At what height should a pendant light hang above a table?

Generally, the bottom of the light sits 75 to 85 cm above the top of a dining table, a little higher above a worktop. A single model is centred on the table; for several points, allow about 30 cm between each edge. The rest of the Designix lighting catalogue follows these guidelines.

Which E27 bulb to choose for a travertine pendant light?

The whole selection works with an E27 socket, so with a classic screw bulb. The listed wattages are 10 W on the Orsino and 40 W on Flamora and Phedra: the socket does not change, it is the wattage allowed by the model that differs. A bulb with a warm temperature respects the beige tone.

E27 socket: a screw bulb

The E27 socket is the most common: the bulb screws in, is replaced without tools and is chosen according to the desired effect. Stay within the wattage listed on the model sheet, 10 W or 40 W depending on the light. Generally, a bulb of 2700 to 3000 K gives a warm light that flatters the beige of the travertine and linen. Above 4000 K, the stone looks grey and the linen loses its warmth. An E27 socket accepts both: it is the bulb, not the light, that decides the mood.

Can a travertine pendant light be installed in a bathroom?

No: the models in the selection are rated IP20, a rating intended for dry rooms. In a bathroom, you need a light of at least IP44, protected against water splashes. Travertine is therefore reserved for the living room, dining room or kitchen, and possibly a dry hallway.

The IP rating is read in two digits: the first concerns dust, the second water. IP44 means protection against splashes, IP20 no protection against water. A pendant light in stone or linen placed near a bathtub would be damaged, even without direct contact: keep it for dry rooms.

How to install and care for a travertine pendant light?

Installation is that of a classic pendant light: ceiling fixing, cable adjustment, E27 screw bulb. For care, the stone and linen are dusted dry, without a wet product, which preserves the travertine veining and the shade colour.

Switch off the power at the breaker, fix the bracket to the ceiling with a plug suited to the material, then adjust the cable length before connecting. Orsino adjusts from 54 to 239 cm: make this adjustment before locking the pendant light, and check it is level with a spirit level. The connection remains a classic connection, to be entrusted to an installer if you have any doubt.

Cleaning travertine and linen

A dry microfibre cloth is enough on the stone; a soft vacuum brush removes dust from the linen shades. No alcohol, no detergent, no damp cloth on the travertine: natural stone drinks water and keeps marks. Regular dusting preserves the grain of the stone and the cream colour of the linen.
