Start with the height and the space available: from 19 to 55 cm depending on the model, and up to 170 cm for the Sereina, a black LED table lamp slips onto a console, a bedside table or a shelf. The socket, E27, GU10 or G9, then decides the bulb and the light you get, in a dry room since the whole selection is IP20.

Which black LED table lamp for which room?

Most models suit the living room and the bedroom, many the office, a few the hallway or the kitchen. First choose the format according to the surface to occupy, then the socket and the style. A black lamp structures the room without darkening it: the shade spreads the light downwards or to the sides.

Black LED table lamps for the living room and the bedroom

In a living room, the lamp sits on a console, a side table or the edge of a shelf. In a bedroom, it takes its place on the bedside table, at a height that does not get in the way of reading. The Sereina bedside lamp in linen with a golden interior filters the light, Notturna and Loreta play on the rounded base in metal and steel, Ursara shows a drum shade. The LED table lamps for the bedroom favour small volumes.

Office, hallway, kitchen: the compact formats

On a worktop, look for a directed beam and a stable base. Finola, the adjustable tube in aluminium sits near the keyboard, Lentia adds a lens, Saffira points its base downwards. Lunlinina lets its filament bulb show, Sylvanis fits within 12 cm of diameter for a kitchen shelf. The black table lamps for the office gather these short formats, just like the models designed for the office.

Which black table lamp for which room
Room What you look for Criteria to check Models in the collection
Living room A secondary light on a console or a coffee table Height, diffusing shade, style Ventura, Notturna, Ursara
Bedroom A soft light near the bed Compact format, E27 socket, adjustable intensity Sereina, Bohlia, Syllara
Office A directed light on the worktop Adjustability, stable base, tube or lens Finola, Lentia, Saffira
Hallway A light point on a piece of furniture or a shelf Small footprint, graphic silhouette Bohlia, Lunlinina, Ventura
Kitchen A complement on a worktop or a shelf Small diameter, easy cleaning Sylvanis, Finola, Lunlinina

E27, GU10 or G9 socket: which to choose for a black table lamp?

The E27 socket equips most models: it accepts many bulbs, including visible filaments. GU10 is found on adjustable models, G9 on the most compact ones. Check the socket stated on the product page before ordering, it determines the bulb and the light you get.

E27 socket: the most common on table lamps

A screw bulb is available everywhere and is replaced without tools. It is the socket of Lunlinina, of Noxid with a rectangular metal frame and of Syllara. It opens the widest choice of temperatures and bulb shapes. No bulb is presumed included: each page states the socket of the fixture, up to you to add the bulb that matches the mood you want.

GU10 and G9: adjustable models and compact formats

GU10 equips directed lamps, whose beam is adjusted by hand: Finola, Saffira and Diabola sit above a worktop. G9 concerns small integrated volumes, such as Sylvanis and Lentia, where the bulb almost disappears inside the fixture. These two families are found in the adjustable table lamps, to favour when the light must fall precisely.

The sockets available on these black table lamps
Socket Presence in the selection Bulb type What it changes
E27 The majority of models Screw bulb, including visible filament The widest choice of bulbs and temperatures
GU10 On several adjustable models Pin bulb, directed beam A precise, adjustable light
G9 On compact models Small pin bulb Reduced format, integrated into the fixture

Which power and which light for a black LED table lamp?

The stated powers range from 8 to 40 W depending on the model, in LED or to be fitted with a bulb of the right socket. Some models declare a warm white of 2700 to 3500 K, others accept a dimmer. Power guides the choice, without guaranteeing the final mood on its own.

Reading the stated power

A lamp of 8 to 15 W is enough for a nearby secondary light: bedside table, reading corner, shelf. Models stated up to 40 W light a console or a desk more widely, provided you choose the bulb accordingly. The stated power says nothing about the exact result: it is the bulb you install that sets the perceived intensity, so first trust the use you will make of it.

Temperatures and dimmer

The warm white of 2700 to 3500 K is declared on a small part of the selection: it suits rooms for relaxing. Some models also accept a dimmer, such as Bohlia, Ursara, Syllara and Norsk, provided you install a dimmable bulb. Compare these uses in the design LED table lamps.

Which style and which material for a black table lamp?

Metal dominates, often combined with steel or aluminium; rattan, linen, wood and fabric appear on a few models. The Nordic, minimalist and modern registers are the most represented, ahead of contemporary and industrial. The material changes the rendering of the light as much as the look.

Metal, steel and aluminium: clean lines

A stem in steel or aluminium draws a fine silhouette and returns a clear light, without a yellow halo. This is the case for Ventura, Lentia and Sylvanis in aluminium and glass. This choice structures a sober decor and is dusted in one gesture. To go further in this register, browse the Nordic style table lamps.

Rattan, linen, wood and fabric: filtered light

A textile or woven shade softens the beam and tempers contrasts. Fibra braids natural fibres, Sereina dresses in linen, Norsk mixes wood and metal. These materials are limited to a few pieces of the selection, detailed in the table lamps with a linen shade. They get dirty less quickly than you would think, provided you dust them regularly.

Styles and materials of black table lamps
Style Associated materials Mood
Nordic Metal, steel, rattan, wood Sober lines, soft light
Minimalist Steel, aluminium, metal Clean silhouette, small footprint
Modern Aluminium, steel, glass, plastic Tube, ball, frame shapes
Contemporary Metal, fabric, plastic Geometric frames, drum shade
Industrial Metal, brass Visible frame, visible bulb

Black and white LED table lamps: how to play the contrast?

The black colour dresses every model, often combined with white, gold, beige or brown. In a bright room, a black lamp creates a visual anchor point; white and gold lighten the silhouette. The choice is made according to the contrast you want, not according to a fixed rule.

Matching a black lamp to a bright room

On a white or beige wall, a black lamp draws a clear marker without heaviness, since only the structure is dark. Notturna combines black with white, Ventura and Lunlinina play white and black on the frame, Saffira stays two-tone. The light interior of a shade sends the light downwards. The black and gold finishes warm the silhouette even more.

Black and gold, black and beige, black and white: the duos that work

Two identical lamps on either side of a sofa or a bed give a readable symmetry. Gold brings a warm touch on the details, beige and brown soften an already dark interior. It is better to stick to two finishes per room: beyond that, the eye no longer knows where to rest. The design white table lamps serve as a counterpoint.

Table lamp or floor lamp: which to choose for the living room?

A table lamp sits on a table, a console or a piece of furniture, with heights from 19 to 55 cm depending on the model, and up to 170 cm for the Sereina. A floor lamp lights higher and serves as a vertical secondary light. In a living room, the two often complement each other rather than oppose each other.

What a table lamp changes in a living room

It moves as you wish: on the console in the evening, near the armchair for reading. Its height, from 19 to 55 cm, destines it to a local light that does not flood the room. It is the format of the black table lamps for the living room, easy to move without reconnecting anything.

When a floor lamp takes over

A base on the floor lights from higher, frees the table and occupies an empty corner. It serves as the main source in a living room with few ceiling points. The two formats coexist well: a floor lamp for the mood, a table lamp for proximity. Find them in all our light fixtures.

Table lamp, ceiling light, chandelier or wall light: which fixture to choose?

A ceiling light or a chandelier lights the whole room from the ceiling, a wall light frees the floor and the table, a table lamp creates a local and movable light. The choice depends on the surface to light and on the possibility of drilling or connecting a fixed point.

LED ceiling light or chandelier: general light

They light the whole of a room and require a connection point on the ceiling. The chandelier brings volume above a table, the ceiling light is more discreet in a hallway or a bedroom. These families are compared in the Designix lighting catalogue, alongside the table lamps.

Wall light and table lamp: secondary light

The wall light frees the whole floor surface but requires drilling and a connection. The table lamp plugs into a socket and moves when the decor changes. In a living room, the design table lamps for the living room take over from fixed points without any work.

How to connect several lamps to a single electrical supply?

Several table lamps can share the same supply: the power is grouped on a multi-socket or in a junction box, staying within the limit of the line. Add up the power of the installed bulbs, then have the installation checked by an electrician if you are unsure.

Multi-socket or junction box

The multi-socket suits two or three table lamps, without modifying the installation. The junction box is used when the fixtures are far apart and the cables must be grouped neatly. In both cases, you add up the stated powers of the bulbs and stay under the limit of the protected line. A fixed installation is entrusted to a professional.

What the socket changes

Each model in the selection plugs into a socket, with an E27, GU10 or G9 bulb depending on its product page. The power drawn therefore depends on the bulb you install, not on the fixture alone. A low-power LED bulb leaves more margin than a classic bulb on the same line. See the design table lamps for the office often grouped this way.

How to care for a black table lamp in metal, rattan or linen?

Metal, steel and aluminium are dusted with a soft cloth, without an abrasive product. Rattan, linen, wood and fabric are cleaned dry, with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner on the gentle setting. All these lamps are IP20: reserved for dry rooms, never for the bathroom.

Metal, steel and aluminium

A soft, dry cloth is enough to remove dust from the stem and the base. Avoid abrasive sponges and harsh household products, which scratch the black finish. Unplug before cleaning and let it dry before plugging it back in. The black metal bedside lamps simply need a regular wipe.

Rattan, linen, wood and fabric

On a woven or textile shade, use the soft brush or the vacuum cleaner on the lowest setting, without rubbing. Moisture warps rattan and marks linen: reserve these materials for dry rooms and keep them away from a kitchen window. The design models for the bedroom are cared for in a few minutes.

One last point before choosing: your order is covered by secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and the Designix customer service. Select the Bohlia and its woven bamboo shade for a reading corner, or the Sylvanis in aluminium and glass for a narrow shelf, and add the bulb with the right socket when you order.

Frequently asked questions about black LED table lamps

What is an Italian design table lamp?

It is a register of sculptural and clean shapes, often in metal, aluminium or glass, with tubes, balls or adjustable bases. In this selection, Sylvanis, Lentia and Finola take up the spirit, without imitating a specific brand. The result comes mainly from the fineness of the stem and the choice of bulb.

Black and white LED table lamps: how to match them?

Choose black as the base and white as a breath of air: a light shade on a black base, or the opposite. White and gold lighten a dark silhouette, beige and brown warm it. Two identical lamps framing a sofa are often enough.

Can a dimmer be installed on a black table lamp?

Some models in the collection are compatible with a dimmer, others are not. Compatibility depends both on the fixture and on the chosen bulb: a non-dimmable bulb cannot be controlled, even on a model designed for it. Check both before buying.

Is a black table lamp suitable for a damp room?

No. All the models in this collection are IP20, a rating that corresponds to dry rooms: living room, bedroom, office, hallway or kitchen. For a bathroom, you need a fixture whose protection rating is suited to moisture.

What warranty applies to black table lamps?

The warranty is two years on most models and five years on part of the selection. It covers the fixture according to the manufacturer's conditions. The details appear on each product page, to check before buying, just like the socket and the material.

Should the bulb be bought with the table lamp?

No bulb is presumed included: the product page states the socket of the fixture, E27, GU10 or G9, up to you to add the bulb. A visible filament bulb suits open frame models, a narrow beam bulb suits adjustable models. Plan for it from the order to enjoy the lamp straight away.
