Start by counting the room and the gesture: a pendant above a table, a wall light in a hallway, a floor lamp in a corner of the living room. The DFTP collection, signed Design For The People, a Danish brand of the Nordlux group, brings together lights in metal or glass, black, beige or white, designed for the living room and bedroom above all.
Who is DFTP, the Danish lighting brand?
DFTP stands for Design For The People, a Danish lighting brand of the Nordlux group. Its range, designed with Danish designers, relies on quality materials and a classic aesthetic, made to last beyond trends. At Designix, it brings together pendants, wall lights and floor lamps.
What does DFTP mean?
DFTP is the abbreviation of Design For The People. The name announces the approach: lights designed for everyday use, with simple shapes and standard sockets, rather than exceptional pieces that are hard to equip. This is useful when choosing a bulb, since most models take a screw bulb.
Design For The People and the Nordlux group
The link to the Nordlux group, a Danish lighting player, explains a production that stays with common lighting materials: metal, plastic, glass, aluminium, plus wood, fabric and leather on some references. The Danish style is recognisable by a sober silhouette that does not depend on a seasonal trend. You can browse the entire lighting collection to compare formats side by side.
How to choose your DFTP light?
The choice depends first on the type of light: a pendant above a table, a wall light for circulation areas, a floor lamp for a corner of the living room. Then come the socket (E27, E14, GU10 or G9), the maximum wattage per bulb and the dimensions, to be checked to the centimetre before fixing.
Pendant, wall light or floor lamp: which type to choose?
The Latif round glass pendant fills the volume above a table: 40 cm in diameter, 26.4 cm in height, E14 socket. A wall light frees the floor, like the Angle wall light with textile cable, which measures only 10 cm in diameter. The floor lamp remains the solution for a reading corner, movable as you wish.
Socket, wattage and dimensions: the criteria that change everything
The socket dictates the bulb, the maximum wattage dictates the holder, the dimensions dictate the installation. An E27 takes larger bulbs than an E14, a GU10 sends light in a precise axis. In the selection, maximum wattages range from 5 W on Makoto to 60 W on Stay and Stay Noire, never exceeding the value on the product sheet.
| Socket | Models | Max wattage per bulb | What it changes |
|---|---|---|---|
| G9 | Furiko, Makoto | 5 to 6 W | small discreet socket, for a slim wall light |
| GU10 | Angle, MIB 6, Nexus 2, Pure Bois, Strap 15 | 6 to 25 W depending on the model | directional source, light directed downwards or upwards |
| E14 | Darci, Darci Short, Shapes, Latif, Lunnelora | 25 W | slim socket, compact globe or flame bulbs |
| E27 | Spargo Noire, Stay, Stay Noire, Takai | 25 to 60 W | large socket, bulkier bulbs and more diffuse light |
To validate a model, compare its real footprint in the complete lighting catalogue: height, diameter and depth are given to the centimetre.
What light does a DFTP light give?
DFTP models light in warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K on LED references, a soft light suited to living rooms. Other models are paired with the bulb of the corresponding socket, within the wattage limit indicated on the product sheet.
Warm white: what atmosphere in the room?
Around 2700 K, the light leans towards amber and relaxes a bedroom or a sofa corner. Around 3000 to 3500 K, it stays warm but sharper, which suits an entrance or a worktop better. This is a general guide: on a light with a socket, it is the chosen bulb that sets the temperature, not the light.
LED bulb or screw bulb on a socket?
The majority of references take a screw bulb, not included: E27, E14, GU10 or G9 depending on the model. An LED bulb with the right socket consumes less and heats little, which matters on a closed wall light. A few models have integrated LED, with a temperature announced between 2700 and 3500 K. To spot these versions, the home lights show the technology used.
In which rooms should you install a DFTP light?
DFTP lights are designed for the living room and bedroom, then for the entrance, hallway and staircase. Wall lights cover circulation areas and rooms where floor space is lacking, the pendant structures a dining area, the floor lamp lights a reading corner.
Living room and bedroom: hang or place?
In the living room, a pendant above the table creates a fixed point, while a floor lamp stays mobile. In the bedroom, you look for low light: Takai dressed in beige fabric diffuses without dazzling above the bed. The Shapes opal globe in glass and brass plays the same card in a brighter version.
Entrance, hallway, staircase: lighting the circulation
In a hallway, the logic is that of the repeated point: two or three wall lights aligned at eye level are enough. MIB 6, the inclined tube does not exceed 6 cm in diameter, which makes it discreet in a narrow passage. On a staircase, you need a longer arm: that of Darci and its articulated arm carries the light towards the steps.
| Room | What matters | Models to look at | Format and material |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entrance | compact format, grazing light on the wall | MIB 6, Makoto | Ø 6 cm and Ø 3 cm, metal and aluminium |
| Hallway | several light points aligned | Angle, Nexus 2 | Ø 10 cm, metal and plastic |
| Staircase | long arm to cover the stairwell | Darci, Stay Noire | H 36.5 cm and H 54.5 cm, articulated arm |
| Bedroom | soft light, reading in bed | Shapes, Takai | glass and brass, beige fabric |
| Living room | a pendant or floor lamp that structures | Latif, Lunnelora | glass and metal, inclined stem of 143 cm |
Which material and finish for a DFTP wall light?
Metal dominates the collection, often combined with plastic, glass, aluminium or wood depending on the models. Black, beige, white, grey and silver make up the finishes: black marks the silhouette, beige and white blend into the wall, silver and gold bring a more dressed touch.
Black, beige or white: which colour to choose?
On a light wall, a black wall light draws a sharp silhouette, like the Furiko tube wall light. Beige and white fade more: Nexus 2 in white and grey is noticed mainly for its light. On a dark wall, the gap is reversed: black drowns, white stands out.
Metal, glass, aluminium, wood: what it changes on the wall
Painted metal gives a matte, uniform surface, brushed aluminium catches the light, as on the Makoto chrome wall light. Opal glass diffuses gently, the leather strap of Strap 15 with leather strap warms an interior, the wood of Pure Bois and its wooden stem brings a natural note. These materials change the look on the wall, not the light emitted.
How to install and maintain a DFTP light?
Installation remains simple: switch off the power, fix the bracket, connect, then fit a bulb of the right socket without exceeding the maximum wattage indicated. The whole selection is IP20, therefore reserved for dry rooms. Some models accept a dimmer, to be checked on the product sheet.
Should you plan for a dimmer?
Only some models are compatible with a dimmer, like the Latif pendant. On the others, the bulb is chosen in a non-dimmable version. Before buying a dimmer switch, check this line on the product sheet: it avoids buzzing or flickering at low intensity.
IP20: what it implies room by room
An IP20 rating means the light is protected against fingers and dust, but not against water. Living room, bedroom, entrance, hallway, staircase, dressing room and toilet are suitable; a bathroom or outdoor area requires another protection rating. This is a general industry guide, valid for the whole collection. A soft cloth is enough to maintain the wall lights and pendants of our lighting department.
The DFTP floor lamp for the living room: which format to choose?
The Lunnelora floor lamp measures 143 cm high with a conical shade of 22.5 cm in diameter and a base of 58 cm in depth. Its inclined stem makes it minimalist, with an E14 socket and 25 W maximum per bulb, for the living room, office or bedroom.
What footprint should you plan for on the floor?
Allow around 58 cm in depth, plus a margin to move an armchair back or open a drawer. The height of 143 cm places the shade above an armrest, which limits glare when seated. The inclined stem of the Lunnelora floor lamp also brings the light closer to the reading plane.
Floor lamp and wall light: how to match them?
The floor lamp carries low light, the wall light illuminates the wall. Stay with the same family of materials, black or beige metal on both sides, without multiplying shades. A floor lamp alone leaves the corners of a large living room in shadow; a wall light above a piece of furniture completes the scene without taking up floor space.

Need help choosing a model?
Designix customer service answers questions about socket, dimension or dimmer compatibility before ordering. If you hesitate between a wall light and a pendant, give the room, the available height and the use: the answer follows from these three elements. Spargo Noire and its brass loop or the Stay wall light with conical shade are distinguished mainly by their footprint, to be decided according to the wall.
Choose the room and the socket first, then validate the format: that is the method that avoids a return. Browsing the lighting selection gives you all the necessary dimensions.
Frequently asked questions about DFTP lights
Which bulb should you choose for a DFTP wall light?
It depends on the socket: GU10 on Angle, MIB 6, Nexus 2, Pure Bois and Strap 15, E14 on Darci, Darci Short, Shapes, Latif and Lunnelora, E27 on Spargo Noire, Stay, Stay Noire and Takai, G9 on Furiko and Makoto. Respect the maximum wattage per bulb indicated on the sheet of the model concerned.
What bulb wattage for a DFTP wall light?
Each model sets its limit: 5 W on Makoto, 6 W on Furiko and Nexus 2, 8 W on Strap 15, 20 W on MIB 6, 25 W on Darci, Darci Short, Shapes, Takai, Spargo Noire, Latif and Lunnelora, 60 W on Stay and Stay Noire. Never exceed this value, the holder and wiring are not designed for more.
Can a DFTP wall light go in a bathroom?
No: the lights in the collection are IP20, a protection rating that corresponds to dry rooms such as the living room, bedroom, entrance, hallway, staircase or dressing room. A wet room requires a model with a higher protection rating.
Can you install a dimmer on a DFTP light?
Some models are compatible with a dimmer, like the Latif pendant, which allows you to lower the intensity in the evening. This information appears on each product sheet: check it before choosing your bulb and your switch.
Which DFTP light for a hallway or staircase?
For a hallway, compact wall lights like MIB 6 and Makoto take up little space on the wall. For a staircase, a longer arm is better, Darci or Stay Noire, whose conical shade carries the light onto the steps.
