Start by measuring the diameter: from 29 cm for a hallway to 150 cm for a large living room, a silver chandelier is chosen based on the size of the room and the number of light points. Glass, crystal and steel dominate this selection, mostly with E27 sockets, with a two-year warranty on all models.
Which silver chandelier should you choose for a living room?
In a living room, a silver chandelier is chosen first for its diameter and number of light points. Glass and steel models from 58 to 68 cm, such as the Marbella or Camelot chandeliers, suit standard rooms. A large chandelier like the Satelite targets larger spaces, with up to fifteen light points.
Silver living room chandelier: where to start
Measure the ceiling height first. The living room and dining room are among the spaces best served by this collection. A 63 by 68 cm chandelier, such as the Marbella 5-light chandelier, fits a standard living room with its five E27 bulbs of 15W maximum. For a low ceiling or a narrow room, a shorter format is enough: our living room chandelier selection ranges from discreet models to centrepiece designs.
Modern living room chandelier: how the light renders
Glass and steel spread a broad, even light, with no hotspots or harsh shadows, which suits a living space where you read and talk. Crystal throws back sharper, more sparkling glints that draw bright points on the ceiling. The modern style accounts for 27% of the models measured here: it is the dominant direction if you are looking for a modern living room chandelier. A large format like the Satelite chandelier, up to 150 cm, lights an open living space without overwhelming it, especially paired with the other pieces in the modern living room selection.
Which silver chandelier for a dining room and how should it be hung?
Above a table, the chandelier must light the surface without hiding faces: centre it on the tabletop and choose a diameter smaller than the table. Glass and steel models from 51 to 68 cm, such as the Camelot or Marbella chandeliers, match standard tables.
Dining room chandelier: dimensions and centring
Align the fixture with the middle of the tabletop, on the room's axis. A diameter narrower than the table lets the eye travel from one guest to another. The Camelot 5-light chandelier uses E27, five points of 15W maximum. It is the format that covers most rectangular tables without crushing them, and you will find others in the selection designed for the dining room.
Kitchen chandelier: what changes
One hundred percent of the models in this collection are IP20, so they are reserved for dry indoor rooms: no direct water spray. Above a worktop or an island, a compact format limits bulk and does not get in the way. The Tomar chandelier, from 29 to 51 cm, meets this need with its single E27 socket and three points of 15W maximum.
Modern, designer or baroque silver chandelier: which style for which room?
Style shows in the frame and the material: steel and glass give a modern silver chandelier, crystal and brass a more classic or baroque look. The modern style dominates this selection, followed by baroque and contemporary; choose according to the room's furniture, not the other way round.
Modern silver chandelier
Straight lines, slim frame, clear glass: this vocabulary works in a living room as well as a hallway, where it does not block movement. Modern styles and contemporary silhouettes share this restraint, with silver, gold or white finishes depending on the room.
Designer chandelier
Round shapes, spheres, tubes or oval volumes: these designer pieces stand out as much switched on as off. The Chic Salon Elra chandelier, from 100 to 120 cm in metal, aluminium and linen, fitted with E27 for 42W, is intended for high ceilings. For a more ornate look, the baroque inspiration plays on generous proportions and applied details.
Large industrial chandelier: where does it belong
An exposed metal frame and glass, in an open living space, a workshop or a room with high volume: the large industrial chandelier (7% of the styles recorded) owns its lines without dressing them up. It needs height and a solid anchor point.
What size silver chandelier for which room?
Size is chosen according to the room and the ceiling height. In this collection, chandeliers range from 29 cm for the most compact to 150 cm for a large living room chandelier. A bedroom takes a 46 to 55 cm format, a living room or dining room a 58 to 87 cm model.
| Room | Format recorded in the collection | Light points and socket | Example model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living room or large volume | 87 to 150 cm | 15 points, E27, 15 x 15W max | Satelite chandelier |
| Living room and dining room | 63 to 68 cm | 5 points, E27, 5 x 15W max | Marbella 5-light chandelier |
| Dining room and hallway | 51 to 58 cm | 5 points, E27, 5 x 15W max | Camelot 5-light chandelier |
| Bedroom | 46 to 55 cm | 3 points, E27, 3 x 15W max | Camelot 3-light chandelier |
| Hallway or corridor | 29 to 51 cm | 3 points, E27, 3 x 15W max | Tomar chandelier |
| Small space or low ceiling | 40 to 60 cm | G9, 40W | Pissenlit chandelier |
Silver bedroom chandelier
A bedroom accounts for 53% of the uses recorded: it is a room where the chandelier serves both for reading and for getting up. The Camelot 3-light chandelier, 58 cm by 46 in glass and steel, three E27 points of 15W maximum, goes at the centre of the ceiling. The Bolzano 3-light chandelier combines steel with fabric, which softens the light. See the bedroom lighting and the modern bedroom chandeliers.
Large living room chandelier
From 87 to 150 cm, these formats are for tall rooms, double-height hallways and open living spaces. The Satelite chandelier in glass and steel, fifteen E27 points of 15W maximum, spreads the light instead of concentrating it. A model from 100 to 120 cm, such as the Luxe Vilo chandelier, also suits a large study.
E27, E14, G9 or GU10 socket: how do you choose the bulb for a silver chandelier?
Every chandelier in the collection states its socket: E27 for most models, E14 on Preston-type chandeliers, G9 on the Pissenlit and GU10 on the Vilo. Maximum wattage is given per light point, from 7W to 15W depending on the model; respect it to avoid overheating the socket.
| Socket | Max wattage per point | Models concerned | Recommended room |
|---|---|---|---|
| E27 | 15W (3, 5 or 15 points depending on the model) | Tomar, Satelite, Marbella, Camelot, Bolzano | Living room, dining room, bedroom, hallway |
| E14 | 7W (5, 8 or 12 points) | Preston 5, 8 and 12 lights | Living room, dining room, bedroom, hallway |
| G9 | 40W | Pissenlit | Living room, bedroom, dining room |
| GU10 | Not stated on the product page | Vilo | Living room, study, dining room |
How to identify the socket on the product page
The socket is the fitting that receives the bulb: E27 is the large screw socket, E14 the small one, G9 a two-pin connector, GU10 a bayonet base. The Preston 5-light chandelier runs on E14, five points of 7W maximum. The Pissenlit chandelier uses G9, 40W.
Maximum wattage per light point
A bulb that is too powerful heats the socket and strains the frame. Multiply the number of points by the permitted wattage to find the consumption of the whole chandelier: ten points at 15W maximum run with 15W bulbs give 150W, but an LED bulb with the same socket lights just as well while using far less. LED models are in the minority in the collection, so most of it comes down to the choice of bulb.
Warm white or cool white: which light for a silver chandelier?
A silver chandelier pairs well with warm white light, between 2700 and 3500 K, which warms the metal and the crystal. Cool white, from 4500 to 6500 K, suits workspaces. In the collection, only some of the models are LED; the others accept bulbs chosen according to the socket.
Colour temperatures: 2700-3500K or 4500-6500K
Below 3500 K, the light leans amber: it is the look of a dinner in the living room or a bedroom. Above 4500 K, it leans cool blue and gives a more neutral light, useful for reading, working or lighting a hallway. These two ranges are the only ones recorded in this collection. For a crisp effect on crystal, crystal chandeliers benefit from warm white light, while glass-dressed models handle a more neutral light better.
Dimmer: on which models
Dimming is only provided on a minority of models: check the product page before buying. When it is stated, it is controlled with a compatible dimmer. Otherwise, a dimmable bulb suited to the socket does the job, but it will not necessarily dim with all older dimmers.
How do you install and maintain a silver chandelier?
All the models in the collection are IP20: they are intended for dry indoor rooms. Installation requires switching off at the breaker and a fixing suited to the weight of the fixture, including for a large chandelier. Every chandelier in the collection comes with a two-year warranty.
Hanging a large chandelier from the ceiling
The fixing must bear on the ceiling's load-bearing support, not on simple plasterboard. On a format of 87 cm and above, get a second person to help hold the fixture during connection. Switch off at the breaker before any work, check that the sockets are tight, then test before refitting everything.
Cleaning glass and crystal
A soft, dry cloth is enough on glass as well as crystal: abrasive products scratch surfaces and dull frames. Dust the pendants one by one on a crystal chandelier, without dismantling the structure. Change bulbs with the chandelier switched off and cooled.
Frequently asked questions about the silver chandelier
Which chandelier for a living room?
Start with the diameter and the number of light points. In this collection, formats from 58 to 87 cm suit standard living rooms, in glass and steel, with three or five E27 bulbs. A large 150 cm chandelier is for the tallest spaces.
Which modern chandelier for a living room?
A modern living room chandelier plays on simple lines and materials such as steel, glass or metal. The collection offers silver models with three or five lights in E27, and more graphic pieces from 100 to 120 cm for large rooms.
Which chandelier should you choose for a dining room?
In a dining room, the chandelier is centred on the table and stays narrower than the tabletop. Models from 51 to 68 cm in glass and steel, with three or five E27 bulbs, match standard tables. Beyond that, an 87 cm model spreads the light better.
What is a designer chandelier?
A designer chandelier is recognisable by its crafted silhouette: round shapes, spheres, tubes or oval volumes, with combined materials such as steel, glass, brass or fabric. These shapes sit alongside more classic models here, in silver, gold or white finishes.
Which large chandelier for a living room?
A large living room chandelier is chosen when the room is tall and wide. The collection contains models from 87 to 150 cm, with up to fifteen light points in E27, as well as pieces from 100 to 120 cm in metal and linen. The fixing must be suited to the weight.
Can a chandelier be installed in a kitchen?
Yes, provided you stay in a dry area: all the models are IP20, so they are protected against contact but not against water. Above a worktop or an island, a compact format like the Tomar chandelier, from 29 to 51 cm, limits bulk.
What is a diamond chandelier?
The term refers to a crystal or glass chandelier whose cut elements throw back light like stones. Here, crystal models mounted on metal produce this effect, with G9, E14 or GU10 sockets depending on the model, and the matching bulb to be planned for.
Can a silver chandelier work with a dimmer?
Dimming is only provided on a minority of models: check the product page before buying. When it is stated, it is controlled with a compatible dimmer. Otherwise, a dimmable bulb suited to the socket does the job.
How do you decide between two silver models?
Three criteria are enough: the width available above the furniture or the table, the ceiling height, and the socket you are willing to maintain. At the same size, glass spreads more widely, crystal throws back glints, steel slims the silhouette and fabric softens the effect.
Silver finishes cover the vast majority of models, but gold, white, black and blue also exist: compare the gold versions and the white chandeliers if your room is warm or bright. A bedroom is often satisfied with a three-point model, an open living space calls for the Bolzano 3-light chandelier for its fabric, or a large format if the height allows. To compare materials, browse the brass finishes and all the chandeliers in the house.
If budget guides the decision, note that the entry-level models share the same sockets and the same two-year warranty as the rest of the selection: the difference comes down to size and material. Each model's price of the day is shown in the grid, with no commitment on our part to a fixed value.
Ordering, receiving, installing
The models in this collection are IP20 and use E27 or E14 depending on the reference. If any doubt remains about the diameter or the number of points, it is better to check before drilling the ceiling.
One last check before confirming: the width of the fixture against that of your table, the maximum wattage per socket, and the colour temperature of the bulb you will fit. With these three points settled, a silver chandelier lights the room for years, with E27 as well as E14, G9 or GU10 sockets.
