Place a bathroom wall sconce above the mirror or opposite the toilet, at eye level: the light falls where you look, without taking up floor space. All models mount to the wall with an E14, G9 or E27 socket, and the choice comes down to material, colour and the position of the light point.

Which sconce for a toilet?
Place the bathroom wall sconce above the mirror or opposite the toilet, at eye level, avoiding direct reflection into the eyes. With a double mirror, it is better to fix the light point on the opposite wall. For a toilet without a ledge, sconces with an integrated toilet-paper holder simplify the layout.
Bathroom wall sconce for a toilet: the right size above the mirror
On a 60 to 80 cm wall, a single sconce is enough, centred on the mirror or offset towards the toilet. Small formats fit in a narrow niche: the Vibez with its G9 socket does not drop into the field of vision. The axis of the light point is generally placed around 1.80 m from the floor, to be adjusted with the height of the mirror.
Bathroom wall sconces: one or two on either side of the mirror
Two symmetrical sconces are justified on a wide wall or a double mirror: they remove shadows on the face. Below one metre of wall, a single source remains more legible. The Oslo in white opal glass diffuses a soft light without a dazzling point.
How many lumens are needed to light a toilet?
The sconces in the selection mount on an E14, G9 or E27 socket: the bulb remains to be chosen, and the power depends on the bulb you place in it, never on the sconce alone. In a toilet of a few square metres, an 8 to 10 W LED bulb in warm light is enough; more powerful, the light becomes aggressive.
Power and colour temperature: what suits a small room
Temperature is chosen in kelvins, on the bulb. Around 2700 to 3000 K, the light is warm and restful, suited to a room without a window. Between 3500 and 4000 K, it stays neutral and renders the tile shades more accurately. A dimmable model lets you lower the intensity in the evening.
E14, G9 or E27 socket: which bulb to plan before ordering
The E14, the most common, takes small screw bulbs. The G9 accepts a pin bulb, often more compact, as on the Muro with a wood look supplied with its bulb. The E27 opens up to the most widespread bulbs, with a larger volume. Check the socket on the product page.
Toilet light: sconce, ceiling light or pendant?
In a toilet, the bathroom wall sconce frees up the volume and is placed above the mirror, where the eye rests. A ceiling light works when no wall is free, a pendant requires height, which these rooms rarely have. The collection brings together only bathroom wall sconces for toilets.
Why a bathroom wall sconce rather than a ceiling light in a narrow toilet
The ceiling light illuminates from above and leaves the face in the shadow of the forehead. The sconce places the light from the front or the side, without cluttering the volume, and remains accessible for changing the bulb. It is the simplest fixing point when the room measures two or three square metres.
Where to place the light point in a toilet
Above the mirror, at about 1.80 m from the floor, or 40 or 50 cm on each side if the mirror is wide. Without a mirror, place it opposite the toilet, at the eye level of a seated person. Avoid placing it directly in the line of the eyes: grazing light is less tiring.
Bathroom wall sconce for a toilet: do you need an IP20 or IP65 model?
Most sconces in the collection are IP20, which suits dry toilets, without water spray. A few models are IP65 for a damp room or an adjoining shower. Check the protection rating on the product page before ordering.
When an IP20 sconce is enough in a toilet
IP20 covers the common case: a separate, ventilated toilet, where no water is sprayed on the walls. If your room is of this type, the constraint does not arise and you choose freely among the black bathroom wall sconces or the light finishes.
Adjoining shower or very damp room: when to move to IP65
As soon as a shower shares the room, or the walls stay damp, go for a high protection rating. The catalogue of IP65 sconces meets this need, and the bathroom wall sconces cover mirror lighting at the same time.
Which materials and colours to choose to light a toilet?
Black metal and opal glass come up most often, alongside graphite glass, rattan, wood, cork and marble. Black structures a small volume, white enlarges it, gold adds material. The wall shade guides the final choice.
Black metal and opal glass: why this duo comes up so often
The metal gives a clean line, the opal glass masks the bulb and diffuses without dazzling. It is the simplest pairing for a light painted wall as for graphic tiling, and it pairs well with the matte black metal of other rooms.
Rattan, wood, cork or marble: bringing material into a small space
These materials warm a room tiled from top to bottom. Woven rattan, as on the Lotus in black rattan, draws shadows on the wall. Natural wood and cork suit soft interiors, veined marble suits more dressed settings.
| Model | Socket | Stated power | Main material | Colour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Muro wood look, bulb included | G9 | 5 W | Steel and wood | Gold and brown |
| Vibez | G9 | 8 W | Glass and metal | Black |
| Hunter, opal glass | E14 | 10 W | Glass and metal | Black |
| Pregos | E14 | 10 W | Glass, metal and steel | White |
| Lotus | E14 | 10 W | Rattan and metal | Black |
| Ognis | E27 | 10 W | Glass, metal and steel | Black |
How to get an original toilet decoration?
You get an original toilet decoration by playing on the shape of the sconce, ball, globe, oval, round or leaf, and on its connection to the wall, rather than multiplying sources. A single well-placed light point, a tinted glass or a woven rattan is enough to change the mood.
Playing with shapes: ball, globe, oval, round or leaf
Round shapes soften a tiled wall, ovals visually lengthen the room. A leaf-shaped sconce or a smoked glass globe creates a detail the eye remembers. To push the effect, compare with the design models for a bathroom.
A well-placed light point rather than several sources
In a volume of a few square metres, two sources compete and flatten the mood. A side sconce, a discreet graphite glass or a gold finish is enough. The retro style also works very well on a small wall, without adding anything else.
How to install and care for a bathroom wall sconce for a toilet?
The sconce is fixed to the wall after switching off the power and aligns with the mirror or the gaze. For care, a soft cloth is enough on metal, glass and marble; rattan is dusted dry and abrasive products are avoided on lacquered or gold finishes.
Height, alignment with the mirror and direction of the light
Switch off the power before drilling, mark the axis of the mirror, then fix the bracket level. Check that the beam lights the face and not the top of the head. All sconces in the collection are installed as a simple bathroom wall sconce, with an E14, G9 or E27 bulb.
Cleaning glass, metal, rattan and wood without damaging the finish
Opal glass is cleaned with warm soapy water, then dried gently. Graphite glass just needs a dry microfibre cloth, which avoids marks. Metal is polished with a soft cloth, rattan is dusted dry, and cork fears stagnant moisture.
| Material | Feel in the room | Care |
|---|---|---|
| Metal and steel | Matte finish that structures the wall | Soft cloth, no abrasive |
| Opal glass | Diffuses light without dazzling | Warm soapy water, gentle drying |
| Graphite glass | Smoked shade, more discreet light | Dry microfibre cloth |
| Rattan | Warmth and relief | Dry dusting |
| Wood and cork | Natural, warm look | Dry cloth, no stagnant moisture |
| Marble | Veined, each piece is different | Soft non-abrasive cloth |
Can these sconces be installed elsewhere than in a toilet?
Yes. The sconces in the collection are listed for the hallway, staircase, bedroom, living room, entrance, dressing room and toilet. The same opal glass sconce can therefore light a hallway or a bedside; you just need to adapt the bulb and the installation height.
Hallway, staircase, entrance: lighting without dazzling
In a hallway, the sconce is placed at about 1.80 m and repeated every three to four metres to mark the way, which the models for hallway and staircase cover. At the entrance, a single sconce is enough to light an entrance without dazzling.
Bedroom, living room, dressing room: a bathroom wall sconce that changes use
Two sconces framing the bed replace bedside lamps, with a bedside sconce at reading height. In the living room, they serve as additional lighting near a sofa or a bookcase, like the living room wall sconces. For a modern kitchen decoration, the same principle works along a worktop, and woven rattan softens a bedroom. The whole range is found in the complete lighting catalogue, a light for every room in the house.
Frequently asked questions
Toilet light: which solution to choose in a small room?
In a narrow room, a bathroom wall sconce remains the simplest: it lights the mirror area and does not drop into the field of vision. The models in the collection mount to the wall with an E14, G9 or E27 socket and take up little depth.
Which toilet light when the room has no window?
Without daylight, the sconce carries all the lighting: choose an LED bulb in the available socket, E14, G9 or E27, with a rather warm temperature for a small volume. A single well-placed point is enough in a toilet without a window.
Can a bathroom wall sconce for a toilet replace a ceiling light?
Yes, as soon as a free wall is found opposite the toilet or above the mirror. The sconce lights the useful area and avoids the cast shadow created by a ceiling light. All models in the collection mount to the wall, with an E14, G9 or E27 bulb.
Original toilet decoration: how to go about it without work?
You replace the existing sconce rather than the wall. A ball, globe, oval or leaf shape, a tinted glass, a woven rattan or a gold finish is enough to transform the room, without drilling elsewhere or redoing the house electrics.
Should you choose a bathroom wall sconce for a toilet supplied with its bulb?
The Muro with a wood look is supplied with its bulb, in a G9 socket. For the other references, the bulb remains to be chosen separately: it is the opportunity to adjust the power and colour temperature to the size of the room.
Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service accompany every order. The two-year warranty applies to the whole selection.
One last reference point before validating: note the socket of the sconce and the width of your wall, then choose the matching bulb. These two pieces of information avoid a round trip, and you install the right light.
