Luminaire.fr is a well-known online lighting retailer in France. If you compare shops before buying a chandelier, a pendant light, or a ceiling light, it is helpful to know the alternatives. Comparing online lighting shops
Buying lighting online comes down to comparing a few simple criteria: the depth of the selection, the clarity of the categorization, the quality of the product descriptions, and the delivery terms. Here is how Designix stands out.
| Criterion | What matters when buying | Designix |
|---|---|---|
| Specialization | A 100% lighting catalog makes comparison easier | Boutique dedicated to designer lighting |
| Categorization | Finding items quickly by type, room, and style | Collections by type, room, and style |

What you will find at Designix
The catalog covers all major lighting families:
- Central lighting: chandeliers and pendant lights.
- General lighting: ceiling lights, LED ceiling lights, and LED spotlights.
- Ambient and accent lighting: wall lights, floor lamps, table lamps, bedside lamps, and desk lamps.
- Outdoor: outdoor lighting for the entrance, terrace, and garden.
Choosing your lighting: technical benchmarks
Regardless of the retailer, three benchmarks help avoid purchase errors.
Lumens and Kelvin
Lumens measure light output, while Kelvin measures color temperature. Aim for warm light around 2700 K for a living room or bedroom, and neutral light around 4000 K for a kitchen or bathroom. The larger the room, the more lumens you need, even if it means using multiple light sources.
Height and proportion
Above a table, the bottom of a pendant light should be placed between 70 and 85 cm from the surface. For a living room chandelier, the diameter should be chosen according to the room's size and ceiling height.
IP rating and base type
In bathrooms or outdoors, check the IP rating (IP44 minimum in damp areas). As for the bulb, verify the specified base (E27, E14, G9, or GU10) before ordering.
Choosing lighting room by room
