A wall strip light mounts as a wall fixture and washes the wall with grazing light, without taking up floor or worktop space. It fits in a bathroom, a hallway, a staircase, a living room or a bedroom, and even on a terrace in the IP65 versions.

What light does a wall strip light give and where should it go?

A wall strip light washes the wall with grazing light, without taking up floor or worktop space. It fits in a bathroom, a hallway, a staircase, a living room or a bedroom, and even on a terrace in the IP65 versions. The models in this selection combine integrated LED, aluminium or metal, in black or grey. The warm white temperature, around 2700 to 3500 K, is only stated on some references: check the product page of the model you want.

Bathroom wall strip light: the effect of a line of light

In a bathroom, the strip light mounts above or beside the mirror and draws a continuous line on the wall. The effect comes from the length of the diffuser more than from the wattage: the Obelix IP54 wall tube measures 610 mm for 10 W and is enough to light a vanity top without glare. Most of the pieces in this selection are in fact designed for the bathroom.

Hallway and staircase wall strip light: light without clutter

In a hallway or on a staircase, the strip light replaces a bulky ceiling fixture and guides movement. A low, elongated format, like the matte Tubaluce tube at 550 mm, mounts on the side wall and runs down along the steps. To compare the formats and wattages available, browse LED strip lights.

Which wall light should you choose for a living room?

In a living room, a wall light works as accent lighting or to highlight the wall. A slim black aluminium line stays discreet above a sofa, while a longer model lights a large wall or a reading corner. Check length and IP rating before mounting. The collection covers everything from a small 220 mm module to a one metre bar.

Modern living room wall light: slim lines and understated colours

A modern living room copes badly with fussy fixtures. The Wendélia black light bar is one metre long for 21 W, in black aluminium with a round mount: it underlines a whole wall without weighing it down. Placed as a symmetrical pair either side of a piece of furniture, it structures the room. Black and grey dominate the selection, white stays rare.

Powerful living room wall light: how far can it light

To genuinely light a reading corner, aim for a model whose light is directed downwards, for example the rectangular wall light with downward-oriented lighting, rather than a diffuse halo across the whole room. Useful wattage goes up to 30 W on the large-format modules. To build a coherent living room, also look at all the wall lights and the linear LED wall lighting options.

LED wall strip light, tube or light bar: how to choose the shape?

A tube wall strip light suits long walls and clean lines, a shorter light bar suits small spaces, and a rectangle directed downwards suits vanity tops. Choose the length according to the width of the wall to light, not the room alone. The tube is the most common shape in the selection, ahead of the bar, the rectangle and the cylinder.

LED wall strip light: integrated fitting or E27 bulb?

Integrated LED equips almost every model: it cannot be replaced, but it lasts and stays slim. A few references use an E27 fitting with a replaceable bulb: more flexible, a little bulkier. If you want to be able to change the light temperature later, E27 keeps the advantage. The rest of the models are chosen on wattage and size.

Which strip length for which wall?

Allow roughly half to two thirds of the width of the wall to be underlined, without crossing the corners. Lengths actually available run from 220 mm to 1,000 mm. The table below lists the stated dimensions, IP rating, wattage and fitting of the models in the collection.

Dimensions, wattages and IP ratings of the models
Model Stated dimensions IP rating Wattage Fitting Main room
Obelix H 75 mm / W 100 mm / L 610 mm IP54 10 W LED Bathroom

Rovélio H 75 mm / W 100 mm / L 810 mm IP54 17 W LED Bathroom
Delvino H 62 mm / W 900 mm / L 72 mm IP44 13 W LED Bathroom
Avellane H 60 mm / W 90 mm / L 600 mm IP44 15 W LED Bathroom
Chromius H 63 mm / W 600 mm / L 95 mm IP44 15 W LED Bathroom
Tubaluce H 38 mm / W 550 mm / L 80 mm IP44 16 W LED Bathroom
Valérié H 310 mm / W 93 mm / L 63 mm IP44 7 W LED Bathroom
Rosmilessa H 90 mm / W 110 mm / L 31 mm IP65 3 W LED Outdoor, terrace
Petralux H 90 mm / W 300 mm / L 31 mm IP65 20 W LED Outdoor, terrace
Modulea H 65 mm / W 500 mm / L 75 mm IP65 30 W LED Outdoor, terrace
Allonga H 32 mm / W 220 mm / L 75 mm IP54 12 W LED Outdoor, terrace

Other formats and other lengths appear among the LED strip light models in different lengths. If you are hesitating between several families of fixtures, choosing a light for the home helps you decide.

Which IP rating for a wall strip light in a bathroom or outdoors?

In a bathroom, choose at least IP44 to withstand splashes; in a wet room or under a canopy, IP54 is safer; outdoors and on a terrace, aim for IP65. An IP20 model is reserved for dry rooms such as the living room or bedroom. In this selection, IP44 accounts for around a third of the references, IP54 nearly three tenths, IP65 a fifth.

Waterproof outdoor wall light: IP65 for terrace and facade

Outdoors, IP65 protects against both rain and dust, which limits maintenance. The Modulea outdoor linear module combines 500 mm of length, 30 W and a graphite finish. For a simple accent effect on a facade, a small 110 mm halo is enough. Find these references in the waterproof strip light collection.

Toilet and bathroom wall light: avoid IP20

In a bathroom or toilet, an IP20 is exposed to splashes and deteriorates. Take at least IP44, IP54 in the zone close to the shower. Aluminium or metal bodies withstand humidity better than a fabric model, which should be kept for dry rooms. Compare the waterproof outdoor wall lights if your wet room is heavily exposed.

Which wall strip light for which room
Room Recommended IP rating Models in the collection Type of lighting
Bathroom IP44 to IP54 Obelix, Wendélia, Rovélio, Avellane, Tubaluce, Chromius, Valérié, Delvino LED, grazing or directed light
Wet room and toilet IP44 minimum Obelix, Wendélia, Rovélio LED, light above the mirror
Outdoor and terrace IP65 Rosmilessa, Petralux, Modulea LED, accent lighting
Hallway and staircase IP20 to IP44 Allonga, Petralux, Rosmilessa LED, discreet guidance
Living room and bedroom IP20 to IP54 Rosmilessa, Petralux, Modulea LED, ambience and highlighting

The lighting catalogue groups the other families if your project spans several rooms.

Which original or boho chic wall strip light to change a wall?

The originality of a wall strip light comes from its format and the direction of its light: long tube, asymmetric bar, repeated module. This selection is contemporary, in aluminium or black and grey metal, with no wood or rattan finish. For a boho feel, better to pair warm light with textile materials around the fixture.

Original wall light: play with length and the direction of light

A metre of black tube on a raw wall changes a volume more than a printed pattern. Two identical strip lights at the same height make a clean composition; offset, they break the symmetry. The matte Tubaluce tube plays that card with its white diffuser and matte black body.

Wood wall strip light: what this selection offers

No model in this collection has a wood finish: the bodies are 71% aluminium and 29% metal, with 7% fabric. A warm feel is therefore built differently, with a warm white around 2700 to 3500 K and a wall in a natural material. The general lighting guide details the other options if wood is essential to your project.

How do you install and maintain a wall strip light?

Installation is on the wall, after switching off the power, respecting the IP rating of the room. Some models accept a dimmer, others do not. Maintenance is limited to dry dusting and a slightly damp cloth on the body, never on the LED diffuser while powered. The warranty runs for 3 years on the large majority of the selection, 2 years on the rest.

Wall strip light with switch or dimmer?

Few models in the collection are dimmer-compatible, so check the product page before buying if you want to adjust the intensity. Without a dimmer, the existing wall switch is enough: the strip light turns on like a classic light point. For a terrace, prefer a waterproof version for terrace paired with a control indoors.

Cleaning an LED wall light without damaging it

Switch off the power before any work. Run a soft, dry cloth over the body to remove dust, then a barely damp cloth if the wall is greasy. Do not use abrasive products or spray directly on the diffuser. An integrated LED cannot be replaced: if it weakens, the fixture has to be changed.

Powerful LED wall light: which wattage for which use?

Wattage depends on the surface to light: a few watts are enough for an ambience effect, around fifteen watts for a bathroom or hallway, and 20 to 30 W for a large wall or outdoors. Above all, choose light directed downwards to avoid glare. The collection runs from 3 W to 30 W depending on the model.

Kitchen LED wall strip light: which light above the worktop?

Above a worktop or a splashback, a linear strip light directed downwards lights the useful zone without reflecting on the surfaces. Check the IP rating suited to the humidity of the room and the length against your wall. Light that is too direct creates hard shadows: better a model close to the splashback. Browse LED strip lights for damp rooms for this.

Powerful wall lighting without glare

A badly aimed 30 W module glares more than it lights. What matters is the direction of the beam and the distance to the wall, as much as the stated wattage. For a large volume, combine two light points rather than one very powerful one. The Modulea outdoor linear module is one example: 30 W spread over 500 mm of diffuser.

What budget should you plan and how does delivery work?

This selection runs from entry level to a more elaborate model. Payment is secure, delivery is tracked and returns are possible, with Designix customer service to guide you. The grid shows the current price of each model.

2 or 3 year warranty: what the selection covers

The large majority of references are guaranteed for 3 years, the rest for 2 years. Keep the invoice: it serves as proof if there is a problem. Models with integrated LED are rarely repairable, so the warranty mainly covers a power supply or mounting fault. Conversely, an E27 version can be fixed by changing the bulb.

Secure payment, tracked delivery and returns

Secure payment, tracked delivery and possible returns: you keep some room if the length does not suit the wall. Take measurements before ordering, as size is the first reason for exchanges on this type of fixture. Designix customer service answers questions about compatibility with your installation.

Frequently asked questions about the wall strip light

Is an infrared wall strip light a light fixture?

No, an infrared wall strip light is a heating appliance, not a light fixture. An LED wall strip light or a wall light illuminates the wall and is chosen by its IP rating, its length and its wattage. The two products do not meet the same need and are not wired to the same circuit.

Can a wall strip light be installed in a kitchen?

Yes, a linear LED wall strip light can light a worktop or a splashback, provided you choose a model suited to humidity and directed downwards. Check the IP rating and the length against your wall. Light that is too direct can create reflections on the surfaces.

Which waterproof outdoor wall light should you choose?

For outdoors, aim for an IP65 rating, like the Rosmilessa, Petralux or Modulea models. These aluminium wall lights, in a graphite version, withstand rain and mount on a facade or a terrace. IP65 also protects against dust, which limits maintenance.

How do you install a wall light on a staircase?

On a staircase, the wall light mounts on the side wall, at a height that lights the steps without glare. Switch off the power before installation and respect the IP rating of the room. A slim line or a linear module guides the descent without cluttering the circulation.

Which powerful LED wall light to light a room?

A 20 to 30 W LED wall light lights a large wall or outdoors, while a 10 to 17 W model is enough in a bathroom or a hallway. Look at the length of the diffuser and the downward orientation to avoid glare. Wattage alone does not make good lighting.
