Distribute the spotlights in a regular grid, at least 30 cm from the walls and 1 to 1.5 m apart from each other. Align them with the lines of the room, never randomly. Add adjustable spotlights above key areas: sofa, bookcase, coffee table.

A simple method, from planning to marking:

1. Draw the living room to scale and identify usage areas.
2. Draw a grid, keeping a 30 cm margin from the walls.
3. Place a spotlight at each intersection, tightening them above reading corners.
4. Set the points back from curtains and corners to avoid burnt-out areas.

What type of spotlight for a living room?

Choose adjustable recessed LED spotlights with a GU10 base, in warm white 2700K, combined with a dimmer. The adjustable feature directs the beam toward a wall or painting; the dimmer switches from work light to soft ambiance without changing the bulb.

The GU10 base is dominant in this format: easy to replace and dimmer-compatible depending on the model. For a warm look, stay under 3000K; above that, the light tends toward cold white, which is more technical.
