Nordlux is a Danish lighting company whose fixtures combine clean lines, metal and glass with modern technology. To choose from the range, start with the room you want to light, then check the bulb socket, IP rating and dimensions on the product page before you buy.
Who is Nordlux, the Danish lighting brand?
Nordlux is a Danish lighting company whose group also includes the brands Design For The People and Energetic. The brand combines the Danish design tradition with modern technology, using materials such as metal, glass and ceramic, and an accessible positioning designed to equip a whole room without choosing between looks and budget.
Nordlux, Design For The People, Energetic: three signatures in one group
These three names live under one Danish roof. Searching for Nordlux lighting, you will therefore come across both a wall light signed Nordlux and a model stamped Design For The People, drawn in the same Nordic vein. At Designix, the selection is limited to Nordlux references, which makes things simpler: one vocabulary of shapes, sockets and finishes from one product page to the next.
What the Designix selection keeps from the range
The range we carry covers quality Scandinavian lighting: wall lights for hallways and living rooms, a floor lamp for the lounge, an outdoor fixture for the facade. Metal and glass dominate, black and white form the base. To browse the Designix lighting range, filters by room and by socket save more time than a search by name.
Nordlux lamp: how do you recognise a Nordic lamp?
A Nordlux lamp is recognisable by its clean lines and understated tones: black, white, gold or brown depending on the model. Metal dominates, often combined with plastic, sometimes with glass, ceramic or aluminium. Shapes stay round, tubular or domed, so they blend into an interior without weighing it down.
Nordic, minimalist, contemporary, modern: four styles
Across all the lighting collections, these four styles stand out at a glance. The softer Nordic look shows on the oval Belir wall light and on the Lønstrup outdoor fixture in glass and metal. The minimalist style gets straight to the point, like the adjustable Cody tube. The contemporary style plays on sharp contrasts with the Aslak adjustable wall light. The modern style focuses on glass and brass, like the Contina with articulated arm.
The colours that are easiest to match
Black and white form the base: they work on a painted wall, panelling or brick without clashing. Gold acts as an accent, on the Chisell wall light with blown glass sphere or on the Cavara IP44 LED wall light, and warms up a dark hallway. Brown, more enveloping, finds its place near a wooden piece of furniture, like the Bruna Bear in brown glass. Green remains a discreet touch.
Which Nordlux fixture should you choose for each room?
The living room, bedroom, hallway, staircase and entrance are the rooms where the selection fits best. In passageways, go for directed or adjustable light; in the living room and bedroom, soft, spread light. The bathroom and outdoors require a suitable IP rating, IP44 in practice.
| Room | What you are looking for | IP rating | Recommended format | Examples from the selection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Living room | settled light, little glare | IP20 | wall light or floor lamp | Dial, Aslak, Sivara |
| Bedroom | soft light, adjustable for reading | IP20 | adjustable wall light or shade | Belir, Contina, Clyde |
| Hallway and staircase | guide the eye, mark the steps | IP20 | adjustable wall light or tube | Cody, Eik, Cyclone |
| Entrance | first light, welcome | IP20 | round or dome wall light | Aslak, Cyclone Flex, Bramwell |
| Bathroom | damp area | IP44 | LED wall light | Cavara |
| Outdoors | exposed facade or terrace | IP44 | outdoor fixture in glass and metal | Lønstrup |
Living room and bedroom: settled light
In these two rooms, the aim is to avoid direct glare. An arched-arm floor lamp solves the problem: the Dial floor lamp with arched arm stands 150 cm tall, with an E27 socket limited to 10 W per bulb, and places the light above a sofa or armchair rather than in your eyes. A warm white, generally between 2700 and 3500 K, suits rest; a neutral white lights a reading corner better.
Hallway, staircase, entrance: guiding without glare
In a passageway, light is directed. An adjustable GU10 wall light, like the Aslak adjustable wall light (10.5 cm high, 18.5 cm deep), can be aimed at the step or at the wall. The Eik wall light with exposed cable does the same job with a deliberately visible cord. For an entrance, a wider dome wall light, like the black Cyclone Flex, gives a clear point of light right at the door.
Nordlux wall light: how do you choose your model?
A Nordlux wall light is chosen on four criteria: socket, IP rating, direction and size. Adjustable GU10 models suit passageways, while E14 or G9 shades spread a softer light. The format is read in height, width and depth on the product page, never from the photo.
Adjustable, articulated arm or shade: three different uses
An adjustable model sends light where you want it: the Bramwell wall light in black ceramic measures 11.5 cm high and 13.5 cm deep, useful above a worktop or a bedside table. An articulated arm lights further away: the Contina extends 73.6 cm deep, best kept for a large wall. A shade, like the Sivara with conical shade (25 cm diameter), lights more widely and suits a living room.
Nordlux outdoor wall light: what the IP44 rating changes
An IP44 rating means the fixture is protected against water spray and moisture: it can stay outside or in a bathroom. The Lønstrup outdoor fixture carries this rating in glass and metal, with an E27 socket up to 60 W per bulb. The Cavara IP44 LED wall light is made for the bathroom. An IP20 model, on the other hand, stays in a dry interior: hallway, bedroom, living room, entrance. For the full lighting range, filter on this rating first.
Which socket and bulb should you plan for with a Nordlux fixture?
The Nordlux selection mainly uses E14, GU10, E27 and G9 sockets, alongside models with an integrated LED module. Each socket corresponds to a bulb type and a maximum wattage stated on the product page. So choose the bulb after the fixture, never before, or you may end up buying a whole batch again.
| Socket | Bulb type | Light produced | Max wattage stated | Models in the selection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| E14 | small screw cap | soft, behind a shade or glass | 15 W to 25 W depending on model | Bruna Bear, Chisell, Cyclone, Cyclone Flex |
| GU10 | pin cap | directed, adjustable | 5 W to 35 W depending on model | Aslak, Bramwell, Cody, Eik |
| E27 | large screw cap | spread, floor lamp or glass | 10 W to 60 W depending on model | Dial, Lønstrup, Sivara |
| G9 | small pin cap | soft, small glass globe | 5 W max depending on model | Belir, Contina |
| Integrated LED | non-replaceable module | fixed, low consumption | 4 W to 11.5 W depending on model | Cavara, Clyde, Curtiz |
E14, E27, GU10, G9: the socket to check before buying
E14 is a small screw thread, for low wattages behind a shade. E27 is the large thread, the one used on floor lamps and larger volumes. GU10 and G9 fit with pins: the first for directed light, the second for a small diffuse globe. Find this marker on the product page, then adjust the light temperature, warm white for the evening, neutral white for working.
Integrated LED module or bulb you replace yourself?
An integrated module, on the black Clyde wall light (4 W) or the white Curtiz wall light (11.5 W), cannot be replaced: the fixture arrives complete, with a fixed warm white light. A classic socket lets you choose the bulb and the intensity, which means you can change the mood later. The two-year warranty covers almost the entire selection. For our fixtures by room, this criterion often separates two very similar models.
Pendant, wall light, floor lamp: which format for which use?
Looking for a Nordlux pendant? The suspended format lights from above, over a table or a worktop, and is chosen on its socket and its hanging height. In this selection, the available formats are the wall light, the floor lamp and the outdoor fixture, each with a very different footprint.
What sets a pendant apart from a wall light or a ceiling light
A pendant hangs from the ceiling and concentrates light downwards: it is used above a dining table or a kitchen island. A wall light fixes to the wall, takes up little space and frees the floor: it is the format for hallways and staircases. A ceiling light spreads light widely from the ceiling. A floor lamp, meanwhile, moves around: the Dial sits beside a sofa. To compare these formats, browse the lighting section.
Height and distance: the markers to check before drilling
Before drilling, check three things on the product page: the height of the fixture, its depth and whether a dimmer is supported. A wall light 42 cm high, like the Cody, does not go in the same place as an 11 cm spot. A Contina 73.6 cm deep needs a clear wall. As a rule, a pendant hangs about 75 to 85 cm above a dining table, but use decides, not the measurement.
How do you find a specific Nordlux model in the range?
If you have a reference in mind such as Luxembourg, Aludra or Grant, start again from the collection filters: fixture type, room, material, colour and socket. These criteria narrow the selection faster than a search by name. The product page then gives the real dimensions, the IP rating and the maximum wattage.
Luxembourg, Aludra, Grant: what the collection filters really tell you
Searching by name assumes you know the exact spelling of the series. Going through the filters avoids that step: you first pick a room, then a socket, then a colour. A hallway idea in adjustable GU10, then a need for gold, and only a few product pages are left to read. It is the shortest method in the Designix lighting collections.
Compare two models on the product page rather than in the photo
Two wall lights can look alike in a photo and differ in everything else. The product page states the material (ceramic on the Bramwell, glass on the Chisell), the socket, the available colour, the IP rating and dimmer compatibility. That is where the decision is made: a wall light in warm white and one in neutral white do not give the same room.
Why choose Nordlux at Designix?
At Designix, the Nordlux range comes with straightforward support: secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and customer service. The selection covers quality Scandinavian lighting at competitive prices, with a two-year warranty on almost every model.
What Designix adds to the brand
The collection has 568 fixtures, from floor lamps to outdoor fixtures and wall lights, with E27, E14, GU10, G9 and LED sockets, in both IP20 and IP44. Payment is secure, delivery is tracked, and returns remain possible if the format does not suit your wall. Customer service answers the questions that hold things up: socket compatibility, the measurement of a wall light, choosing between IP20 and IP44. All questions better settled before the order than after installation.
The questions to ask before confirming a fixture
Five points are enough: the room and its moisture, the IP rating, the socket, the dimensions on the wall, and whether the intensity can be varied. An outdoor or bathroom fixture needs IP44, IP20 is enough for a bedroom. Finally, check that the bulb you choose supports the dimmer, otherwise the setting may flicker. To finish the tour, browsing fixtures by use remains the fastest route.
Frequently asked questions about Nordlux lighting
What does the Nordlux brand mean?
Nordlux is a Danish lighting company. Its group also includes the brands Design For The People and Energetic. The brand combines the Danish design tradition with modern technology and offers quality Scandinavian lighting at competitive prices, available as wall lights, floor lamps and outdoor fixtures.
Which bulb should go in a Nordlux lamp?
It depends on the socket stated on the product page. The selection mainly uses E14, GU10, E27 and G9 sockets, as well as integrated LED modules. Check the socket and the maximum wattage before buying the bulb, then choose the light temperature according to the mood you want.
Can a Nordlux wall light be installed outdoors?
A fixture intended for outdoors must carry an IP44 rating, like the Lønstrup outdoor fixture in glass and metal. The IP20 models in the selection are meant for indoors. The IP rating appears on every product page: it tells you whether the model withstands moisture or water spray.
Can a Nordlux wall light be installed in a bathroom?
Yes, provided you choose a model suited to moisture. The Cavara LED wall light is IP44 and suits the bathroom, with warm white or neutral white light. IP20 models remain reserved for dry rooms such as the hallway, bedroom, living room or entrance.
Is dimming possible on Nordlux fixtures?
Some models in the selection support a dimmer, others do not: the information is given on the product page. Also check that the bulb you choose is dimmer-compatible, otherwise the setting may hum or flicker. Dimming remains useful in the living room, the bedroom and a hallway.
The choice therefore comes down to three lines on the product page: socket, IP rating, dimensions. An adjustable GU10 wall light for a staircase, an IP44 wall light for the bathroom, a floor lamp for the living room, and the whole thing holds together. Browsing the Designix lighting range shows you the models available today, filters included.
