First, measure the free surface of the furniture that will hold the lamp: a copper table lamp occupies a disc of Ø 13 to 52 cm depending on the model, and its gilded brass sends a warm light downwards. This selection includes E14, E27 and G9 sockets, all IP20, for a bedside table, a desk, a living room or a workshop corner.
What light does a copper table lamp give?
A copper table lamp or gilded brass table lamp sends a warm light, filtered by a pleated or conical shade that directs it downwards. All the models in the selection are IP20, so for indoor use, with E14, E27 and G9 sockets, and a dimmer on some of them.
Copper-coloured table lamp: gold or silver?
The perceived tone comes from the metal and what it reflects. Gilded brass, the majority in the selection, warms a pale wall and suits warm interiors; silver gives a more neutral, almost grey reflection, which holds better in a cool decor. The shade decides the rest: amber glass filters towards amber, a black conical shade narrows the beam downwards. Compare the two families in the gold and black version and in the Nordic style.
Dimmer and LED bulb: what changes the mood
The dimmer, fitted on a minority of models, lets you lower the intensity in the evening without changing the bulb, but it requires a dimmable bulb: a non-compatible LED buzzes or switches off in steps. Without a dimmer, it is the colour temperature that sets the mood. Allow around 2700 K for a warm end-of-day halo, 3000 K for a crisper white on a worktop. LED models with a crafted design often include the source, which simplifies the choice.
Which room should a copper table lamp go in?
Copper and brass table lamps are placed first in a workshop or a reading corner, where their shade diffuses a low light. They also find their place on a bedside table, a desk or a living room console, in formats from Ø 20 to 30 cm.
| Room or use | What is expected of the light | Format observed | Socket | Point to watch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Workshop or reading corner | Low and direct light | Ø 25 to 40 cm, height 43 to 60 cm | E14 | Pleated shade that diffuses without dazzling |
| Bedside table | Close light, soft intensity | Ø 20 to 30 cm, height 18 to 45 cm | E14 or G9 | Space available on the bedside table |
| Desk | Light directed onto the worktop | Height 51 cm, Ø 40 cm | E27 | Avoid reflection on the screen |
| Living room | Accent light near the sofa | Ø 40 to 52 cm, height 48 to 57 cm | E14 or E27 | Match the finish to the furniture |
| Dining room | Console or sideboard light | Compact format | E14 or E27 | Do not compete with the pendant |
Which model for the living room?
On a console or sideboard, look for a large diameter and a shade that hides the bulb from the sofa. Fiesta, Ø 40 cm and 54 cm tall, combines a black conical shade with a gold trim and a glass column: the light falls low, without dazzling. Marghita, Ø 52 cm, distributes three pleated shades and fills a larger room. For a more understated approach, browse table lamps for the living room and modern models for the living room.
On the bedside table and the desk
A narrow bedside table accepts Ø 19 to 25 cm: Lunnoreno and its rectangular shade, or Corallina and its pleated shade, cast a low, soft halo. On a desk, prefer an L-shaped arm lamp with a directional socket, like Metalia in bronze, which directs light onto the worktop. See also bedroom lighting, the desk selection and adjustable lamps.
E14, E27 or G9 socket: how to choose your bulb?
The socket determines the bulb to buy. The lamps in this selection are E14, E27 or G9, with a few models in GU10; E14 fits small formats, E27 fits wider lamps. Check the socket indicated on the product page before choosing an LED.
| Socket | Typical use | Wattage noted | To check |
|---|---|---|---|
| E14 | Small bedside and console lamps | 12 W | Bulb diameter under the shade |
| E27 | Wider desk or living room lamps | 15 W and 40 W | Height available in the shade |
| G9 | Compact globe lamps | 12 W | Pin bulb, not screw-in |
| GU10 | Directional spot models | Not specified on the page | Bulb dedicated to this socket |
E14 or E27 bulb: which to choose?
Both are screw-in, only the size changes. E14, thinner, fits under a small shade and suits bedside and console lamps; it is the most common socket in the selection. E27 accepts wider and brighter bulbs, useful on a desk or in a large shade. On a compact globe lamp, G9 requires a pin bulb: it does not screw in and is chosen according to the space left between the socket and the glass.
LED and dimmer: what the lamp supports
An LED uses little power and heats little, which suits a closed glass shade. On a lamp fitted with a dimmer, check the dimmable mention on the packaging: the dimmer models in the selection are a minority, and a non-compatible bulb makes dimming unstable. Without a dimmer, a fixed-intensity LED is enough. For a diffused effect, prefer a globe or filament bulb, which spreads the light instead of concentrating it.
Copper and black, rose copper or copper-coloured table lamp: which variants?
The perceived tone depends on the metal and the shade. This selection mainly combines gold and silver, with black and white versions, and glass, pleated or conical shades. A polished, light finish leans towards rose, a dark finish towards black.
Copper and black table lamp
The gold and black duo works because black absorbs light and brass reflects it by contrast. A black conical shade narrows the beam downwards, which suits a console or a worktop; a thin gold stem keeps the whole light. Find these combinations in the gold and black colours, black models for the living room and modern black versions.
How to tell if a brass table lamp is valuable?
Look at the weight and the hold of the metal: solid brass does not deform when carried, a well-applied gold finish stays even in the corners. Then check the quality of the assembly, the straightness of the shade and the neatness of the soldering on a multi-arm model. The material stated on our product pages (brass, metal, glass, steel, aluminium) and the two-year warranty covering most of the selection serve as objective benchmarks. Brass maintained with a soft cloth keeps its shine.
How to match a copper table lamp with your decor?
Gold goes with pale woods, white, beige and black; silver works with greys and cool blues. To avoid overloading, keep a single brass piece visible and let the shade echo the textile of the sofa or curtains.
Which colour to match with copper?
A white or beige wall lets the brass sing; a deep green or midnight blue wall makes it stand out without competing. For furniture, pale oak and cane match effortlessly, while very dark wood calls for a silver or bronze finish to stay readable. Limit yourself to two visible metals per room: beyond that, the eye no longer knows where to rest. For an entirely light ensemble, white design models lighten a small interior.
Copper and glass, copper and black: the combinations that work
Glass brings depth: amber glass on a gold frame, like Kalnorara with amber glass, filters the light and creates a softer halo than an opaque shade. Brass with a natural textile, linen or cotton, gives a bohemian effect that ages well; see linen shades. With black, keep a single strong contrast and leave the rest of the room in neutral tones.
How to wire several lamps to a single power supply?
Several table lamps are connected to the same supply by branching the power to each socket, with terminal blocks or junction boxes, respecting the cable cross-section and the total wattage. These operations are for an installer, as the luminaires in the selection are IP20, so indoor.
Series or parallel wiring: the difference
In series, switching off one lamp turns off all the others: this setup is not suitable for domestic lighting. In parallel, each lamp receives the same voltage from the common line and remains independent, which is the setup used in branching. Add up the bulb wattages before connecting, and keep all connections accessible for troubleshooting, never buried behind a partition.
Do you need one switch per lamp?
No, a single switch can control three light points connected to the same line. However, each lamp fitted with its own cord switch or a dimmer remains controllable separately, which is more practical at the bedside. If the three lamps must turn on together, check that the combined current stays within the limits of the circuit and the wiring accessories.
How to arrange ceiling spots and table lamps in the same room?
Ceiling spots provide general light, the table lamp adds local, low light. Spread the spots without aligning them above a worktop, then place the lamp near the area to be lit, at the bedside, on the desk or next to an armchair. Avoid placing a spot in the line of sight from the sofa: aim it at the wall to reflect the light. A strong ceiling intensity crushes the lamp; it is better to lower the general light in the evening and keep the lamp as the main source.
Italian design, bohemian or crystal table lamp: which style to choose?
The Italian style plays on simple shapes, globe, tube or dome, in brass and glass. The bohemian style prefers pleated shades, multiple arms and gold or silver tones; crystal brings brighter reflections. Choose according to the mood of the room.
Italian design table lamp: recognising a clean design
An Italian design is read in the line: a sphere on a thin stem, a glass dome, a vertical tube, with no added ornament. The Jorunn tube lamp gives a contemporary version of it, in metal, glass and brass. This vocabulary of shapes is found in the contemporary pieces of our entire lighting range, more understated than bohemian compositions.
Design globe table lamp: for which use?
A globe diffuses in all directions and suits a console, a shelf or an uncluttered bedside table: the Hanea ST globe lamp, in G9, combines metal, glass and brass and accepts a dimmer. On a low piece of furniture, it creates a light point without casting hard shadows. For a more ornamental effect, the Tosca gold flower plays the same role with a crafted silhouette. Crystal, more sparkling, can be discovered in crystal table lamps.
Frequently asked questions
How to wire three lamps to a single switch?
The three lamps are powered from the same supply and controlled by the same switch: each light point receives the live and neutral by branching. The combined wattage must stay within the limits of the circuit and all connections must remain accessible.
Which colour goes with copper?
Gilded brass goes with white, beige, black, pale woods and deep greens, and also pairs with midnight blue. Avoid multiplying metals in the same room: one gold and one black are often enough to hold the match.
Copper chandelier or copper table lamp: which to choose?
The chandelier lights the room from the ceiling and requires suitable fixing and height. The table lamp can be moved, lights a specific area and plugs into a socket. For accent lighting at the bedside or on the desk, it is more flexible.
Table lamp or floor lamp: what is the difference?
The floor lamp stands on the floor and lights a wide area, often behind a sofa or an armchair. The table lamp is placed on a piece of furniture, a console or a bedside table, and requires a free surface: this selection consists of table lamps.
What are the most beautiful living room lamps?
A well-chosen living room lamp matches the room: gilded brass for warm interiors, glass shade for filtered light, formats from Ø 20 to 40 cm depending on the console. The bohemian style with a pleated shade works well near a sofa.
