Plan for one pendant per area to light: a large disc or several arms above a table, a compact format above a worktop, a slim tube in a hallway or entryway. This collection brings together pendants in marble, metal and glass, with adjustable cable for most, all rated IP20.
Which marble ceiling light should you choose for each room?
A marble ceiling light is chosen first by room: above a dining table or in a living room, a disc or multi-arm model fills the volume; in a kitchen, a more compact format works; in a bedroom or hallway, a slim tube stands out without cluttering.
| Model | Main material | Socket | Colour | Recommended room | Listed dimensions |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vespertia | Marble, metal and steel | E27 | Multicolour | Living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen, entryway | see product page |
| Vellina | Marble, metal and steel | E27 | Multicolour | Living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen | 20 cm |
| Livmilica | Metal and white marble disc | Integrated LED | Gold | Living room, dining room, kitchen | Ø 70 mm, H 400 mm |
| Conaria | Metal and marble disc | Integrated LED | Black | Living room, dining room, kitchen | Ø 70 mm, H 400 mm |
| Marsamissa | Metal and marble, gold socket | Integrated LED | Black | Living room, dining room, kitchen | Ø 6 cm, H max 342.5 cm |
| Orbita | Metal and glass | E27 | Gold | Living room, dining room, kitchen | Ø 67 cm |
Which marble ceiling light for a dining room?
Above a table, a wide fixture dresses the room. Orbita's 67 cm diameter and its eight opal globes, or Vespertia's marble discs, take up the space a small lampshade leaves empty. Plan for one pendant centred over the tabletop, and a dining room pendant whose bottom stays at eye level.
Which pendant for a living room or entryway?
In a living room, a pendant can stay high and decorative, above a coffee table or a piece of furniture. Laitonia's amber globe and multi-arm compositions also suit a hallway or an entryway. To compare silhouettes, browse all pendants.
Which marble ceiling light for a kitchen?
In a kitchen, the pendant goes above the island or worktop, at eye level. Marble and metal models with one or three discs, such as Vespertia or Marsamissa, light the prep area without filling the whole volume of the room.
Italian design kitchen pendant: what sets it apart
The Italian spirit shows in the assemblies rather than the decoration: marble, glass and gold or black metal, with no added ornament. Livmilica sets a white marble disc on a 400 mm gold tube, while the designer pendant light plays with multi-disc compositions. For the island, see lighting a kitchen island.
Original kitchen pendant: one light point or several?
A single point is enough above a narrow worktop, especially with an integrated LED module such as Conaria, conical silhouette and marble disc. Three discs cover a long island better, where the light must come down close to the surface. Modern pendants offer both options.
How do you choose an XXL pendant for a high ceiling?
On a high ceiling, first choose a long cable: some models in the collection go down to 232, 316 or 342.5 cm, which brings the fixture closer to the table. Then a large volume, such as a 67 cm diameter, keeps the pendant from looking lost in the room.
What height for a pendant above a table?
Above a table, the bottom of the fixture usually sits between 75 and 85 cm from the tabletop, so at eye level, out of the diners' field of view. On a high ceiling, this constraint calls for a long cable rather than a bigger fixture. The large format is reserved for very open volumes.
How do you adjust an adjustable pendant cable?
The cable is adjusted before final fixing: lower the fixture, mark the length, lock the cable clamp, then tighten. Marsamissa goes down to 342.5 cm and Sylmara to 232 cm. A model such as Marsamissa, black tube and gold socket leaves room to spare.
How do you get an original pendant light?
Look for a shape rather than a simple lampshade: slim tube, stacked marble discs, opal globes, stone disc on a gold stem. Several models break away from classic silhouettes, in black or multicolour, which is enough to make a living room, hallway or entryway stand out.
Tree pendant light: which shapes come close?
A tree pendant brings together several diverging arms on a single stem. Vesperine comes close with four arms and black glass domes, 76 cm wide. These compositions fill the void above a table without multiplying ceiling fixing points. Pendant lights with several sources play the same card.
Discs, tubes or globes: which silhouette should you choose?
The marble disc sits flat or in a ring, the slim tube hangs straight down, the globe spreads a wrapping light. Vellina and Vespertia stack two or four discs; Livmilica, gold tube and white marble disc stays understated. For a graphic room, look at the design models.
Designer bedroom pendant: which model and which light?
In a bedroom, a discreet pendant and warm light work better: a slim tube, a small marble disc or an opal globe, adjusted to reading height. One source is enough, the goal being not to dazzle from the bed.
Adult bedroom pendant: glass or marble?
Opal glass spreads light widely, black marble stays discreet once switched off. Lormilisto, 140 mm in diameter, and Marciano, in taupe or black fabric and plastic, suit small volumes. A bedroom pendant or an adult bedroom pendant is chosen on this size criterion before colour.
Warm white or cool white: which light temperature?
Aim for warm white, around 2700 to 3500 K: the light leans towards amber and is less tiring in the evening. Cool white, around 4500 to 6500 K, is reserved for work rooms. With an E27 socket, it is the chosen bulb that sets the temperature, not the fixture.
E27, E14 or integrated LED: which light for your needs?
E27 socket models take a bulb you choose, including its colour temperature; E14 sockets fit the small sockets of multi-shape designs; integrated LED modules need no bulb. A few models accept a dimmer, indicated on their product page.
| Light source | Socket | Models concerned | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screw bulb | E27 | Laitonia, Vespertia, Orbita, Cablo, Rufina, Vellina | You choose the bulb and its colour temperature |
| Small screw bulb | E14 | Vesperine, Guttora, Lormilisto | Slimmer sockets, suited to multi-shape designs |
| Integrated LED module | LED | Livmilica, Conaria, Marsamissa, Lorevane | No bulb to change, lower listed wattages |
Can you install a dimmer on a pendant?
Yes, on models whose product page mentions it, such as Aurex in linear bronze glass. The dimmer must remain compatible with the bulb installed: a non-dimmable LED bulb buzzes even on a compatible control. Check both before fitting the switch, then test at low intensity.
Screw bulb or integrated LED: what difference in use?
A screw bulb can be replaced and chosen to suit the use; an integrated LED module cannot be replaced and shows a lower listed wattage. On LED pendants, the light is set at manufacture. Metal pendants often come in both versions.
How do you install and maintain a marble ceiling light?
All pendants in this collection are rated IP20: they are installed in a dry room, living room, dining room, kitchen or entryway, but not in a bathroom or outdoors. The cable is adjusted before tightening the fixing, then stone and glass are dusted with a soft cloth.
Bathroom pendant: what does IP20 mean?
IP20 indicates a fixture protected against solid objects, not against water. A bathroom, a damp room or a covered outdoor area require a suitable protection rating, which this collection does not offer. Entryway, hallway, kitchen and bedroom remain valid uses for these pendants.
How do you clean a marble or glass pendant?
Marble and glass are dusted with a soft cloth, without abrasive or harsh products. Gold or black metal needs only a dry cloth, and standing water marks brass. Switch off the power before any handling. For the care of other families, see our lighting universe.
Modern marble pendant: how do you match it to the rest of the room?
Match the fixture's finish to the metals already present: black for a understated interior, gold or bronze to warm a bright room, opal glass to spread light without dazzling. Marble pairs with light woods as well as dark worktops.
Black, gold or bronze: which finish should you choose?
A true black stays neutral and ages well in an understated interior: this is the case with black pendants with a marble disc. Gold finishes warm a white or grey wall. Aurex's bronze and beige suit vintage interiors, with three 30 cm shades.
Marble, metal and glass: how do you mix materials?
Marble sits near a stone worktop or a light wood table. Opal glass softens a very reflective room, while ribbed glass, as on Guttora, adds relief without dazzling. Glass pendants limit materials to two or three in the same room.
Choosing your marble pendant: materials, budget and warranty
The choice comes down to four points: the fixture's material, its shape, its socket and its colour. The collection covers affordable models as well as more elaborate pieces with several marble discs, with a 2 to 5 year warranty depending on the model, secure payment, tracked delivery and returns.
Which criteria should you check before ordering?
First look at the space available: a compact format is enough in a kitchen, a wide disc is needed above a large table. Then come the socket, the colour and the cable length. Affordable models and multi-disc pieces are compared on these four points.
What warranty and services does Designix offer?
The warranty runs from 2 to 5 years depending on the model. Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service accompany every order. To broaden the comparison, browse the full lighting catalogue: you will find the same references for socket, diameter and cable height.
Frequently asked questions about the marble ceiling light
Which marble ceiling light for a kitchen?
A kitchen is lit with a compact pendant placed above the worktop or island. Models with one or three marble discs on a metal stem light the work area without blocking the view, in black or gold, with a cable adjusted to bring the source closer to the surface.
Can you install a pendant light in a bathroom?
The pendants in this collection are rated IP20, a rating intended for dry rooms. They are not suitable for a bathroom or a damp room, where a fixture with a suitable protection rating is needed. Entryway, hallway and kitchen remain possible uses.
How do you choose an XXL pendant for a high ceiling?
First choose a long cable: some models go down to 232, 316 or 342.5 cm, which brings the fixture closer to the table. Then a large volume, such as a 67 cm diameter, keeps the pendant from looking small in the room.
How do you get an original pendant light?
Look for a shape rather than a simple lampshade: slim tube, stacked marble discs, opal globes, stone disc on a gold stem. Several models break away from classic silhouettes, in black or multicolour, which is enough to make a living room, entryway or hallway stand out.
Which designer pendant for a bedroom?
In a bedroom, a discreet pendant and warm light work better: a slim tube, a small marble disc or an opal globe, adjusted to reading height. One source is enough, the goal being not to dazzle from the bed.
Modern or Italian design pendant: which should you choose?
The modern pendant favours simple lines, black or gold, that blend into a contemporary interior. The Italian spirit favours assemblies of materials, marble, glass and metal, and more sculptural silhouettes. The two meet in models with stacked discs on a slim stem.
How can I change the colour of the marble?
You cannot change the colour of a marble piece: it is that of the stone selected at manufacture. The choice is therefore made at purchase, by comparing black, white, gold or multicolour finishes. To vary the mood, work instead on the bulb's colour temperature.
How do you polish a marble floor?
Polishing a marble floor is a job of sanding and buffing carried out by a professional, with specific products. On a pendant, the marble piece is thin: it needs only dusting with a soft cloth, without abrasive or harsh products.
