To choose a Luce Design lighting fixture, start with the room and the light you want, then check three things: the bulb base, the material and the IP rating. The Italian brand works mainly with metal, aluminium, ceramic and glass, and its range distributed by Designix is organised by family: pendants, wall lights, ceiling lights, table lamps, floor lamps and a few chandeliers.

Who is Luce Design and what is in the range?
Luce Design is an Italian brand of decorative lighting. At Designix, its range is mostly pendants, along with wall lights, ceiling lights, table lamps, floor lamps and a few chandeliers, made in metal, aluminium, glass or ceramic, with white, black, brown or gold finishes. The positioning corresponds to a mid-range price bracket.
The Luce Design catalogue available at Designix
Pendants remain the most represented family, which follows their use: they hang down into the room and direct light where you eat or work. Wall lights take over in hallways, entrances and headboards, while ceiling lights equip rooms with no ceiling clearance. Table lamps and floor lamps provide extra light near a sofa, a desk or a bed. You can browse lighting by family to compare these uses side by side.
Metal, aluminium, glass, ceramic: the materials in the range
Metal leads the materials, ahead of ceramic and aluminium, with glass on a smaller share of models. Metal gives clean lines and a strong presence, visible on the Amarcord rust wall light. Aluminium lightens small formats, ceramic offers a matte surface close to plaster and glass diffuses a softer light.
Which Luce Design lighting ranges for which room?
The right model depends on the available height and the light you want. A pendant dresses a living room or dining room, a ceiling light illuminates a room with no ceiling clearance, a wall light frees up the floor, a table lamp or floor lamp provides extra light near a sofa or a bed.
| Type of light | Room or use | What the light provides | What to check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pendant | Living room, dining room, kitchen | Light directed above a table or worktop | The drop height and the weight of the fixture |
| Wall light | Entrance, hallway, bedroom, WC | Lights without taking up floor or furniture space | The bulb base, material and dimensions |
| Ceiling light | Rooms with no ceiling clearance | General light distributed throughout the room | The room size and the bulb base |
| Table lamp | Bedside, console, desk | Extra light near a specific use | The desired light temperature |
| Floor lamp | Living room, reading corner | Ambient and reading light | The floor space available |
| Chandelier | Large living room, high room | Central light with a decorative role | The ceiling height and the number of light points |
Pendant, ceiling light or wall light: which light for which room?
A pendant concentrates light downwards: ideal above a table or worktop, less suited to a circulation area. A ceiling light spreads light throughout the room, which suits a hallway or a bedroom. A wall light illuminates from the wall, without extra furniture. To place these three families within the whole offer, see all lighting is the quickest way.
Living room, kitchen, bedroom, entrance: where to place each lighting family
In the living room, a pendant or chandelier holds the centre, complemented by a floor lamp near the sofa. In the kitchen, the pendant above the island lights the work area. In the bedroom, a wall light or table lamp is enough for reading. In a narrow entrance, the wall light avoids cluttering the passage. The entire Designix lighting catalogue can be browsed in this order, by family and by use.
How to choose a design pendant for a kitchen or dining room?
Above a table or worktop, a pendant gives directed light on the use area. Luce Design pendants are chosen by drop height, model size, finish colour and bulb base, which sets the maximum wattage the fixture accepts.
At what height should a pendant hang above the dining table?
The principle is simple: the bottom of the fixture should stay above the eye level of seated people, generally around 70 to 80 cm above the table surface depending on the size of the guests, to be adjusted with the ceiling height. The fixing point and the cable length of the model determine the available drop: an adjustable length is better than a cable cut too short.
Single pendant, aligned or cluster: what effect?
A single pendant suits a small table; two or three aligned models create a rhythm above an island, and a cluster fills a large vertical void. This choice is made based on the actual space above the furniture and the weight the ceiling accepts. To broaden the comparison, the complete lighting collection groups these formats.
How to choose a Luce Design wall light?
A wall light replaces a floor lamp, lights a hallway or frames a headboard. Metal wall lights with E27 bases like Amarcord and Axon light widely, ceramic models Astron and Banjie stay discreet, LED wall lights in aluminium Boing and Book diffuse a fixed light, warm or neutral.
E27 metal wall lights: Amarcord and Axon
Amarcord is a metal wall light with an E27 base, limited to 60 W, rated IP20, in a format 45 cm wide by 50 cm deep and 46 cm high, in rust brown finish. Axon, more compact at 5 cm wide, 16 cm deep and 17 cm high, combines black and gold and accepts a dimmer. See the Axon black and gold wall light, dimmer compatible for adjustable lighting in the living room.
Astron, Banjie, Boing and Book: ceramic, plaster and LED
Astron is a white ceramic wall light with a G9 base, limited to 28 W, in a compact format. Banjie, also in matte white ceramic, uses a GU10 base limited to 35 W and comes in several heights, including 16 and 24 cm. Boing and Book use aluminium with integrated LED: 5 W in neutral white for the first, 17 W in warm white for the second. Here is the Banjie white ceramic wall light for an entrance.
Which materials, colours and bulbs for a design light?
Metal dominates the range, ahead of ceramic and aluminium, with glass still present on some models. Finishes range from white to black, with brown, gold and silver. On the light side, there is warm white, neutral white and integrated LED on some references.
| Base | Models concerned | Indicated maximum wattage | Possible bulb |
|---|---|---|---|
| E27 | Amarcord and Axon metal wall lights | 60 W max | Screw bulb, halogen or LED |
| GU10 | Banjie ceramic wall lights | 35 W max | Pin bulb, halogen or LED |
| G9 | Astron ceramic wall light | 28 W max | Small pin bulb |
| E14 | Present on part of the range | Depending on the model | Small screw base |
| Integrated LED | Boing and Book aluminium wall lights | 5 W and 17 W | No bulb to change |
Warm white or neutral white: what effect in a living room?
Generally, a light of 2700 to 3500 K, called warm white, leans yellow and relaxes a living space. Between 3500 and 4500 K, neutral white makes colours look truer and is better suited to reading or working. In a living room, warm white remains the most common; in an office or kitchen, neutral helps you see what you are doing. These guidelines apply to any source, including Nova Luce lighting.
E27, E14, GU10 or G9 base: design halogen or LED bulb?
E27, E14, GU10 and G9 sockets accept a replaceable bulb. A fixture suited to a design halogen bulb remains so, but LED uses less and heats less for a similar result. A model with integrated LED, like Boing or Book, cannot be replaced: the source is fixed at the factory, which avoids buying a bulb but means checking the stated temperature. Fabas Luce lighting follows the same logic of sockets.
Where to install an IP20 light and how to care for it?
The lights in this collection are rated IP20: they are intended for dry indoor rooms, with no protection against water splashes. So avoid damp areas and outdoors. Care is done dry or with a soft slightly damp cloth, never with an abrasive product.
Bathroom, outdoor: can an IP20 light go there?
No for use in a damp area or outside. The IP20 rating protects against finger contact and ordinary dust, not water. For a bathroom, look for a higher IP rating, suited to splashes. The brand also offers outdoor lights, but they are chosen on this specific rating. For a complete project, compare the families available in our selection of lighting.
Cleaning metal, aluminium, ceramic and glass
Metal is cleaned with a soft cloth, without abrasive that scratches the finish. Aluminium tolerates a slightly damp cloth. White ceramic is dusted dry, without aggressive product. Glass is cleaned with a non-abrasive glass cleaner, with the power off. Electrical connection is always done with the power off, and if in doubt about a connection, it is better to entrust installation to a professional.
Where to place a design light depending on the room?
In a living room, a chandelier or central pendant structures the space, complemented by a wall light or floor lamp near the sofa. In a bedroom, table lamps and bedside wall lights light reading. In a WC or hallway, a compact wall light is enough.
Design living room chandelier: how to choose it?
A chandelier is chosen by ceiling height, the area to light and the number of light points. The Luce Design range has a few: they are reserved for high rooms, where they play a decorative as well as lighting role. In a low room, a discreet pendant or ceiling light fulfils the same function without hindering circulation. All lighting families can be compared on this height criterion.
Italian design bedside lamp and wall light for design WC: what differences?
For reading in bed, a neutral white around 3500 to 4500 K tires the eye less; for a pre-sleep atmosphere, a warm white around 2700 to 3500 K is better. A WC wall light mainly requires a compact format and high installation, on a dry wall. A table lamp, on the other hand, can be moved and adjusted: the lighting range groups them by use.
