Choose the green according to the light you want to see: a tinted glass colours the room and is meant to be looked at, an opal globe diffuses it without a dazzling point. Plan for one green glass floor lamp per reading corner or sofa end, then check the socket on the product sheet before buying the bulb.

What kind of light does a green glass floor lamp give?

A green glass floor lamp colours the light instead of filtering it into white: the room receives a soft green halo, warmer than white light. Tinted glass lets the bulb show and plays with reflections; an opal globe diffuses an even light, with no dazzling point, more comfortable next to a sofa.

Green glass floor lamp: tinted light, never dazzling

With a tinted wall, the source stays visible and the light comes out coloured: nearby walls take on a green shade, the rest of the room keeps its atmosphere. That is the case with the Bela floor lamp, made of glass mounted in round discs, which casts reflections on the wall behind it. The light is lower and more enveloping than a ceiling light, which makes it an accent source rather than general lighting.

Tinted glass or opal globe, what difference day to day?

Tinted glass stands out: you see the lamp, its reflections, its transparency. The opal globe hides the bulb and gives an even light, with no hard glare, which avoids discomfort when you sit right next to it. The choice therefore depends on what you look at in the evening: the object, or the pool of light it casts on the wall.

Where to place a green glass floor lamp in the home?

Green glass floor lamps go mostly in a living room, at the end of a sofa or near an armchair, where you read. They also find their place in a bedroom, as accent lighting instead of a bedside lamp, and in an office, next to the desk. All are for indoor use only (IP20).

In the living room, at the end of the sofa or near an armchair

This is the room that hosts every model. Place the lamp behind the sofa or next to the reading armchair, within reach of the switch. A large globe marks the zone, a small format slips between two pieces of furniture without blocking the way. To widen the search to other materials, compare with the glass floor lamps for the living room.

In the bedroom and office, as accent lighting

In a bedroom, a small globe placed away from the bed gives low light, more restful than a ceiling light switched on full. In an office, place the source to the side to avoid reflection on the screen. Green models also appear in our selection of green models for the living room, useful if you want the same shade from one room to the next.

Glass or clay: which green floor lamp to choose?

Tinted glass suits you if you want a visible object, with reflections and a silhouette that reads in the room. Clay gives a matte finish and a solid surface, more discreet by day. Both carry the same green: the choice comes down to the material you want to see, not the colour.

Glass, transparent and covered in reflections

A glass wall lets light and tint through as it passes. The fixture becomes a decorative object in its own right, especially when switched off: you see the shape, the discs, the assembly. It needs a little more attention when cleaning, because the slightest mark shows under the light. The design glass family gathers this type of piece.

Clay, a matte surface that absorbs light

Clay stops part of the light and returns a softer glow, with no sharp reflection. The Velmilessa floor lamp combines a ribbed olive green clay base with an opal white globe: the green reads on the foot, the light stays white and even. A fabric shade, like the cotton of the Esterad Vert ball floor lamp, warms the light further and filters it downwards.

Which socket for a green glass floor lamp, G9 or E27?

The G9 socket equips the most compact models in the collection, with a short bulb that fits in a small globe. The E27 socket, found on the Esterad ball floor lamp, takes a wider bulb and up to 60 W. Check the socket on the product sheet before buying a replacement bulb.

G9, the compact LED models

On a small globe, space is short: G9 requires a short bulb, which explains its use on Velmilessa and Tesmilessa, listed at 9 W. It is a common LED format, easy to find as accent lighting. Plan for the bulb separately, it is not always included.

E27, the freedom to choose your bulb

The large screw socket opens up the choice of wattages and colour temperatures. On Esterad Vert, the limit is 60 W maximum: you can therefore adjust the light without changing the fixture. A useful guide: around 2,700 K for warm light in the evening, 3,000 K for a more neutral white in an office. To go further on this point, see the LED floor lamps for the living room.

Round or ball: which format of coloured glass floor lamp to choose?

The formats differ clearly: the Velmilessa globe measures Ø 120 mm for 188 mm high, the Tesmilessa Ø 285 mm for 110 mm, and the Esterad ball floor lamp Ø 34 cm for 100 cm high. A large diameter makes more of a mark in a small room, a small globe slips more easily next to an armchair.

The Ø 120 mm and Ø 285 mm globes

The small globe sits low, almost like an object on a piece of furniture, and suits narrow corners. The Ø 285 mm takes up more visual space: it structures a reading corner and can be seen from afar. The Tesmilessa floor lamp pairs this large flat disc with a white shade, which softens the light upwards.

The Ø 34 cm ball floor lamp, 100 cm high

One metre high, 34 cm in diameter: this format reads as a floor lamp in its own right, not as an accent lamp placed on the floor. It needs free space around it. The smoked glass floor lamps offer the same format logic if you are still unsure about the shade.

How to match a green floor lamp with the rest of the living room?

A green floor lamp matches neutral materials: light wood, ecru linen, gold or black metal. Avoid piling up several saturated greens in the same room; if you keep a green pendant light on the ceiling, choose a floor lamp in a darker or lighter green to create a readable gradient.

With a green glass pendant light

Keep one strong green per room. A light green pendant light supports an olive or deeper green floor lamp, and the reverse works too. Separate the two sources in the space so the eye does not compare two neighbouring shades. Our green design collection shows gradient ideas from lightest to densest.

With a glass ball wall light

Spread the heights: the wall light high on the wall, the floor lamp on the ground. A glass ball wall light picks up the floor lamp's vocabulary without repeating the green, which lightens the room. The metal of the fitting can echo the lamp's stem, in gold metal or with a black metal structure depending on the rest of the furniture.

With a neutral sofa and rug

A beige, grey or ecru sofa lets the green express itself without competition. If the floor is dark, an olive green blends in and loses its effect; a lighter green holds better. For a clear contrast, look at the black and white versions or the black wood, and keep green as a single touch.

How to install and care for a green glass floor lamp?

All models in the collection are rated IP20: they are installed indoors, on a standard power socket, never in a bathroom or outdoors. Assembly is limited to the base and the globe or shade. For cleaning, a soft microfibre cloth is enough on the glass.

Plugging in an IP20 model indoors

The IP20 rating means the fixture is protected against solid objects larger than 12 mm, but not against water. A bathroom, a damp conservatory or a covered terrace require a higher rating, which these models do not carry. Assembly is done with the fixture switched off and unplugged, base on the floor, then stem and globe screwed or slotted in according to the instructions.

Cleaning the glass without scratching it

On glass, a slightly damp microfibre cloth is enough; avoid abrasive products and sponges. On clay, use a dry cloth and avoid standing water. On a cotton shade, a soft brush or light vacuuming. On durability, the warranty is 2 or 3 years depending on the model, to be checked on the product sheet.

Green glass or smoked glass floor lamp: which to choose?

Green glass clearly colours the light and becomes a point of colour in the room; it warms a white or beige interior. Smoked glass, more neutral, dims the light in grey and fades into the background in the evening. Choose according to whether you want a fixture that stands out or one that blends in.

Green, more present in a light room

On a white or beige wall, the green shade stands out and colours the halo around the fixture. It is the choice for a room where you want a note of colour without repainting. Green also matches light woods and natural textiles, and combines well with an orange shade in small touches.

Smoked, more discreet in the evening

Smoked dims without colouring: the light stays close to white, slightly greyed. In an already colourful interior, or a room where you want calm in the evening, it is safer. Compare both renders in our selection of smoked glass floor lamps, and see the gold and black pairings if you want contrast rather than colour.

If green does not suit your room, turn to a modern white or a white LED, which light without tinting. For a stronger statement, the industrial style remains an option. You will find all our lighting fixtures to place these models in relation to one another.

Frequently asked questions

Green glass floor lamp: what light does it give in a living room?

It diffuses a green-tinted light, soft and enveloping, which colours nearby walls without darkening them. Near a sofa, it serves as accent light for reading or chatting. An opal globe gives a more even render than transparent tinted glass.

Coloured glass or clear glass floor lamp, what is the difference?

Coloured glass, here green, acts as a filter: the light comes out tinted and the source stays visible through the wall. Clear glass lets light through as it is and matters mainly for its reflections. Opal glass, for its part, diffuses and hides the bulb.

Green glass pendant light and floor lamp: how to avoid two different greens?

Choose the centrepiece first, then align the other source on the same green family, light with light, dark with dark. A strong green on the ceiling supports a darker green floor lamp; two medium greens in different shades compete for attention.

Glass ball wall light: can it be combined with a green floor lamp?

Yes, provided you spread the heights: the wall light high on the wall, the floor lamp on the ground, to avoid two sources at the same level. A glass ball wall light picks up the floor lamp's vocabulary without repeating the green, which lightens the room.

Can a green glass floor lamp go in a bathroom?

No. All models in this collection are rated IP20, a rating intended for dry rooms. In a bathroom, humidity and splashes require a higher protection rating, which these floor lamps do not carry. Turn to a model designed for these rooms.

Our advice for choosing
