First check the free space on the piece of furniture that will hold it: the jute table lamps in the collection measure 32.5 to 58 cm high, with a diameter of 17 to 32 cm. All of them filter the bulb through a jute weave, with an E27 or E14 base, and are intended for indoor use (IP20), in the living room as well as the bedroom.

What kind of light does a jute table lamp give?
Jute filters the bulb without switching it off: the light comes out softened, with the slight relief of the weave. Placed near a light-coloured wall, it lights without glare. The intensity depends on the bulb: the models have an E27 or E14 base, up to 40 W on most references.
Jute table lamp: what kind of light mood?
In the evening, in a reading corner, the weave breaks up the light of a standard bulb and makes it lower, closer to a flame than to a ceiling light. On a light-coloured wall, the halo takes on a warm tint and lets the weave show through. A white shade, on the other hand, reflects a more direct and more even light, without that relief. If you are looking for direct light instead, compare with all the lighting in the house.
Jute, cotton, linen: what effect for the shade?
Jute alone gives a pronounced grain, visible whether the bulb is on or off. Cotton, used on Ano, softens that grain and makes the surface more even. The linen of Montagna brings a more regular weave, with a softer drape. To see these two effects side by side, browse the linen shades.
Where should you put a jute table lamp in the living room or bedroom?
In the living room, it goes on a console, a sideboard or on the floor near the sofa; in the bedroom, on a bedside table. The models in the collection measure 32.5 to 58 cm high, with a diameter of 17 to 32 cm: check the size before choosing.
The most beautiful living room lamps: where to place them so they show?
On a sideboard, the lamp should rise above the back of the sofa so the shade stays visible: Soga and its jute shade, 38 cm high and 30 cm in diameter, fits that space. On the floor, next to an armchair, a large format like Paglia (58 cm) fills the gap left by a plant. The rest of the living room can be chosen from the table lamps for the living room.
Bedside and reading corner: what place for the light?
On a 40 cm wide bedside table, a lamp 29 cm wide leaves room for the book and the glass of water: that is the size of Solo. Near an armchair, the light should fall at shoulder height when seated, so a low model on a small side table rather than a tall stem. See the models designed for the bedroom and the black metal bedside lamps.
How do you choose between a bedside lamp, a table lamp and a floor lamp in jute?
The bedside lamp sits on a piece of furniture and lights up close: Solo measures 46 cm high, Aridaneta 38 cm high and 35 cm wide. The living room table lamp, like Paglia and its 58 cm, goes on the floor or on a low piece of furniture. A floor lamp remains another format, to be reserved for large spaces.
Floor lamps or table lamp: which format for a large living room?
None of the models in this collection is a floor lamp: they are all table lamps. Under a 2.50 m ceiling and in front of a 4 m wall, a tall stem fills the vertical space better than a table lamp, which will leave a gap above it. In that case, look to modern lines in large formats, and keep jute for low surfaces.
Round table lamp design: does the compact format have its place?
A round lamp is a rounded diffuser on a short base. Aridaneta takes that shape in jute and metal: 38 cm high, 35 cm wide, only 16 cm deep, with an E27 base. It lights up close and slips onto a narrow console. For another range of small formats, see the ceramic bedside lamps.
E27 or E14 base: which bulb should you put in a jute table lamp?
The base depends on the model: E27 on Soga, Ano and Paglia, E14 on Solo, and both E14 and E27 on Montagna and Costero. The stated wattage caps at 40 W on most references, 60 W maximum per bulb on Aridaneta. A visible-filament bulb or a warm LED extends the effect of the jute.
| Model | Base | Stated wattage | What that means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soga | E27 | 40 W | Wide base, standard-size bulb |
| Montagna | E14 or E27 | 40 W | Two possible formats depending on the bulb chosen |
| Costero | E14 or E27 | 40 W | Narrow column, compact bulb |
| Ano | E27 | 40 W | Same base as Soga, wider shade |
| Paglia | E27 | 40 W | Large format, single 40 W bulb |
| Solo | E14 | 40 W max per bulb | Three light points, limit per socket |
40 W or 60 W: how do you read the maximum wattage?
The value marked on the socket is a ceiling, not a requirement: a lower-wattage bulb works too. Aridaneta is the only reference in the collection that goes up to 60 W maximum per bulb. On Solo, the 40 W limit applies to each of the three sockets, without adding up for the user.
LED or filament bulb in a jute shade?
The weave lets the source show through: a straight filament is more visible than a frosted globe. A warm-tinted LED, around 2700 to 3000 K, keeps a halo close to incandescence. Most models accept a dimmer, so check that the bulb is stated as compatible. See the design LED models and the LEDs for the bedroom.
How do you wire several lamps to a single electrical supply?
Several table lamps can share the same supply if they are wired in parallel: each socket receives the live and the neutral, and the whole set switches on with a single switch. You add up the bulb wattages to stay within the circuit limit. The models in the collection are IP20, so indoor use only.
Wiring 3 lamps to 1 switch: where do you start?
Cut the power at the consumer unit before any work, then identify live, neutral and earth on the supply. Three 40 W lamps represent 120 W to distribute: compare that with the circuit protection, without ever forcing it. Parallel wiring is done in an accessible box, and an electrician signs off the installation if you add points.
Wiring several lamps in parallel: the mistake to avoid
Confusing series and parallel is the classic trap: in series, removing one lamp switches off the others and the voltage is poorly shared. The other mistake is multiplying points without recalculating the circuit load. If you are looking for bases that are easy to wire, look at the wooden table lamps.
How do you arrange ceiling spotlights with a jute table lamp?
Ceiling spotlights provide the general lighting, the jute table lamp provides the accent and the low light. Avoid placing a spotlight directly above the shade, which would cast a hard shadow on the wall. Better to spread them around the edges and let the lamp light a corner.
Spotlights and table lamp: how do you avoid hard shadows?
A spotlight on the vertical axis of the shade projects the shadow of the fabric onto the wall, in concentric circles. Move the source 50 cm to 80 cm away and aim it at the wall rather than at the lamp. For areas that need precision, adjustable table lamps complement low lighting well.
Should you vary the heights of light?
Yes: a ceiling light alone flattens the room, a low lamp gives it back some depth. General lighting stays high, jute works low, between 40 cm and 80 cm from the floor depending on the furniture. On a white wall, that contrast is often enough. Also see the white design table lamps for light areas.
How do you match a jute table lamp with an Italian or Nordic design interior?
Jute matches through its texture, not its colour: beige, black, grey or cream depending on the model. In an Italian design interior, a smoked glass base like Costero or a black metal one keeps the lines fine; in a Nordic setting, the rattan of Paglia and the wood of Ano take over. The beige versions blend in, the black ones add structure.
| Model | Material | Height × diameter | Base | Dimmer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soga | Metal and jute | 38 × 30 cm | E27 | Yes |
| Montagna | Concrete, linen and jute | 32.5 × 18 cm | E14 or E27 | Yes |
| Costero | Glass and jute | 43 × 17 cm | E14 or E27 | Yes |
| Ano | Metal, jute, cotton and wood | 35 × 24 cm | E27 | Yes |
| Paglia | Rattan and jute | 58 × 32 cm | E27 | Yes |
| Aridaneta | Jute and metal | 38 × 35 cm | E27 | Not stated |
Italian design table lamp: what brings it close to jute?
Italian design is read in the fineness of the bases and the materials paired with them, glass and metal. Costero in glass and jute is close: a column 17 cm in diameter, 43 cm high, smoked glass under a textured shade. The contrast between the matte fibre and the glossy glass also works with the crystal lamps.
Black living room, white wall: which jute colour should you choose?
On a white wall, a beige shade blends into the wall and the lamp counts mainly for its silhouette. In a black living room, a black version adds structure to the furniture, while beige creates a clear break. For a soft decor, the Nordic-style lamps and the black versions for the living room offer two opposite directions. Ceramic, for its part, remains an alternative material, to be seen in the ceramic bases.
How do you install and care for a jute table lamp?
Dust the shade dry, with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner on the low setting, without any liquid product that would mark the fibre. Keep the lamp away from a heat source and a water point. All the models in the collection are IP20: they live indoors, not on a terrace or in a bathroom.
Outdoor table lamps: why jute has no place there?
Jute fibre absorbs moisture, warps and stains when it dries badly. A covered balcony remains a risky in-between, and a bathroom requires a different protection rating than IP20. Outdoors, jute is not the right material, whatever the model.
Changing the bulb without forcing the shade?
Cut the power, let it cool, then hold the socket with one hand while you unscrew the bulb with the other. A jute shade warps if you grab the fabric to lever against it. Once a month, a pass with the vacuum brush removed is enough to limit dust in the weave.

Frequently asked questions
What are the most beautiful jute living room lamps?
The choice comes down to format and base: Paglia, in rattan and jute, for a large living room; Costero and its smoked glass for a finer line; Soga and its black metal for a more graphic marker. They all measure between 35 and 58 cm high and sit on the floor or on a low piece of furniture.
Can you install a jute table lamp outdoors?
No: the models in the collection are rated IP20, which corresponds to indoor use, protected from water splashes. A terrace or a damp bathroom requires a different protection rating. Jute fibre fears prolonged moisture, which warps and stains it.
What is a round design table lamp?
It is a lamp whose diffuser forms a sphere or a rounded volume, set on a short base. Aridaneta takes that idea with a round shape in jute and metal: 38 cm high, 35 cm wide, E27 base. It lights up close, on a bedside table or a console.
How do you recognise an Italian design table lamp?
Italian design is read in the fine lines and the materials paired with them: glass, metal, simple volumes. Costero is close, with its smoked glass column 17 cm in diameter and its jute shade, 43 cm high. The texture of the jute is enough to warm up a very sober silhouette.
Does a jute table lamp give enough light to read?
Yes, provided you choose the bulb: most E27 models cap at 40 W, Aridaneta goes up to 60 W max per bulb; that is enough for accent reading, with the weave softening the light. For long reading, bring the bulb closer to the reader rather than increasing the wattage. Solo, in E14 with its three points, remains a bedside light.
