Choose the room before the model: in a bedroom, a stone pendant light close to the bed gives a soft light; above a table, it lights the dining surface. The whole collection is IP20, so reserved for dry interiors, with an E27 socket on three of the four models and a more compact G9 socket on the Elyps oval pendant.

Which stone pendant light should you choose for each room?

The choice depends above all on the room. In a bedroom and living room, a stone pendant light close to the bed or sofa creates a soft light. In a dining room and kitchen, it goes above the worktop or the table. All models are IP20, for indoor use.

Stone pendant light for the bedroom: which light?

In a bedroom, you want a low, enveloping light. The travertine and linen of the Flamora cream pendant filter the source and avoid a harsh point of light above the bed. The Blomma pendant in brass and clear glass also works, with its 25 cm diameter and 50 cm bar. For a light tone, see the white pendants for the bedroom.

Stone pendant light for the dining room: which format?

Above a table, the pendant defines the centre of the room. The Phedra pendant in linen and travertine works with three lights on a Ø 21 cm, which lights without overpowering a table for four to six. In the kitchen, on an island or a worktop, a simple model is enough: LED pendants for the kitchen and glass pendants for the kitchen are quicker to clean than a fabric shade.

What light does a stone pendant light give?

Stone and linen diffuse a soft light: with a filament E27 bulb, you get a warm white around 2700 to 3500 K. LED models such as Elyps also offer a cool white, from 4500 to 6500 K, sharper for working. The final result depends on the bulb chosen.

Natural stone pendant light and warm light

The matte grain of travertine and the weave of linen absorb part of the light and reflect it gently. That is what gives these pendants their mood-lamp feel rather than a spotlight. A filament bulb in warm white reinforces this effect, in the living room as in the bedroom. To go further on light sources, compare with the modern LED pendants, whose integrated modules hold the same temperature over their whole life.

LED or E27 bulb: which to choose?

The E27 socket, found on Phedra, Blomma and Flamora, leaves the choice of bulb to you: you decide the temperature and the power, and you replace the source alone when it wears out. The Elyps oval uses a more compact G9 socket, with an LED module that offers two temperatures, warm white and cool white. Flexibility on one side, a constant result on the other.

Natural stone, glass or white pendant light: which look?

Natural stone, often travertine, brings a cream tone and a matte grain. Glass combined with brass or metal gives a brighter, more graphic look, as on Elyps. For light tones, the collection ranges from beige to grey and smoked, rather than a stark white.

Stone pendant lights: materials, rooms and sockets
Model Materials Recommended room Socket Colour
Phedra Linen and stone, travertine fitting Dining room, kitchen E27 Beige
Blomma Glass, brass, metal, copper and stone Living room, bedroom, hallway E27 Gold, pink, grey
Flamora Linen and stone, cream travertine Dining room, living room, bedroom E27 Beige
Elyps Glass, metal and stone Bedroom, kitchen G9 Grey, smoked

Natural stone and travertine pendant light

Travertine is not smooth: its pits and veins change from one piece to the next. That is what sets a stone piece apart from a moulded shade, and it is also why two pendants side by side never look exactly alike. On Phedra and Flamora, the stone serves as a fitting and a colour echo beneath a cream linen shade.

Light stone pendant light: beige or grey?

The beige of linen and travertine warms a white wall or light wood. Grey and smoked lean towards a more understated decor: they sit well near a worktop, a black piece of furniture or a polished concrete kitchen. If you are unsure, look first at the tone of the furniture the pendant will hang above, and compare with the grey pendants before deciding.

At what height and how do you install a stone pendant light?

The height is set by adjusting the cable: Elyps provides 180 cm, Blomma installs on a 50 cm bar. The ceiling rose or canopy is fixed to the ceiling and hides the connection. As all models are IP20, they remain reserved for dry interiors.

Shapes, dimensions and dimming of stone pendant lights
Model Shape Dimensions IP Dimmer
Phedra Round, three lamps Ø 21 cm IP20 Not specified
Blomma Globe, three lights Ø 25 cm, height 12.5 cm, bar 50 cm, canopy 30 cm IP20 Yes
Flamora Round Ø 21 cm IP20 Not specified
Elyps Oval 20 cm x 30 cm, cable 180 cm, ceiling rose 10 cm IP20 Yes

Setting the height above a table

Above a dining table, you generally keep about sixty centimetres between the shade and the tabletop: low enough for the light to fall on the plates, high enough not to get in the way of the person opposite. In the kitchen, over a worktop or island, allow around 75 to 85 cm, depending on your height and the depth of the worktop. The 180 cm cable of Elyps and the 50 cm bar of Blomma leave room to adjust after installation.

Fixing the ceiling rose

The ceiling rose or canopy is screwed to the ceiling at the point where the wires come out, and hides the connector block. Blomma uses a round 30 cm canopy, Elyps a 10 cm ceiling rose: the wider the plate, the more it covers an existing hole. Switch off the power at the breaker before working. An IP20 model should not be installed in a bathroom, outdoors or under a extractor hood.

Once the height is confirmed over a table or worktop, the rest of the choice comes down to finish: browse all our lighting to see the families, then come back to the selection below.

How do you care for a stone and linen pendant light?

Stone and travertine are dusted with a soft, dry cloth. The IP20 rating means avoiding moisture and splashes. The linen of a shade is brushed lightly, while glass and brass are cleaned with a non-abrasive cloth. Always switch off before working.

Cleaning stone and travertine

A dry microfibre cloth is enough for dust, about once a month. Travertine is porous: water, wine or grease leave a dark mark, and an acidic household product attacks the surface. If a stain persists, rub with a slightly damp cloth then dry at once, without detergent. Never immerse the stone element.

Caring for a linen shade and brass

On a linen shade, use a soft brush or the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner, without rubbing: linen marks and loses its shape. For unvarnished brass, a soft cloth restores the shine, and the patina that develops over time is part of the look. Avoid polishing paste and abrasives on glass as well as on gold-coloured metal, which would lose their finish.

Dimmable stone pendant light: how do you adjust the lighting?

Several stone pendant lights accept a dimmer, including Elyps and Blomma. On models with an E27 socket, dimming depends on the bulb: you need a compatible bulb. This way you go from mood lighting to a brighter light without changing the fixture.

Dimming an LED pendant light

When the module is integrated, dimmer compatibility depends on the driver of the fixture, not on an accessory to add. This is the case with Elyps, which also manages two light temperatures: warm white for a dinner, cool white from 4500 to 6500 K for cooking or reading. Adjustment is made from the wall switch, with no app or remote control. For other solutions of the same kind, see the dimmable pendants and the designer LED pendants.

Dimmer-compatible bulb on an E27 socket

On Phedra, Blomma and Flamora, the dimmer only works if the bulb is designed for it. An ordinary LED bulb starts to flicker or switches off in steps. Look for the words "dimmer" or "dimmable" on the packaging, and check that the power stays within the range accepted by the fixture. The Phedra pendant in linen and travertine thus accepts a bulb of 40 W maximum.

How do you match a stone pendant light to your decor style?

Stone pendant lights pair well with a Nordic interior, where travertine and linen respond to light wood and soft tones. In a bohemian version, they marry with cane and natural materials. Glass and brass, as on Blomma, lean more towards a contemporary or vintage style.

Stone pendant light for a Nordic or bohemian interior

On a white wall, a light oak floor and a raw wood piece of furniture, a cream linen shade blends into the decor. In bohemian style, add a fibre rug, rattan, plants: the stone then brings the mineral side that balances the rest. The Nordic pendants cover this vein, and the gold pendants for the bedroom offer a warmer variant.

Contemporary and vintage mood

Clear glass and brass are the ingredients of a contemporary interior: clean lines, few materials, transparency. In a vintage version, they are paired with tan leather, a graphic rug or a black piece of furniture. Blomma comes in gold, pink and grey, which lets you align it with a tone already present. To lean towards evening, compare with the gold-coloured metal pendants and the designer glass pendants.

What budget should you allow for a stone pendant light?

The budget varies with the finish and the number of light points: a simple linen and travertine pendant remains affordable, while a three-light model in glass and brass sits higher. All pendants in the collection are guaranteed for two years. The current price is shown on each product page.

Affordable models and more elaborate pieces

A round linen and travertine model with a single source requires less material and assembly than a three-light piece in glass and brass, whose bar and canopy add assembly work. The price follows this logic, without being linked to size alone: a Ø 21 cm with three lamps can cost more than a Ø 25 cm with a single source. The up-to-date amount appears on each model's page, in the collection grid.

Warranty and Designix service

All stone pendant lights in the collection are guaranteed for two years. The shop provides secure payment, tracked delivery and returns, with a Designix customer service for any question on choosing or installing the fixture. Keep the box and the assembly instructions during the warranty period: in case of a missing part, it makes things much easier.

Frequently asked questions about stone pendant lights

What is a natural stone pendant light?

A natural stone pendant light combines a stone element, often travertine, with a metal structure or a linen shade. It diffuses a soft light and is installed in a dining room, living room or bedroom. The models in the collection have an IP20 protection rating, for indoor use.

White or beige stone pendant light: which light finish?

The light tones range from beige to cream on the linen and travertine models, and from grey to smoked on the glass models. There is no stark white: travertine brings a warm nuance, clear glass a cooler transparency. The choice depends on the material of the wall and the furniture.

Which socket for a stone pendant light, E27 or G9?

Most stone pendant lights in the collection use an E27 socket, which leaves you free to choose the bulb, including filament. Elyps uses a more compact G9 socket, suited to its oval geometric structure. The socket determines the power and the type of bulb to plan for.

Can you install a stone pendant light in a kitchen?

Yes, some models are designed for the kitchen, to hang above a worktop or an island. They are rated IP20, so reserved for dry interiors: avoid placing them too close to a water point or an extractor hood. The height is adjusted on the cable.

Can you adjust the brightness of a stone pendant light?

Some stone pendant lights accept a dimmer, including Elyps and Blomma. On models with an E27 socket, dimming also depends on the bulb: you need a compatible bulb. This way you adjust the mood without changing the fixture.

Our advice for choosing
Les suspensions en pierre associent le travertin, le lin ou le verre à une structure métal pour diffuser une lumière douce dans le salon, la chambre ou la salle à manger. Culot E27 ou G9, indice de protection IP20, plusieurs modèles acceptent un variateur.
