Start by counting the space and the height available: a hanging LED pendant light is chosen for the area it has to light, above a table, a worktop or a walkway. The whole selection is LED and IP20, with an integrated socket, E27, GU10 or E14 depending on the model, and ball, round, tube or oval shapes.
How do you choose a hanging LED pendant light?
You choose first by room, then by shape and material: glass for transparency, metal or aluminium for the structure, acrylic to diffuse the light without glare. Then check the socket (integrated LED, E27, GU10 or E14) and the light temperature. Every model in the selection is IP20 and LED.
Material, shape and colour: the choices that decide the look
Metal and aluminium hold the structure and stay visible; glass plays with the reflections of the source; acrylic softens the diffusion. Ball and round shapes dominate, followed by tube and oval. On colour, gold and white cover most models, while black signs the graphic pieces. The Lotus pendant light combines metal, acrylic, iron and aluminium in a 19 cm format, with an LED socket. For contemporary lines, browse the modern LED pendant lights. The warranty runs from two to three years depending on the model.
IP20: which rooms can take a LED pendant light?
IP20 means the light is protected against solid objects and contact, but not against water splashes: it goes in a dry room, never above a bathtub or a shower. That applies to this whole selection. The choice therefore comes down to ceiling height and distance to the furniture.
| Room | What matters first | Suitable shapes and materials | To check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Living room | The light has to come down and spread | Ball, oval, ring; glass, metal, brass | LED or E27 socket, cable adjustment, dimmer |
| Kitchen | Light the worktop without glare | Round or oval; glass, acrylic, linen | Light temperature, height above the worktop |
| Bedroom | A soft, low light | Ball in 15 to 30 cm; glass, acrylic | Warm white, moderate intensity |
| Dining room | Frame the table | Ball, tube, floral shape; glass, metal | Adjustable height, number of light points |
| Hallway and staircase | Stay readable from below | Large shape or cascade; glass, metal | Cable length, ceiling fixing base |
Which LED pendant light should you choose for a living room?
For a living room, glass models and large ball or ring shapes spread the light instead of concentrating it on one point. Gold and white dominate the finishes. Plan for an integrated LED or E27 socket, and a dimmer to lower the mood in the evening.
Living room LED ceiling light: pendant, chandelier or wall light?
A pendant comes down above the dining area and frames the table; a ceiling light stays flat against the ceiling and lights broadly. A chandelier, more decorative, stacks several light points. A wall light brings the extra without competing with the pendant. The other families are gathered in the Designix lights, and the pieces with several sources in the boldly designed pendant lights.
Cable adjustment: the heights actually available
The Kory modern steel hanging chandelier adjusts from 20 to 125 cm in height and hangs from a 140 cm cable, with a 114 cm wide shade: enough to frame a large table. Above a tabletop, the base of the light usually sits between 70 and 80 cm from the table surface, depending on the height of the guests and the size of the room.
Which LED pendant light for a kitchen?
In a kitchen, a pendant that comes down close to the worktop and lights without glare works best: glass, acrylic or linen, round or oval shape. A cool white renders colours accurately, a warm white warms the room. An integrated LED socket makes maintenance simpler.
Powerful kitchen LED ceiling light: which source above the worktop?
The stated wattage does not say everything: what matters is a source aimed at the worktop, low enough not to cast a shadow on your hands. The Calla oval kitchen pendant light is 200 mm wide and combines metal, acrylic, aluminium and linen, with an LED socket. Other formats are gathered in the LED pendant lights for the kitchen and the glass pendant lights for kitchens. Over an island, plan for two or three aligned points rather than one large light.
Warm white or cool white above the worktop?
Cool white, around 4500 to 6500 K, renders colours sharply and suits preparation; warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, warms a kitchen open to the living room. Both ranges exist in the selection. See also the white pendant lights for kitchens.
Bedroom, hallway and staircase: which hanging LED pendant light?
In a bedroom, a white or gold glass pendant that diffuses gives a soft, low light. In a hallway or a stairwell, height dictates the choice: a long or adjustable cable and a shape that stays readable from below work better.
White pendant light for a bedroom: aim for a soft light
Warm white suits a bedroom: the light is lower and less contrasted there. The white glass glowing sphere comes in 15, 20, 25 and 30 cm diameters, with an LED socket and a dimmer. To refine, compare the white pendant lights for bedrooms and the gold pendant lights for bedrooms.
Hallway and stairwell: play with the cable height
The black cascade for large volumes hangs from a 350 cm cable with a 60 cm diameter shape, in glass and metal, and accepts a dimmer: it stays readable from the bottom of the stairs. In a narrow corridor or hallway, a 20 to 25 cm shape is often enough. The black design finish helps you decide in this type of room.
LED chandelier, LED ceiling light or LED ceiling lighting: what are the differences?
A ceiling light is fixed to the ceiling, without a cable; a chandelier and a pendant come down into the room, above a table or a specific area. Here, every model is LED and hung by cable, with heights that are often adjustable: best kept for volumes where the light has to come down.
LED chandelier: when should you prefer it to a pendant?
The chandelier takes over when the room has volume and the light becomes part of the decor: several sources, crystal or glass, a presence above a large table. A sober metal or acrylic pendant goes unnoticed and lights a smaller area. Both hang from the ceiling by a cable. See also the glass pendant lights.
LED ceiling lighting: fixed or hanging?
A fixed light suits low or busy rooms, where nothing should come down into the walkway. A hanging light marks out an area: table, island, hallway, stairwell. The whole selection is IP20, so for dry rooms. For the other families, head to all our lights.
| Stated setting | Rendering in the room | Where to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Warm white 2700 to 3500 K | Warm light, restful mood | Living room, bedroom, dining room |
| Cool white 4500 to 6500 K | Sharp light, true colours | Kitchen, hallway, staircase |
| Integrated LED | Source included, no bulb to plan for | Most hanging models |
| E27 socket | Bulb replaceable by the user | Kitchen and glass pendant lights |
| GU10 or E14 socket | Directional or small format source | Compact and crystal shapes |
| Dimmer | Intensity adjustable to suit the moment | Models stated as compatible |
How do you install and care for a hanging LED pendant light?
Fix the base to the ceiling, adjust the cable height, then connect the power; if a dimmer is planned, the switch has to be compatible. For care, a soft cloth is enough on metal, aluminium and acrylic, and glass is cleaned with clear water.
Dimmer and light temperature: what can be adjusted after installation
The dimmer is chosen at the time of purchase: not every model supports one, and a standard switch is not enough to vary the intensity. Temperature, on the other hand, is set by the model, warm white or cool white. Compatible references are gathered in the dimmable pendant lights.
Cleaning glass, metal and acrylic without damaging them
Glass and crystal: clear water and immediate drying to avoid marks. Metal and aluminium: soft cloth, no abrasive product. Acrylic: soft cloth, no alcohol. Wood and natural stone: dry dusting only. Cut the power before working on it. Warm materials are gathered in the wood models.
What are the finest designer pendant lights?
Design comes down to shape and finish: glass ball, rings, slim tube or floral shape, in gold, black or white. Models with an adjustable cable and several light points structure the space. Choose a shape that talks to the furniture rather than an isolated model.
LED pendant lights with rings, ball or tube
The ball and the ring give volume; the tube stretches the line above a surface; the oval softens the whole. The Lotus Harmonie florale pendant light comes in 24 to 70 cm depending on the version, in metal, acrylic, iron and aluminium. For other lines, see the Nordic pendant lights and the industrial style metal pendant lights.
Gold, black or white: matching the finish to the rest of the room
Gold warms and matches light woods as well as stone; black marks graphic interiors and kitchens; white blends into the ceiling and lets the light take the stage. To follow a shade, browse the gold finish pendant lights or the modern white pendant lights.
What budget should you plan for a hanging LED pendant light?
The budget depends on the material, the number of light points and the finish: a simple metal or acrylic pendant stays affordable, a piece in glass, crystal or natural stone sits higher. The dimmer and the two or three year warranty are also part of the calculation.
What pushes up the price of a LED pendant light
The number of sources, the material (glass, crystal, natural stone, brass), the finish and the quality of assembly make the difference. A large, worked format sits higher than a simple sphere. The natural stone and gold pendant light illustrates the exceptional piece, at the opposite end from acrylic models.
Dimmable pendant light: the extra comfort
Compare the gold and black pendant lights too before settling on a finish.
Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service accompany every order. Choose the room, the shape, the light temperature, then set the height: that trio decides the final look.
Frequently asked questions about hanging LED pendant lights
What are the drawbacks of LED lamps?
An LED cannot always be replaced: when the source is integrated, you have to change the module, not the bulb. The colour temperature is set by the model, warm white or cool white, and the rendering is less warm than a filament bulb. In exchange, consumption stays low and the lifespan is long.
Which LED ceiling light for a living room?
A ceiling light is fixed to the ceiling and lights broadly; for a living room, a pendant lowered above the dining area creates a focal point. The widest models and glass ball shapes suit best, with an LED or E27 socket and an adjustable cable.
LED chandelier or LED pendant light: which to choose?
Both come down from the ceiling by a cable. A chandelier is more decorative, with several light points and often crystal or glass; a pendant is more sober, in metal, aluminium or acrylic. This collection contains both approaches, in LED, with adjustable heights.
LED ceiling lighting: fixed or hanging?
A fixed light suits low or busy rooms, where nothing should come down into the walkway. A hanging light marks out an area: table, island, hallway. Every model in this selection is hung by cable and IP20, so for dry rooms.
Should you add a LED wall light to a pendant?
A pendant lights an area, not the whole room: a wall light brings the accompanying light, in a living room as in a bedroom. This collection only contains pendant lights; for the wall extra, go through the Designix lights family, where LED wall lights are grouped by room and by style.
