?
A bronze reading light is a supplementary luminaire whose metal frame has a bronze finish, matte or brushed. The bronze colour appears on most models in this selection, mounted as a wall light or on a stand, with glass, fabric or plastic parts depending on the model.
Bronze reading light: the finish above all
Bronze refers to the finish, not the structure: the frame is metal, sometimes completed with plastic on the moving parts, and the shade comes from the surface treatment. Depending on the model, bronze appears alone or combined with white, silver or gold, which is enough to change the final look.
Bronze-coloured reading light: what it changes in the room
A bronze shade absorbs light rather than reflecting it, unlike a chrome metal. The result: a discreet point of light that warms a white wall or a wooden piece of furniture without drawing the eye. To vary the mood, compare with gold finishes and a black version.
How to choose your bronze reading light according to the room?
The living room is the most represented room in this selection, ahead of the bedroom, then the hallway and the office. In the living room, a floor or arc lamp lights an armchair or a sofa; in the bedroom and office, an adjustable-arm wall light frees up the bedside table.
Bronze reading light for the living room
On a stand, the luminaire moves with rearrangements: the Orinorano floor lamp reaches 140 cm with a 35 cm reach, to place next to an armchair. An arc model, on the other hand, overhangs the sofa without taking up floor space: that is the role of the Candoris arc, with a 60 cm diameter shade. To broaden your search, browse floor reading lights.
Wall reading light for the bedroom, office or hallway
An adjustable-arm wall light is fixed above the bed and replaces the bedside lamp: the Retina wall light reaches 45 cm from the wall. In the office, an articulated arm follows the work surface, as on the Bronzor and its two arms. Find other formats in bedside reading lights.
| Room | Type of luminaire | Measured dimensions | Socket |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living room | Floor or arc lamp | H 135 to 240 cm, reach 35 cm, arc 160 to 240 cm | E27 |
| Bedroom | Adjustable-arm wall light | H 20 cm, D 45 cm | Integrated LED |
| Office | Articulated wall light | D 55 to 90 cm | LED or E27 |
| Hallway | Round wall light or light bar | L 60 x H 9 cm; 30 x 36 cm | LED or G4 |
Adjustable arm, arc or light bar: which shape for reading?
Round shapes dominate the selection, followed by tubes and articulated-arm models; the arc remains rarer. An adjustable arm sends light exactly where you read, a light bar illuminates widely, an arc projects light above the sofa without cluttering the floor.
Adjustable and articulated arm
The adjustable arm is set once and for all towards the book, the articulated one folds and unfolds as needed. That is the difference between the adjustable Pernilla wall light, 55 cm deep, and a two-arm model covering two seats. These worked shapes also make real decorative pieces, to see in more elaborate shapes.
Arc floor lamp and light bar
The arc is chosen to overhang a sofa or table without a base in the middle of the walkway: its reach goes from 160 to 240 cm depending on the setting. The light bar, on the other hand, illuminates widely and horizontally, which destines it as much to a work surface as to a painting, like the Tabella light bar (60 cm long, 9 cm high). The collection brings together 13 models.
Which light for reading without glare?
Most models in this selection light in warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, the most comfortable temperature for reading in the evening. Sockets are divided between E27, which lets you choose the bulb, and integrated LED; G4 concerns more compact models.
Colour temperature: warm white or cool white?
A warm white around 2700 to 3500 K rests the eye at the end of the day, which suits a bedside or living room reading light. Neutral white (3500 to 4500 K) and cool white (4500 to 6500 K) remain in the minority here and are rather reserved for an office or a hallway, where a whiter rendering is sought. In general, avoid mixing the two temperatures in the same room.
E27 socket, integrated LED or G4: what to plan for?
An E27 socket accepts an interchangeable bulb: you choose the power and temperature, and you replace the bulb if needed. An integrated LED fixes the light at the factory, with no bulb to buy again. A G4 socket equips small points of light, as on round wall lights like our indoor luminaires.
| Feature | What it changes |
|---|---|
| E27 socket | You choose the power and temperature of the bulb |
| LED socket | No bulb to buy again, light fixed by the model |
| G4 socket | Compact lighting on round wall lights |
| Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Evening reading light, the most common here |
| Neutral or cool white | Whiter rendering, rather in an office or hallway |
| IP20 protection rating | Reserved for dry, indoor rooms |
How to install and maintain a bronze reading light?
Check the reach before drilling: it goes from 45 to 90 cm on arm models and 35 cm on the Orinorano floor lamp, so that the shade arrives above the book. All models are IP20, so reserved for dry rooms. A soft cloth is enough for the bronze metal.
Height, reach and fixing
Fix the wall light at seated shoulder height, around 60 to 80 cm from the floor for an armchair, and allow for the reach so that the flow falls on the page and not in your eyes. A power of 40 W in E27 on the Hespera floor lamp is enough for a reading corner without lighting the whole room. For a bathroom or a damp room, another luminaire is needed: no model in this selection is designed for water splashes.
Maintaining the bronze finish
Dust the frame and the shade with a soft, dry cloth, without abrasive products or a damp sponge that can tarnish the finish. Glass parts are cleaned separately, and you never spray a product directly on the luminaire. A two-year warranty covers every model in the selection.
How to match a bronze reading light with your decor?
Bronze matches contemporary and modern interiors, which make up most of the selection, and also works in industrial or vintage style. It pairs with white, beige and clear glass; for a sharper contrast, place it on a dark wall or near a wooden piece of furniture.
With a contemporary or industrial interior
In contemporary style, a matte bronze blends into a sober decor, provided you keep only one visible metal finish per room. In industrial style, it keeps company with raw metal and glass, as on round wall lights. To change register, take a look at white reading lights or LED floor reading lights.
With white, black or wood
On a white wall, bronze brings the only warm note to the room. On a black or anthracite wall, it stands out and draws an articulated-arm silhouette. Near a wooden piece of furniture, it stays in the same family of warm shades: see how to combine metal with wood and find the whole family in the Designix luminaire catalogue.
Which bronze reading light to choose in this selection?
For a reading arm on the wall, adjustable-arm wall lights like Retina, Bronzor or Pernilla are fixed near the bed or sofa. To place light on the floor, Orinorano, Hespera and the Candoris arc light a living room without drilling. Each model is guaranteed for two years.
The adjustable wall lights
The Retina adjustable-arm wall light is the most discreet: 20 cm high, 45 cm deep, a single 10 W point of light in warm white. The Bronzor adds a second arm and is dimmable, which suits a shared office. The adjustable Pernilla wall light combines glass and metal, over 55 cm of depth, with a dimmer.
The floor lamps
The Orinorano floor lamp combines opal glass and bronze on a 25 cm diameter base: a conical shade that diffuses without glare. The Hespera reaches 135 cm with an adjustable arm 45 cm in diameter, useful for directing light towards an armchair. To cover a large sofa, the Candoris arc and its white pleated shade reach up to 240 cm.

Frequently asked questions about bronze reading lights
What is the difference between a bronze reading light and a bronze-coloured reading light?
It is the same thing: bronze refers to the finish applied to the metal frame. The bronze shade is the most frequent in this selection, but some models combine bronze with white, silver or gold. The rendering therefore varies slightly from one model to another.
Can a bronze reading light be installed in a bathroom?
No, all models in this selection are rated IP20, a protection intended for dry, indoor rooms. In a bathroom or a damp room, a luminaire whose protection rating is suited to water splashes is required.
Which bulb should be used in a bronze reading light?
It all depends on the socket: E27 models accept an interchangeable bulb that you choose in warm white, integrated LED models have a light fixed at the factory, and some compact models use a G4 socket. Check the socket indicated before purchase.
Is a bronze reading light dimmable?
Some models are compatible with a dimmer, which allows you to lower the light for evening reading. On the others, the intensity cannot be adjusted: you must choose your bulb and position accordingly.
How to maintain the bronze finish of a reading light?
A soft, dry cloth is enough to dust the metal frame and the shade. Avoid abrasive or overly damp products, which can tarnish the finish. Glass models are cleaned separately, never spraying directly on the luminaire.
