A living room wall lamp lights the wall rather than the floor: placed on either side of the sofa or above a low sideboard, it gives accent or reading light without cluttering the room. The collection brings together models in metal, glass, fabric or bamboo, mostly in warm white, with an E27 socket or integrated LED.

A living room wall lamp, what kind of light is it?

The light of a living room wall lamp stays low and lateral: it draws a halo on the wall, lights without dazzling and frees up the floor. The collection covers warm white from 2700 to 3500 K on most models, with E27, G9, G4 and GU10 sockets or an integrated LED.

LED living room wall lamp: what changes day to day

On an LED living room wall lamp, the source is built into the fixture: no bulb to change, even light across the whole surface of the diffuser and a slimmer shape. These models make up the largest part of the selection, in warm white as well as cool white, and some accept a dimmer. A large part of our entire lighting range works on this principle.

Powerful living room wall lamp: for what use?

A powerful wall lamp targets three cases: lighting a large wall, holding a reading corner without a floor lamp, or replacing a missing ceiling light. Look then for a long, adjustable arm that throws light upwards or downwards. Two well-placed light points cover a large wall better than a single very strong source.

How to choose your living room wall lamp?

You first choose according to the space on the wall and the use: a small discreet spotlight for a narrow wall, a wider shade for real ambient light. Shape, material, direction of the diffuser and the presence of a dimmer matter even before the choice of bulb.

Adjustable arm or fixed wall lamp: what effect on the wall?

A fixed wall lamp, like the Kena glass ball wall lamp, throws its light in all directions and dresses the wall even when switched off. An adjustable arm directs it where you want, onto a book or a picture. The ball models with enveloping light set the mood, long arms serve function.

What size of wall lamp for a living room wall?

Sizes range from mini spotlight to large shade: the Nyxa measures 5.2 cm in diameter, the Harmonie Nordique 13 cm, the Prestige Chic cork arm 90 cm with a 30 cm shade, the Xina 400 x 200 mm. Measure the free wall and the depth of the arm before ordering, especially in a passageway.

Model Style Material Socket What it brings
Kena, glass ball Contemporary, industrial Glass and metal E27 Enveloping diffusion, diameters 10 to 18 cm, dimmer
Fara, black dimmable Modern Metal G9 Compact 13.5 cm format, ideal for a narrow wall
Prestige Chic, white linen Contemporary, nordic Fabric and metal E27 Long 90 cm arm, reading without taking up floor space
Prestige Chic, cork Nordic, modern Wood and metal E27 30 cm shade, adjustable above a sofa
Yara, black bamboo Modern, jungle Bamboo and metal E27 Shade of around 20 cm, warm material
Paro, USB port Modern Aluminium and acrylic G9 Integrated USB port, vertical or horizontal mounting

Where to place a wall lamp in the living room?

Place the wall lamp on either side of the sofa for reading, or high up for indirect light above a low sideboard. Two symmetrical wall lamps balance a large wall. The height depends on the backrest and the depth of the arm, to be checked on the product page of the chosen model.

At what height should a living room wall lamp be installed?

For reading, generally allow between 1.20 m and 1.50 m from the floor, to the side of the armchair, with the shade at shoulder height when seated. For indirect light above a sideboard or a wall shelf, go up to around 1.80 m instead. The goal stays simple: the light lights the page, never the eyes.

Which model for which wall: long arm, ball or tube?

A long arm suits a bare wall behind the sofa, a ball suits a wall already full of frames, a tube suits a tall wall lacking verticality. Modern living room wall lamps rely on contrast, and a small adjustable spotlight is enough in hallway lighting or the entrance to the living room.

Which socket and which light temperature for a living room?

The E27 socket dominates, followed by models with integrated LED, then small G9, G4 and GU10 adjustable sockets. For a living room, aim for a warm white of 2700 to 3500 K in the evening, a neutral white if the room also serves as an office. A dimmer makes the light adjustable.

Halogen or LED for a living room wall lamp?

Models with integrated LED avoid changing bulbs and give even light, in warm white as well as cool white. An E27 socket lets you choose the bulb, including a dimmable bulb. GU10 directs the beam, as on the Nyxa and its 5.2 cm spotlight.

IP20 or IP44: which protection to choose?

IP20 covers almost the entire selection and is enough in a dry living room. IP44 concerns damp areas or sheltered outdoors: the Urbano Brillante is rated IP44, in aluminium and iron, with lengths from 60 to 120 cm. For a bathroom wall lamp, check this point before anything else.

Criterion Values present What it changes for you
Socket Mostly E27, integrated LED, G9, G4, GU10 E27: you choose the bulb; LED: nothing to change; GU10: adjustable beam
Temperature Warm white 2700 to 3500 K, neutral white, cool white Warm for the evening, neutral if the living room doubles as an office
Protection IP20 indoors in dry areas, IP44 on outdoor models IP20 for the living room, IP44 in damp areas
Dimmer On part of the selection Lower the light in the evening without changing the bulb
Material Metal and aluminium, glass, iron, fabric, wood and bamboo Metal structures, glass diffuses, fabric and wood soften
Warranty Two years on almost everything, five years on a few pieces A point to check on the product page of the chosen model

Modern, designer or trend living room wall lamp: what differences?

Modern relies on simple lines and discreet formats, designer on a material or an assumed contrast, trend on soft shapes like round, oval or ball. As for colour, black structures a light wall, white and gold lighten it.

Trendy living room wall lamp: which shapes and colours?

Round, oval and tube shapes dominate the selection, with the ball in fourth place. Black remains the most common colour, ahead of white, gold and beige. Black finishes for a light wall contrast sharply, while gold and silver warm or cool the effect depending on the wall.

Wireless living room wall lamp: is it possible?

The selection connects to the mains, with or without a dimmer depending on the model. If there is no supply point on the intended wall, check the product page before ordering or have a power supply installed by an electrician. The more designer versions for a living room are installed like the others.

How to match the wall lamp with the living room decor?

Simply echo a colour already present in the living room: black of the sofa, gold of the handles, wood of the sideboard. Glass diffuses without hiding, metal structures, fabric softens. On a light wall, a black wall lamp creates contrast, a white one disappears.

Which paint colour for a bright living room?

Light tones (white, beige, pearl grey) reflect light and brighten the room. A black wall lamp then creates a marked contrast, a white or gold one blends in. White wall lamps and gold wall lamps with a warm effect give two opposite moods on the same wall.

Country chic and jungle spirit wall lamp: which materials to choose?

For a metal wall lamp or a country chic wall lamp, wood, bamboo, rope and cork set the mood straight away. The Yara model combines bamboo and black metal, the Harmonie Nordique mixes wood, fabric and aluminium. These are the pieces that turn an original living room light into a decor object.

Wall lamp or chandelier for the living room?

The chandelier or pendant light lights widely and creates a focal point on the ceiling; the wall lamp brings accent, reading and ambient light, and replaces a missing ceiling light. In a large living room, the two often combine better than a single source, without overloading the room.

Modern living room chandelier and wall lamps: how to combine them?

Keep the chandelier for general light and leave the mood to the walls. Two symmetrical wall lamps on either side of the sofa, an adjustable model above the low sideboard, and you dim the chandelier in the evening without leaving the room in the dark. The choice of living room wall lamps covers this accent role.

Floor lamp or ball floor lamp: when to add a wall lamp?

The wall lamp frees up the floor: useful in a through living room or a narrow room. Indoor wall lamps are fixed where a ball floor lamp would not fit, above a sideboard or in a corner. A floor lamp, on the other hand, moves with the armchair when you rearrange.

Installation, warranty and reassurance before ordering

Almost all models are guaranteed for two years, a few pieces for five years, and part of the selection accepts a dimmer. Secure payment, tracked delivery, possible returns and Designix customer service: you check the technical sheet, then order with peace of mind for your living room.

How to prepare the installation of your wall lamp?

Switch off the power at the circuit breaker, locate the electrical supply and mark the position in pencil according to the depth of the arm. Fix the bracket with the plug suited to the wall (plasterboard or masonry), connect, then screw on the diffuser. Installing a wall lamp needs no special tool beyond a level and a drill.

Can a cheap wall lamp light well?

The difference lies in the material and the format, not the use: a compact aluminium model lights just as well as a more elaborate piece. Affordable models cover accent and reading light, and a desk wall lamp plays the same role above a worktop. Check socket, size and IP rating.

Frequently asked questions about the living room wall lamp

Which wall lamp should you choose for a living room?

Start from the use: a small discreet spotlight for a narrow wall, a wide shade for ambient light, an adjustable arm for reading. Then check the socket (E27, G9 or GU10), the colour temperature and the presence of a dimmer, then the material and colour.

Living room chandelier or wall lamp: which solution to light a living room?

The chandelier or pendant light lights widely and creates a focal point high up. The wall lamp brings accent, reading and ambient light, and replaces a missing ceiling light. In a large living room, combining the two gives softer light than a single source.

Which paint colour for a bright living room?

Light tones like white, beige or pearl grey reflect light and brighten the room. A black wall lamp then creates a marked contrast, while a white or gold wall lamp blends into the wall. The choice is made with the light on, not only in daylight.

Halogen or LED wall lamp for a living room?

Models with integrated LED avoid changing bulbs and give even light, in warm white as well as cool white. Models with an E27 socket let you choose the bulb, including a dimmable bulb. The GU10 socket remains the most practical for directing the beam.

Is a wireless living room wall lamp possible?

The collection brings together wall lamps to connect to the mains, with or without a dimmer depending on the model. If no electrical supply is available on the intended wall, check the product page on a case-by-case basis before ordering, or have a power supply installed by an electrician.
