A travertine wall light comes down to three reference points: 10 cm square for a narrow wall, Ø 21.5 cm for a strong light point, and warm white LED light between 2700 and 3500 K. All models in this collection are rated IP20, so they are for dry interiors only: living room, bedroom, hallway, staircase, entryway or toilet.

What light does a travertine wall light give?

The beige stone reflects a warm light: a warm white between 2700 and 3500 K keeps the veining visible and does not harden the tone. The black disc of the round version absorbs light instead of reflecting it, which creates a sharp contrast on a light wall. All wall lights in the collection use integrated LED, with no bulb to change, and an IP20 protection rating.

Warm white 2700-3500 K: what the stone reflects

In this range, the light leans towards amber: a travertine wall takes on a honey tone in the evening, where a very cool white would have greyed it. This is the usual setting for ambient lighting in a living space, in LED wall lights as elsewhere.

An accent, not general lighting

A wall light illuminates a wall and the nearby area, not an entire room. Count it as an accent that accompanies a ceiling light, a pendant or table lamps. To place this fixture within our full range of lighting, compare the lighting families.

Which travertine wall light should you choose for a living room?

Start with the available wall space. The square Travea wall light, 10 cm square, slips in near a sofa, a bookcase or a console, where it lights a book or an object. The round Wystan, Ø 21.5 cm and 10 W, takes up more surface and reads as a deliberate light point. Both give warm white light, from 2700 to 3500 K.

Modern living room wall light: square or round?

On a modern wall composition, the square one aligns easily with a shelf or a frame: its 10 cm square fits into a narrow grid. The round one breaks that grid, which makes it better suited to a bare wall or the axis of a piece of furniture. For other shapes, compare living room wall lighting. A living room with a modern decor also accepts two wall lights offset in height.

What power and what effect?

The round version states 10 W; the square one does not give a power rating. A 10 W wall light remains accent lighting: it draws a halo and lights a nearby area, not the whole room. To light the entire living room, combine it with a ceiling light or a pendant.

The stone model in the collection is the square Travea travertine wall light, and the round Wystan is a version with a black metal disc.

Travertine, wood or walnut: which material should you choose for a wall light?

Travertine is a light stone with horizontal veining and a slightly hollow texture, which brings a mineral relief to a neutral wall. Wood or walnut give a darker tone and a warmer grain; black metal contrasts sharply. Decide first based on the colour of your wall and floor: a beige stone on a beige wall blends in, on a dark wall it stands out.

Travertine or wood on a light wall?

On a light wall, travertine plays in nuance: the stone stays in the same colour family and it is the relief, more than the colour, that shows. Wood marks the contrast more strongly with its more pronounced veining and deeper tone.

When should you prefer a dark tone?

When the wall is already light and you need a visual anchor point, a dark tone holds the eye. For other combinations, look at the metal versions. White wall lights are, conversely, suited to coloured walls.

How do you install a wired wall light?

You need a cable supply at the wall, behind the backplate. Cut the power at the breaker, mark the height in pencil before drilling, check the nature of the surface (plasterboard, brick, concrete) and entrust the connection to an electrician if in doubt. These models are wired and IP20: they are fitted on an already powered wall, in a dry room.

The effect is decided before drilling: fitted too high, the wall light lights the ceiling; too low, it dazzles. For other wall configurations, browse the indoor wall lights, then the wall light section.

Where should you install a travertine wall light in the home?

These wall lights are intended for dry rooms: living room, bedroom, hallway, staircase, entryway and toilet. Fitted alone, the wall light marks a wall and replaces a bedside lamp. Repeated, it draws a regular path of light: keep the same height and the same spacing from one point to the next.

How do you light a stairwell?

Fit one wall light per flight rather than a single one at mid-height: the eye finds a marker step after step, in warm white, without dazzling on the way up. IP20 is enough here, since a house stairwell is a dry volume. Rhythm matters more than power: several weak points are better than one strong isolated point.

What light for a toilet?

In a toilet, a low and discreet light is enough: a single wall light above the axis avoids the harsh lighting of a ceiling light. This is where an original WC wall light makes full sense, the stone then serving as the only wall decoration.

The same model repeated suits hallways and passageways. In a stairwell, allow one wall light per flight. In a bedroom, these models replace bedroom wall lamps.

Where to install a travertine wall light
Room What the wall light brings To check before drilling
Living room A light point above a sofa or a console Choose 10 cm square or Ø 21.5 cm depending on space
Bedroom An alternative to the bedside lamp, in warm white Check the model's dimmer compatibility
Hallway A repeated accent light along the wall Repeat the same model for a regular rhythm
Staircase A visual marker step after step IP20: dry interior only
Entryway A welcoming light near the shoe cabinet Check the existing electrical supply
Toilet A low and discreet light above the axis Dry room: IP20 is enough

Can you fit a travertine wall light in a bathroom or outdoors?

No: these models are rated IP20, a rating that protects against neither humidity nor water splashes. An IP20 wall light is therefore for dry rooms only. In a bathroom, you need a fixture with a higher protection rating suited to wet areas; outdoors, a watertight wall light designed for rain and temperature variations. The stone itself changes nothing: it is the fixture that is protected, not the travertine.

For a wet room, turn to indoor wall lights whose protection rating matches the use, rather than a dry-room model.

How do you match a boho chic wall light with the wall colour?

Beige travertine calls for warm, neutral walls: sand, linen, off-white or light terracotta. Add raw wood, washed linen, wool, matte materials, and the stone becomes the room's mineral point. On a dark wall, the black version stands out more and its disc stands apart clearly. Avoid highly saturated tones: they compete with the veining and the stone disappears.

Which materials go with the stone?

Raw wood, rattan, thick cotton, matte ceramic: anything textured and non-glossy goes with travertine. A wall painted in satin reflects light and crushes the stone; a matte wall lets it breathe and keeps the veining readable.

Which finishes for a country chic feel?

The country chic feel depends on little: light stone, metal, simple lines, no gilding. A country chic wall light is fitted on an off-white wall, near a wooden piece of furniture, with a matte disc. To broaden the search, compare the black finishes. Modern style models play the opposite card, more graphic.

How do you choose between the models and what budget should you plan?

Decide on four points: the shape, the wall footprint (10 cm square versus Ø 21.5 cm), dimmer compatibility and the room to be lit. Travertine remains affordable at entry level, with more elaborate models above. To stay with the most affordable models, compare at equivalent finish. The manufacturer's warranty ranges from 2 to 5 years depending on the model.

Comparing the travertine wall lights in the collection
Model Shape and dimensions Material and finish Light and power Protection rating Dimmer
Travea Square, 10 x 10 x 10 cm Metal and stone, beige Warm white LED 2700-3500 K IP20 Compatible
Wystan Round, Ø 21.5 cm, depth 5 cm Metal, black disc Warm white LED 2700-3500 K, 10 W IP20 Not specified

Check three things before confirming: the electrical supply at the wall, the installation height and the wall tone. Once these points are set, all that remains is to choose between beige stone and black, then between a square shape and the round wall lights.

See the Travea in beige stone for a narrow wall, or discover the Wystan with the black disc for a deliberate light point.

Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to apply a water repellent to travertine?

A water repellent is applied to porous stone to limit stains, never to the electrical parts of the fixture. It does not change the protection rating: an IP20 wall light remains for dry rooms only, even if its stone has been treated. Always test the product on a less visible area.

Which wall colour goes best with a travertine floor?

With a travertine floor, off-white, beige or stone grey walls let the stone dominate without dulling it. A light terracotta or a matte black creates a stronger contrast, useful behind a light wall light. Avoid highly saturated tones, which compete with the travertine's veining.

Round or square travertine wall light: which shape should you choose?

The square Travea, 10 cm square, reads as a small block of stone and suits narrow walls or aligned compositions. The round Wystan, Ø 21.5 cm and 10 W, creates a focal point and lights more. Decide based on the available wall space.

How do you choose an original wall light?

An original wall light comes down to material and shape: the travertine stone, its irregular veining, the black metal disc of the round model. First check the location, the electrical supply and the desired light, then choose between beige stone and black.

Wired wall light: what should you plan before buying?

A wired wall light needs an electrical supply at the wall and an accessible switch. Note the installation height and the nature of the surface before ordering, cut the power during installation and entrust the connection to an electrician if the assembly is not clear.
