Start with the room and the fixing point: a round pendant above a table, a floor lamp with a shade in a corner, a wall light in a hallway. Terracotta, from brick red to burnt orange, warms the light without darkening it. The collection brings together pendants, floor lamps and wall lights in clay, ceramic, metal and aluminium, with E27, G9 or LED module fittings.

What kind of light does a terracotta pendant light give?

A terracotta pendant light gives a warm glow resting on a mineral material: clay or ceramic, sometimes mixed with metal. The shade colour ranges from brick red to burnt orange, or lightens into white and green. The source is an LED module or an E27 or G9 bulb.

Terracotta colour: brick red or burnt orange?

Brick red is the most common tone in the selection, carried by clay shades and ceramic modules. Burnt orange appears on curved pieces, with visible sockets or cylindrical shades. White and green complete the range, useful when you want to keep a lamp discreet in a room that is already full of colour. A dark shade sends less light back to the ceiling; a light shade brightens the mood. The choice is therefore as much about the wall as about the lamp.

Warm light, yes, but which one?

When the temperature is given, it sits in warm white, around 2700 to 3500 K depending on the model. That is the register that suits a living room and a bedroom in the evening: an amber light, without harshness, that keeps faces natural. On pieces with an E27 or G9 fitting, the temperature depends on the bulb you screw in, which lets you adjust. For a hallway or an entrance, a slightly higher warm white stays readable without glare.

Which terracotta light should you choose for each room?

Every model in the collection is listed for the living room and the bedroom, 79% for the entrance and 50% for the kitchen as well as the dining room. So we distinguish pendants to hang above a table or a worktop, corner floor lamps and circulation wall lights.

Terracotta kitchen light: pendant or wall light?

Above a worktop or a table, a pendant concentrates the light where you chop and where you eat. Allow a mounting height of around 75 to 85 cm above the worktop, and 70 to 80 cm above a table, adjusted to the height of your guests. For a kitchen, prefer an LED module or an E27 bulb that is easy to replace, in a heavily used room. The kitchen lights in the selection also work in a design version.

How do you light a toilet or a narrow entrance?

In a narrow passage, a wall light frees the floor and lights the circulation. The collection includes several, among them a brick red T-shaped wall light 910 mm high, made for a hallway or a staircase, and an oval terracotta wall light 210 mm high for shorter spaces. A small round pendant of Ø 140 to 160 mm also suits an entrance where floor space is short. See the toilet lights.

Terracotta chandelier, floor lamp or wall light: which shape for which use?

A pendant lights a table or a reading corner, a floor lamp fills a corner and a wall light frees the floor in a hallway. In this collection, round pendants range from Ø 52 mm to Ø 285 mm, floor lamps take a G9 fitting and wall lights are fixed high up.

Terracotta chandelier and pendant: what is the difference?

A chandelier spreads light over several points, a pendant concentrates it on one. Here, pendants dominate: rounded shade, ball shape, brass cone or diamond module. The diameter drives everything: a Ø 140 mm lights a side table or a small entrance, a Ø 285 mm covers a table for six. For a large space with several light points, look instead at the pendants and chandeliers in the catalogue. The collection has 23 products.

Terracotta ceiling light: what is available in this selection?

The models mounted high up here are pendants with an adjustable cable or wall lights fixed at the top. A pendant set short acts as a ceiling light in an entrance or a landing, and a T-shaped wall light lights a staircase along its whole length without drilling the ceiling. For a true flush ceiling light, you need to look at other shapes, in particular recessed lights.

Two pieces set the tone: the terracotta sphere pendant with brass cone, in ceramic, Ø 140 mm, LED module, dimmable, and the ribbed terracotta shade floor lamp, Ø 180 mm on a black stem, G9 fitting.

Which colour goes best with terracotta?

Terracotta goes with off-white, beige and linen, which warm without competing, or with green and blue for a stronger contrast. On a terracotta wall, an ecru, sand or olive green curtain works better than a bright tone that crushes the brick.

Colours to pair with terracotta and the matching light
Paired colour Effect Where to use it Light nearby
Off-white soft contrast walls and curtains Conea ceramic pendant
Beige and linen warm continuity curtains, rug, sofa beige and linen tones
Green plant-like harmony accent wall, textiles green models
Blue cool contrast bedroom, dining room deep blue colour
Black and gold sharp outline cables, ceiling roses, brass Belmilessa with black cable
Burnt orange warm gradient accessories, tableware burnt orange lights

Which curtain colour with a terracotta wall?

Ecru, sand, washed linen or olive green sits alongside a terracotta wall without stealing the show. A very bright tone, bright red or saturated blue, crushes the brick and tires the eye. In a dark room, a light curtain lets the day through and the terracotta light warms the evening. A matte curtain rather than a shiny one keeps the mineral effect of terracotta.

Terracotta, beige or blue: which duo for a living room?

Terracotta and beige give a cosy living room, without rupture, ideal if the sofa is already light. Terracotta and deep blue create a more drawn contrast that structures a large room. Terracotta and green work on a single accent wall. To stay consistent, carry the same family of tones through the textiles and the shades: the modern living room lights offer plenty to keep that thread.

E27, G9 or integrated LED: how do you choose your terracotta light?

The fitting determines the bulb: E27 for a classic screw bulb, G9 for a small pin format, integrated LED when the source comes with the light. The collection uses all three, and dimming is possible on several models with an E27 fitting or an LED module.

E27 or G9: which bulb for a terracotta pendant?

The E27 fitting takes a standard screw bulb, available everywhere and easy to change, which makes life simpler in a room that is lit a lot. G9 takes a small pin bulb, which slips into a flat or low shade. Check the shape of the shade before choosing: a wide globe will not fit into a narrow cone. The LED module, for its part, is supplied and cannot be replaced.

Can you install a dimmer?

Yes, on some of the models, provided you use a dimmer compatible with the source installed. A non-dimmable LED bulb buzzes or flickers behind a dimmer: choose a bulb marked dimmable. This option changes daily life in a bedroom or a living room, where you go from reading light to late evening light. The manufacturer warranty is three years on most of the selection, two years on the rest.

A terracotta light in a bathroom or outdoors, is that possible?

Most models are rated IP20, a rating suited to dry rooms. One pendant in the collection is IP44, useful near a light water point, and a cylindrical outdoor wall light in aluminium is IP65. Beyond these ratings, no higher water resistance is guaranteed by the product data.

Where can you place a terracotta light near a water point?

The IP rating describes resistance to dust and splashes. IP20 suits a living room, a bedroom or a dry hallway. IP44 withstands splashes, which allows a pendant above a washbasin or a worktop, away from direct spray. IP65 resists water spray and rain. In a bathroom, keep IP20 models out of the water zones and look instead at pieces made for the bathroom.

Can the collection be installed outdoors?

Only one reference is made for outdoors: the cylindrical aluminium wall light, IP65, to fix under an awning or along a facade. The other models, in clay or ceramic, stay indoors. For a terrace or a garden, complete with modern outdoor lighting or white outdoor lights, which are better suited to damp conditions.

Modern, vintage or original lights: which style with terracotta?

The declared style of the collection is mostly contemporary, with a few bohemian or minimalist pieces. Shapes range from round and tube to ball and oval. The terracotta finish often evokes vintage decor, even when the line of the light stays current and understated.

Modern lights

A round ceramic pendant, a ribbed shade floor lamp on a black stem, a T-shaped wall light 50 mm thick: the lines stay fine and readable. Terracotta brings the colour, black metal or brass brings the discipline. It is the pairing that holds up best in a contemporary interior. To push consistency further, cross it with the pieces to hang above a dining table and living room LED lighting.

Vintage lights

Terracotta, curved shades and visible sockets recall the fifties without pastiche. Aged or textured terracotta, such as the faceted ceramic socket, plays that card. Pair it with dark wood, a patterned rug and a visible filament bulb. Stay understated elsewhere: one vintage piece per view is enough.

Original decorative lights

Multicoloured diamond and oval modules, an oval wall light with a central globe, braided cord: a few pieces break the mould. They suit an entrance or a reading corner where you want an object, not just a source. The catalogue of original decorative lights extends this vein, as does the lighting catalogue as a whole.

Where to find a lighting shop and how to get it delivered?

The selection can be browsed and ordered online, with secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service. If you are looking for a lighting shop in Lyon or a lighting clearance sale, the same points help you compare: type of light, fitting, protection rating, dimensions and the room it is for.

Lighting shop in Lyon or buying online: what should you compare?

In a shop, you judge the real size and the colour in daylight; online, you compare fittings, IP ratings and diameters faster. Note these four details before choosing, they prevent product returns. The lighting section brings everything together, and a choice of more elaborate pieces exists for more considered projects, with no comparison to a clearance sale.

What budget does a terracotta light represent?

The collection mixes affordable models, often in metal or braided plastic, and more elaborate pieces in clay or ceramic, which take longer to produce. The price shown on the grid reflects that difference in material and finish. A budget is therefore decided by material, size and type of source, not by colour alone.

For a hallway, the brick red T-shaped wall light, 40 W, dimmable and warm white, handles the lighting from a single point. For a living room corner, the ribbed terracotta shade floor lamp stands without any wall fixing.

Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service: you order, you install, and you adjust if needed. Browse all the lights or go back to the pendants and chandeliers and the floor lamps to complete the room.

Frequently asked questions

Which colour goes best with terracotta?

Off-white, beige and linen create a soft, bright contrast. For a stronger effect, a deep green or a blue works well with brick. Black and gold, found on the cables, brass and ceiling roses of some pieces, underline terracotta without competing with it.

Is terracotta in fashion?

It comes back regularly in contemporary interiors because it brings a warmth that grey and white alone do not give. In this collection, brick red and burnt orange sit alongside white, green and gold, which makes it easy to bring in without redoing the whole room.

Which curtain colour with a terracotta wall?

An ecru, sand, linen or olive green curtain sits alongside a terracotta wall without competing with it. It is better to avoid a very bright tone, which crushes the brick. In a dark room, a light curtain lets the light through, and the terracotta light warms it in the evening.

Which terracotta light should you choose for a kitchen?

A pendant hung above the worktop or the table works well: the kitchen is one of the rooms listed for half the models in the collection. Check the fitting, E27, G9 or LED, and prefer an LED module or a bulb that is easy to replace in a heavily used room.

Can you install a terracotta light in a bathroom?

Only if the protection rating allows it: IP20 models are made for dry rooms. One pendant in the collection is IP44 and a cylindrical outdoor wall light in aluminium is IP65, near a water point or outdoors. Check the rating before fixing.
