Count on a wall plug fixing, a battery recharged by USB cable, and no mains connection: the rechargeable wall light goes where a socket is missing. This partial selection, drawn from 42 products in the collection, brings together design wall lights and wall lamps in wood, plastic, metal and glass, with integrated LED or GU10 socket, from IP20 for a dry room up to IP65 for an exposed facade.
What is a rechargeable wall light and how does it work?
A rechargeable wall light is a cordless wall lamp: it mounts on the wall like a classic wall light, but runs on a battery recharged by USB cable. No electrical connection is needed, which means you can install it above a bed, in a hallway or on a terrace without planning for a socket.
Rechargeable cordless wall light: how does it work?
Installation follows that of a traditional wall light: a bracket screwed to the wall, the light clipped onto it. Then just two gestures. You switch it on directly on the lamp, or with the built-in switch when the model has one, such as the Orena with switch. Recharging happens periodically, when the battery weakens, which leaves the lamp free of any visible cable the rest of the time. The Helios cordless light object can also be mounted as a wall light or on a piece of furniture.
Rechargeable USB wall light: where to recharge?
A USB cable connects the lamp to a charger while it tops up. Once unplugged, nothing hangs on the wall: no wire, no trunking. That is what sets a rechargeable indoor wall light apart from a wired one, which requires a power supply at the exact mounting point. The technology used remains mostly LED, with a GU10 socket on a few models, and a protection rating ranging from IP20 to IP65 depending on use.
Where to install a rechargeable wall light in the home?
With no cable, the rechargeable wall light goes where a socket is missing: hallway, staircase, toilet, dressing room, bathroom or headboard. It moves as needed, and IP54 or IP65 models work outdoors, on a terrace or near a sheltered entrance.
Toilet wall light and design WC wall light
In a toilet or dressing room, a wall socket is rarely planned. A cordless wall light solves the problem with a single fixing, and small formats slip above a mirror or a narrow cabinet. The Saona 25 Wall in natural fibres is rated IP54, which also covers a bathroom wall light or a damp corner.
Staircase and hallway wall light
A staircase or hallway without a socket calls for a passage light: enough light to find your way, without glare. The Box 8 square at 8 x 8 x 8 cm is mounted in small groups, while the Roll 8 round in wood takes a minimalist profile. To go further with these circulation areas, see the models designed for hallways and the staircase wall light.
| Room | What you expect from the light | Model in the selection | Protection rating | Material |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hallway, staircase | passage lighting, no socket | Box 8 square, Roll 8 round | IP20 | Wood, plastic |
| Living room, bedroom | warm white ambience | Double Moon, Orena | IP20 | Metal and glass, plastic and metal |
| Toilet, dressing room, bathroom | quick mounting on a partition | Saona 25 Wall | IP54 | Natural fibres and wood |
| Covered terrace, sheltered entrance | movable additional light | Sisine 25, Conta 25 Wall | IP54 | Wood, plastic and wood |
| Facade exposed to rain | weather resistant | Wally, Greta 5 in 1 | IP65 | Plastic |
Which rechargeable wall light to choose for the living room?
For a living room, you want light that illuminates without glare: an LED wall light in warm white, mounted high, highlights the wall and accompanies the seating. The Double Moon model in metal and glass or the Orena with switch work well above a sofa.
Modern living room wall light
Above a sofa or along a bookshelf, a discreet wall light is better than a large diffuser. The Double Moon, 8 W in warm white, combines black metal with glass that softens the beam: 12 cm wide for 15 cm deep, enough to fit on a narrow partition. If you are looking for a modern living room wall light, keep lines simple and the finish plain.
Powerful living room wall light
Power is read in watts, on the product sheet, and the result in colour temperature. Two reference points in this selection: the Double Moon and the modern Orena with switch, with a warm white light around 2700 to 3500 K. None of these wall lights is designed to light an entire room on its own; they highlight a wall and complement the main lighting. To compare, browse our LED wall lighting. The luminous flux in lumens is given on each model's product sheet.
How to choose an original, boho or country chic wall light?
Wall lights in natural fibres and wood give the boho feel; a country chic wall light plays on wood, simple shape and warm light. For a more graphic room, an original wall light can be square, round or cage-shaped, depending on the chosen material.
Boho wall light and boho chic wall light
Boho comes down to two things: material and light. Wood and natural fibres dominate the selection, with round or cage shapes that let the halo through. The Sisine 25 in natural fibres measures 22.5 x 11.5 x 24.5 cm and is rated IP54, covered terrace included. The Conta 25 Wall in taupe plays the same card with plastic dressed in wood, at 24.5 x 24.5 x 11.5 cm.
An original and country chic wall light
Country chic style does not come from an overloaded decor: it comes from wood, a simple shape and warm light, never cold white. A square or tube wall light works better than a tortured shape on a farmhouse partition or a rendered wall. To widen the field, take a look at the contemporary styles, which often share this restraint of lines.
Which colour of rechargeable wall light to choose: black, white or gold?
Black blends into a dark wall or highlights moulding, white disappears on a light partition, taupe and yellow bring a soft note. The finishes available here vary by model: black, white, yellow, red and taupe, to be chosen according to the wall receiving them.
Black or white finish: what difference on the wall?
Black draws a silhouette, useful on a light wall or painted panelling. White fades into a plaster wall or an already light partition, which suits small rooms. The Box 8 square and the Roll 8 round come in both finishes, while the Conta 25 Wall chooses taupe. Compare the black finishes and the white wall light models before deciding.
Gold rechargeable wall light: how to match it?
This selection does not offer a gold finish: it stays with black, white, yellow, red and taupe. For a dark wall or panelling, turn to our choice of gold wall light. Gold warms a dark partition, provided the other lights in the room stay understated, otherwise the room becomes noisy.
Which waterproof outdoor wall light to choose?
Outdoors, the protection rating matters more than style: IP54 for a covered terrace or sheltered passage, IP65 for a facade exposed to rain. The Wally and Greta 5 in 1 models are IP65, Sisine 25, Saona 25 Wall and Conta 25 Wall are IP54.
IP54 or IP65 depending on exposure
An IP54 protects against water splashes: enough under an awning, on a covered terrace or near a sheltered entrance. An IP65 holds up to direct rain and dust, which makes it suitable for a facade. The Wally solar wall light in IP65 comes in two sizes, 12 and 18 cm, and the Greta 5 in 1 goes down to 16 x 80 cm for wider use.
Solar wall light for terrace and garden
Part of the selection runs on solar energy: no cable, no outdoor socket to run, the lamp is mounted and recharges in daylight. It is the simplest solution on a terrace far from a power supply. These solar models are IP65, while IP54 wall lights suit a bathroom wall light or a sheltered passage. Find the whole range in all our light fixtures.
| Rating | Where to install it | What it protects against | Models in the selection |
|---|---|---|---|
| IP20 | dry interior: hallway, living room, bedroom | no protection against water | Box 8, Roll 8, Double Moon, Orena, Helios |
| IP54 | damp room, covered terrace, sheltered entrance | protected against water splashes | Sisine 25, Saona 25 Wall, Conta 25 Wall |
| IP65 | outdoors exposed to rain | protected against rain and dust | Wally, Greta 5 in 1 |
Powerful LED wall light: what to check before buying?
Power is read in watts, the result in colour temperature: 2700 to 3500 K for a warm white light, suited to a hallway or a living room. A wall light with integrated LED cannot be replaced, a wall light with a GU10 socket such as the Orena accepts a bulb of your choice.
Powerful LED wall light: watts and temperature
One useful figure, two to check. Power is expressed in watts, with 8 W for the Double Moon and 10 W for the Orena in this selection, and colour temperature in kelvins, between 2700 and 3500 K for warm white. The lower the value, the more the light leans towards evening ambience. Power says nothing about the real coverage of a room: these wall lights illuminate a wall, not a volume.
LED or GU10 socket: is the bulb replaceable?
Most models carry an integrated LED, which cannot be replaced: when it stops, so does the fixture. A few references use a GU10 socket, such as the Orena, where you choose the bulb and replace it if needed. The rest of the selection mixes LED, IP20 to IP65 and solar power; see also the ball wall light models for round shapes.
How to install and maintain a rechargeable wall light?
Mounting works as for a classic wall light, on a wall plug, with no electrical supply to plan. The battery recharges via USB cable, a soft cloth is enough for wood, plastic, metal or glass, and the manufacturer's warranty covers two years on most models.
Mounting the wall light without a cable: what to plan for
One bracket, two wall plugs suited to the wall, a spirit level: nothing more. Height is chosen by use. In a hallway, aim for shoulder height to light without glare. In a bedroom, the wall light goes above the headboard, at a reasonable distance from the mattress. Small formats make tight mounting easier: the Box 8 at 8 x 8 x 8 cm, the Roll 8, and the Wally at 12 or 18 cm. To complete a living space, see the living room wall lights and the bedroom wall lamp.
Recharging, battery and material care
Recharging is done with the USB cable, as often as the lamp weakens: no duration is guaranteed, it depends on the model and use. For care, wood and natural fibres are dusted with a soft dry cloth, plastic and metal with a slightly damp cloth, the glass of the Double Moon with an alcohol-free product. The manufacturer's warranty is two years on most models, five years on a small part of the selection. For plain finishes, see the black wall lights and our selection of modern wall light.
Frequently asked questions about the rechargeable wall light
Where can I find a rechargeable wall light?
In our selection of cordless light fixtures: battery wall lights, recharged by USB cable, in wood, plastic, metal or glass. Models range from IP20 for a dry room to IP65 for outdoors, with an integrated LED or GU10 socket depending on the reference.
What is the battery life of a rechargeable bulb?
It depends on the model, the power and the lighting mode chosen. A rechargeable wall light plugs into a USB cable to top up, then works cordless. Each model's product sheet gives its battery, to check before buying.
Is there such a thing as a rechargeable wall light with motion sensor?
Motion sensors are not offered on the models in this selection: they switch on at the switch, like the Orena which has one built in, or directly on the lamp. For a hallway, a wall light with a switch remains the simplest installation.
Which wall light for a staircase or hallway without a socket?
A rechargeable wall light avoids running an electrical line. The Box 8 square at 8 x 8 x 8 cm, the Roll 8 round in wood or the Wally, wider, mount on the wall and cast passage light. Allow several points for a long staircase.
Gold rechargeable wall light: where to find one?
This selection plays on black, white, yellow, red and taupe. For a gold finish, look at our gold wall lights. Gold warms a dark partition if the other lights in the room stay understated.
