A 220V LED table lamp plugs into a standard wall socket and takes an interchangeable LED bulb. You choose the cap, the colour temperature and the brightness of the bulb, without touching the electrical circuit. All the lamps in this selection combine metal and steel, with an IP20 rating and a G9, E14 or E27 cap.
What exactly is a 220V LED table lamp?
220V LED table lamps: what plugging into a socket changes
220 volts is the mains voltage: the lamp plugs directly into a socket, with no transformer or low-voltage supply. No electrical work, no connection to the consumer unit. You move it from room to room and switch it on with its own switch, whereas a ceiling light or a wall light stays fixed to the building. All our lighting works on this principle.
G9, E14 or E27 cap: which bulb goes in your lamp
The cap is the bulb connector and must match the one on the light fitting, with no adapter. G9 is a small two-pin cap, E14 a small screw thread, E27 the widest screw thread. G9 is used on compact formats, E14 on the opal globe Borean, E27 on the 35 cm cylinders. For the bulb, allow around 2700 K for a warm evening light and 4000 K for a more neutral working white.
| Model | Dimensions (L × W × H) | Cap | Wattage | Colour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eirlys | 18 × 18 × 24 cm | G9 | 8W | White |
| Solvind | 18 × 18 × 24 cm | G9 | 8W | Orange |
| Marisol | 20 × 16 × 16 cm | G9 | 8W | Gold |
| Borean | 20 cm L × 50 cm H | E14 | 10W | White |
| Loreta | 25 × 25 × 35 cm | E27 | 15W | Black and gold |
| Fibra | 25 × 25 × 35 cm | E27 | 15W | Black |
These seven references make up all our designer LED table lamps, from the small bedside size to the 35 cm cylinder.
What light does a 220V LED table lamp give in a living room?
Allow for an 8 to 15W accent light, placed near the sofa or armchair: it lights the reading area and leaves the rest of the room in ambience. The ceiling light remains the general source, the table lamp complements it. The colour temperature depends only on the bulb you screw into the cap.
An accent lamp, not a ceiling light
A table lamp is not meant to light an entire room. It creates a local pool of light, at seating height, that makes the living room corner readable without switching on the ceiling. It is also the source you keep on in the evening when watching a film. For a purely decorative effect, designer table lamps for the living room play this role without taking up floor space.
Dome, cylinder or opal globe shade: what it changes in the result
The dome, as on the Eirlys bedside lamp, sends light downwards and to the sides: handy for reading. The cylinder (Loreta, Notturna) diffuses vertically and draws a column of light. The opal globe of Borean softens and diffuses. On Fibra, the woven fibres filter the light and cast a pattern on the wall. For a more modern look, see the modern accent lighting for the living room.
Where to place a 220V LED table lamp: bedroom, living room or office?
Measure the available width before choosing: 16 to 20 cm in diameter for the compact models (Eirlys, Solvind, Marisol), 25 cm for the cylinders (Loreta, Fibra, Notturna), and 50 cm in height for Borean. On a narrow shelf, stay under 20 cm. Beyond that, the lamp overhangs and gets in the way.
On a bedside table, what footprint to allow
A standard bedside table is 35 to 45 cm wide: an 18 cm diameter model leaves room for a book and a glass of water, a 25 cm cylinder already takes up two thirds. For a cluttered bedside table, the LED table lamps for the bedroom in compact format are the safest choice.
At the desk: avoid the shadow of your hand on the keyboard
Place the lamp on the opposite side to your writing hand, at shoulder height if possible: the shadow then falls behind the keyboard and not on it. A 24 cm format like Eirlys or Solvind is enough for a work surface. The compact table lamps for the office also fit close to a screen without dazzling.
| Room | Use | Suitable format | Cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bedroom | Reading in bed | Compact, 16 to 24 cm | G9 |
| Living room | Ambience near the sofa | 35 cm cylinder or 50 cm globe | E27 or E14 |
| Office | Work surface | Compact, 24 cm | G9 |
| Hallway | Accent light | Small format | G9 |
How to choose between a Nordic, minimalist or industrial table lamp?
Style is read first in the shape of the shade and the colour, not on a label. Nordic dominates here, with understated domes and cylinders. Minimalist plays on simple volumes, industrial on a flat circular shade. The woven rattan of Fibra adds a warmer texture on a metal base.
White, black, gold or orange: which colour for which room
White visually disappears on a light wall and suits small rooms. Black structures a living room corner and pairs with dark woods, as on black table lamps for the living room. The gold of Marisol and its circular shade brings a bright point without switching on. The orange of Solvind warms up a bedroom or a white office.
Metal, steel or woven rattan: what it changes day to day
Metal and steel dust off with a wipe and do not mind rubbing. Woven rattan needs a little more care: a feather duster, not a damp sponge. In terms of style, the gold and black finishes are found in gold and black table lamps, and the light versions in the white designer models.
How to connect several lamps to a single power supply?
Each lamp plugs into a 220V socket. To power several from a single supply, connect a multi-socket extension or a socket strip to that supply, then add up the wattage of each bulb and each device to stay below the limit indicated on the extension lead and on the circuit breaker.
Extension lead or socket strip: the simplest solution
An extension lead is enough for two or three bedside lamps around the same bed. A socket strip fixed to the wall is better behind a sofa or along a work surface, because it avoids a cable trailing on the floor. In both cases, keep the sockets accessible so you can cut the power quickly.
What to check before combining several light fittings
Three points: the total connected wattage, the limit marked on the extension lead, and the rating of the circuit breaker protecting the circuit. An 8 to 15W table lamp counts for little in the total, but a charger, a computer or a heater plugged into the same extension lead change the sum. Never daisy-chain two extension leads. For damp rooms, see instead the table lamps for the kitchen, provided the IP rating is respected.
Table lamp, ceiling light, chandelier or LED wall light: what to choose for each room?
The LED ceiling light and the LED chandelier light an entire room from the ceiling. The LED wall light lights a wall or a work surface without taking up floor space. The table lamp remains the mobile accent, within reach. A well-lit room combines several of these sources.
LED ceiling light or chandelier: when the light comes from above
The LED ceiling light is fixed near the ceiling and diffuses downwards or around the edge: it is the general light of a living room or hallway. The LED chandelier hangs lower and remains visible as a decorative element, often above a table. Both are chosen according to ceiling height and the area to cover, not on aesthetics alone.
LED wall light and cuttable LED strip: wall lighting
The LED wall light frees up floor space and lights where a lamp would not fit, above a desk or in a stairwell. The cuttable LED strip, on the other hand, is cut at the marks on the circuit to follow the exact length of a shelf. These solutions are fixed: they do not replace the mobility of a table lamp. To vary the styles, compare the designer models for the bedroom and the designer table lamps for the office.
How to install and maintain an IP20 table lamp day to day?
IP20 means the lamp is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5 mm, but not against water. Install it indoors, in a dry room, away from a sink or bathtub. Clean with a dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth on the metal, and always change the bulb with the power off.
IP20: what it allows and what it forbids
Allowed: bedroom, living room, office, hallway, bathroom cabinet away from splashes. Forbidden: outdoors, damp bathroom, poolside, flood-prone basement. None of the models in this selection is suitable for these areas. In a bathroom, a higher IP rating is required, with at least IP44 around a washbasin.
Cleaning steel and rattan without damaging the finish
On painted or blackened metal, a damp microfibre cloth is enough; avoid abrasive sponges and ammonia-based products that dull gold finishes. On the woven rattan of the Fibra model in woven fibres, use a feather duster or the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner, without water. For metal bases, the metal table lamps for the office clean as quickly as they move.
What budget should you allow for a 220V LED table lamp and what does the warranty cover?
The price depends on the metal, the format and the finish: small steel models are the most affordable, large formats and gold finishes are higher. The collection grid shows the current price of each lamp. The warranty covers two years on the entire selection, without exception.
Italian, Nordic or contemporary design: what makes the price vary
An Italian-design piece is recognisable by the slenderness of the base, the quality of the lacquer and the work on the shade: this explains the difference with a standard model. Nordic focuses on simplicity of volume, and therefore on a more contained cost. Contemporary, with a flat shade or a central stem, requires more shaping. None of these styles alone guarantees better light: the bulb you choose matters just as much.
The 2-year warranty on the entire selection
The seven lamps on this page are covered for two years, whatever the colour or format. Keep your proof of purchase: it is all you need for any claim. Changing the bulb remains your responsibility, as the warranty covers the light fitting and its assembly. To compare finishes, browse the designer selection of table lamps or the designer wooden table lamps.
Unsure about the format? Measure your furniture, note the clear height and compare with the dimensions table above. The Solvind lamp in orange and Loreta in black and gold illustrate the two extremes of the selection, in both diameter and wattage.

Frequently asked questions
Do LEDs use a lot of electricity?
No. An LED converts most of the energy into light rather than heat: at comparable brightness, it uses far less than a halogen or incandescent bulb. On an 8 to 15W table lamp, consumption remains low even when left on for several hours.
Which bulb should I choose between a G9, E14 and E27 cap?
The cap must match the one on the lamp, with no adapter. G9 is a small two-pin cap, E14 a small screw thread, E27 the widest. Then choose the colour temperature and brightness of the bulb according to use: warm for the bedroom, more neutral for the office.
How do you cut a cuttable LED strip?
A cuttable LED strip is cut only at the marks on the circuit, never between two marks. Cut straight with clean scissors, then check the connection direction before switching the power back on. Cutting elsewhere damages the line and switches off the section.
Can a 220V LED table lamp be placed in a bathroom?
The models in this selection are IP20, protected against solids but not against water. They are intended for dry rooms: bedroom, living room, office. In a bathroom, a higher IP rating is required, suitable for water splashes.
What is the difference between an LED ceiling light and an LED chandelier?
The LED ceiling light is fixed near the ceiling and diffuses downwards or around the edge. The LED chandelier hangs lower and remains visible as a decorative element, often above a table. Both light an entire room: the table lamp complements them, it does not replace them.
