Start by measuring the area to be lit: a linear LED bar above the countertop or a central island, a round, square or oval model when the kitchen is compact. All the lights in this selection are ceiling-mounted and run on LED, in aluminium, metal, glass or acrylic, with warm white, neutral white or cool white light depending on the model.
Which type of kitchen LED ceiling light is right for a kitchen?
In a kitchen, a linear LED bar lights the countertop without casting shadows, while a central round or square model suits a more compact room. The tubular format sits above an island or a run of units, without dropping into the space.
Modern kitchen ceiling light: round, square or linear?
The PINNE 90 linear ceiling light measures 90 cm long: mounted flush with the ceiling, it stays out of your line of sight and lights a whole run of units in one stroke. A round or oval model of 35 to 55 cm takes over in the centre of a square room. These two families make up our selection of kitchen LED ceiling lights.
Modern LED ceiling lights: what sets a kitchen model apart
A kitchen ceiling light is recognisable by its shallow height and its downward-directed light. The aluminium PINNE bars, the metal and acrylic oval, the cube of the small Zephyr Sky cube ceiling light all follow this logic. Our modern LED ceiling lights bring these formats together, with the Designix lighting range as a backdrop.
How to choose the size and wattage for your kitchen?
Length is chosen according to the area to be lit: a short bar suits a countertop, a long bar suits a large island or a run of units. The stated wattage ranges from 16 to 50 W depending on the PINNE models, the longest being the most powerful.
Modern LED kitchen ceiling light: what length above the countertop?
The longer the bar, the more surface it covers: 67 cm for a short counter, 90 or 118 cm for a standard kitchen, 150 and 200 cm for a generous island. Mounting height depends on the ceiling height and the clearance to keep. A flat ceiling light does not replace a pendant, it sits higher and stays out of the way.
Kitchen LED ceiling lights: small or large format?
The small format, from 12 to 24 cm, is enough in a small kitchen, a hallway or a passage. Hallway ceiling lights follow the same rules of compactness. The large model, round or oval up to 55 cm, lights a whole room and becomes visible: it is chosen as much for its design as for the surface it covers.
| Area to be lit | Suitable format | Example in the collection | What it brings |
|---|---|---|---|
| Countertop or run of units | Linear aluminium LED bar | PINNE 67, 90 and 118 ceiling lights | Continuous light without shadows, in 3000 K or 4000 K |
| Large central island | Long LED bar | PINNE 150 and 200 ceiling lights | Covers the full length of the island |
| Small kitchen or hallway | Cube or surface-mounted spot from 12 to 24 cm | Small Zephyr Sky ceiling light | Compact format, warm white or cool white |
| Centre of the room | Round or oval from 35 to 55 cm | Halo Sculpt oval ceiling light | Soft general lighting, in metal, acrylic or copper |
| Kitchen open to the living room | Large decorative format | Scintilla Sky round gold ceiling light | Becomes a visual feature, with dimmer |
| Area near the sink | Glass and IP44 protection rating | KUUL C IP44 ceiling light | Takes an E27 bulb and resists water splashes |
Which light for cooking: warm white, neutral white or cool white?
Neutral white, from 3500 to 4500 K, renders colours better above the countertop. Warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, warms the dining corner and kitchens open to the living room. Cool white, from 4500 to 6500 K, remains a minority in the collection.
Modern LED kitchen ceiling light in 4000 K for the countertop
At 4000 K, the PINNE 200 LED 4000K bar lights without yellowing food or feeling harsh. It is the setting that suits meal preparation, when you are chopping, weighing, reading a label. The 3000 K versions exist in the same lengths, to be preferred if a warm mood matters more than precision.
Warm white for a kitchen open to the dining room
An open room calls for a single mood in the evening: warm white 3000 K extends that of the living room and avoids a break between the two areas. The small Zephyr Sky ceiling light comes in warm white as well as cool white, which lets you match several light points. Dimmable LED ceiling lights let you lower the intensity without changing the tone.
What are the trending lights for the kitchen?
The most common models are minimalist and modern: slim aluminium LED bars, round, oval or square ceiling lights, in white or black, sometimes gold. Glass and acrylic diffuse a soft light, metal structures the silhouette and ball shapes round off the whole.
The industrial style stays discreet but sharp, with exposed metal and glass, as in industrial style LED ceiling lights. Conversely, a slim aluminium ceiling light blends into the ceiling. To make more of a statement, designer LED ceiling lights and gold ceiling lights warm a neutral kitchen. Wood kitchen ceiling lights bring a softer note.
Where to install the ceiling light in the kitchen?
Three positions stand out: above the countertop or central island, in the centre of the ceiling for general lighting, and above the table when the kitchen opens onto the dining room. A flat model frees the passage and avoids visual obstruction.
Kitchen ceiling light with a central island: where to place it?
Centre the bar along the length of the island, in line with the unit: the light then falls flat on the surface and not into your back. A 150 or 200 cm bar suits a generous island, a 90 cm bar is enough over a short island. Recessed LED ceiling lights are suitable when you want to erase the light entirely.
Lighting the countertop without shadows
A wide, flat source casts less shadow than a single point: your silhouette no longer falls across the chopping board. Stay close to the ceiling above a passage, and keep the light out of your line of sight when standing. White models blend into the ceiling and reinforce this discretion.
Integrated LED, GX53, E27, G9 or GU10: how to choose?
Most models in the collection run on integrated LED: the source is fixed and nothing needs changing. The others take a bulb with a GX53, E27, G9 or GU10 base, which lets you replace the source or change the light colour.
LED ceiling light or bulb ceiling light?
Integrated LED simplifies maintenance and keeps a shallow depth, very useful under a low ceiling. A replaceable socket leaves the choice of wattage and temperature, and lets you change a bulb without taking down the light. The KUUL C IP44 ceiling light shows the value of the second case, with its E27 bulb in a glass volume.
Which base for a kitchen ceiling light?
GU10, adjustable, is suitable when you want to direct the beam towards the countertop, as on the Elra decorative ceiling light. G9 slips into shallow lights, GX53 stays flat, E27 takes standard bulbs. One kitchen can combine an integrated LED bar and a socket point.
| Solution | Type of source | What it changes | Example in the collection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Integrated LED | Fixed source, not replaceable | Nothing to change day to day | PINNE, Halo Sculpt, Scintilla Sky bars |
| GX53 | Flat bulb to replace | Reduced bulk under the ceiling | Compact models in the collection |
| E27 | Screw bulb | Choice of wattage and colour | KUUL C and KUUL C IP44 |
| GU10 | Adjustable pin bulb | Beam directed towards the countertop | Elra decorative ceiling light |
| G9 | Small pin bulb | Reduced format for shallow lights | Compact models in the collection |
How to integrate a ceiling light into a modern kitchen decor?
First choose the colour of the ceiling light to echo the cabinet fronts: white on light units, black on a dark counter, gold to warm a neutral room. The shape follows, a tube above a long countertop, round or oval in the centre of the room.
White or black LED ceiling lights: which harmony?
White disappears into the ceiling and lets the kitchen speak: it is the safe choice in a light room. Black draws a sharp line and frames the room, useful when the countertop is dark. Black ceiling lights and modern black ceiling lights cover this second register.
Matching ceiling light and splashback in a modern kitchen
A glass or light tiled splashback supports a gold or copper light, which brings a warm contrast without overloading. On a dark splashback, a white or aluminium ceiling light keeps the room legible. For a total harmony, modern white ceiling lights line up with lacquered fronts. The 2 or 5 year warranty stated depending on the model completes the choice.
Modern chandelier, pendant or ceiling light: what to choose for a kitchen?
A ceiling light stays against the ceiling and suits rooms where people move around, including above a countertop. A chandelier or pendant drops into the space and is reserved for clear areas, such as above a table. In an open kitchen, the two can coexist.
Modern chandelier or ceiling light: which to choose for a kitchen?
The modern kitchen chandelier and the Italian design kitchen pendant mark the dining corner, provided you keep a comfortable clearance under the light. Above a countertop, this drop gets in the way: a flush model is better. Modern living room ceiling lights follow the same logic of mood.
Italian design kitchen pendant or linear ceiling light?
Over a table, a single pendant creates a focal point and is adjusted in height above the surface. Over a run of units, the LED bar covers a length that no pendant can match without multiplying the points. The modern living room chandelier follows the same rule: it is reserved for clear areas, not passages.
How to install and maintain a kitchen ceiling light?
Installation is done with the power off, on a support firmly fixed to the ceiling; if the light exceeds what the existing installation can bear, an electrician steps in. Maintenance is limited to a soft cloth on aluminium and metal, a non-abrasive product on glass and acrylic.
Replacing the bulb of an E27 or GU10 ceiling light
Switch off the breaker, let the source cool, then unscrew the E27 bulb or remove the GU10 or G9 pin bulb from its socket. Fit a bulb of the same base. Integrated LED models, the majority here, are not replaceable: it is the light that is changed in the event of a fault.
Cleaning an aluminium or glass ceiling light
Aluminium and metal are dusted dry, without abrasive product, so as not to mark the finish. Glass and acrylic are cleaned with a mild product, never with a rough cloth that dulls the diffusion. Always cut the power before working. Bathroom lighting additionally requires an IP44 rating when the area receives splashes.
What is the difference between a modern kitchen chandelier and a ceiling light?
A ceiling light is fixed against the ceiling: it lights the room and does not obstruct movement. A chandelier or pendant drops into the space, above a table or a clear island. In this collection, ceiling lights dominate, in round, square, oval or tube shapes.
Which colour temperature to choose for a kitchen?
Neutral white, from 3500 to 4500 K, is suitable above the countertop because it renders food colours better. Warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, is reserved for the dining corner and kitchens open to the living room. Cool white, from 4500 to 6500 K, remains a minority.
Is an IP44 ceiling light necessary in a kitchen?
Not everywhere. The IP20 rating covers most models and is enough in a dry room. IP44 concerns locations exposed to water splashes, such as the area near the sink. The KUUL C IP44 ceiling light is the model intended for this case.
Can you combine a modern living room chandelier and a ceiling light in an open kitchen?
Yes. The ceiling light provides general lighting on the countertop side, while a chandelier or pendant marks the dining corner. The logic of a modern living room chandelier then applies above the table, provided you keep a comfortable clearance under the light.
How to replace the bulb of an E27, GU10 or G9 ceiling light?
Switch off the breaker, let the source cool, then unscrew the E27 bulb or remove the GU10 or G9 pin bulb from its socket. Fit a bulb of the same base. Integrated LED models, the majority in the collection, are not replaceable.
Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service accompany every order: you choose the format and the light temperature, we follow the journey through to installation. For a long countertop, the PINNE 200 LED bar in warm white remains the simplest starting point, in 3000 K as in 4000 K.
