TRIO, or TRIO Leuchten, is a German manufacturer of decorative lighting, and this page gathers the range distributed by Designix: pendants, ceiling lights, spotlights, wall lights, table lamps, floor lamps and outdoor lights. Here you will find the key points for choosing according to the room, the light, the material and the protection rating.

What is Trio, and what does Trio make?

TRIO, or TRIO Leuchten, is a German manufacturer of decorative lighting, part of the same group as the Reality brand (RL). Its range covers pendants, ceiling lights, spotlights, wall lights, outdoor lights, table lamps and floor lamps, in a contemporary spirit and at an accessible price point.

Trio Leuchten and Reality: two brands of the same group

Trio Leuchten and Reality (RL) belong to the same German group and share a decorative lighting positioning, but each keeps its own collections and its own references. At Designix, it is the Trio range that is listed: you will find it in the lighting section of the shop, alongside the other lighting families.

Trio, triolet, triomino: why the name is confusing

The search for "trio" does not always refer to the brand. A triolet is a musical figure, a triomino is a game, and "trio game" refers to board games. On this page, trio refers only to TRIO Leuchten. If you are looking for a light and not a game, our lighting catalogue is the right starting point.

What types of Trio lights are in the range?

The Trio range is divided between pendants and ceiling lights for general lighting, adjustable spotlights, wall lights for walls and hallways, table lamps and floor lamps for accent lighting, and outdoor lights in IP44 for the terrace or the facade.

The Trio lighting families, their room and their protection rating
Type of light Room or use Common protection rating Socket or technology
Pendant Dining room, kitchen, hallway IP20 Integrated LED, E27
Ceiling light Living room, bedroom, corridor IP20 Integrated LED, E27, E14
Wall light Hallway, corridor, staircase, bedside IP20 LED, G9, E14, E27
Spotlight Kitchen, corridor, bathroom IP20 to IP44 GU10, LED
Table lamp and floor lamp Bedside, desk, living room, reading corner IP20 E14, E27, LED
Outdoor light Terrace, facade, garden IP44 Integrated LED

Pendants, ceiling lights and floor lamps

A pendant lights a table or a worktop from above: it structures the room and often replaces the central ceiling point. The ceiling light, more discreet, lights widely in a corridor or a bedroom. The floor lamp, on the other hand, stands on the floor and creates accent light near an armchair, without drilling the wall.

Spotlights, table lamps and outdoor lights

Adjustable spotlights are fixed to the ceiling or on a track and direct the light towards a precise surface. For a more decorative wall, the Cosima green wall light in metal plays the long line, while the Imaria H 12 cm wall light opts for a small round volume. All the lighting families can be found in the same selection.

Which light for which room at Trio?

Warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, dominates the Trio collection and suits the living room, the bedroom or the corridor. Neutral white, between 3500 and 4500 K, lights worktops and desks more sharply. On models with a socket, the bulb you install determines this temperature.

Warm white 2700 to 3500 K: living room, bedroom, corridor

This range now represents the largest share of Trio references. It gives a soft yellow light that is restful in the evening and brings out warm materials such as wood. It is the default choice for Brad in wood, 37 cm, whose integrated LED remains fixed in warm white.

Neutral white 3500 to 4500 K: kitchen, desk, worktop

Neutral white makes colours truer and contrasts sharper, useful above a cutting surface or a desk. It represents a smaller share of the collection. On models with integrated LED, the temperature is set at the factory; on models with a socket, you choose the bulb. The dimmer, for its part, is fitted to only a minority of models: check this point on the product page before installing a dimmer on the wall.

Integrated LED or G9, E14, E27, GU10 socket: what to choose?

Trio references with integrated LED show a warm white and cannot be replaced: the source is designed to last. Models with a G9, E14, E27 or GU10 socket accept a bulb of your choice, which allows you to adjust power and colour temperature, and to replace a worn bulb without changing the light.

Trio sockets and technologies: what you will be able to replace
Technology Bulb Typical use Light temperature
Integrated LED Not replaceable Ceiling lights, slim wall lights, outdoor Warm white 2700 to 3500 K
G9 socket G9 bulb Small wall lights, compact lights According to the bulb chosen
E14 socket E14 bulb Wall lights, accent lights According to the bulb chosen
E27 socket E27 bulb Ceiling lights, pendants, wall lights According to the bulb chosen
GU10 socket GU10 bulb Adjustable spotlights According to the bulb chosen

What an integrated LED changes

Nothing to plan, nothing to match: the light arrives complete and the light is already calibrated in warm white. In return, you will not be able to change the temperature or the power. This is the case for the Leano gold wall light and Mario black with LED reading light.

What a replaceable socket changes

The G9 socket is fitted to small volumes, the E14 to wall lights, the E27 to ceiling lights and pendants, the GU10 to adjustable spotlights. You keep control over the power and the shade of light, and a burnt-out bulb can be replaced without tools. Diallo matt black with E27 socket illustrates this choice.

Which materials and finishes to choose at Trio?

Metal makes up most of the Trio collection, with black, white, silver, anthracite, gold or green finishes, and a few pieces in wood. Black or anthracite metal is discreet on a light wall, gold warms up a neutral interior, wood brings a warm material to a hallway or a bedroom.

Metal, aluminium and wood: what it changes on the wall

Metal and aluminium are cleaned with a soft cloth and keep their shade, which suits heavily used passageways such as a staircase. Wood, present on Brad in wood, 37 cm, brings a visible grain and matches parquet floors and light furniture. Both are installed in the same way, with the power off.

Black, white, gold or green: matching the finish to the room

Black and anthracite blend into a dark wall and draw a sharp contrast on a white wall. Matt white fades away in a bedroom or a corridor. Gold, like that of Imaria gold, warms up a beige or grey interior. The green of Cosima green plays a more marked note without becoming a decorative object.

IP20 or IP44: which protection rating for your room?

The IP20 protection rating corresponds to dry rooms: living room, bedroom, corridor, office. IP44, present on part of the Trio collection, protects against water splashes and concerns the terrace, the facade or a bathroom. This rating should be checked before purchase, it cannot be guessed from the look of the light.

IP20: living room, bedroom, corridor, office

IP20 covers the vast majority of indoor lights: hung above a table, fixed to a corridor wall or placed on a bedside table, the light remains protected from humidity. This is the case for most of the wall lights in the collection, including the long 120.2 cm version.

IP44: terrace, facade, bathroom

Outside or near a water point, an IP44 rating is necessary: it protects against splashes and water spray. Near a bathtub or a washbasin, also keep the light away from directly exposed areas. For outdoor use, look at the product page rather than the shape of the product. Choosing a light for the home starts with this criterion.

Which formats and dimensions for a Trio light?

Trio formats range from small round wall lights 8 cm in diameter to long models of 120.2 cm or 53 cm. Short formats suit narrow passageways and bedside tables, long ones dress a large wall, a staircase or a hallway. Check width and depth before drilling.

Reading width, depth and height before drilling

Three measurements matter. The width determines the space on the wall, the depth tells you whether the light protrudes into the passageway, the height is used for positioning relative to the floor or the worktop. The Imaria come in Ø 8 cm by H 12 cm and in Ø 8 cm by H 120.2 cm, the Cosima in Ø 15 cm by L 53 cm, and the Imaria H 12 cm wall light remains the most compact format. Compare these measurements with see the complete lighting range before ordering.

Where to place a wall light: hallway, corridor, staircase, bedside

In a hallway, it welcomes and lights the face rather than the floor. In a corridor or on a staircase, it guides the steps without taking up floor space; then allow an installation height of around 1.80 m to 2 m to avoid glare. On either side of a bed, it replaces the bedside lamp and frees up the nightstand.

A concrete example: for a hallway of about 4 m², a compact round format is enough; for a 3 m wall, a long line is better. Discover the selection in the lighting section of the shop.

Why order a Trio light from Designix?

At Designix, payment is secure, delivery is tracked and returns are possible, with customer service to help you choose between two models. The product pages show the dimensions, material, socket and protection rating of each Trio reference, which makes it possible to compare before ordering.

Ordering with confidence

Each product page details the material, finish, dimensions, socket and protection rating, and the collection grid shows the current price. Payment is secure, delivery is tracked and returns remain possible if the format does not suit once installed.

Comparing two models before confirming

Two questions are often enough to decide: is the wall long enough for a line, and do you need a replaceable bulb? If the answer leans towards a small fixed volume, the Leano gold wall light does the job. If you want to keep the choice of bulb, look at the socket before adding to the cart. All our lights can be browsed by family to compare dimensions side by side.

Frequently asked questions about Trio lights

What is Trio?

TRIO, or TRIO Leuchten, is a German manufacturer of decorative lighting, part of the same group as the Reality brand (RL). At Designix, its range covers pendants, ceiling lights, spotlights, wall lights, table lamps, floor lamps and outdoor lights, in a contemporary spirit and at an accessible price point.

What is the difference between Trio and Reality?

Trio Leuchten and Reality (RL) are two brands of the same German group. They share a decorative lighting positioning, but each keeps its own collections and its own references. At Designix, it is the Trio range that is listed, with its pendants, ceiling lights, spotlights, wall lights, table lamps and outdoor lights.

Trio, triolet, trio game: is it the same as the Trio brand?

No. Searches for trio game, triolet or triomino refer to games, music or common words, with no link to lighting. On this page, trio refers only to TRIO Leuchten, the German manufacturer of decorative lighting distributed by Designix.

Can you change the bulb of a Trio light?

It all depends on the model. References with integrated LED cannot be dismantled: the source is designed for the lifetime of the fixture. Versions with a G9, E14, E27 or GU10 socket accept a bulb that you replace yourself, which leaves the choice of power and colour temperature.

Which protection rating to choose for a bathroom or a terrace?

In a bathroom or outside, aim for an IP44 rating, designed to withstand splashes. In a living room, bedroom, corridor or office, IP20 is enough, since the light remains protected from humidity. Check this rating before purchase: it determines where the light can be placed.

Which colour temperature for a living room?

For a living room, a corridor or a bedroom, a warm white between 2700 and 3500 K creates a soft light that is restful in the evening. Neutral white, between 3500 and 4500 K, lights more sharply and is better suited to a kitchen, a desk or a worktop.

Where to place a Trio wall light in the home?

In a hallway to welcome, along a corridor or a staircase to guide the steps, or on either side of a bed to replace a bedside lamp. Small round formats suit narrow passageways, longer lengths suit large walls.
