What is a 3 light pendant and what light does it give?

Which colour temperature and socket to choose?

For a dining area or a bedroom, aim for warm white light, around 2700 to 3500 K, which warms skin tones and wood. Neutral white, around 3500 to 4500 K, suits a kitchen or a worktop. Cool white, above 4500 K, is reserved for technical areas.

Warm, neutral or cool white

Warm white accounts for a third of the temperatures offered, neutral a little less, cool a smaller share. If you are looking for a natural, subdued atmosphere, look to rattan or bamboo, which filter and soften the light. An adjustable source is better than a fixed choice.

Classic socket or integrated LED

LED equips a majority of the references, which avoids the question of replacement; conversely, E27, E14 and G9 sockets let you choose the bulb and temperature. LED models are grouped in the LED pendant, and only a minority is rated IP44 for a damp room.

Start from the dominant colour of the room, then choose the pendant in the same family or in strong contrast. Gold dresses nearly three quarters of the models, often combined with white or black, which leaves little room for doubt with light wood, beige or grey.

Gold dominates, followed by white and black equally, then red and green as rarer accents. Gold warms a wood or stone interior; black structures a white room and underlines the line of three points. How to install and care for a 3 light pendant?

Switch off the power at the circuit breaker, fix the ceiling rose to a solid box or support, then adjust the heights before screwing in the bulbs. One in five models accepts a dimmer: check this point before buying the switch, otherwise dimming will not work.

Installation heights and cable balance

Above a table, allow about 75 to 85 cm between the tabletop and the bottom of the heads. For an island, aim for 80 to 90 cm so as not to obstruct the view. Adjust the three cables to the same length, then check the vertical from two angles: a 1,050 mm frame does not forgive approximation.

Cleaning and durability

A soft cloth is enough on metal and aluminium; glass is cleaned with glass spray, with the power off and once cooled. The manufacturer's warranty ranges from two years on a majority of models to five years on a notable share of the selection, and three years on a few references.
