A silver table lamp is chosen first for the room that hosts it, then for the available height and the type of light you need. This selection brings together silver models for indoor use, in metal, crystal, glass, brass or plastic, with E27, E14, GU10 or integrated LED sockets.
Which silver table lamp should you choose for each room?
Measure the free surface first: a narrow bedside table takes a small format with a short arm, a console holds a tall, visible piece, a workspace calls for an adjustable arm. The actual height decides the rest, from 33 cm on a bedside table to 84 cm for a desk model.
Silver table lamps: what this selection covers
Metal leads the materials, followed by crystal, then plastic, glass and brass. Shapes range from round to tube, drop, oval and dome. Every piece is IP20, so designed for a dry room. To widen the comparison, browse the lighting catalogue.
How do you choose between small and large format?
A small format suits a bedside table: the Xelnora lamp is 38 cm tall and fits under a shelf. The medium format, like the Cecilia at 56 cm, lights a wider area from a chest of drawers. The large format plays its part as a visible piece: the Alara reaches 84 cm and unfolds over 70 cm of depth. Find these formats in the design lamps for the bedroom.
| Room or use | Format and measured dimensions | Available socket | What it brings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bedside table | Compact, height 33 to 56 cm | E27, E14, integrated LED | Light close to the bed, without glare |
| Desk or workshop | Adjustable or flexible arm, height up to 84 cm | Integrated LED, E14, GU10 | Beam directed onto the work surface |
| Living room console | Large format, up to 20 cm in diameter | E27, integrated LED | A visible piece that lights the mood |
| End of sofa or reading corner | Round or oval head, adjustable | GU10, integrated LED | Concentrated light where you read |
| Baroque decor, statement piece | Multi-arm crystal, 7 kg | Depending on the model | Diffuse light and reflections on the crystal |
Where should you place a silver table lamp at home?
Three spots cover most uses: the bedside table for reading, the desk or workshop worktop for working, the living room console for atmosphere. As the whole selection is IP20, the lamp stays in a dry room, away from a bathroom or a terrace.
On a bedside table, at what height should the lamp sit?
Place the shade at shoulder height once seated, around 40 to 50 cm above the mattress, so the light reaches the page without hitting your eyes. A flexible arm and an adjustable head settle this: that is the case with the Sølva at 33 cm, the Ondtorora at 50 cm and the Pryssa at 37 cm. See also the lamps with adjustable heads and the LED bedside lighting.
On a desk or workshop worktop
An adjustable arm keeps your hand from casting a shadow on the page. The Alara combines 84 cm of height with 70 cm of reach, the Arimilora reaches 68 cm, and the curved reflector of the Acies projects over 35 cm of depth. Compare with the design desk lamps and the metal lamps for working.
How do you wire several lamps to a single power supply?
Several table lamps can share the same supply: they are connected in derivation, meaning in parallel, so each receives the same voltage and a lamp that is off does not switch off the others. The connection is made with the power off, in a junction box, with a shared switch.
Wiring 3 lamps to 1 switch: how do you do it?
Switch off the breaker, identify the live, neutral and earth wires, then bring the three feeds into one junction box. The switch cuts the whole line and the three lamps light together. As soon as you go beyond replacing a single point, an electrician validates the work. The rest of the families are visible in all lighting families.
Wiring several lamps in parallel or in series?
For home lighting, derivation, meaning parallel, is the standard: each lamp keeps the same voltage and stays independent. Series wiring is not used here, because a single faulty lamp would cut the whole circuit and the light output would drop.
Which bulb should you use in a silver table lamp?
The selection splits between integrated LED, E27, E14 and GU10 sockets. The 40 W models in E27 or E14 take a screw bulb that you choose according to use, the GU10 ones take a spot bulb, and the integrated LED pieces in 6, 8 or 10 W are used as they are, with no bulb to change.
E27, E14 or GU10 socket: how do you tell them apart?
The E27 fits the Tubine and the Cecilia, a large screw socket, common and easy to replace. The E14, slimmer, suits retro pieces like the Cylivio and the Aqualia. The GU10, finally, concerns the Valmilina, on an adjustable head.
Integrated LED or screw bulb: what is the point?
Integrated LED comes ready to use and cannot be replaced: that is the case with the Ondtorora at 6 W, the Acies at 8 W and the Renario at 10 W. A screw bulb lets you choose the rendering and the brightness later. See the design LED lamps.
General guide, outside our models: a mood bulb sits around 2700 K, a welcoming light around 3000 K and a working white beyond 4000 K. These values depend on the bulb you choose, not on the lamp.
| Socket | Measured wattage | Type of source | What you need to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| E27 | 40 W | Screw bulb | Brightness adjustable with the bulb you choose |
| E14 | 40 W | Small screw socket | Slim formats, especially retro glass pieces |
| GU10 | Not stated | Spot bulb | Directed beam, often on an adjustable head |
| Integrated LED | 6 W, 8 W or 10 W | Fixed source | Ready to use, bulb not replaceable |
Which silver table lamp styles for which interior?
Style is chosen according to the furniture that hosts the lamp and the dominant material of the room. Sober lines in metal or plastic suit contemporary interiors, coloured glass suits retro moods, crystal suits baroque or bohemian decors.
Italian design table lamp: which signs come close?
Without naming a brand, some codes recur: polished metal, glass, cut crystal, tube, drop or dome shapes. A piece like the Ondnorissa, cut crystal with three arms, follows them through its assembly. Find this register in our crystal selection.
Baroque, retro, bohemian or contemporary: what are the differences?
Baroque combines crystal and gold for many reflections. Retro plays on blue and red glass globes, like the Cylivio. Contemporary and modern rely on plastic and metal arms, the Valvora for example. Bohemian prefers drop shapes. For a more restrained line, see the Nordic style.
How do you match silver with the rest of the decoration?
Silver works with the gold found in part of the selection, with the white of the shades, with the blue and red of some retro glass pieces, and with the black of furniture. It brightens a dark wall and creates a clear contrast on a white background.
Mixing silver and gold in the same room
Gold recurs often in the selection, on bases, rings or arms. The simple rule: let one of the two dominate and keep the other as a detail, otherwise the room becomes muddled. Browse the gold and black versions to balance it.
Matching the lamp to white, black or a coloured wall
On a white wall, silver brings a clean line; on a dark wall, it becomes a patch of light. White fabric shades and white finishes soften the metal. If you prefer a sharp contrast, look at the black alternatives for the living room.
The finest living room lamps: how do you stage them?
In a living room, the table lamp acts as extra lighting: it goes at the end of the sofa, on a console or near a window, alongside the ceiling light. Two sources at different heights avoid shadows on faces, and an adjustable head concentrates light on the book.
How do you arrange ceiling spots with extra lamps?
Recessed spots are spread in a line or staggered, away from the walls to avoid shadow areas. They give downward light but leave the face in shadow: a lamp placed on a console brings the close light that is missing. Compare the design living room models and the modern living room pieces.
Design ball table lamp: where should you place it?
A ball lamp is recognised by its round or dome shape, which diffuses over its whole surface. It sits on a small side table or the end of a sofa, never in front of the television screen. The Eolio and the Valvora show round heads, to compare with oval or drop shapes.
How do you install and care for a silver table lamp?
All the lamps in the selection are IP20: they go indoors, on a dry surface, away from a bathroom or a terrace. Care is limited to a soft cloth on metal, glass and crystal, without abrasive products.
Adjusting a lamp with an adjustable or flexible arm
Loosen the arm brake, aim the head at the surface to light, then tighten again. Check that the furniture supports the weight: the crystal piece weighs 7 kg, while a flexible arm stays light. The measured ranges go from 38 cm for the Xelnora to 84 cm for the Alara, with 68 cm for the Arimilora.
Cleaning metal, glass and crystal
Soft dry cloth for metal, slightly damp cloth for glass, careful handling for cut crystal. Brass dislikes acidic products, and a fabric shade is dusted dry. Find these materials in the lighting catalogue.
Secure payment, tracked delivery, possible returns and Designix customer service support you from choice to installation. A guide to keep at hand: note the height and the socket of the model, and you will know straight away whether the lamp suits the room.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a table lamp and a floor lamp?
A table lamp sits on a piece of furniture: bedside table, console, desk. A floor lamp rests on the ground and lights higher up. This selection only brings together table lamps, in IP20, to install on a dry surface, indoors.
How do you fit rings on a curtain?
The rings are threaded onto the rod before being fixed to the curtain heading, one ring per eyelet or per pleat depending on the finish. On the lighting side, a silver table lamp placed on a console near the window highlights the textile without lighting it from the front.
What is a design ball table lamp?
A ball lamp is recognised by its round or dome shape, which diffuses light over its whole surface. In the selection, these shapes sit alongside oval, drop and tube heads, in metal, glass or crystal, with a head that is sometimes adjustable depending on the model.
How do you arrange ceiling spots?
In a line or staggered depending on the room, away from the walls to avoid shadow areas. In a living room, they are completed by extra lighting: a silver table lamp on a console brings the close light that the ceiling lacks.
The finest living room lamps, which criteria should you look at?
First look at the height in relation to the furniture that hosts it, then the material: metal for clean lines, crystal or glass for a luminous effect. The socket also counts: screw bulb E27 or E14, GU10 spot, or integrated LED.
