Measure ceiling height before choosing: under 2.30 m, a flat chandelier or a ceiling light illuminates better than a long pendant; above that, a chandelier with adjustable cables hangs at eye level. All models in this collection are IP20, with an E27, E14, G9, GU10, GX53 socket or integrated LED depending on the reference.
Which light fixture for an entrance?
In an entrance, choose a fixture that lights the passage area without casting shadows on faces: a chandelier centered on the ceiling, or a ceiling light when the volume is low. The models in the collection are IP20, with an E27, E14, G9, GU10 socket or integrated LED, and an adjustable cable height.
Modern ceiling light for entrance: the low ceiling case
When less than 2.10 m remains between the floor and the bottom of the fixture, circulation becomes awkward: stay close to the ceiling. A shallow linear model works well, such as Trilux, steel and wood, which hangs 26 cm below the ceiling over 56 cm long and 14 cm deep, with an E27 socket. The same size exists with a bit more length. This flat format, 14 to 15 cm deep, is easy to spot in wood light fixtures and in all our light fixtures.
Modern entrance chandelier: the large volume case
A tall hall supports a wide chandelier, and that is where it truly stands out. Quorra with two concentric rings measures 78 cm in diameter, in aluminum with integrated LED, with cables adjustable up to 150 cm: light falls in a crown, with no visible bulb. In a stairwell, opt instead for stairwell pendants, longer than they are wide.
Modern entrance chandelier: which format for which volume?
The format follows the volume: a narrow hallway accepts a compact chandelier of about 62 cm, a double-height hall supports a diameter of 78 to 110 cm, and a stairwell calls for a long pendant, up to 212 cm. Ceiling height decides first.
Large chandelier for high ceilings
Above 3 m, a small fixture looks lost. The large formats in the collection range from 78 cm in diameter (concentric rings) to 110 cm (three stacked rings), with a suspension adjustable up to 150 cm. A wide diameter lights without concentrating the light point, which matters in a hall where people pass quickly. For an opening onto the living room, also look at living room lighting.
Chandeliers for a narrow entrance or hallway
In a passage less than 1.20 m wide, overall width matters more than style. Sorranaro and its three opal globes take up 62 cm wide by 29 cm high, in steel and glass, G9 socket. A linear model 56 to 61 cm long also works: see models designed for hallways.
| Type of space | Format in the collection | Example models | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hallway or narrow entrance | Compact chandelier with curved arms, about 62 cm wide | Sorranaro, Mirnorilo | Steel and glass, G9 socket, IP20 |
| Entrance with standard ceiling | Shallow linear chandelier, 56 to 61 cm long by 14 to 15 cm deep | Trilux, Quinora | Steel and wood, E27 socket, 15 W |
| Large hall or double height | Chandelier with adjustable cables, Ø 78 to 110 cm, suspension up to 150 cm | Quorra, Jalena | Aluminum, integrated LED, IP20 |
| Stairwell | Long pendant, adjustable up to 212 cm high | Lyraelle, Thalos | Aluminum, GU10 or GX53 socket, 10 W |
How do you secure a pendant to the ceiling?
Installation relies on a solid anchor point in the ceiling, sized for the weight of the fixture, then on adjusting the cables. The models in the collection adjust from 26 cm below the ceiling up to 150, 208 or 215 cm depending on the reference, which lets you set the height to the passage.
The fixing point and the weight of the fixture
First check the nature of the support: concrete slab, plasterboard or paneling do not require the same anchor. The fixture must be suspended from a point that carries its weight, never from a simple plaster fixing. Large aluminum rings weigh more than a glass globe chandelier, and that difference shows during installation. The type of support and cable length are detailed in modern LED chandeliers and in the Designix light fixture universe.
Adjusting cable height
Adjust before powering up, with cables relaxed and rings aligned. Selvara goes up to 215 cm high, which leaves margin under a stairwell or mezzanine ceiling. In a hallway, keep the bottom of the fixture above eye level, so you do not bump into it when passing.
Which materials and colors to choose for a modern entrance chandelier?
Steel and aluminum give fine lines and a matte look, opal glass diffuses the light from the globes, wood brings a warm register. In terms of color, black and white dominate the collection, with gold, beige or brown versions depending on the model.
Steel, aluminum, glass, wood: what it changes in the entrance
Steel structures the fine arms and holds straight lines. Aluminum suits rings and long tubes, with a matte finish. Opal glass hides the bulb and softens the light, which avoids glare when you enter. Wood, often combined with steel, warms up a very white entrance. These three families appear in metal finishes and glass models.
Black, white, gold: the finishes in the collection
Black matches a dark door or a metal railing, and remains readable on a light wall. White disappears against a painted ceiling and leaves only the shape visible. Gold, more dressed up, pairs well with brass or a gold handle. For a more refined look, Eclios in black steel plays with coiled cables. Also see the gold color and crystal chandeliers.
What light should a modern entrance have?
The entrance needs light that illuminates without glare: opal globes and diffusers spread it. The collection mostly uses warm white, around 2700 to 3500 K, with a few models in neutral or cool white. E27, E14, G9, GU10 sockets and integrated LEDs coexist.
E27, E14, G9, GU10 or integrated LED: what is the difference?
The E27 screw socket accepts the most common bulbs and is easy to replace. The small E14 suits narrow globes. G9 and GU10 clip in, without screwing, and require a dedicated bulb. Integrated LED cannot be replaced, but it avoids choosing a bulb. For a dimmer, check that it is compatible with the module: Jalena with three stacked rings allows for it.
Warm white, neutral white: how to choose in an entrance?
Warm white, around 2700 to 3500 K, gives light close to a classic bulb and suits a home entrance. Neutral white, around 3500 to 4500 K, stays crisp without being cold, useful near a mirror or storage. Cool white, beyond that, is mainly for technical spaces. The number of light points and the temperature are indicated sheet by sheet, for example in modern LED chandeliers for living room.
| Socket | Bulb type | Models concerned | Stated temperature |
|---|---|---|---|
| E27 | Screw bulb | Quinora, Trilux, Eclios | not stated |
| E14 | Small screw socket | Opalora, Seni, Selvara, Aurélia | warm white, cool white on Aurélia |
| G9 | Pin socket | Mirnorilo, Sorranaro, Fabricia | not stated |
| GU10 | Pin socket | Reya, Lyraelle | not stated |
| Integrated LED | Non-replaceable module | Quorra, Jalena | warm white on Quorra, neutral white on Jalena |
How to match the entrance chandelier with modern living room and kitchen decor?
Link the rooms with a common material or color: a steel and glass entrance chandelier can respond to a modern metal living room chandelier, then to a more understated modern kitchen decor. Black, white and gold finishes serve as a common thread.
Modern living room chandelier and entrance chandelier: the common thread
Repeating the same metal family from one room to another is enough to create continuity, even with different shapes. An entrance with aluminum rings can dialogue with a living room chandelier with fine cables, as long as the shade stays close. The contemporary style groups silhouettes that coexist well with these volumes.
Modern kitchen decor: stay understated next to the entrance
When the kitchen opens onto the entrance, avoid two equally strong fixtures side by side. Keep the statement chandelier in the hall and a more discreet line above the worktop. Wood and steel models work well, to be found in modern kitchen decor and dining room chandelier.
How to light the entrance, hallway and toilet when rooms connect?
When the entrance opens onto a hallway, spread the light rather than concentrating it: a chandelier in the hall, a lower point in the passage. The models in the collection are IP20, so reserved for dry rooms; in a toilet, stick to suitable lighting.
Chandeliers for entrance and hallway: spreading the light
Two light points are better than one very powerful one in the middle of the path. Place the main fixture in the hall, then a more compact second one in the hallway, keeping the same color family. The linear format works here, as shown by the hallway selection and the white color, which blends into the ceiling.
Toilet light fixture and modern toilet decor: why stay IP20
The IP20 rating protects against solid objects, not moisture: it suits the entrance, hallway and living room. In a toilet, therefore, keep the collection fixture outside the room, or choose a model designed for moisture. For the neighboring room, look instead at glass light fixtures for living room.
What mistakes to avoid when choosing a chandelier for your entrance?
The most common mistakes: a format too wide for a hallway, a pendant adjusted too low in the passage, and cold light in an entrance with no other source. Checking diameter, cable height, socket and temperature avoids redoing the installation.
A format too wide for a hallway
A 78 cm diameter chandelier in a 1.10 m passage leaves little room for shoulders. Measure the clear width, then choose a model whose footprint keeps at least 30 cm on each side. Compact formats with curved arms or linear ones are made for these volumes, as in wood light fixtures.
Cold light without a second light point
Cool white alone hardens faces and colors in a space where you arrive from outside. Avoid it in a hall, or pair it with a second warm white point. Check the temperature when ordering, it is not stated on all models. To stay consistent, you can also look in LED chandeliers for kitchen.
Secure payment, tracked delivery, returns and Designix customer service: you order your entrance chandelier knowing its dimensions and socket. Note the diameter, cable height and bulb type of the room before confirming: choosing a format suited to the passage avoids a second trip up the ladder.
Frequently asked questions
Modern entrance chandelier: at what height should it be fixed?
Height is set according to the passage: high enough not to hinder circulation, low enough to stay in the field of view. The models with adjustable cables in the collection range from 26 cm below the ceiling up to 215 cm depending on the chosen reference.
Large chandelier for high ceilings: how to choose it?
First look at the diameter and cable length. In the collection, large formats range from 78 to 110 cm in diameter, with a suspension adjustable up to 150 cm. A stairwell can also take a long 122 cm pendant, adjusted up to 212 cm.
Chandeliers for a narrow entrance: which format to choose?
Choose a compact format that does not eat into the passage: chandeliers with curved arms measure about 62 cm wide by 29 cm high, with a G9 socket. A linear model 56 to 61 cm long also suits a hallway.
Modern toilet decor and toilet light fixture: which choice?
The models in this collection are IP20, so designed for dry rooms such as the entrance, hallway or living room. In a toilet, keep the entrance chandelier outside the room and light the passage area with a suitable light point.
Modern living room chandelier and entrance chandelier: how to match them?
Keep the same family of materials or colors from one room to another. If the entrance has a steel and glass chandelier, a modern living room chandelier in metal or glass continues the same line. Black, white and gold are the most common colors in the collection.
