What counts as a large pendant light and which room should it go in?
A large pendant light is a suspended fixture in a wide format: the selection covers large diameters, elongated linear shapes and structures that hang low, such as the staircase cascade pendant with its 350 cm cable. They are listed for the living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and hallway.
Large living room pendant light
Above a sofa or a reading corner, the fixture fills the empty space without hiding the room. The Reya cloud chandelier hangs from several points and fills a large living room. XXL pendant light for a high ceiling: which size should you choose?
As a rule, aim for one third to one half of the width of the furniture to be lit: under a high ceiling, go for the top of that range so the fixture does not look lost. The selection runs from Ø 40 cm on the Grappe hanging spheres to 300 cm of overall span on the Reya cloud chandelier, via 100 × 20 cm and 120 × 20 cm on Tela.
XXL pendant light: the relationship to the furniture
The Cara large pendant light, at Ø 55 to 65 cm, suits an average table. The Edy staircase chandelier and the Tira brass chandelier are 100 cm wide. The Elo modern LED pendant stretches over 47 × 200 cm and follows a long linear run.
Large staircase pendant light
In a stairwell, the fixture hangs into open space: you need a long drop and an accessible fixing point. Edy is listed for staircases, and the black cascade with a 350 cm cable covers the most generous heights. Measure the clear height below the fixture before drilling. What light does a large pendant light give?
Warm white, from 2700 to 3500 K, is fitted on most of the models recorded; a few are neutral white (3500 to 4500 K), and cool white (4500 to 6500 K) is rarer. Sockets range from E27 and E14 to GU10, G4 and integrated LED modules. Dimming is possible on part of the selection.
Which colour temperature for a living room or dining room?
Warm white remains the benchmark for living spaces: it makes wood and fabrics look softer in the evening. Neutral white lights a worktop or a games table more sharply. Can a large pendant light be dimmable?
Yes: dimming is possible on a third of the models recorded. The linear-format Tela is one of them. The Edy chandelier is another. The Hira contemporary chandelier works on the same principle, as do the Elo pendant, the Signature chandelier and the Bollique cascade. The type of dimmer is confirmed on the model's product page, never from the socket alone.
Kitchen pendant light: how do you hang it over an island or a table?
Place it on the axis of the worktop or island, low enough to light the surface and high enough to stay out of your line of sight when cooking. The selection includes linear formats of 100 × 20 cm and 120 × 20 cm, and multi-point models for wide islands.

Over an island, a single centred large pendant light is enough if its format is wide, such as the Tela at 120 × 20 cm. Over a long island, it is better to line up several sources. The Hira contemporary chandelier, at 100 cm, combines an LED module with warm white light. The Filo chic island chandelier, at 97 cm, works above a narrow counter.

What people look for behind the phrase Italian design often comes down to three things: fine lines, gilded brass or black metal, glass or LED. The Jyla original kitchen chandelier sets the tone. Large pendant light in glass, metal or linen: which material should you choose?
Metal dominates the selection, ahead of glass, aluminium and iron; acrylic, brass, copper, crystal, fabric and linen complete the palette. The material changes the effect: glass diffuses, metal structures, linen and fabric soften the light.

Glass diffuses light and visually lightens a large volume. The Grappe hanging spheres and the Filo chic island chandelier use it as their main material, as does the Cara large pendant light. On these models, light passes through the shade and also lights the ceiling, which avoids too harsh a point above the table.
Large linen pendant light
