An alabaster wall light combines a metal base, brass, steel or bronze, with a translucent mineral diffuser that filters the light. Each piece has its own veining, the effect stays soft: the models in this selection are all IP20 and the LED versions diffuse warm white light from 2700 to 3500 K.

What is an alabaster wall light and what light does it give?
Alabaster is a translucent mineral material, mounted on a metal frame. Light passes through the thickness of the stone instead of piercing it, which removes direct glare and gives a milky halo. In all the wall lights of this family, the base stays visible and the diffuser carries the light.
Alabaster wall light: a material that filters light
No two diffusers look alike: the veining varies from one piece to another, with shades of milky white and cream. That is what sets alabaster apart from opal glass, which is more uniform. The metal of the base structures the silhouette. On the LED models, the light block sits behind the stone, invisible from the room. To compare the available technologies, browse the LED wall lights.
What light temperature for an alabaster wall light?
The LED models in the collection are set to warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K depending on the reference. That is the range suited to a hallway, a bedroom or a living room in the evening: warmer than 2700 K, the light turns orange; above 3500 K, it cools the cream veining. All models are rated IP20, so they are reserved for dry rooms.
How to choose between a round, ball, tube or dome alabaster wall light?
The choice comes down first to size, then to the direction of the light. A round model 250 mm in diameter takes up wall width, a 650 mm tall tube works vertically, a 140 mm ball goes unnoticed. Measure the free space around the mounting box before deciding.
| Shape | Reference model | Measured dimensions | Recommended rooms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Round | Sveva | Ø 250 mm, H 275 mm, D 105 mm | Hallway, staircase, bedroom, living room |
| Ball | Albara | Ø 140 mm, D 90 mm | Hallway, bedroom, entrance |
| Vertical tube | Velmileta | H 650 mm, W 70 mm, D 100 mm | Staircase, hallway |
| Elongated oval | Albare | H 395 mm, W 100 mm, D 85 mm | Staircase, entrance, living room |
| Elongated bar | Calmilano | H 360 mm, W 50 mm, D 100 mm | Bedroom |
| Half-dome | Nerkanella | D 30 cm, H 15 cm | Hallway, entrance, toilet |
Round alabaster wall light: the all-purpose format
The 250 mm diameter disc works as well in a hallway as on a stairwell, at passage height. Several finishes exist on this template, from white to gilded brass, which lets you repeat two or three along a wall. Find them among the round models in the shop.
Brass alabaster wall light: what the finish changes
Brass warms the white of the alabaster and matches handles, taps and gilded frames. Bronze, darker, marks the contrast with the pale diffuser more strongly. A cream ball on a brass base, like Albara in veined alabaster, stays discreet in a small format. The vertical tube Velmelita plays the same card over 650 mm of height.
Is there a black alabaster wall light?
The alabaster of these models stays white or cream: that is the nature of the material. Some pieces, however, combine a black central disc or dark fixings with the pale diffuser, which creates a crisp contrast. If you are looking for a fully dark fixture, look instead at black wall lights, which rely on other materials.
What socket and wattage for an alabaster wall light?
The socket determines the source, and therefore the use. Models with integrated LED are the most numerous here, with measured wattages from 5 to 19 W in warm white, some of which accept a dimmer. The E27 and G9 versions take a bulb of your choice, handy for adjusting the mood or replacing a source without changing the wall light.
| Socket | Source | Measured wattages | Temperature | Dimmer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Integrated LED | Non-replaceable LED | 5 W to 19 W depending on the model | Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Possible on some models |
| E27 | Bulb of your choice | Not specified | Depends on the bulb fitted | Not specified |
| G9 | Bulb of your choice | Not specified | Depends on the bulb fitted | Not specified |
An integrated LED cannot be replaced: it is therefore chosen once and for all, keeping the desired intensity in mind. The bar Arimilina in brass and alabaster is rated 15 W, the long version Calmilano is rated 14 W and accepts a dimmer. On the E27 side, the Cello in bronze and alabaster wall light leaves the choice of bulb and temperature to you. To dig into the technical differences, compare the LED wall lights with each other.
Where to install an alabaster wall light at home?
Alabaster works wherever you want to see without being dazzled: hallways and entrances, bedrooms, living rooms, stairwells, dressing rooms and toilets. In the collection data, the bedroom and hallway come first, followed by the living room, then the staircase and the entrance. A simple rule: one source per area to light, never two on the same metre of wall.
Staircase wall light: one silhouette per landing
On a climb, the vertical silhouette follows the eye. The 650 mm tube and the 395 mm oval are made for this, while a 250 mm round marks the landings and resting points. As a rule, these models are placed about one metre above the stair nosing, and the same model is repeated at regular intervals. See the available staircase wall lights.
Toilet wall light: small format, eye height
In a toilet or a small hallway, the 140 mm diameter ball and the half-dome 300 mm deep by 15 cm high take up little space. They are fixed at eye height, around 1.60 m to 1.70 m from the floor as a rule, to light the passage without catching the eye. The hallway wall lights gather these small formats.
Living room wall light: how to match it to your decor?
In a living room, the alabaster wall light works as accent lighting, not as the main light: it warms a stretch of wall, highlights a bookcase or lights a reading armchair. Two models are often enough, placed on either side of a seat or a piece of furniture. The finish, gilded, white or bronze, decides the mood more than the shape.
Modern living room wall light
Slim bars, 8 cm wide by 6.6 cm deep, blend into a pared-back interior: the stone barely stands out from the wall. A gilded base adds a clean line. The bar Veralba and the brighter version Alabaste play this role. Find more ideas in the modern living room wall lights.
Boho chic wall light
The mix of a cream ball and gilded brass works with raw wood, linen and ceramic. In this register, one well-chosen fixture is better than an aligned series. The ball format and the ball wall lights give this soft note, without falling into heavy ornament.
Country chic wall light
For a country chic wall light, look for the bronze oval: the elongated shape, the dark tone of the metal and the cream diffuser match pale walls and beams. The Albare in bronze model illustrates this discreet register well. The gilded finishes also work, provided you keep them understated.
An alabaster wall light for the bathroom or outdoors?
No: all the models in this collection are rated IP20, a protection intended for dry rooms, sheltered from splashes. In a bathroom or under a porch, you need a fixture with a higher ingress protection rating, generally IP44 for areas exposed to splashes. Alabaster stays in the bedroom, hallway, living room or entrance.
Alabaster bathroom wall light: which protection to choose?
An IP44 rating means the fixture resists water splashes and dust. That is the minimum to aim for near a washbasin; closer to the shower, the required rating goes up further depending on the zone. Go for IP44 bathroom wall lights rather than an IP20 alabaster model.
Can you install a watertight outdoor wall light?
Yes, provided you choose a model designed for outdoors, with a suitable IP rating and materials that withstand moisture. No model in this collection falls into that category. For dry interiors, keep the indoor wall lights at the top of your list.
How to install and care for an alabaster wall light?
Installation is done on a mounting box, with the power switched off at the breaker. Mark the height before drilling: eye height in a hallway, around 1.70 m from the floor as a rule, or higher to light a passage without getting in the way. A soft, dry cloth is then enough for the alabaster, with no abrasive product.
Dimmer and bulb: what is possible
Not all models are compatible with a dimmer: only part of the selection accepts one, in particular integrated LED references such as the Velmelita tube or the Calmilano bar. On an E27 version, you choose the bulb and its temperature yourself. The round Sveva model shows how metal and stone combine on a 250 mm template.
Warranty and care of an alabaster fixture
The selection covers 2 to 5 years depending on the model, with the majority guaranteed for 3 years. Dust with a soft cloth, never water on the stone or aggressive cleaner on the metal: that is the essentials. For a large ceiling or wall model, the metal wall lights share the same care routine.
What are the trends for wall lights in 2026?
What this collection shows comes down to a few lines: translucent mineral diffusers, round or vertical shapes, integrated LED in warm white and gilded or bronze metals. Long lengths, tubes and elongated ovals, are gaining ground because they dress a wall while staying slim. The wall fixture is becoming an object placed on its own, rather than a simple point of light. For a whole room, complete the look with our selection of light fixtures.
Frequently asked questions about the alabaster wall light
How to choose an original wall light?
The veining of alabaster makes each diffuser unique: two pieces of the same model do not have exactly the same shades of white and cream. Then play with the silhouette (ball, tube, dome, oval) and the finish, from gilded brass to bronze. One well-placed model is often enough to personalise a wall.
Is there a powerful LED alabaster wall light?
Yes. The integrated LED models in the collection range from 5 to 19 W, for example the Velmileta vertical tube or the elongated bars. The higher the measured wattage, the more direct the lighting becomes, while staying in warm white from 2700 to 3500 K. Best kept for areas that really need light.
Which wall light for a designer toilet or WC?
Aim for a small format that does not encroach on the passage: the 140 mm diameter cream ball or the half-dome 300 mm deep by 15 cm high. These round shapes light without dazzling and sit at eye height. Plan for a dry room, as the collection is rated IP20.
Can you install an alabaster wall light in the bathroom?
Not with these references: they are all IP20, a protection intended for dry rooms. In a bathroom, choose a model rated IP44, protected against water splashes, and keep alabaster for the bedroom, hallway, living room or entrance. The ingress protection rating appears on every product page.
Which wall light to choose for a staircase?
Prefer a vertical silhouette: the 650 mm tall tube and the 395 mm oval follow the eye upwards, while a 250 mm round marks the landings. As a rule, they are placed about one metre above the stair nosing and the same model is repeated at regular intervals for a consistent line.
