Start with the socket, then the shape: most ceramic lamps in this selection take an E27 bulb, while flat formats and slim pendants use G9 or GU10. Matte white ceramic spreads a soft light that does not glare and does not tint the room.
What is a ceramic lamp and what light does it give?
A ceramic lamp is a light whose shade, dome or body is made of ceramic, often white and matte. The material spreads light without glare and does not tint it the way coloured glass would. Here it comes with E27, G9 or GU10 sockets, for indoor use, at IP20.
Ceramic lamps, a material that spreads light without glare
Look at the source: a bare bulb burns into the retina, the same bulb behind a ceramic wall lights wide and low. Light bounces off the inner wall, comes out softened, and the eye never sees the filament. That is what makes these models comfortable above a table or facing a sofa. The Calranina pendant works on that principle, with its faceted shade that cuts light into small panels. On the wall, the Ceralune wall light and its arc opening cast a low, soft halo.
Why white ceramic dominates the selection
Matte white does not take on the colour of the wall and does not darken anything: it sends light back as it arrives. Coloured ceramic or smoked glass tints the room and tires the eye over a long evening. White also stays neutral over time, whatever the style of the furniture. Here ceramic is combined with glass on some models and with metal in small proportions. To see the full range, browse all Designix lights.
Ceiling light, pendant, wall light or bedside lamp in ceramic: which shape to choose?
A pendant lights from above, over a table or a worktop. A ceiling light fixed to the ceiling suits hallways and small rooms. The wall light lights without taking up floor space, and the bedside lamp, often with integrated LED and dimmer, sits on a bedside table.
| Type | Recommended room | Socket | Listed format | What it changes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conical shade pendant | Living room, bedroom, dining room, hallway, kitchen | E27 | W 16 cm, H max 128 cm | Downward light above a table or worktop |

| Slim cylinder pendant | Corridor, hallway, living room, bedroom | GU10 | Ø 8 cm, H max 132 cm | Narrow beam, to line up at several points |
| Ceramic ceiling light | Corridor, hallway, living room, dining room, bedroom | GU10 | Ø 14.5 cm, H 14 cm | Direct lighting with no pendant, close to the ceiling |
| Low square wall light | Corridor, hallway, living room, dining room | G9 | W 15 cm, D 36 cm, H 4.5 cm | Flat, wide format, discreet in height |
| Bedside lamp with integrated LED | Bedroom, study | Integrated LED | W 26 cm, D 13.6 cm | Adjustable accent light with dimmer |
Ceramic ceiling light: for a corridor or a hallway
A ceiling light is chosen on its diameter and its height once fitted. The Mirlinissa ceiling light measures 14.5 cm across and 14 cm high, with a silver reflector and a GU10 socket: it fits in a narrow corridor and lights straight below it, with no hanging cone. In a hallway, this type of model goes in the centre, or twice in a line if the passage is long. For other flush options, look at the recessed spotlights.
Ceramic chandelier: what a shade pendant brings
Above a table, the role of a chandelier is played here by conical, ovoid or dome pendants, mostly in E27. The Marlinilo pendant has a 30 cm dome and a braided cable that drops to 122 cm: wide enough to cover a round table. The adjustable cable lets you set the height without tools. See also all pendants to compare diameters.
Which room to install a ceramic lamp in?
Ceramic is found mostly in the bedroom, living room and dining room, then in the hallway and corridor. In the kitchen, a white pendant or wall light above the worktop remains the common use. For a toilet, a wall light is enough; at IP20, these models are meant for dry rooms, not the bathroom.
Kitchen lights: pendant or wall light?
Above a worktop, a wall light frees up the passage and lights the working area. The Roslinella, a half-cylinder, measures 29 cm high and 16.5 cm deep (10 cm wide): it lights downwards without getting in the way. If you prefer to bring the light down, a slim GU10 pendant spreads the points above the worktop. Compare modern kitchen lighting and the designer kitchen light.
Lights for toilets and corridors: which wall light?
In a corridor or a toilet, you want a flat model that does not catch the eye. The Mirlinella, a 14 cm cube, lights in both directions and sits at shoulder height. Low square wall lights, in G9 at 15 cm by 36 cm and 4.5 cm thick, slip above a door. Find them in the toilet lights.
Bedroom: bedside lamp or wall light?
A bedside lamp moves, adjusts and sits on a bedside table: the Halora measures 26 cm by 13.6 cm, with integrated warm white LED and a dimmer. A wall light frees the bedside table and fixes the light to the wall, but you have to drill and run the power. For soft room lighting, add LED lights for the living room.
How to match a white ceramic lamp in a living room or dining room?
Matte white goes with almost any wall and leaves room for other materials: wood, linen, concrete. With Nordic decor, keep low, round shapes; with an industrial interior, make the most of the braided or textile cable. Ceramic does not take on the colour of the room and does not tint its light.
Modern lights: what place for ceramic?
The modern style dominates the selection, with simple geometric shapes and plenty of white. A white pendant above a table, a wall light on the wall, and the rest follows: ceramic does not need a colour match. In a room already full of materials, it acts as a calm point. Browse the modern living room light, the designer pieces for the living room and the dining room pendants.
Vintage lights: what gives the retro feel
The matte finish, the textile cable and the ovoid or conical shapes are enough to give a period character without pastiche. An ovoid shade on a braided cable, in white, recalls the farm light of the 1950s. On the 2026 trend side, this selection stays with matte white and geometric shapes, with exposed cables that bring the material, and integrated warm white LEDs. For a more worked finish, see the high-end selection.
E27, G9 or GU10: which socket and which bulb to choose?
Most models work with an E27 socket, to be completed with a screw bulb. Flat wall lights and slim pendants use G9 or GU10 instead, more compact bulbs. Bedside lamps with integrated LED need nothing extra and are dimmable on some models.
| Socket | Share of models | Listed power | Bulb to provide | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| E27 | 63% | 15 W | E27 screw bulb | Pendants and wall lights, most of the selection |
| G9 | 17% | 8 W | G9 bulb | Flat, wide wall lights |
| GU10 | 10% | 10 W | GU10 bulb | Slim pendants and ceiling light |
| Integrated LED | 7% | 14 W | None, LED not replaceable | Bedside lamps, some with dimmer |
| E14 | 3% | not specified | E14 bulb | Compact models |
Which bulb for a ceramic wall light?
On an E27 socket, the bulb is for the customer to choose: it is the only element the product page does not provide. Take a screw bulb with the same socket, preferably LED, and check that its length fits inside the shade. On flat G9 wall lights, the bulb is shorter and must be pushed fully into the socket. Format matters more than brand.
Dimmer and light temperature: what is possible
A minority of models accept a dimmer, mainly among bedside lamps and integrated LEDs. On models with integrated LED, the light is set to warm white, around 2700 to 3500 K depending on the model: that is the only temperature stated in the selection. On an empty socket, the temperature will depend on the bulb you screw in, to be chosen between warm white and neutral white depending on use.
How to install and care for a ceramic lamp?
A pendant is fixed to the ceiling by its canopy and adjusted in height: the cable on the models in the collection drops to 122 to 132 cm. A wall light goes on the wall, at shoulder height in a corridor. Ceramic is dusted with a soft cloth, without abrasive products.
At what height should a pendant hang above the dining table?
The method is simple: cable set short at first, then lower it until the shade lights the centre of the table without entering the line of sight of seated guests. A large shade hangs higher than a small one, otherwise it hides faces. The models in the collection offer an adjustment range of up to 122, 126, 128 or 132 cm depending on the cable. See all pendants and our lights catalogue.
Do you need a dimmer?
Useful in a bedroom or for a bedside lamp, a dimmer is less so on a dining room pendant, where you want stable light. On an E27 socket, a dimmable bulb is often enough, provided the model supports it. Some models in the collection include the function directly. Every product is guaranteed for five years.
Original lights: how to move beyond the classic white lamp?
The shapes go beyond the classic square and round: dome, ovoid, tube, half-cylinder, facets. The braided or textile cable brings relief, on a matte white base. For a truly different light, then, you play with the shape of the shade rather than the colour, since the ceramic in the collection is almost always white.
Original decorative lights: play the shape rather than the colour
An ovoid shade stretches the silhouette and gives movement to a low ceiling. The Lorlineno pendant, with its Ø 25 cm and braided cable, fills the vertical space without weighing it down. A slim tube, by contrast, repeats in a line and draws a rhythm. That is where the extra character lies: in the drawing of the shade and the cable. Explore the models with a singular design.
Ball, tube or faceted shapes: what effect in the room?
The ball lights in all directions and suits a living space. The tube, very narrow, is used to mark out a corridor and goes in a series. The faceted shape cuts the light and creates soft shadows on the wall. The Sorlineta pendant, an 8 cm cylinder in GU10, lines up at several points. Copper and black finishes exist elsewhere in the catalogue, to be seen in the copper finishes, the black pendants or the beige models.
Light shop: where to see these ceramics and how to choose well?
The collection is available online, with secure payment, tracked delivery and returns, and a Designix customer service for any question. If you are looking for a light shop in Lyon or light clearance in Lyon, this service tells you what is available and what can be shipped.
Where to find quality lights?
On each product page, four elements can be checked without going anywhere: the material, the dimensions, the socket and the protection rating. That information is enough to compare two models without seeing them. The rest, the finish and the way the light looks, is judged from photos and confirmed on delivery, with the option to return. The Designix customer service answers on stock and lead times. You can also compare with the black wood lights and the high-end selection.
How to check that a ceramic lamp will last?
Fired ceramic resists the heat of the bulb and does not yellow. Three points matter: a five-year guarantee across the whole selection, an IP20 rating suited to dry rooms, and precisely stated dimensions, which tell you whether the shade will take a standard bulb. A thick ceramic wall protects the eye better than a thin one.
Frequently asked questions
Lights for toilets: which one to install?
A white ceramic wall light suits a toilet: it lights without taking up the wall, with an E27 or G9 socket depending on the model. These wall lights are IP20, so meant for a dry room. A low square or half-cylinder model limits the bulk above the door.
Ceramic chandelier: what alternative in the collection?
The role of a chandelier above a table is played here by pendants with conical, ovoid or dome shades, mostly with an E27 socket. They spread downward light above the table, with an adjustable cable that drops to 122 to 132 cm depending on the model.
Ceramic floor lamp: where to find one?
This selection of ceramic lamps does not include a floor lamp: it brings together pendants, ceiling lights, wall lights and bedside lamps. For a standing light, another family in the catalogue groups those models, to be found in the floor lights.
Can a ceramic lamp be installed in a bathroom?
Not in this selection: all models have an IP20 protection rating, suited to dry rooms such as the living room, bedroom, hallway, corridor or kitchen. In a bathroom, you need a light designed for damp, to be found in our bathroom lighting.
Ceramic, glass or metal light: what is the difference?
Ceramic spreads light without glare and does not tint it: it behaves like a matte white that stays white. Glass, present on some models in the collection, lets light through more easily, and metal stays marginal, mainly on supports and details.
One last check before ordering: take the format of the bulkiest piece, the socket and the cable height, and check that they fit the room. Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns, and Designix customer service for stock or compatibility questions. Then compare the modern lights for the living room, the high-end models and the whole Designix catalogue.
