To light a room, start with the socket: a grey wall light with an E27 socket that accepts a bulb up to 40 W really lights, an 8 W G9 model remains an accent light. This collection brings together grey wall lights in metal, steel, glass, aluminium and velvet, in round shapes, balls, globes, tubes and arcs, for the living room, bedroom, hallway, staircase and entryway.
Which wall light for good lighting?
To really light, choose an E27 socket accepting a bulb up to 40 W, like Cilina, Onixa or Ariveseta: the light becomes main and not decorative. For accent lighting or a narrow wall, an 8 W G9 socket is enough, as on Ondlinena, Savina or Ubalda. The rest depends on the material: a wide shade spreads the light, a white diffuser concentrates it.
Powerful LED wall light: which socket for main lighting?
The E27 socket opens the door to high-intensity LED bulbs: Cendrosa, Arcora or Textella take a bulb up to 40 W and replace a ceiling light on a wall section. The G9 socket remains an accent, with its white sphere and discreet halo. Compare all wall lights by socket before deciding. For a hallway or staircase, a grey wall light with motion sensor turns on the light as you pass: look for an E27 model with built-in sensor.
Which bulbs to put in a grey wall light?
In warm white, around 2700 to 3500 K, the light remains enveloping in the evening. In cool white, around 4500 to 6500 K, it becomes more direct, useful in an entryway or staircase. The grey of the fixture does not change the rendering, the bulb decides. Some models accept a dimmer, like Cendrosa or Ondine.
| Model | Material | Socket | Power | Protection | Recommended room |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cilina | Metal | E27 | 15 W | IP20 | Hallway, staircase, bedroom |
| Cendrosa | Steel and velvet | E27 | 40 W max | IP20 | Living room, bedroom, office |
| Ondlinena | Metal | G9 | 8 W | IP20 | Hallway, staircase, living room |
| Savina | Metal | G9 | 8 W | IP20 | Hallway, staircase, entryway |
| Murina | Aluminium | E27 | 60 W | IP54 | Outdoor, terrace |
| Ondine | Aluminium and glass | LED | 7 to 16 W | IP20 | Bathroom, mirror |
What are the standards for wall lights in the bathroom?
Near a water point, a protected fixture is better: this selection mostly includes IP20 wall lights reserved for dry rooms and a few IP54 models, like Murina, suitable for wet rooms. Outside the splash zone, IP20 is fine. In contact with the shower or bathtub, choose IP54.
Waterproof outdoor wall light: IP54 or IP20?
The protection rating indicates resistance to water and dust, not the quality of light. An IP54 like Murina, in aluminium and E27 socket, can be placed on a terrace or near an entryway. An IP20 does not go outside. In dry interiors, indoor wall lights are enough.
Where to place a grey wall light in the bathroom?
On either side of a mirror, at face height, or above a vanity unit. The linear model Ondine, in several lengths, follows a long wall and works in warm white as well as cool white. Find other wall lights for wet rooms. No velvet or linen in this room: these materials fear humidity.
Living room wall light: which wall light to properly light a living room?
In a living room, the grey wall light serves as ambient or reading light: an E27 model up to 40 W like Cendrosa or Textella lights a large wall, two 8 W G9 models like Xalvario or Livorno are enough on either side of a sofa. Warm white is the most suitable.
Modern living room wall light: which style to choose?
Modern is about a simple line and a single colour: ball and globe shapes in metal blend into a light wall. Browse the modern design wall lights to mix shapes and finishes. An articulated arm, as on Arcora, directs the beam towards an armchair without lighting the whole living area.
Powerful living room wall light: 40 W or 8 W LED?
It all depends on the area to cover. A large living room wall behind the sofa requires an E27 up to 40 W with a wide shade: Textella and its generous shade, or Cendrosa and its directional light. On a secondary wall, two 8 W G9 are enough. Also see the living room wall lighting and the wall lights for the living area.
Grey wall light for the bedroom: which light in the evening?
In a bedroom, grey wall lights serve as accent lighting in warm white, around 2700 to 3500 K, with an 8 W G9 socket like Viviana or Kalranilo, or an E27 with dimmer like Cendrosa or Cendre. The dimmer allows lowering the intensity in the evening.
Warm white or cool white in a bedroom?
Warm white, between 2700 and 3500 K, prepares for rest and does not harden features. Cool white is reserved for passage rooms. In the bedroom, aim for a white diffuser or a round shade, which further softens the source. The bedside wall lamp models in the selection are mostly in warm white.
Two wall lights on either side of the bed: which format?
At 50 or 60 cm from the mattress, a small 10 cm model like Ubalda or Savina frees the nightstand. On a large wall, the bedside wall lighting can go up in size, with a long arm like Ariveseta's. Two separate light points are better than a single central point.
Staircase and hallway wall light: how to light circulation?
In a staircase or hallway, you want regular, non-glaring light: diffuser wall lights like Ondlinena, Ubalda or Kalranilo give continuous lighting, and long or linear models, like Ondine, follow a narrow wall. Align them on the line of the steps.
Staircase wall light: at what height and spacing to place them?
Align the centre of the fixtures on a continuous line, generally at hand height above the step nosing, and keep regular spacing from one flight to the next. A small 10 cm format like Ondlinena fits without cluttering the handrail. Other models for staircase lighting range from 10 cm format to linear.
Hallway: white diffuser or cylindrical shade?
The white diffuser avoids glare when walking along the wall. The cylindrical shade directs light down to the floor and marks the decor more. In a narrow hallway, prefer a shallow model, in 8 W G9: browse the hallways and passageways to compare depths.
Original wall light, boho chic or country chic: which style to choose?
An original wall light is recognisable by its shape: ball, globe, arc or tube. For a boho chic interior, velvet and linen like Ariveseta, Onixa and Textella bring texture, while a country chic wall light requires a discreet grey, a simple line and a fabric shade.
Which materials for a boho chic wall light?
Velvet, linen, opal glass and brushed metal make up the register. The grey velvet of Cendrosa and Onixa captures light and makes it warm, whereas the glass of glass diffusers diffuses it more clearly. Ball, globe and open sphere shapes remain the basis of the style.
How to integrate a country chic wall light into an interior?
Stay sober: a discreet grey, a fabric shade, brushed steel, a straightforward line. The material softens the lighting without falling into pastel. The metal models match wood, linen and natural tones of the room.
| Shape | Frequent material | Effect in the room | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Round | Metal | soft and regular light | Viviana |
| Ball | Glass and metal | graphic volume, diffuse halo | Savina |
| Globe | Metal and glass | strong presence on a wide wall | Murina |
| Tube | Aluminium and glass | continuous lighting along the wall | Ondine |
| Arc | Steel and velvet | dressed line above a piece of furniture | Cendre |
Design toilet wall light and toilet wall light: what to choose for a small space?
In toilets or a small hallway, a compact format avoids overloading the wall: 10 cm models with white diffuser like Ondlinena, Ubalda or Savina light without taking up space. On a wider wall, a 20 cm cylindrical shade like Cilina or Onixa brings a graphic presence.
Which format of wall light for a small wall?
Aim for a reduced diameter or height, around 10 cm, and an 8 W G9 socket that heats little in a closed volume. A Savina placed above a mirror is more than enough. Spherical shapes avoid sharp angles.
Grey metal or grey velvet in toilets?
Metal and steel clean with a wipe. Velvet requires gentle dusting and fears humidity. In a windowless toilet, a metal fixture is therefore better: the light versions to pair also brighten the small volume.
How to install and maintain a grey wall light?
Installation is that of a classic wall fixture: marking the height, drilling, fixing the bracket, connecting and fitting the diffuser. For maintenance, a soft cloth is enough on metal and steel, while velvet and linen are dusted with a soft attachment.
How to install a wall light on a wall?
Mark the location according to the arm or reach indicated, then cut the power at the circuit breaker. Drill, plug, fix the bracket, connect following the terminal markings, fit the diffuser and check stability. A long arm like Cendrosa's, 90 and 30 cm for a reach of 115 to 145 cm, requires a solid fixing point.
Cleaning a metal, glass or grey velvet wall light?
Metal, steel and aluminium: soft cloth, dry or very slightly damp. Glass: mild cleaner, never abrasive. Velvet and linen: dusting with a brush attachment, without wetting. Always cut the power before working. The steps are the same on all our light fixtures.
Your order ships with secure payment and tracked delivery. Returns are possible, and Designix customer service answers before and after purchase. For a first wall fixture, also look at the affordable models in the selection: they share the same sockets and materials as the rest of the catalogue.
Frequently asked questions about the grey wall light
Powerful LED wall light: which model to choose?
Look at the power and socket: the grey E27 models in the collection go up to 40 W and take a high-intensity LED bulb, like Cilina, Onixa and Ariveseta. The 8 W G9 models, like Savina or Ubalda, remain accent fixtures.
Waterproof outdoor wall light: what protection rating to require?
For outdoor use, the protection rating matters more than style: an IP54 model like Murina, in aluminium and E27 socket, resists water splashes and can be placed on a terrace or near an entryway. An IP20, standard indoors, is not suitable outside.
Anthracite grey or light grey wall light: what to choose?
Anthracite grey, darker, blends into a dark wall and shows marks less. Light grey brightens a coloured wall or a small space and stands out more. In the collection, both come in metal, steel and glass, depending on the desired effect.
Boho wall light: which shape to adopt?
Boho is about materials and shapes: the grey velvet of Ariveseta, Onixa or Cendrosa, the linen of Textella, and round, ball or globe shapes like Savina, Ubalda and Kalranilo. These soft volumes work well with a light wall and natural tones.
Grey wall lamp: how to match it with the rest of the room?
A grey wall lamp matches easily: it stays discreet on a wall of the same shade or contrasts with a white, beige or black wall. The socket then changes the use, E27 up to 40 W for generous lighting, G9 in 8 W for accent light.
